A surveillance drone is captured by the government-owned corporation, farming commune that is was sent to inspect.

This story reminded me of the episode "Matriculated" from Animatrix.

While I don't have a problem with recognizing Sentient AI as sentient, I personally think considering a computer program capable of independent thought a person goes too far. Likewise, I disagree with the Supreme Court ruling in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission (FEC) that bestowed legal personhood on corporations.

Absolutely loved this short story read by Levar. It made me tear up more than once while driving and I couldn’t wait to finish it! I really like the different voices he used for the different drones. So charming! And the sentiments of the whole story.

Had a 3 hour road trip to see a friend so smashed out the last few books I needed to listen to so I could complete my 2022 reading challenge ☺️
