Return to Pinecraft, Florida, for a Sweet Amish Romance

Sheltered yet adventurous, Betsy Detweiler is on a mission to get out of Kentucky and experience new things in life. She's got a list--a life list. What better place to start than with her friends in beautiful Pinecraft, Florida?

From the moment Betsy walks into the Snow Bird Golf Course to sign up for lessons, August Troyer is mesmerized. Betsy is a mass of contradictions--beautiful yet awkward, outgoing yet unsure, joyful yet hesitant. She's like no one he's ever met before, and as the only child of missionary parents, he's met a lot of people.

As Betsy and August embark on a month of enjoying life to the fullest, they'll encounter several reasons to back off and play it safe. But playing it safe has its own consequences. This tender romance reminds us that life--and love--requires a fair amount of risk.

Her Only Wish is book two in Shelley Shepard Gray’s Seasons in Pinecraft series. Betsy Detweiler returns to Pinecraft for a months vacation. She’s using this time away from her controlling parents to get the chance to do things on her Life List. Not to be confused with the bucket list, a Life List is things Betsy wants to learn to do like swimming or golfing. She never got much of an opportunity to do the kind of things that normal Amish teens did in their running around years. Health issues and Betsy’s controlling parents kept her away from her friends. Now that she has become a young adult Betsy hopes to grab the opportunity to try out things she missed when she was a kid. Being smitten by her handsome Amish Golf instructor wasn’t part of her plans.

I always enjoy Amish fiction that takes place in Pinecraft Florida. This is a popular vacation spot for the Amish and there’s an Amish saying about Pinecraft. “What goes on in Pinecraft stays in Pinecraft.” I throughly enjoyed every minute I spent reading this heart warming book. It was entertaining and romantic. I thought it was realistic because both good things and bad things happened to Betsy during her stay in Florida. The ending was a happy one and just the way I like to see a book end.

I recommend this book to readers of Amish Fiction and Women’s Fiction. If you have read book one you will want to read this book. This book can be read as a stand alone although characters are carried over from book one to book two. This book is scheduled to be released on 6/6/23.

I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.

HER ONLY WISH is the second book in the Season in Pinecraft Series by Shelley Shepard Gray. It is the story of Betsy. Betsy has a bucket list. The things on her bucket list are quite common. Learn how to play golf, learn how to swim. They might be common to you and me but they are not to an Amish woman. I have been reading Shelley’s books for years and HER ONLY WISH is now one of my very favorites by her.

Shelley Shepard Gray sure knows how to make the reader feel as if they are right there at Yoders with these caring group of friends, with all their troubles and HER ONLY WISH is exactly that! She made me sad, then the next moment I was smiling and giggling out loud! You can never go wrong with a Shelley Shepard Gray book if you are a fan of the Christian fiction genre. All of her characters feel genuine and relatable and put your emotions on one heck of a roller coaster ride. Betsy meets August at the golf course. She is there to take golf lessons and August, who isn’t a teacher, wants to teach her. Huh? There is an attraction right away. They both have misunderstandings with their parents and begin to have doubts if they will ever become more than friends.

HER ONLY WISH is a heart tugging story filled with patience, loneliness, heartbreak, and love that will hold you hostage until the very last page. Once I started this heartwarming story, it was very hard to put down! Shelley Shepard Gray isn’t afraid to write about subjects out of the norm as far as the Christian Fiction genre goes. Oh, as a warning to the reader, keep the tissues handy and do not read the ending in a public place unless you don’t mind crying in front of strangers! I’m so excited to continue catching up on all of Shelley Shepard Gray’s previous books. Now I have to patiently wait for the next book in this wonderful new series! Lily’s story is next!

Did you know that the Amish play golf? Well, apparently they do in Pinecraft – one of the many delightful things about Her Only Wish, the next book in Shelley Shepard Gray’s A Season in Pinecraft series. Other delightful things include (but are not limited to), THREE separate romances blossoming, pie from Yoder’s, fun supporting characters, sugary-sand beaches, pie from Yoder’s, sisterly bonds, swim lessons, did I mention pie from Yoder’s?

I very much enjoyed meeting Mary Margaret, Betsy and Lilly in Her Heart’s Desire, so I was happy to reacquaint myself with at least Mary Margaret and Betsy in this second book. (Lilly’s story is next!). In Her Only Wish, we get to tag along with Betsy as she determines to spend her month-long vacation in Florida learning things from her ‘life list’ – things she wants to do to prove she can, after lung issues (and her overprotective parents) have limited her in the past. At the top of her list? Learn to play golf.

Enter August, our sweet hero who helps run his aunt & uncle’s golf course and offers to teach Betsy how to play. Easier said than done, as he quickly discovers – I could easily picture these scenes and chuckled at the mental picture in my head more than once (because I would be doing about as well as Betsy lol). I loved watching these two sincere hearts develop a fast friendship that progresses into something more as Betsy’s vacation continues. August’s issues with his own parents make him a readily sympathetic ear to Betsy’s frustrations, and vice versa, and I appreciated that the author doesn’t necessarily wrap up all of these problems with a nice red bow by the end. Life is messy and sometimes it stays that way, even though joy and goodness are always somewhere to be found too… and that’s a balance that I appreciate Gray’s Amish novels so often reflect.

Bottom Line: Her Only Wish by Shelley Shepard Gray is as warm and sunny as its Florida setting, with a few clouds of life that drift in to keep things realistic. In addition to our main protagonists’ romance (which was so sweet), there are two other romances blossoming for supporting characters – including a non-Amish couple. I enjoyed the switches back and forth in perspective between Betsy, August, Nate, and Annie (those last two are each one half of the other romances I mentioned) and the layers each brought to the story. The underlying themes were gentle but meaningful and inspirational, and a couple subplots really touched my heart. If you’re looking for a great sweet romance & a beach read that you can enjoy even if you can’t physically be at the beach, Her Only Wish is what you need!

This book is the second book in the series and it can stand alone. In the first book 3 girls ride a bus to Florida and spend a week at a bed-and-breakfast. The first book centered around one girl and this book centers around Betsy. Betsy has asthma very badly and her parents are very protective of her. Betsy decides to go visit her friend, mary, who was one of the girls in the first book, and stay with her and her husband for a month. During this time Betsy tackles some things on her life list. One being learning to play golf. Betsy meets lots of people, falls in love, and finally gets her parents to see that she is grown and capable of taking care of herself. I love this book and can’t wait to read number three.

Good second in the series! A Season in Pinecraft features three young women that meet by chance while visiting Pinecraft, Florida. All three see themselves as wallflowers and it's rewarding to watch them expand their horizons.

In Her Only Wish Betsy has a life list (not a bucket list because she's not approaching death) of things she wants to achieve during her four week visit in Pinecraft. Her list includes learning to play golf and learning to swim. She's had a sheltered life due to having asthma. Her parents are overprotective.

Golf course manager August feels so fortunate to be settled in one place after being raised by missionary parents all over the world. His parents are selfish and controlling. Fortunately, he has a loving aunt and uncle in his life.

Beyond the primary romance blossoming with Betsy and August, there are secondary friendships and romances in the wings. Overall, a sweet tale of romance and growing up.

My gratitude to publisher Revell for a complimentary copy of the novel. I was not required to post a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

This was such a fun second installment to the A Season in Pinecraft series. I saw such a fun side to the Amish that kept me smiling while reading. Betsy is such a charming character willing to step out of her comfort zone and explore a life list. That list includes learning to golf where she meets August and swimming where she touches the lives of Anne and Danielle. She is inspiring to everyone whose life she touches. I fell in love with these characters and Pinecraft in book one and was so glad to revisit. The descriptions make me want to visit. It was nice to see Betsy and August grow throughout the story and seek the lives they wanted. I look forward to book three. In the meantime grab a copy and settle in for a book that leaves you smiling inside.

Her Only Wish was such an enjoyable, feel good story! I liked seeing Betsy achieve some of the things on her life list, while also falling in love with August. It was hard to witness how overprotective her mother was, even from afar, yet it was good to see how Betsy’s relationship grew and changed with her parents, as well, as the novel progressed. Their way of interacting with her definitely became a healthier way of behaving.

There were actually three potential love stories brewing in this book, and all were pretty fun to read about. One of the other love stories happened between another young Amish couple who lived in Pinecraft and it was refreshing to see this sweet couple find happiness together. The third romance was minimal and was between a couple of Englishers. It definitely had the potential to turn into more in the future and that possibility was definitely hinted at.

There was also a sweet rebuilding of a sister relationship that took place in this story, as well. All of these characters were woven into the lives in one way or another with Betsy and August, so these little glimpses into the hearts of these men and women and the romances and friendships that were beginning enhanced the overall story.

(4.5 stars)

I enjoyed my first fictional visit to Pinecraft, Florida, with Her Heart's Desire, so I was especially glad to return for a second trip! Her Only Wish allows me to meet new characters while catching up with characters that I've met before. One is sweet Betsy Detweiler, and I'm adopting her philosophy about having a life list instead of a bucket list. Betsy has led a sheltered life and wants to enjoy new experiences now instead of waiting until she's dying to check items off of a bucket list! Shouldn't this be the goal for all of us?

As Betsy works to check items off her life list, she finds friendship with an equally fantastic character. August Troyer is kind and devoted to his family, but he isn't sure he wants the life his parents have planned for him. Is there a chance that Betsy and August might create a life list they can check off together?

Heartwarming, entertaining, and inspiring are adjectives that I often associate with this author's stories, and this book fits them to a tee! There's romance, adventure, and a reminder that we're sometimes challenged to reach past our comfort zones. Shelley Shepard Gray also gives readers a peek at a future adventure that's waiting in Pinecraft. I highly recommend Her Only Wish to all who enjoy Amish romance and contemporary fiction.

Genre: Christian Fiction > Amish Fiction, Inspirational; Romance > Contemporary Romance

Featuring: Epigraph, Pinecraft, Florida; Wallflowers, Medical Vernability, Stuttering, Golf, Friendships, Multiple POVs, Fear of Taking Chances Trope

Rating as a movie: PG for Romance

Songs for the soundtrack: "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My thoughts: 📱46% 3:00:56 Ch. 16 I love it! I thought August was in book 1, but I can't place him. Mary doesn't seem like the same Mary, but I'm glad the characters are present, and the story is continuing where it left off. I'm enjoying all of the storylines, which is rare.

This was pretty good. I'm looking forward to Lilly's story in Her Secret Hope. The ending felt rushed and clipped, I didn't get all of the information I wanted.

Recommend to others: Yes. This is a nice series.

After all, her dreams weren’t important ones. Just wishes about things she wanted to do one day.
“For what? Dreaming of learning to do a bunch of things that most people are able to do before they’re seven or eight?” He frowned. “Hey, don’t do that. Don’t put yourself— or your dreams —down. It doesn’t matter when or if you want to do these things. What matters is that you want to push yourself to learn something new. Ain’t so?”
I know this is a long quote, but I figured if I left part of it out, it wouldn't make sense. I love this quote, and out of all the ones that are in here; this one is my favorite.
I feel like this author is telling my story through Betsy. In many ways, I'm just like her, unable to do much, but too stubborn to admit it. I keep pushing myself to impress others, and then I end up looking the fool. Then I feel like I'm not good enough for others.
Betsy is my favorite of the three girls for the reasons above. I absolutely adore her determination.
Another hard lesson is that nit everyone is the same and can do different things. I think this is where the jealousy comes in. I know it shouldn't be like that, but sometimes I can't help it.
The one thing I didn't like was Augusts'
parents! It sure was eye-opening, yo see from a different perspective of parental guidance! They acted like a couple of kids themselves!
I loved this novel so very much! I finished it in a day it was so, and I hated to say goodbye.
Dreams gives us something too hope for towards the future.
5 stars for a wonderful job of bringing these characters to life and for making me feel like that I was a part of beautiful sunny Pinecraft.

Her Only Wish is the second book in the Season in Pinecraft series. This book features August and Betsy. August lives in Pinecraft and runs a golf course that his aunt and uncle own. Betsy is visiting from Kentucky and she has a life list that she wants to accomplish while staying there. One of the items is to play a round of golf, and that is where she meets August. Another life list is to learn to swim. I highly admired this spunky gal who has asthma. She wanted to try and do things she was never permitted to do before. There are actually three romances going on in this story, and so that makes this romance reader a happy one. I really enjoyed this sweet Amish romance and I look forward to her third installment.

This is an uplifting story of an Amish girl who has a health problem but is determined that it won’t stop her from fulfilling her “life list.”When Betsy arrives in Pinecraft to spend a month, she has goals that she plans to carry out, including learning how to swim and how to play golf. Having been sheltered all of her life because of her health issues with her lungs, Betsy wants to live life to the fullest and sets out to do so. At the golf course, she meets golf instructor August Troyer, a kind young man who is willing to teach her. Coincidentally, she also meets a young woman who will give her private swim lessons. Betsy’s life has been filled with “no’ and in this book, she finally discovers people who tell her “yes” and encourage her to reach for her dreams. I really enjoyed the story because it was positive and upbeat as well as realistically possible. The characters were well-developed and relatable, with regular flaws and problems of everyday life. The story moved along quickly and although many of the plot elements were predictable, there were a few twists along the way that kept the story interesting and engaging. Pinecraft is such a perfect setting for the story, with its beach and tourist attractions adding to the realism. This is a quick read and a light romance, clean Amish fiction that inspires as it entertains. Highly recommend!

Having hope will give you courage Job 11:18

Betsy Detweiler has a bucket list and the only way she accomplish her bucket list is going to Pinecraft Florida, away from her community and family. She is staying with her friend and her new husband. Betsy suffers from asthma and her family has been over protected regarding her health. They would not approve of their daughter's fun list. At the top is golf and close second is learning to swim. It is these two adventures she meets some new friends.

To say the least August Troyer is amused by Betsy's request to learn golf. Being Amish himself and living with his aunt and uncle who own a golf course, he was volunteered to teach Betsy the fundamentals of golf. August becomes inspired Betsy's bucket list and realizes he needs to take some steps of faith himself when it comes to missionary parents.

Betsy also meets Annie and her sister Danielle. As sisters who are experiencing a season of life that needs a new purpose. Betsy offers her sister to give Betsy swimming lessons and swimming is not the only lesson learned.

It is only in relationships we can learn lessons of faith, hope and courage. It is amazing how these three virtues are so closely connected and how we need to feed them in our own lives.

A special thank you to Revell and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

Betsy Detweiler heads back to Pinecraft, Florida to visit with Amish friends. She has made a special life list of things she wants to accomplish on the month long stay. It is important to learn and experience these things that she was never allowed to do under her parents care. She is an adult after all and able to make her own choices.
August Troyer is a quite taken with the young Amish woman when she appears at his family golf course to inquire about taking lessons. He has had a social life meeting many people as he traveled with his driven missionary parents but never anyone like Betsy.
I received the advanced reader's copy of this sweet romance book written by Shelley Shepard Gray. It is the second book in a series published by Revell. I have read the first book and recommend it. This works as a stand-alone read. I enjoyed this story very much. I love that other characters in the story decide to make their own life lists too. It is good to stop up and ponder what you would like to do while you have the time, before it's too late. There is a good reminder here that parents of grown children need to allow them to live their lives. Trust God.

An advantage of being ill is having time to just sit and read, and this turned out to be the perfect story for recuperation reading.

I really enjoyed the first novel in the A Season in Pinecraft series, Her Heart's Desire, but I loved this one even more. It was great to meet Mary and Jayson again, but Betsy's story is totally captivating. Sheltered all her life by overprotective parents Betsy is taking an extended trip away to break free and to tick off items on her 'life list'. The first item on the list is to learn to play golf, but on her first visit to the local course she is saved from injury on the fairway by August Troyer, the son of missionary parents who are serving overseas and who disapprove of their son's life choice. August takes on the task of teaching Betsy, and that is so wonderfully described that I shan't spoil it by giving any hints here!

Betsy's life list sends ripples into several other lives. August's friend Nate takes his courage into both hands and asks a very important question. Sisters Danielle and Annie begin to mend their damaged relationship (and OH how I would LOVE to know more about them, both in terms of Danielle's family, and Annie's fledgling relationship with Jack). And the changes in relationships between two sets of parents and their children are really well portrayed, as is the portrayal of the parenting of August by his Uncle and Aunt, who are lovely people.

There are so many fantastic things to say about this book. It's engrossing, amusing, agonising (one particular episode in a hospital room stands out!), and joyous! Shelley Shepard Gray creates a fully rounded cast of characters with completely believable strengths and weaknesses. There are no 'bit part' actors here. I honestly can't wait for the next instalment, Lilly's story, and my wait is going to be a long one since I've been lucky enough to read a very early manuscript ahead of this novel's publication in summer 2023. All I can say is that if you're looking for a summer holiday read, add this to the top of the list.

For transparency, I work with the publisher so have seen an early manuscript. It is therefore possible that there may be some changes in the final manuscript. I was not required to write a review, or to make any positive comments. All the views above are my own.

Her Only Wish is the second book in the "A Season in Pinecraft" series and centers around Betsy Detweiler, one of the original "wallflowers" from the first book of the series. I liked the premise of the book that instead of making "bucket lists," Betsy was making a "life list." Her list of things she wanted to accomplish were things that made living life more rewarding and fulfilling.

I don't know if it was Shelley Shepard Gray's intention, but she created two characters whose parents were the very definition of dysfunctional. Betsy's parents were helicopter parents who hovered over her every move and tried to control her life, even though she was in her twenties. August, the golfer who is teaching Betsy to golf, comes from missionary parents who were all about being seen doing the work, and that was their whole identity. A couple of things happen that bring all this dysfunction to the fore--Betsy has a rather severe asthma attack, and August's father has an accident in Africa that could have cost him his leg. In both instances, August's and Betsy's parents made unreasonable demands on them and had to be told they were out of line. Betsy's parents took a hard look at themselves and changed. They saw the detriment they were causing to Betsy in not allowing her to live her life on her terms. August's parents expressed their disappointment in him having ideas of his own and not bowing to their every whim. Betsy's parents acted out of love, where August's parents acted out of how things would affect them. It was a sad situation for them both, at first, but they overcame in incredible ways.

Shelley has worked in two parallel romances into the novel to give it more life and flair. It was truly an enjoyable book just right for a rainy afternoon with a cup of hot tea and a cuddly blanket. Four strong stars.

I won an advanced reading copy from LibraryThing and the opinions are my own.
A clean, wonderful read about a number of characters, all with a story of their own. The main character is Betsy Detweiler who has a "life list' and not a "bucket list" of things she wants to do. The first is to learn how to play golf and this is where August Troyer is introduced into the book.
One of the best reads I have read in a long time. The characters are real and the problems and solutions are real. The characters are of the New Order Amish. It is the second book of the Pinecraft series; the first is Her Heart's Desire.
I rated Her Only Wish a 5 star.

This is the second book in the A Season in Pinecraft series, and I thoroughly enjoyed the visit. In Her Only Wish, Betsy is a sweet and likeable character, and I connected with her outlook and desire to do things she’d never done. I also connected easily to August, who is leading an uncertain life because he’s unsure of what he wants to do. And I enjoyed watching each of them grow—both personally and together.

One of the most charming things about this story is the spiritual aspects and the main characters finding God’s purpose for their lives. The story reveals the beauty in adventure, emerging from our comfort zones, and growing into who we’re meant to be.

This sweet, romantic, exploration story is a quick, inspirational read for those who enjoy sweet romance and Amish fiction. I enjoyed this story and look forward to reading Lily’s story in book 3.

Her only wish is a beautiful continuation of the group of three Amish girls that found themselves and friendship in Pinecraft, FL, a popular vacation spot for the Amish in this story.

This is Betsy's story. She reconnects with old friends and meets new friends as she faces her fears.

This was a beautiful story with Betsy and August having great chemistry, It is truly about the way we affect each other's lives and challenge each other to grow.

Betsy shows courage to emerge out of her wallflower cocoon and find the person she wants to be. She is able to learn how to live, even with the Asthma that her parents were scared of and kept her from doing many things. She is able to ultimately grow and become a more fulfilled person.

Shelley Shepard Gray writes a beautiful story full of characters and gives reason to care about them. I found myself turning the pages because I couldn't wait to see what happened next. The conflicts are organic and there are opportunities for growth and change.

I didn't love this one as much as the first but I did love getting to revisit all the characters and meet some new ones on the way! Betsy Detweiler is back in Pinecraft Florida and this time she's brought a list. She is staying a month with her good friend (who is now pregnant) and she is determined to accomplish as much as she can on her life list. It's not quite a bucket list - but it's a list of things Betsy wants to accomplish to prove that she can accomplish what she sets her mind too. Her parents have babied her because of her asthma and she's tired of being held back. Right off the bat she decides to sign up for golf lessons so she can play around of golf. A charming young Amish man will teach her the rules of the game and his heart. But is she really falling for him or is it just a Florida thing? Along the way she meets some nice Englisher women who teach her to swim and some other Amish folk - her trip aims to be quite life changing. Cute and predictable. Give me the next one already!

"A bucket list is a list of things to do before you die. I have a list of things to do to make me feel like I'm finally living. It's my life list" (location 77). Little does Betsy know how her desire to experience life will affect people all around her. Her boldness in trying new things, difficult things, encourages those around her to do something they've been putting off doing...to take a step of courage. It was beautiful to see.

Betsy is delightful. She's been sheltered because of her health and doesn't want that to hold her back any longer. It made me think a bit about what I'd want to put on my own "life list." I enjoyed seeing her with her new friends and was glad to see her stand up for herself when her parents were tempted to take over again. It was a fun read.

Shelley Shepard Gray’s newest book “Her only Wish”, the second book of three in the A Season in Pinecraft series continues the story of Betsy one of the Wallflowers.

It’s a great story of what you can complete in life with the help of a few friends, and a little determination, even when your health and fears can sometimes get in the way.

Betsy with a heartful of desire to complete her Life List sets out to a beautiful Pinecraft FL. Book two “Her only Wish” instantly draws you into her adventures and you are pulled back home to Pinecraft like you never left.

This book was a true page turner and I couldn’t put it down. The story is so beautifully written that you can picture all of your surroundings and feel the emotion of all of the characters and now I want to start a Life List.

I highly recommend this and all Shelley Shepard Gray’s books, it is possible to read as a stand-alone story.

Rating: 5 Stars!!
Review:
Last year I started this series but didn't continue it because I was waiting for Books 2 and 3 to come out so I thought this month was a good time to continue it and I'm glad I did.

The Characters were fun and enjoyable to read about. I couldn't pick one as my favorite since I seemed to like all the characters.

The Setting was beautifully described which made me feel like I was actually in Florida while reading especially when the scenery was described.

Overall a Good Book 2 in this Amish Fiction Series!! Can't wait to read Book 3 soon.

A cute little read! A little bit cliche, but still enjoyable. I liked how other characters' narratives were included; it made the story a little more interesting.

We met Betsy Detweiler in the first book in this series. After returning home to Kentucky, she has decided to return to Pinecraft to experience new things, meet new people and more importantly to live life without her parents hovering over her constantly. I mean she does have a health problem but they treat her like a child and not the young woman she is.

I like Betsy, she is sweet, a bit awkward and seemingly clueless but in charming way. Her naiveté was a big part of her charm, she did have a spark in achieving her goals which added to her likeability. When she decided to take golf lessons, it was the start of amusing situations, not just for me as a reader but also for August Troyer who has challenges with his parents.
This is an entertaining novel, with well crafted characters, a wonderful storyline and one that kept me engaged from beginning to end.
I received a copy from the publisher through Netgalley. Opinions are my own.

Thank you Revell for allowing me to read an ARC for Shelly Shepherd Gray’s second book in her A Season in Pinecraft Series, Her Only Wish. The Release date for this book is June 6, 2023.

Although this book could very well be read as a standalone, you will enjoy it more as you revisit friends you met in Gray’s Her Heart's Desire.

This is the delightful love story of Betsy and August. This story is well written, exciting, and keeps you guessing from beginning till end. The characters are strong and well developed. Overall, this is a wonderful five-star addition to your Shelly Shepard Gray library.

In the story, we see love develop and grow. We also get a good lesson in acceptance of people as they are, and also allowing everyone to spread their wings and soar on their own.

This is a enjoyable book for anyone who loves Amish fiction.

Views expressed are my own, and I was not required to leave a positive review.

I have been reading Shelley Shepard Gray's books for a long time and was thrilled to receive an advance copy from the author. This book is yet another sweet story. This is the second book in the series and takes the reader back to Pinecraft, an Amish community in Florida, to visit a group of friends. The main characters, Betsy and August, are finding their way as young adults, figuring out how to help their parents understand that they will always be a daughter and son but are no longer children and they need to be given the freedom to find their own way. I admired Betsy's determination to complete items on her life list and thought that I should make a similar list! Readers will enjoy themes of friendship, forgiveness, and overcoming fears. Overall this is a heartwarming read for those who enjoy Amish fiction and clean romance.

This is the second book in the A Season in Pinecraft series. If you get a chance to read the first book, Her Heart’s Desire, it will give you a lot of background on the characters and the place for this book.

Both books in the series struck me as being “coming of age” stories for young, yet unmarried people in their mid-20s. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and finding out what issues they needed to figure out and in what areas they needed to grow and mature. After reading about Pinecraft, I found out it is a real place in Florida for Amish snowbirds! There aren’t too many plot twists, so the book is a fairly relaxing read.
