I'm Layna Moretti, Attorney at Law. I cut my teeth in the courtrooms of New York City and I can run ten blocks in my high-heeled shoes. That's why it feels like a sick joke to be stuck out here in Lake Chamberlain, Alaska - a nine hour drive from Anchorage and literally the opposite environment to the one I thrive best in.
I was supposed to be up here reviewing the paperwork for a huge new oil pipeline cutting all the way across the state - but instead, I discovered a coverup. The foreman of the oil pipeline is cutting corners left and right, and when I threatened to expose the environmental danger the pipeline poses, he tried to kill me.
Now I'm on the run from the foreman and his men - stuck hundreds of miles from civilization with nobody to turn to except the one man in town who claims he can get me out of here Local bush pilot Trapper Harris.
Trapper's tall, handsome, and intense. Within hours of knowing him, I came to trust this man with my life. He's the first man who's ever made me feel this safe before - and those aren't the only feelings he's awoken inside me.
But after our plane crashes in the Alaskan mountains, I realize even Trapper might not be able to protect me from the one thing more dangerous than the men I'm running The harsh, unforgiving environment of Alaska itself.
We wanted a chance to get to know each other better. Now we've got it - because it's only by relying on each other that we'll stand any chance of survival!
Trapper is a fast-paced and steamy romantic adventure set in the same fictional universe as the Knuckleheads Motorcycle Club series.
Danger and survival while outsmarting a madman Trapper: A Fight for Survival in the Alaskan Wilderness by Roland Hulme is an action-packed read that takes these characters full circle in an amazing and wild setting. There is a great deal happening in this action-adventure romance so there really never is a dull moment. The characters are highly engaging, even when they annoy each other. In fact, these interactions are often a bit on the humorous side (especially for the reader!). I really enjoyed the way the characters are developed along with the plot that includes the relationship. These two are pitted against nature and health concerns which changes the dynamic significantly, but not quickly! Oh, no. Trapper and Layna have no love for one another upon their first meeting and it’s takes multiple close and dangerous calls before a truce of sorts is called. Communication leads to understanding and acceptance of their situation and the daunting tasks ahead. There are risks taken (most often by Layna) that further deepens the care, concern and like into love between Trapper and Layna. Overall, what starts out as just survival becomes a desperate mission. A mission of not only surviving, but bringing justice to the peaceful and beautiful natural wilderness in Alaska. Once all is said and done, for Layna and Trapper, it’s really just the beginning. I read an ARC of this book and voluntarily share my review.
First time author for me. I loved the plot. Lots and lots of adventure. Both characters were tough and survivors. I loved Trapper and Layna together. Once I started reading I couldn’t put it down but then life got in the way. I will definitely be reading this author again.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book.
