I’m not sure how to rate this one. The story is exactly what it presents as, a fated mates Halloween story between a human h and an alien H where the H is afraid to show the h his beast side. So overall this is a cute alien romance with steam and some angst that’s quick and seasonal, it just didn’t work as well for me unfortunately. Written in first person, dual POV. No ow/om drama, H is a virgin and h is not, no bc.

The story is steamy and explaining Halloween to aliens is entertaining, but I didn’t feel the connection between the main characters aside from the physical pull. I thought the h was just ok and the H was more likable and well-rounded imo. The H limits his interactions though at first because males of his species know they’ll eventually have their mate so don’t date before (LOVE!) but it means that these two have very little meaningful interactions on page once he realizes she’s his mate. Then there’s steaminess followed by angst before the HEA and an epilogue a year out that’s cute but short. I think this was just a miss for me that’ll be fine for others. Lots of different aliens inhabit this planet so plenty of opportunity for future stories too.

This was a highly entertaining series opener and it was beyond cute ;) I did giggle like crazy when I read how Halloween got lost in translation...so funny! And I loved the efforts that Isabella went to to try and explain the spooky fun aspect of a Halloween haunted house. Brekk signed up to help but he soon realized that Isabella was his mate... There were secrets and communication issues as they moved into a relationship but this sweet and steamy romance was so fun to dive into. I can't wait for the next book to come out :D

I wrote this book, so of course I love it. Let me tell you why.

If you've read any of my other books, you know they tend to be on the angsty side. Brekk was super fun to write because he is just the opposite. This fun holiday romance is light, fluffy, and steamy.

Isabella wants to bring her favorite Earth holiday to the town of Arixxia Fields on planet Hallion. She finds an abandoned meat packing plant, enlists half the town, teaches everyone to walk like zombies, and prepares to earn enough money to make a sizable donation to the Children's Hospital. Bonus! The galaxy's most handsome male volunteers to help. What could possibly go wrong?

Brekk is shy, and for good reason. Although they're crushing on each other, everything seems to keep Bella and Brekk apart until they're locked in the haunted meat packing plant overnight.

Fun and HEAT ensue.

A Halloween Love Story!

Isabella is trying to plan a Halloween celebration in Arixxia Fields where she moved 6 months ago on the planet Hallion. She is concerned when only three people show up for the planning meeting. She is shocked when she finds out why. Apparently the subdural translator didn’t translate the word properly. That’s all I’m saying but it’s pretty funny! They rename the holiday the Spooky Fun Holiday. After that things start looking up and she gets a lot more volunteers. One of the three people that showed up originally is Brekk, who she is totally attracted to. He is totally Hot!! Unfortunately he seems to be very shy.

Brekk was recently discharged from the Military after serving his required 10 years. He is living with his sister and her mate while recovering from an injury. He hasn’t met anyone since he has been there and went to the meeting thinking he might meet some guys to hang out with. He is shocked by his attraction to Isabella and doesn’t understand it. Detrovian males don’t date until they turn 30 when their desmoni hits. That is when they will recognize their fated mate. Since he know she can’t be his mate, he just plans to stay away from her. But he wasn’t counting on Isabella’s persistence and when she talks him into going and looking at a building for the event, he can’t think of a reason to refuse. During the day he accidently touches her when she starts to fall and the touch is shocking - literally!

Isabella is shocked when they touch - it was like being hit with electricity. She doesn’t know what it means but she can’t seem to stop thinking about Brekk. Brekk is having the same problem but is trying very hard to keep his distance. When they accidentally touch again it triggers his desmoni, even though he isn’t 30 yet. Totally confused he tries to find answers on the internet, but can’t find anything specific.What to do??

This is a cute story and I love how the relationship develops between Isabella and Brekk. But a misunderstanding between the two is about to ruin this once in a lifetime chance for Brekk!

Just a little Spooky

I loved it! Brekk was so adorable in his midnight monsterness. I thought it was hilarious that his fated mate had the hots for him but his wariness about females kept them apart. Communication is always a key to a good morning after conversation. I will never look at the old walk in icebox in my grandmother’s house the same way again.

Brekk is a feel good story about an alien who thinks he's hideous because nearing his 30th birthday he changes appearance. Normally this would happen in front of his alien mate, but Brekk has fallen for a human and he's scared she'll hate him when she sees him for the first time in his alien persona.
The story is absolutely beautiful as all of Alana's books are.
I highly recommend her stories.

The first book in the Arixxia Fields: A Steamy Small-Town Alien Romance series. Isabella and Brekk's Halloween story was fun to read. It is well written with a great storyline, but there is a misunderstanding they have to overcome. I enjoyed seeing them get their happy ending. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Such a fun quick read! So, Isabella moves to an alien planet sndwantsto help Bost the small town she now lives and the children's hosyeith all the profits going there. The problem? The theme she chose doesn't translate right... It sounds like something naughty! She ends up clearing the misunderstanding and with the help of a few volunteers she puts quite the fantastic Halloween set! Thing is she is hot for one of the most shy and oblivious volunteers. Brekk isn't shy or oblivious but in his race they don't have flings before they turn 30 because then they find their fated mates and all that was before doesn't matter. Can they have something together? Also there is another secret That Brekk has that can end everything by itself. Loved this quick, fun and very hot alien Halloween book.

Isabella is a woman after my heart, after all she loves Halloween enough to to bring into her new found life..weather that was her choice on the matter or not.  Oh the wondrous age of language translated to mix up the words.. Because Hollo-weenie is forever stuck my head! One down, now to reel in the lone purple guy to help the festivity may just turn things around
Brekk is super sweet in that standoffish way, after all when you scare away some people that is the default setting it seems. Taking a chance or rather pushed to help the human, this *Hollow-weenie*  may just be the show stopper.. Spooking up Arixxia fields to bring in more visits or money as the case maybe.

Isaabella is starting a Halloween party tradition but finds it hard to get volunteers. She had to change the name to Spooky Fun night because of what Halloween translates to. She meets Brekk at the first committee meeting.
Brekk has finished his mandatory 10 years in the service and is staying with his sister and brother-in-law till he turns 30. To get out and meet people, he joins Isabella's committee.
During planning, preparing the site for the haunted house event and working on makeup for the monsters, they get to know each other. Sparks fly. And Brekk has a secret.
Our author guides us through their interactions and romance with her amazing storytelling. Character development and world building draw the reader right into this fast paced, hard to put down story.

Syfy beauty and the beast, I loved this book it was sweet and touching and an adorable romance. It is set on a distant planet in the future where traveling to the stars is something many people do.

Add a beautiful, feisty human woman and a gorgeous, sexy alien male who turns into a beast at midnight add a little Halloween magic and you have a story that will bring a smile to your face as well as lighten your heart.

It is definitely a feel good book that I highly recommend. This author is very imaginative and her characters come to life on the page. Be sure to pick up a copy you will be so very glad that you did.

All Isabella wanted to do was utilize her favorite holiday, Halloween, as an avenue to raise funds for a children's hospital located on her new home at Arixxa Falls, Hallion. Who knew that her first obstacle would occur when Halloween is translated into local dialect as "empty penis"...what a hoot! Enter Brekk, tall, handsome, shy, unaccustomed to interacting with females and recently retired from the military (including a war deployment). His attempt of reintegration into civilian society will be fraught with issues, especially when he holds a secret about what happens when he meets his mate... shades of Beauty and the Beast. Attraction, misunderstanding, fear, secrets and the possibility of unending love flow effortlessly through this engaging story. Another winner.

This story is short, funny and sexy!
Isabella just wants to bring a little piece of Earth to her new home planet. Her Halloween planning meeting is looking bleak until the handsome purple male shows up. Looks like Empty Penis Day (got to straighten out that translator error) is going to happen.
Brekk doesn't want to be, but he's drawn to the human. Maybe it's the way she looks in her jeans, no matter, to get involved with any female before "demoni" calls is just heartache waiting to happen.
Fate has other plans and passion inducted from the "demoni" cannot and will not be denied!
Real love calls from the heart to the heart as these two soon find out.
I recommend this sci-fi rom/com.

This fun short story features a Halloween loving heroine, who wants to bring her favourite Earth holiday to her adopted planet, and a shy, hot hero who falls for her but has a secret which causes him a lot of angst. With sexy times, humour, confusion and angst leading to an HEA this story has something for everyone.

Fast paced PNR w some angst and steamy intimate scenes!

PNR novella starting a new series about Arixxis Fields, a ‘destination’ town that is known for its festivals, and depends on tourists.

⛔️ This is not a dark or heavy series, but it does have some adult language and steamy adult intimate scenes with dominance and submission. There are also a couple of references to the military and war that Brekk served in, but no real details.

I enjoyed the pace of this story and found it to be a very fast read. Maybe it is because of the chemistry between the two, the concept of ‘enamored’ mates, or the length of the story, but it will not contain the slow build up, a lot of back and forth angst between the characters (you gotta have some) or detailed story universe. I fully expect this will come as additional stories are added to the series. Regardless, the character descriptions are marvelous, especially with Brekk and his altered form. Perfect for the theme!

It features a female the emigrated to the planet of Hallion to work in public relations. Isabella’s, aka Bella’s, favorite holiday on Earth was Halloween and she misses it. So she presents the idea to the mayor who approves her idea to do set up a haunted house with all of the profits supporting the children’s hospital.

It begins with the meeting to draft volunteers to help set it up, but it quickly becomes apparent that the name and idea of the holiday doesn’t translate well … there are some very funny scenes involving this 🤣😂🤣

Bella only has two show up to discuss the concept, but then the most handsome man she has ever seen walks in, looking like he is in the wrong place, and definitely in the wrong time. Bella finally finds her tongue and welcomes him in and tries to explain the concept of how it is fun to have others dress up in the scariest costumes and do things to scare them … Bella should have thought about how to explain this more …

Brekk is still recovering from an injury he received while serving his mandatory 10-years in the military. He is going to be living with his sister and her family for the next 2-years to try and adjust to civilian life before he returns to his home planet. Males of his species go through a transformation when they meet their enamored mate (desmoni) and have achieved the age of 30. So they do not date, as that transformation will override any feelings or attachments if they are not their mate.

So what is happening to him? Why is he consumed with Bella? Why does her touch cause such a reaction? She is not his species and he is not of age yet … this isn’t supposed to be possible, right?!

I mention the following for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow. There are a couple of grammatical issues, but nothing difficult to interpret. There is a duplicated word, incorrect punctuation and a missing word. I uploaded my notes to goodreads for anyone interested.

Halloween mixup

Bella, on Hallion, asks the Mayor of she can have an Earth tradition called Halloween. What she doesn't know is that it translates into something entirely different to them. She has a hard time explaining the correct context of the word so she changes it something else. Now she has volunteers from the high school drama club n art department. All proceeds to go to the Children's Home.
Break just retired from the military, he's 28 n is given the chance to re-socialize before he returns to home planet Detrov in two years to find his mate. During that time his body goes thru a metamorphosis when he finds his desmoni. When he goes to the meeting for the Halloween event, he's surprised to find himself attracted to Bella.
This is a beautiful but strange rendition of the classic Beauty and the Beast.

I loved this book! It was such a fun Halloween-themed romance! I couldn't put it down! Great world building and wonderful characters. Isabella is trying to celebrate Halloween on an alien planet where no one is familiar with it. The unfortunate translation of "Halloween" was hilarious and almost no one showed up for her to explain it, but she did manage to convince Brekk to help as she tried to make a haunted house out of an abandoned meat packing plant. I found Brekk really sweet. There are misunderstandings, but I loved watching him and Isabella navigate through them as they developed their relationship. 5 stars.

adorable!

I must admit the first few pages were rather on the dull and somewhat rambling side and I almost gave up (Yeah, I'm bad about ditching a book if I don't feel immediate interest) but I'm glad I continued reading because things smoothed out and became a really cute low-angsty romance.
There really wasn't much between them other than the fated mate pull, so don't go into it thinking it's more than what it is.
So if you like the fated mate trope, coupled with a horny human woman, and toss in a huge D and fangs- woohoo! This book is for you :D

Arixxia Fields: A Steamy Small-Town Alien Romance ♡ Brekk & Bella ♡

This book had me laughing out loud from the beginning with the Halloween translation mishap. Apparently, the translators interpreted it as to separate words "hollow" & "ween" which was interpreted as empty penis 🤣🤣🤣 I just about passed out laughing. What a start to a short & steamy fun book.

Brekk & Bella literally spark from just a touch so as you can imagine it got really sexy, with some issues & angst until their HEA. Good read.

Great Halloween Retelling of Beauty and the Beast

Another great story by Alana Khan; and there have been many. Takes place in an alien small town known as Arraxia Falls; during Halloween season. There's a lot of humor ( I absolutely fell over laughing when the residents translation for Halloween was revealed!) It also includes steamy love scenes and quite a bit of misunderstanding. But there's a HEA at the end. Well worth reading and lots of fun!

Due to a translator issue, the aliens hear "Halloween" as Empty Pen*s holiday. So the heroine decides to change the name to Spooky Fun Day.

The hero is not 30 yet so he is not supposed to find his fated mate until he is 30 or older. So there are scenes from the hero asking himself, she's a human so she can't be my fated mate.

I read fated mate stories to avoid the problem of the hero not being sure. If you are fated mates, you know you are meant to be together.

This is a very good, well written, Alien/Human romance. The characters are interesting and lovable. Isabella misses the Haunted Houses in the fall on Earth and decides to set one up. Brekk has returned from his military commitment and is staying at his sister and her family. Brekk volunteers to help ‘Bella’ but soon finds out she may discover his secret. Read and enjoy.

What a fun quick read! Brekk and Bella are an interesting pair-each with something kept from the other. The whole haunted house thing fit so well with the situation with Brekk. I had to smile at the alien translation of Halloween…. hollow weenie aka empty pen*s . Too funny! When this couple makes the effort to be truthful, so much more is realized. Loved it.

Excellent rendition

Quite a play on Beauty and the Beast. Although Brekk doesn't morph into a hideous beast until midnight (Cinderella?), the fact it will happen is hanging over Brekk's head.
Bella has the hots for cutey potootie Brekk from the gitgo. They are definitely a match made in heaven.
Will Bella be able to live the beast as much as she loves Brekk?

This was a cute and spicy book that I really enjoyed reading! I love aliens romance, and it was also a cute small town love story. It's insta love, but not from the first page, so it does build up a little, which is nice. I also loved the humor in this story and LOL'd multiple times. I also love a good holiday series and can't wait to read the Christmas one in December!

It’s a cute little Halloween story, a very simple fated mates. It’s a good book to read inbetween slumps or if you’re looking for a quick read. I didn’t feel as connected with the characters, didn’t get no real feelings from them. But still a good story
