Lulu was brought up in the Oxfordshire countryside, attended a girls’ school and then went to Oxford University, where she read English Literature. After university, she worked in publishing for several years, before becoming a novelist.
Lulu says of her books: ‘I’ve always adored stories of the rich and reckless at play, everything from The Great Gatsby to the brilliant blockbuster novels of the 80s. It’s fantastic escapism, and I’ve always loved creating my own stories of adventure, romance and luxury. My heroines are often very privileged and blessed with great looks and good health – but that doesn’t mean their lives are simple – far from it. They go through plenty of drama and suffering before everything is finally resolved.
‘Sex, love, beauty and money have always entranced us, and one way or another are the basis for just about every story ever written. There’s plenty of all of that in my novels, along with high fashion, which I love. What’s more, writing about fashion means I can go virtual shopping, dressing my heroines in all the wonderful clothes I adore – the racks of Marchesa ball gowns, the shelves of Louboutins, mountains of Chanel bags and acres of Dior dresses... it’s lots of fun. The stories can also get quite racy at times. It’s all about entertaining and amusing the reader, and enjoying being inside my characters’ glamorous, rarefied existence. ‘I’m always thrilled when someone enjoys reading my book as much I enjoyed writing it.’
Lulu now lives in West Dorset near the Somerset border, with her husband and two children.
Really enjoyed this one. This is Lulu Taylor’s first book, and although it isn’t as polished as her later ones, the characters still stand out, and the story is quite a page turner and keeps your interest. This one is more raunchy than the later books which I quite liked, with a few interesting additions! The background of the perfume industry was fascinating and I learned things I didn’t know about it. Downloaded her next two to read as well.
This is the kind of book I used to love. Books like Scruples and Lace and Jackie Collins stuff how I loved them. Oh and let's not forget Rona Jaffe! Highly recommend if you like these kind of books. Class Reunion
This is definitely not as good as Lace or Class Reunion. I only kept reading because I liked the fact they were trying to rebuild their company. What I did not like was that all women need to have a love relation and that all have to get a happy end. What I did not mind was the endless telling us what they were wearing. Lots of designer names so if you like that this is your book.
It was okay. Aright if you want a very simple read to relax.
I love Lulu Taylor's most recent books, so I thought I would try her older books. Chose Heiress first. I was not disappointed. These books are longer and more sexier, I could not put this book down. I couldn't wait to go to find out if everything went ok in the end for the sister' and I learnt a few things about the perfume industry on the way. Loved every page, now on to the next book
Easy to read, perfect rich to rags to rich again novel for when you don't want to use your brain to read. Lulu Taylor has an excellent way of writing, keeping the reader hooked but keeping the storyline lighthearted. Perfect book for a summer holiday if you enjoy reading books similar to Tasmina Perry and Jackie Collins
Loved, loved, loved this book. I expected a fluffy beach read, but the characters were so richly drawn that I couldn't help but fall in love with them! Looking forward to reading more from this author.
Took me a while to get into this one, especially as Midnight Girls was so easy to fall into. However, once I was in I was hooked. When the story began to snowball midway through, it thundered to the end, which wasn't a disappointment.
I loved this book! I've always been a sucker for books that have a strong female voice, moreso a group of female voices. I also love riches-to-rags-to-riches twists, and this book did not disappoint in the least.
