Eleven-year-old Tracy Fenton wakes to screams in the night. Bad dreams she’s had since the tragic death of her mother in a mysterious house fire four years earlier, but no real memory of what really happened. Over the past few years, Tracy has bounced from one foster home to the next until finally ending up at Windermere Mental Health, a facility for troubled children. The only good thing about Windermere is that she has made a friend, Mary, a special girl who has Downs Syndrome.

With the help of psychologist Bonnie Finch, who was kidnapped as a child by a woman she believes was a witch, the memories of that horrible night are coming back. And it is the discovery of her own strange gifts that leads Tracy to the realization that she must make a terrible choice, one that will decide the course of her life.

What a great book! It’s terrifying and reminiscent of what I love about many Stephen King novels. A small group of people come together, or are thrown together, to fight a supernatural entity. Good versus evil has always been a winner for me. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this unknown author but she nailed it. It was scary and uplifting at the same time. I loved Mary!

Witchchild is layered with care and a healthy helping of sheer terror. Relatable characters keep the story pace on point as Benson subtly envelops a mystical spell on her reader. It's a spine-chiller, page after page. I'll tell you one thing, I don't want to find my way to the house on Primrose Lane anytime soon.

Remarkable Book

What a truly touching story about friendship and love. With enough evil in it to keep me sitting on pins and needles from chapter to chapter. I loved the characters, the way it was written you couldn’t help but fall in love with them. Thank you Jill Benson for the story and the characters. Really remarkable!

Excellent read

I thought that I would truly have to put this one down. The author's ability to truly reel me in and weave the tale is what pulled me through. I truly came to care for the characters and I loved the ending. Great job!

Very frightening witch.. nightmarish!

This was a much scarier book than I expected. There were very disturbing parts of the story that were truly the stuff of nightmares. I loved the characters, Tracy and Mary are a dynamic duo. Loved this
