When Jasper Starr gets a promotion and gets to go to the top of his corporation's tower, he thinks he's really arrived. No one ever gets to go straight to the top. Well, no one but Michael Nero, the assistant to the head executive. Michael becomes Jasper's tour guide in his new high-powered world, making Jasper wonder about the man. A lot. Jasper finds himself wanting to know more and more about Michael, and when the object of his desire begins wooing him with gifts and phone calls, the personal attention is more than Jasper ever dreamed he might have. I live and write in eastern Canada. I went to a bunch of schools, learned a lot of things, and now make stuff up because not to do so is unthinkable. I'm fond of fountain pens, Levenger's Circa system, and Steampunk fashions.
I'm inspired by the day to day minutia of life, and find beauty in the way words go together. I like texture and richness of experience. I'm not shy. I'm happy, I'm learning, I'm living.

Jasper is excited. He has got a promotion and a new office. The first morning he is waiting the elevator to his new office when, from the CEO personal elevator come out Mr. Nero, the CEO's personal assistant and quite without words, he takes Jasper up to the 35 five floor, the CEO's floor.

Michael Nero was a 40 years man, handsome and reserved. And really during that lift, he doesn't say much, unless subtly asks about Jasper's personal life. But then a gift, a late night phone, a warm smile in the corridor... all contribute to make Jasper dream about this man and how his name, Mick, will sound on his lips during love.

A short and interested tale, about a office affair with a open question: Jaspet will be like all the other employees, men and women, that in the last 40 years have made that same ride in that elevator?

The story is very short and I can't really have a strong opinion on Jasper and Michael. Michael is a very sober man, very controlled with other people, but not cold. He is warm with Jasper in every public situation, and very hot in the intimacy. Jasper is less sure but not uneasy with Michael, and he can quietly admit his attraction for this man.

Good m/m romance, set in the indeterminate nearish future, about a guy who works in an office tower where career advancement literally involves moving up the tower/ladder. When the CEO's administrative assistant (from the very top of the tower) takes an interest in him, he has no idea what to think.

It left me hanging. For some reason I felt like I was reading an erotic Ayn Rand. I NEED MORE! I feel empty. 3 stars for catching my interest. I really think Jasper and Mick could have been a complete story...it was there.

This was much sweeter and cuter than I thought it would be. Mr. Nero turned out to be not what people thought, and I loved that.

短編小説。非の打ちようがないまま読み終わった。好みかと問われると答えにくいが、透明で、物憂く、静かな気配がいいと思った。

Chris Owen is one of my favorite authors, he can practically do no wrong so it's no surprise I enjoyed this story. Short, sweet and sexy!
