Safe to say I inhaled this book. What an amazing combination of folklore, facts, and legends--sprinkled with enough wickedness to make the reader wanting more. The author does an incredible job at bringing the legends to life and more importantly, challenging the reader on what they thought they
knew.
I found myself inspired by the stories and on several occasions, searching for even more information, my interest needing to be satiated. The author has done a masterful job at bringing together a compilation of different cultural backgrounds. The humor, the gruesome truths, and the science are woven so well!

This tongue-in-cheek look at the world’s most thought provoking and fearsome urban legends, cryptic creatures and unexplained haunting will make you laugh, give you chills, and leave you on the edge of your seat. Campbell’s unique perspective and witty repartee combines to make a delightful read. Five we’ll earned stars!

This book was not at all what I was expecting. I'm not 100% sure what I was expecting, but a detailed account of 20+ urban legends and folklore was not at all what I was expecting.
It was an excellent surprise though. I really enjoyed Micah's deep dive into all of the legends, and even including his own humor with each tale.
So why three stars? Only because the book itself got really underwhelming with SO many legends in one book. I started to get worn out with all the different legends, and honestly think this could have been split into two separate books.
I can honestly say I will be looking for more books by Micah Campbell, and look forward to the humor he can bring to his subject matter.

Urban Legends, Ghost Stories, and Folklore by Micah Campbell is a wild and wooly romp into creepy legends you might think you know, but wait...
Beyond the retelling of stories and myth that you may have enjoyed around a campfire, there is extensive research and more than a few surprises are waiting for the reader.
The Goat Man and ley lines connecting his arrival across an ocean blew my mind. The spooky graveyard in Tull, Kansas with steps to the underworld. That the author actually visited! Um... no thanks!
I think we used to call on Bloody Mary in the mirror and now I am super glad that she never showed.
Not only was this a lot of fun to read, but the snarky, off-the-cuff comments from the narrator after the initial story in each chapter had me chuckling.
A terrific read that had me jumping at sounds outside and wondering which cryptid might be under the moon waiting to prove that they exist. Loads of fun for anyone who enjoys the paranormal, mysterious things and old-fashioned yarns with a modern take.

Interesting and Entertaining
Think you already know about urban legends, ghosts and folklore? No, no no - you don't. Author, Micah Campbell, has gone into the trenches of research and come out of the bog with a swamp of facts, explanations, victim reports, recounts, and investigative 'evidence' (take this lightly) that take a sharper look at these legendary tales from a multitude of angles and lighting options to reveal even more intriguing information than I ever knew before.
Each of the 28 chapters is dedicated to a single, fully 'fleshed-out', creature, ghost, or legend. Campbell uses a masterful mix of humor, storytelling, and excellent writing to fully delve into the legends, supporting back stories and summations. Not only this, but he expertly explains how to kill the monsters, should you be unlucky and encounter one.
This book is a lot of fun, somewhat creepy, and loaded with interesting recounts. This book is prefect for anyone who loves urban legends, ghosts, and folklore. A 'must read' that I highly recommend!

An incredibly entertaining book from Micah Campbell which has just the perfect balance of witty and humorous narrative with beautifully researched tales of urban legends and horror. I was thoroughly invested in this book before I even got to the first tale due to the authors punchy humour and fantastic tension building of what is to come, add in the incredibly detailed and researched stories, deliciously dark horror with observational narrative, it was a joy for me to read and I cannot wait for more from this author. Highly recommended.

You can definitely tell the author really enjoys what he wrote about and his sense of humor was much appreciated.

From Hicks Road to Boy Scout Lane, Bloody Mary to The Lady in White, Campbell delivers in Urban Legends, Ghost Stories, and Folklore. Spooky enough at times that I was peeking toward the lites in the French doors of my office looking for a reflection over my shoulder, yet funny enough I found myself giggling all the way to bed. Micah Campbell digs deep into these stories of old and tells us what really happened, and how the legends began. A must-read for anyone who has wondered about the legends of ghosts that haunt the bridges of an old country road, or just wondered where leprechauns and vampires originated.

Fascinating! The talented storyteller Micah Campbell investigates the origin stories for some of the greatest urban legends in the world. Spine-tingling descriptions combine with hands on research into an absolutely compelling book. Campbell narrates with the perfect blend of humor and history. This book informs and amuses at the same time. I can’t wait for the next volume in this series!
