When he said his vows, he told me how much he loved my determination and strength.
If I wanted it, I got it.
Except now all I want is to have his baby. And for the first time ever, no matter how much I want it, no amount of strength and determination can make it happen.
With each negative test, my confidence waivers and I start to lose sight of who I am.
Each month, my doubt swells, creating a space between us.
Fiona Cole is a military wife and a stay at home mom with a degree in Biology and Chemistry. As much as she loved science she decided to postpone her career to stay at home with her two little girls and immersed herself in the world of books until finally deciding to write her own.
“I’ll make it up to you.” “Promise?” “Promise. And you have to promise me that you won’t be so hard on yourself for getting upset like a normal human.” “It’s jus—” “Ah, ah, ah. Don’t you dare, Olivia. You’re a queen—my queen.” Her swollen lips tipped into a smile that hit me right in the heart. “I love you,” I whispered, watching her in awe. “I love you too.”

*Thank you to Valentine PR & the author for an ARC of this title.*
When I tell you I was vibrating with excitement to revisit this series and this couple, I am not over stating it. The Voyeur series had me in a choke hold a few years back. They were some of my first really spicy romances and dabbled a *bit* into darker themes that I would greatly come to love. So I will ALWAYS have a nostalgic place in my heart for it.
Olivia and Kent are one of my favorite couples in the series as well, since forbidden age-gaps are my romance catnip. Revisiting them at a later stage in their relationship was so much fun. Even though they are going through a bit of a miscommunication misstep, it was still a thrill to come back to Voyeur and get a little peek at them and everyone else.
I think that nothing facing them is insurmountable, which is a good thing given that this was a short story, but I still liked seeing how they used their connection on dynamic to help them get through things. I believe if you loved this couple before, you will love them now. I really hope this novella coming out will get new readers into the series and bring it to a new life.
The downside I would say is that this whole Marriage-in-Trouble situation is pretty paper thin. If all that they needed was for Kent to notice that Olivia was struggling... that was a bit weak for me. And thought I do not mind reading an Infertility situation or a couple struggling to conceive, I know for some people it won't be what they want in a novella.
For me this was a win overall, and I would love for more visits back with these couples and maybe seeing them explore their intimate moments even more.
I cannot tell you how much I loved meeting Olivia and Kent all over again in this little kinky and emotional treat from Fiona Cole. Falter was everything I crave from Fiona Cole. Scorching hot. Sinful. And at the same time, heartaching and angsty. I just want more and more!
The best feature of this story is you can read this one directly without reading the previous stories about them..but why would you want to do that? Because I cannot recommend Liar enough. It's like one of those staple books in forbidden age gap romance menu. So read that and then...
Olivia is now happily married to her uncle's best friend and business partner Alexander Kent. They are trying for a baby for a year now. And it is taking toll on her heart. Kent is trying to understand what is going on to make Olivia act so angry. And ultimately he has to use his dominance and their kinky Sides to break her down and put her together. This couple is really everything. Kent checks every box of a great alpha hero. Who doesn’t want to be worshipped and cherished by a man who is gorgeous and c0cky and possesesive and yet impossibly soft for his woman? Olivia is all fire and sparks. She goes after everything she wants with a single minded ferocity. Not being able to get pregnant has been destroying her inside. But she is stubborn and fierce and she kept all inside till everything burst open. My heart just hurts for this amazing woman..to feel how sad and dejected she has become. This story is so real and raw and it shows that even the strongest love stories have ups and downs. Olivia and Kent's love is so intense and epic and you can feel it even when they are going through a difficult time. They have their very filthy and dirty fantasies and their chemistry is nothing less explosive than a nuclear weapon. Your kindle is going to self combust from all the hotness. I just love how Fiona Cole never fails to combine the steamy Sides with the emotional Sides to create an unputdownable romance.
well.. after i barely liked their first book the author had the brilliant idea to kill it for me definitely.. i did ask and wished their final wasn't as rushed , a better epilogue etc... instead i get THIS well, he shares her, F*ck NO! with this i said it all. Brilliant to ruin a couple with an extended novella... truly amazing, an author for my heart.
Wow, I absolutely loved this novella. Falter was everything you come to expect from Fiona Cole. It was emotional, sexy, sinful, kinky & hot as hell 🔥🔥
We first met Olivia & Kent in Liar, a taboo age gap story set in the world of Voyeur. You don’t need to read the other books in the series to enjoy this sexy novella but I’d definitely recommend ALL the other books. They’re all equally as hot !
Olivia is now married to her uncles best friend & co owner of voyeur, an erotic club. A playground for the rich to enjoy their kink & bring their wildest fantasies to life. Olivia is usually strong & determined, she controls the world around her, she’s absolutely not ashamed of going for something she wants. Her & Kent have been married for 5 years, their love is still as strong, still as kinky as ever, enjoying their scheduled nights at Voyeur They are trying to get pregnant, after a year of trying & no success Olivia is drowning in emotions & feelings of failure with each negative pregnancy test. She can’t deal with the hurt, pain & anger each month. She feels like a failure - she lashes out & hurts those closest to her.
Kent is busy; away on business getting his new hotel ready for opening. He knows his wife has lost her usual spark, he’s confident that she will come to him as she always has before. As time goes on he worries that he’s not enough & maybe their age gap is to blame. Kent will do anything for Olivia, he results in using his dominance to finally break down her walls.
I honestly can’t recommend this book enough. I was taken on an emotional if somewhat sexy journey.
What a delicious and emotional return to the Voyeur world and one of my favorite couples! Fiona seamlessly captures everything that made this duo and the Voyeur world so special. Mind-blowing eroticism and kinky fun paired with heartfelt emotions and authentic tenderness. It's the perfect visit back to this world and the continuation of Olivia and Kent's story that I had no idea I needed- but it's the perfect step forward.
Olivia and Kent stole my heart in Liar- the tension, the drama, the obsessive love, the KINKY!- so I was elated to be back in their minds and just see what these two were up to. Truthfully, I loved them then- but I loved them even more now. We get to both revel in the charm of their HEA a few years after we last saw them while also exploring common and relatable challenges married folks face all the time- trying to find their equilibrium, keeping the magic while pursing careers and building families, insecurities and imperfect communication. But of course, these mundane but important marital tensions play out in the backdrop of our Voyeur world with our deliciously exploratory and sensually hungry couple in it. It's the perfect combination of heat and heart, fantasy and realism.
These two had a fraught and challenging path to their HEA- and back in Liar, I struggled at times with Olivia's maturity. Which made sense- it was an age gap story, she was incredibly young, stuck between two of the most important men in her life, and still figuring herself out. SO I really loved getting to see how she has progressed as a woman- grown into her feelings, figured out how to be in a partnership with her husband, and now an ambitious professional. And while she's still the emotional and at times impulsively volatile creature we remember, she's certain matured. Her struggles in this story are incredibly relatable - I found her more charming in this story, in part because of her quite suffering and her vulnerability. How honest she was with herself about her behavior and not being able to understand her feelings. Her insecurities and worries. She really grew into herself in this novella.
And Kent, well he continued to be the perfect delicious alpha dom that we love. He's just a ridiculously sexy dreamboat- protective, loving, patient, generous...and that dirty mouth...MEOW. He adores Olivia, and I found it so endearing and heartaching to see him hurt because she was hurting, to feel lost in how to help and connect with her, to doubt himself even. But like the true alpha he is, he doesn't stay powerless for long. Per usual, Fiona gives us an answer to the drama that is equal parts panty drenching and heart melting. Olivia and Kent work out their worries both in the heart...and in the bedroom (metaphorically, cause these two like to do the freaky in very public places). Some might not love how adventurous that get in the end, but it was just the right line-walk of boundary pushing but not over a line I didn't find fit them, or my own boundaries. Unconventional? Yes. Hot and and perfect for these two? Also yes.
Falter reminds us that not all HEAs are cake-walks, that keeping one is just as hard as finding it in the first place. But true love weathers the lows and grows in them- and that's what we have here. A great addition to the Voyeur world- and oh my did it make me miss it.
I have always loved Olivia and Kent and this story was emotional, beautiful, and it made me love them even more.
Olivia is struggling, but she is hiding it from everyone in her life, including her husband. Those closest to her are noticing the change in her, but know that she will talk to them when she is ready. Kent has been travelling a lot, but still trying to spend as much time with his wife, however, he is also noticing the change. I love their journey and I love how well Kent knows Olivia and knew exactly what she needed, even if it took a little bit of time to fully understand.
This story is something that is relatable and even shows the struggles when it comes to any marriage and relationship. It’s not all perfect and sure, there may be a HEA its not always going to be easy and you may go off the path sometimes.
I loved just returning the Voyeur world in general. I love this entire group so much and I didn’t realize how much I missed them until this story.
If you’re looking for a spicy, emotional, age gap this is one to check out.
I will never have enough of Kent & Olivia - and this addition to their story was perfect! Fiona Cole yet again delivers an emotionally charged story that will have you feeling all the feels one moment, and clenching your thighs the next.
I adored all of the elements in this story - the raw emotions, the angst, the passion… all perfectly balanced. I never wanted it to end!
TW: difficulty getting pregnant
Thank you to the author and Valentine PR for an eARC of this story.
Wow.... just wow! Y'all this book had me all up in my feels! Like I can not even believe that I got so emotional over this book! 😭 I have been a HUGE fan of Oliva and Kent since they were introduced! And that has not changed at all.... Kent has become even swoonier. But he definitely shows in this book that he had some work to do in the "relationship" department. Always find a way to make time for your wife! But these 2 are solid so I had complete faith that they would work it out..... but the journey to get there had me reaching for my tissue box! Fantastic read!
I loved Olivia and Kent in Liar, and now I love them even more in Falter! This book surprised me and left me with my mouth wide open. I knew Kent was kinky, but hot damn!
The Voyeur series is one of my top favorites ever! I revisit it almost every year, so finding out that we would be diving back into this world with Olivia and Kent, I was 10000% here for it.
He liked to go with the flow—except with me. With me, he liked control. He liked to torture and spank and push me past my limits. He liked watching me cross the line for him.
Diving back into Olivia and Kent's love story, we're further down the road in their relationship. They're married and wanting to try for babies. Unfortunately, Olivia has been struggling with infertility, and while Kent knows Olivia hasn't gotten pregnant yet, he hasn't noticed how Olivia is actually spiraling.
All I had to do was keep the spotlight off of me, and no one would notice the cracks. Nothing would be able to break free. I was in control. I was fine.
I felt for Olivia so much; it hurt to read her journey, especially knowing how common it is for women who want to be mom's, to not get pregnant easily. Something I've kept quiet is that I understand Olivia on such a personal level, so her story really hit me deep.
Kent knows there's something going on with Olivia, but he's giving her the space she needs and not push her to tell him. I totally understand Kent's point of view on this, but I just wish he would have tried harder to notice what was happening with Olivia.
What makes matters worse is that Kent is always traveling and rarely home anymore, which gives more of an opportunity for Olivia to continue spiraling and going down this rabbit hole. She's even more pissed off over the fact that while her husband owns an adult club, because her uncle co-owns it, she's only allowed at certain times to be there. This frustrates her because she'd like to be more kinky with her husband outside of their home.
“I love when you’re a little brat, so I have the opportunity to watch your soft skin flush hot, burning red in the shape of my palm.”
As I said earlier, I knew Kent was into kink; I mean, Liar is all about it. But wow! Fiona Cole really went there with this one! I don't want to spoil it so you guys have the same shock factor, because it's worth it to go in it blind. Kent definitely paid attention to his wife's sexual desires, and don't we just love a man who wants to give his woman all the pleasure in the world.
Overall, Falter brings all the things I personally love Fiona's writing for: it's kinky, sexy, and electrifying, filled with filthy fantasies, while also being heart-breaking, emotional, and profound. Now knowing there's a possibility of diving into this series to get glimpses of the couples, I hope Fiona continues to do it!
Falter is the novella I didn’t know I needed. The beautiful step back into the Voyeur world that I enjoyed immensely. This is perfectly Olivia and Kent and their struggle with conception.
I think Fiona captured the emotions behind this drama perfectly. The disappointment and shame at not being able to conceive, the deception and blame at feeling like you’re the one at fault. But if we just open up to those around us that love us unconditionally we will actually find acceptance and understanding. I felt all of these emotions and the love and joy at the end as I devoured this book.
Oh, how I’ve missed the Voyeur world (& Fiona Cole’s writing) so. so. much.
This follow-up novella to Olivia and Kent’s story was everything I didn’t even know I needed. We got a peek at almost all the Voyeur couples, and got to find out where they ended up. Plus, the spice. So. Incredibly. Spicy. WHEW 🔥🔥
I loved getting more of Kent & Olivia. They are one of my favorites! She was so frustrated, and he didn’t seemed to pick up on that. Someone had to bring it up to him. How so very real life! I loved when Alexander reminded her of their love. The end was perfect! I loved this book!
Thank you @valentinepr and the author for sending me an Arc

Olivia and Kent are now married and trying for a baby. They're happy and the connection between this age gap couple has only strengthened since marrying. But something's bothering Olivia lately and Kent's determined to figure out what's behind his wife's withdrawal. His solution? Kinky, hot, and bound to get her out of her head.
I remember reading Liar and loving feisty, sassy Olivia and her determination to claim her man, her uncle's best friend, Kent. Now awhile later into their marriage, something's different about her, and I hurt for her as I read of what she was going through. Kent is his usual dominating, alpha self, and even more in love with his wife than ever before. I loved his solution to Olivia's pain, talk about DELICIOUS! I haven't been in the Voyeur world in too long, and this spicy little treat is just what I needed to bring me back into their kinky world.
ARC provided by Valentine PR for an honest review.
*Falter is about the same couple, Olivia and Kent, who first appeared in Liar. While it is recommended that Liar be read first, Falter can be read on its own.*
Release Date: October 20th
Olivia and Kent, after a few years of marriage are struggling to have a baby. Olivia having getting everything she’s ever wanted her whole life is having trouble dealing with the fact she can’t become pregnant. Not knowing how to express to her husband or friends these feelings of her “failure” she’s bottling up all her feelings. Kent is mostly gone for work most of the time and can’t seem to know why his wife’s not acting like herself. He’s having self doubt thinking she no longer wants him because of their age difference. When Olivia finally gets to her breaking point, she leaves Kent in the worst position he’s only ever made her promise to never put him in. And in the end, can they ever recover from this?
I absolutely loved this short novella! We hardly ever get what happens after the couple get their HEA. We usually get years later when they become a family and live their HEA. But what happens in the in between? Well that’s what we get with this book. The hardships, the fights, the makeups. And this book had all of that and was so well written. We definitely got the hardships and emotion and feelings from Olivia. And Kent the ever so HOT AF Daddy Vibes! 😍 & That hotel scene was EVERYTHING!! Geez! 🥵🔥 I fell in love with Kent all over again! This is definitely a must read 🖤
I’m a sucker for revisiting established couples, so you can imagine how happy I was when Fiona Cole announced there would be a novella for one of the couples in her Voyeur series, and it just happened to be Olivia and Kent. Although a short, quick read, it packs a punch, dealing with sensitive matter that probably more couples than we know have to face on their journey through life together. This novella is chock-filled with emotion and steam, complete with some conflicts and beautiful declarations of love. If you love the series, you HAVE to read this amazing novella!
Kindle Unlimited: Yes Stand-alone: No- would recommend Liar (Voyeur #5) Author: Fiona Cole Rating: 4/5 ⭐️ Spiciness Rating: 3.5/5 🌶 POV: First Person Dual Perspective Main Couple: Kent and Olivia Trope(s): Age-Gap, Marriage in Trouble
‘I chuckled at her denial. I’d never seen anyone manage a breathy gasp through clenched teeth until I met Olivia. She was everything all wrapped up in one. She was a rich bitch and a kind soul. She was need and want. She was insecure and confident. She was pleasure and pain. She was dominance and submission. And she was mine.’
After reading Liar Voyeur #5 I was excited to dive back into the Voyeur world with this follow up novella to Kent and Olivia’s story. You do not necessarily need to read any of the books in the Voyeur Series, including Liar to enjoy Falter, but it would be much more enjoyable to have at least read Liar. If you have read the series you will enjoy catching up with the crew. This book shows a much more vulnerable side to Olivia. She is still a brat, through and through, much to Kent’s enjoyment. My one annoyance is Daniel. His attitude about Olivia being at Voyeur and the play parties was petty as fuck. Didn’t ruin the book for me, I just felt that after five years his reactions were overkill.
We are five years later. Kent is very busy working on the opening of another hotel in Chicago. Olivia’s passion for design landed her a job with Carina. And, they are trying for a baby.
Unsuccessfully for a year and it is beginning to wear on Olivia.
And, she is keeping that pain bottled up inside.
Kent can feel her slipping away, but doesn't understand why.
Wanting to reconnect he plans a scene.
A reminder that despite business pulling at his attention he will go to any length to make her happy.
I was dying to read this short story and I loved it, Olivia and Kent are my favorite couple from the voyeur series and I was really excited reading more about them and their future life. Olivia and Kent are now married and their sex life was still steamy and hot as it was 5 years ago.
Their relationship was still strong but Kent had to travel a lot and Olivia was determined to be a strong woman so she never told him how she struggled with getting pregnant. She suffered alone so all her emotions were affecting her relationship with everyone so Kent always tried to be patient with her and show her that their marriage was still the most important thing.
I loved reading their steamy scenes and their interactions, they had some ups and downs but at the end they loved each other and Olivia knew that she just needed to be honest with Kent so she wouldn’t be alone with her insecurities. They worked really hard to have a good marriage and it was really hot how Kent tried to spice things up and show Olivia that his main focus was her happiness and fulfill their fantasies.
Reading into their future was the best, they still struggled with some things but their marriage and companionship was everything they needed and I loved how at the end they finally were closer to get the family they wanted so much.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Sadly, this addition to the Voyeur series missed the mark for me. And part of it is that I didn't particularly care for the way Kent and Olivia acted in this novella. Whereas I loved Liar and how their forbidden love got completely out of control and became all-consuming for them and for me, Falter showed them in both an over-the-top manipulative way on Kent's part alongside an immature one wrt Olivia.
Nothing turned me on about how they had this endless push and pull with Kent doubting his wife's love while Olivia was keeping secrets about her struggles that would make her husband 'punish' her in the ways she enjoyed. I had no qualms about their age gap in Liar and yet it seemed so much more pronounced this time around. Both acted in a way that had me shaking my head over and over and it kind of soured my feelings about their love story. Not to mention Daniel's reactions to Olivia were completely ridiculous and unwarranted. It's like all the core characters moved a bit backward in their relationships with one another and this book simply felt off and unnecessary.
The Voyeur series as a whole will remain a favorite of mine but Falter just didn't meet my expectations as a worthy addition.
Oh how I missed Kent and Olivia and their tantalizing, kinky and dirty sex. They are still as passionate as ever and if you can believe it, their sexual escapades are even more arousing (I’m so not kidding, they really are) and they definitely took it to another erotic level.
So far, Olivia has everything she could ever want in life. She has a fabulous career as a designer, an exciting marriage to the amazing and sexy Kent and wonderful friends. The only thing missing is what she wants the most which is a baby. And as each pregnancy test continues to show negative results, her heart plummets and it’s starting taking a toll on her along with her relationships with her friends and her marriage.
I really felt bad for Olivia and Kent as they navigated through these heartbreaking times. Although they had some ups and downs, it definitely brought them closer and strengthened their bond and love for each other. I was also happy that characters from the Voyeur world made cameo appearances. And everything worked out just as it should have with Kent and Olivia.
I loved Kent and Olivia and their relationship in everything we've seen them in, so when Fiona announced another companion novella featuring them with their marriage in trouble I couldn't wait to have this baby in my hands!
I really connected to what Olivia was going through-- fertility struggles impact so many of us, and I felt like all of her emotions, specifically her despair, anger and self destructive behavior very authentic. My heart went out to Kent for not knowing where his happy and carefree wife went, and not being able to get her to admit what's wrong.. it was all very angst filled and well done! This author can really write and it shows with whatever trope she tackles.
The reason for a star off for me was *that* scene didn't feel needed to me, and it came out of nowhere. I wish their reconnection was more emotional and focused on them, but regardless still a good read from an amazing author.
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions **
I love the Voyeur series by Fiona Cole and Falter was a sweet treat following one of my favorite couples Olivia and Kent from Liar. This novella was such an emotional read but also steamy and with all the kink you can expect from the Voyeur world.
This novella is the continuation of Kent and Olivia's story. Now they have been married for a few years and they are deeply in love but not everything is smooth and easy. Olivia finds herself wanting to get get pregnant but finding a negative test month after month while keeping all her worries to herself.
Kent doesn't know what's wrong with his wife trying to give her the space to come to him when she is ready but also his business is taking him away from home more often, but no worries this man will do everything in his power to bring the sexy spark to his wife, to reassure her and love her just the way she is.
If you love forbidden- age gap romances I extremely recommend this entire series.
Getting a little tidbit of the Voyeur world was fantastic! This one put all of my emotions in check when reading it! I had a physical ache in my chest at times feeling the heartbreak and emotional toll Oliva was going through. This story shows how we can hide our emotions so well from those we love but can be detrimental for your well-being. The emotional rollercoaster Oliva was on was enough to bring tears to my eyes. It also shows how much Kent loves and adores his wife that he would do anything to show her how much he loves her not matter what.
Fiona Cole has done an amazing job with this little novella, and I would recommend you read Liar to get their full story before reading this one.
