"Look," she whispered, shining the spotlight around them. In every direction the powdery red soil rose and fell in zigzagging lines coming straight for them. They were only several meters away and fast-approaching.
"Guys, we've got company." Born to convict parents on Mars, Megan and her friends-known as the Wonder Kids-were evacuated to Earth during a prisoner rebellion ten years ago. Now fourteen, she is sent back as a pawn in a deadly mission to save the colony from an attack by killer robotic spiders and lure out the mysterious scientist who raised her. Meanwhile, on Earth, the rest of the Wonder Kids come up against corrupt government officials and trained assassins and can't be sure who to trust-not even each other.
Faced with cryptic dreams, a secret prophecy, and enemies on both sides, Megan must battle to discover the truth about her parents and save the beleaguered colonists on Mars, while her friends fight just to stay alive.

The book is awesome! While Brian Wilson has always had an amazing talent for writing and story telling, he has clearly achieved his highest level of excellency with this spectacular new book for all ages. In fact, it took Brian 9 years to skilfully write this futuristic plot with suspense and surprises in every chapter. His creative and insightful descriptions foreshadow the future in clever ways. Super powers, space travel, cyborgs, and alien robotic spiders seize your fascination. 14 year old Megan though will capture your heart. If you like plot twists, a little dark humour, great character development, and an awesome ending, this book is for you!

Though you can tell that this was the first book from this author, the joy that it gives me to actually read it makes up for it! I first met Mr Wilson in 6th grade where he told me one of his villains shared the same name as me. I had been wanting to read this book ever since and I’m sad it took me so long to get to it. Though there is a very long chunk before we get to mars, once everyone arrives all of the action picks up. It was a very fun read and I’m happy to finally see how my name sake was brought to justice! Also Hendrix is the best!
