Grandparents live by a few rules. For example, spoil the grandchildren just enough to not get in trouble with the parents. Also, you CANNOT disappoint your grandchildren. So, imagine putting a young one down for a nap and he or she asks you to make up a story about the most obscure topic. Then he or she lovingly looks in your eyes with the highest expectation. Ceiling Fan tells such a story. Papa MUST come up with a story about… a ceiling fan.
After spending 30 years as an IT Consultant, Kinscherf decided to take the story telling he uses to amuse his grandchildren and transform into a couple of children's book series.
This latest book in my new favorite children’s series by Ron Kinscherf demonstrates just how creative a storyteller Kinscherf is and how far his storytelling can go. When encouraged by his grandson to create a story about the ceiling fan in the room in which he naps, there is just no stopping him. For the record, this is based on a true story.
David likes to sleep with the ceiling fan on and nap time is no exception. One day while napping David is awakened by the speeding up of the ceiling fan to the point that it begins to act like a helicopter and he discovers all the control buttons are in the wall under the window. David is able to take charge and direct the flying room to the moon where he has an amazing adventure before waking up for an afternoon snack.
A delightful book with great illustrations that is perfect for being read out loud or for those that can read by themselves. But as is true with all terrific children’s books, the best way to read it is with at least two people so you share in the magic of the book.
Ceiling Fan is a delightful, whimsical story that captures the magic of a grandparent's imagination. Told from the perspective of Papa, who must spin a tale about an unlikely hero—a ceiling fan—this story is brimming with charm and creativity. The author beautifully weaves together humor, warmth, and a touch of fantasy, making even the most mundane object seem extraordinary. It's a wonderful bedtime read that showcases the power of storytelling and the unique bond between grandparents and grandchildren. Ceiling Fan will not only entertain young readers but also inspire adults to find joy in everyday things. A truly heartwarming read!
Shakespeare's "to sleep, perchance to dream" would be a good way of introducing Ron Kinscherf "Ceiling Fan" children's book in the "Papa Tell Me a Book" series. The series brings together a grandpa who tells his grandson a story before naptime. This is a sweet simple tale that will bring back memories of telling your kids and grandkids gentle stories before they went to sleep. Illustrated in simple sketches with only the barest of detail, the pastel colors float through the pages like the dreams they are enjoying. Enjoy everyone and sweet dreams!
This is a good start to Ron Kinscheref's series "Papa tell me a book" series. The story is great, wildly imaginative and it can be enjoyed by very small children. A seven year old would be able to read it to himself. I don't want to give anything away so will skip the plot points. Read it to your own grandkids and find out what magical things happen at rest time. The illustrations are delightful.
I got the two books of the Papa Tell Me a Book series for a neighbor of mine who has small children. The books are beautifully illustrated and the stories are perfect for young children. "Ceiling Fan" makes an exciting tale for any dinosaur or space fans out there. I definitely recommend these books for children who love make believe and reading with their parents.
Our dreams can take us anywhere we want to go and David's dream takes him far far away on a fun adventure. I love the storyline and the illustration is so cute!
