Gayle Roper rejoices every day that she gets to be a writer because she's in love with story. Even on the days that words rebel and have to be coerced onto the paper, there is nothing else she'd rather do. When readers like her work, it's like God says, "See? I knew what you were wired to do." When her books win awards like the Carol Award (Caught Redhanded) or the RITA Award (Autumn Dreams), the Holt Medallion (The Decision, Caught in a Bind, Autumn Dreams) or the Reviewer's Choice (The Decision), it's icing on the cake. And she gets to teach others how to write at conferences too. She spends a lot of time smiling. She is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers and Romance Writers of America and is the best-selling author of Hide & Seek and more than forty other books.

Paw & Order by Gayle Roper is a great read. This Christian cozy combines online scamming with a murder mystery. And the plot works!

Set in the beautiful Rocky Mountains in Colorado, Dr. Ashley Hart is the amateur sleuth. She’s a veterinarian, and with the help of her friends and boyfriend, U.S. Park Ranger Cole Hawke, Ashley solves the mystery.

The author skillfully connects Dr. Hart’s discovery of a dead body on a hiking trail in the Rockies with different kinds of online scamming ploys. No wasted characters in this mystery. Roper’s characters and their pets are all involved in finding the culprit and alerting others about online scamming.

Yes, everything works out in this story, but isn’t that why we read cozies? We want happy endings, seeing the bad guy get his due. And we want to see how the detective figures out the mystery. We want to understand why the culprit did what he or she did. We want to be in the story, feeling the energy.

If you’re looking for a great beach read, you can’t do any better than Paw & Order by Gayle Roper. Enjoy!

This was a good story about Ashley and her friends helping others with being scammed. They also solved a months old murder as well. All the regulars were involved.
