I fell in love long before I was old enough to understand the true meaning.

Paxton Shepard may have been broken, but he was mine.

My protector. My hero. My person.

When I left town, it was with an aching heart and the words, I’m sorry, I can’t, replaying in my mind.

I wasn’t expecting him to come back into my life the way he did, or at all really, but four years later, in a dimly lit parking lot over a cheap cup of coffee, he saved me in more ways than one.

He tells me I’m his as if I haven’t known it since the moment we met and kisses each scar on my soul as if his touch alone can heal them.

But happiness is never really that simple, is it?

I had the best intentions for this story. I liked some of it but the last third spoiled everything!

Paxton and Indigo were beautiful together. I liked their relationship and how much devoted he was to her.

The writing style was good, however there were plenty of cliches and drama and the originality which the author tried to create felt insincere.
The author's attempt to provoke emotions was not successful.

What happened to Indigo’s mother, looked very contrived. The only reason I could think of behind this action was the shock value. It didn’t flow natural, it just happened out of nowhere.

I felt like I was being deliberately manipulated as to be emotionally affected.

As much as I enjoyed the romance between Indigo and Paxton, I didn’t the drama with her ex boyfriend the last part as well.

Tortured by the past and feeling unworthy of Indigo Parish, Paxton Shepard lets her slip away.

When his do-over comes four years later sitting in a parking lot with a cup of coffee and a donut, Pax knows better than to let her go again.

Indigo is an emotionally-charged second chance love story with all. the. feels. Literally. I made my way through frustration, heartbreak, and rage. I also laughed and swooned, and found myself hot and bothered!!

Pax was tender and romantic, but has a filthy mouth that will pink your cheeks. While the extremely caffeinated Indie is the girl you want as a bestie.

Beautifully written, Indigo is a story that will be living rent free for the foreseeable future.

I’ve been waiting for this book since I had enjoyed very much Molly, the previous one written by this author.
I didn’t dislike this one but I wasn’t crazy about it either.
The hero and the heroine have grown up together, he’s a bit older and she’s the same age of his younger brother.
She’s been in love with him since she was a teenager and they have a special relationship, nothing physical though.
At 20 the heroine decides to leave the town to complete her studies and asks the hero to follow her.
He refuses, and refuses even her suggestion that they have a long distance relationship.
Without explanation.
The heroine is shattered, because she basically confessed her love to him and begged him, but he rejected her.
She keeps calling and texting him though, without any answer.
He basically ghosts her for one year.
After one year the heroine is done pining for him and moves on. She didn’t finish her studies and is employed in her boyfriend’s father’s business.
She’s in a relationship with a man who at first seems nice then he reveals himself for what he really is, an abusive psycho.
After almost three years of being psychologically and sometimes physically abused she dumps him and the man becomes a stalker.
Then her mother tells the hero and here he comes to rescue her from the bad guy.
He offers her a job and finds her a place to live in their town.
So basically she gives up without a fight because she still loves her.
Even if he ghosted her for four years. (Turn out that the stalker boyfriend had his number blocked on the heroine’s phone and he wasn’t able to reach her and after one year, just when she gave up her hopes, he was going to her but her mother told him she was having a date with a guy. He kept calling her but she never answered. Meh)
No real issues after this, because they both are attracted to each other and he explains that his father was an alcoholic abusive who became homicidal when he was drunk, so he had to protect his lil bro.
The hero was also having counseling because he had anger management issues.
There’s a bit of drama when om comes to town and threatens the heroine but the hero beats him black and blue but it’s all solved in the end.
Then there’s another big and IMO very unnecessary tragedy that drags the books for other 50 and something pages and that really-really- spoiled the book for me.
Those two had already suffered a lot, the heroine growing up with only her mother and then being abused by her boyfriend, the hero with his abusive father, and why they had still to endure another great tragedy and loss, I’m still wondering.
I won’t spoiler too much, let me say that I couldn’t believe I still don’t understand the reason of this choice.
What I liked.
-As usual, the hero is super obsessed with the heroine, and very protective of her. He’s also kind an caring, this one is really a man who takes care of the ones he loves.
- the writing style. Very good, never boring.
- secondary characters are interesting and their interaction with main characters in fun and pleasant.
-some very hot sex scenes.
What I didn’t like.
- the hero ghosted the heroine for one year. Why? Because he was in a bad place? It doesn’t make sense. He loved her but still he couldn’t even text her back? His excuse was that he had to protect his lil bro and was having counseling. But why the ghosting? Then he suddenly decided he had enough and wanted to go to her as if nothing happened. Really? And if it was true, why he simply let her go when he was told she was going on a date? Why didn’t he fight for her? Yes, he tried to text her but evil om blocked him, but still, if he really loved her, he should have gone to her and have fought harder since he was the one to dump her.
- the heroine dropped her studies and became the usual cliche secretary for her fiancé’s father. I didn’t like it.
-the tragedy in the end. Really unnecessary.
- some loose ends. What happened to her father, a man who never shows up? And the hero’s father who was in jail? Did they never speak again?
About safety. The hero had women when the heroine was a lil girl because obviously he wasn’t into her and thank god for it, but nothing serious. He stopped seeing them when he started having feelings with the heroine. It’s only hinted but I was satisfied with it. When they were separated the heroine was in a relationship with another man for almost 2 years so she had sex with him while the hero had only two ONS in 4 years, when he knew she was dating another man and when he heard she could be marrying om. Then he was basically more celibate than her, and not at all a manwhore.
So no double standard here.
I like this author and I’ll definitely read her future books, her heroes seem decent persons and she has some good angst that doesn’t come from a hero abusing or cheating on the heroine, so she’s top on my list.

“I love you, Blue. I’m right here. Always.”

Safety warnings:

- Mention of cheating

- OM drama
- Mention of physical/mental abuse

I was hooked from the first few chapters. I loved Paxton and his entire personality. He was such a complicated character especially when being presented with his past and what he had to go through. You didn’t understand in the beginning why he chose to let her go but it made more sense once you understood his reasoning.

Indigo was such a beautiful character. It hurt more than anything having to watch her go through something in the hands of the worst person and later having one of the worst things happen to someone. I cried for most of the last 20%.

The side characters really made this book even better. The small town feel and the friendships.

Let’s not even start on the spice 🥵

I hated Michael with every fiber of my being. He was the absolute worst human and just a manipulative piece of shit. He should of been punished for everything he did so I’m sad he didn’t.

What a beautiful story filled with love, healing and passion.

Pax and Indie, such a beautiful love story K Veitch has created for these two.

She takes us on an adventure full of hope, love and affection, with a few dirty encounters I'm sure you'll love as much as I did ;)

For those wanting not only feel-good-vibes, yet a real emotional connection you can feel between the two main characters, then this is the book to read. I felt Pax's hesitation and his love toward Indie, and for Indie, I felt the heartbreak and the angst she held throughout the book.

Small town romance, quirky FMC and a JPH, this is the book for you.

KV's second book, and it's well written, as is her debut, and she just keeps getting better and better. Love it, and highly recommend.

Great writing. I can see why so many loved it.
Not for me though. DNF 30%
Tired of reading about heroines who fall at the H feet after he’s done something wrong. Like they almost appear to grovel to the H when the H clearly screwed up. Have some self love and respect. Make him work for it at least a tiny bit? A small grovel? Something? No? Just me? Lol
Nothing wrong with the book I’m just too busy and life’s too short for me to read things I don’t enjoy anymore.

The couple: Paxton and Indigo

Romance trope: new adult; friends to lovers
Length: 382 pages

Plot: Paxton and Indigo were friends from the moment they met, and something more not too long after. But Paxton didn't acknowledge their feelings because Indigo was still too young. And when it was time for her to go off to the big city, he stayed behind and couldn't really explain why. So she moved on with her life, until her mother intervened when Indie's new relationship turned abusive. Paxton is back, a knight in shining armor, and he won't take no for an answer this time.

Commentary: I always say this, but I just don't like new adult stories in general. I still read them, sometimes by accident DNS sometimes because the blurb sounds good and I think this time will be different. It never is. It seems that the hallmark of new adult stories is the poor communication. Paxton wouldn't/couldn't tell Indigo what he was feeling, so he drove her away. When he went to the city to save her from her ex, he barreled in and overrode everything she said. Again, poor communication. There was a third-act crisis (not really relationship-connected) that could have been left out - it just prolonged the book and didn't fit smoothly into the plot. Other than that, it was just hanging around with friends and getting to know each other again. Not very exciting.
Also, having the ex show up and Paxton threatens him and then he just went away was strange. That's not really how violent stalker exes work, in general. Especially ones as entitled and coddled and privileged as this one. But okay.

I was worried that I wouldn’t read this ARC in time to review it before release day, but I could not put it down! Krystal is a fantastic writer and the characters she’s created are so real and wonderful! Indie is such a sweet character who is determined to create a life for herself. At 20, she leaves her hometown to go to uni, but four years later, she finds herself without a job and trying to avoid her abusive ex-boyfriend. When Pax re-enters her life, things start to take a turn for the better. She moves back home, finds work and her own home. She gets to reconnect with her mother and friends. This story isn’t a fluffy romance. It deals with childhood trauma, complicated and abusive relationships and grief. That being said, the romance between Indie and Pax is electric! The way they love each other is so beautiful. Pax is a great character, someone who is fighting his own demons, but also looking after everyone around him. The epilogue was perfect! I highly recommend reading this!

This book is just- everything. It’s gritty, emotional, raw, it’s a tale of an epic love you feel right to the bone. It touches on subjects that are so real that you feel every moment of the journey with our MC’s.
And Pax, Pax is my newest swoon worthy book boyfriend. He’s possessive, he’s alpha through and through. Indigo grows and develops into a strong amazing woman that you can’t help but admire. Then there’s the amazing side characters that just bring it all together.
There’s is nothing I didn’t like about this book.
I’m sticking it in my top 10 for 2022

I received an ARC for a honest review

This second chance romance is one of the best I’ve ever read. Hands down. 👏

“Tell yourself what you like, Blue, but when I get your little ass home, it’s fucking on,” he says, leaning down to kiss my forehead, his lips lingering long enough to line my arms with goosebumps. “I know we need to talk, but this, right here? This is our chance. I can be who you need me to be now. Let me.”

Pax, book boyfriend material? Pfft no. Book HUSBAND material.
Pax is sweet, kind and sexy. He has always put others first knowing that it may not be the thing he wants, but he does everything for others

Indie is a wreck, but throughout the book, her love for Pax brings out her true colours and her finally finding herself.

Getting Indie out of a shitty situation, they come together and finally create their happy place.

I can’t express how much I loved this book! Krystal has some serious talent creating this masterpiece that draws you in emotionally.

Also, the “Good. Ducking. Girl.” Has my panties dissolving.
Hehe

5/5🌟 would give it more if I could 😂🥰

Indigo and Paxton’s story is beautiful and emotional. It left a crack in my heart that I wasn’t prepared for. This story is full of love, hope, and healing. It’s well-paced and captured my attention from the very beginning.

Indie and Pax were once very close. It’s been four years since they’ve seen each other. When Indie’s mom tells Pax that Indie may need help he doesn’t hesitate to run to her side. With Pax’s help, Indie has returned home and Pax is claiming her.

Paxton is everything I want in a book hero. He’s a total alpha, protective and bossy. He may be fighting his own demons, but has a huge heart. When he cares, he cares hard. The tenderness he gave Indie when she needed it was beautiful.

This book will make you smile, blush, cry, and have you ready to fight. I was not prepared to cry. The plot took some twists that I did not expect.

The ending was beautiful. Through heartbreak, Indie and Pax’s HEA ends with joy. I wasn’t ready to say goodbye.

This is a complete standalone. Beware of possible trigger warnings.

This is KV second book and I’m simply blown away by her writing.

5/5 stars!! ❤️‍🩹

"𝙸 𝚕𝚘𝚟𝚎 𝚢𝚘𝚞. 𝚈𝚘𝚞 𝚔𝚗𝚘𝚠 𝚝𝚑𝚊𝚝?"
"𝚈𝚎𝚊𝚑?"
"𝙵*𝚞𝚌𝚔 𝚢𝚎𝚊𝚑, 𝚜𝚒𝚗𝚌𝚎 𝚋𝚎𝚏𝚘𝚛𝚎 𝙸 𝚎𝚟𝚎𝚗 𝚔𝚗𝚎𝚠 𝚠𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚠𝚘𝚛𝚍𝚜 𝚖𝚎𝚊𝚗𝚝"

The story follows two soulmates (yeah I said soulmates because let’s face it, they are) who learn the hard way about what it’s like to love and to feel loved. Paxton learns how to deal with his past to be ready for Indigo. Indigo learns how to love herself and accept love from others. They both have the most amazing chemistry, a mix between lust and love, the perfect balance. And to top it off, the side characters actually add value to the story which I love 🥰

Usually I always have way too much to say but I have no words!! I adore everything that is this book. Krystal has such a way with words where she paints exactly the right picture of what you want. Something you probably didn’t even realise you wanted. And like with Molly, Krystal incorporates the book playlist throughout which is something I’ll forever adore!

Everything about it felt real to me. The emotions, the story, the people, the pain and the happiness. I was constantly predicting and engaging with the story as if it was my own. It was such an amazing experience and I never wanted it to end. I will add that yes, I cried a lot and laughed and cried some more. I haven’t read a 5 star book in so long and can confirm this did not disappoint 🥹❤️

*ARC REVIEW*

4/5 stars for this beautiful smaller town second chance romance.

Pax and Indigo are so so sweet and damn did the last 30% of the book hit me right in the feels, it was so very raw and emotional. WHY DID YOU HAVE TO DO THAT TO LANA. 😭🤣

Our H Pax is so swoony and caring towards our h Indigo, as the book progresses, he just keeps on getting better! They are 10083728% down for each other at the very end and the way their relationship progressed was beautiful.

In the beginning, Pax pushes Indigo away for reasons you will eventually find out, in the time she’s moved away trying to build her life, she has a new man, however she goes through some pretty messy stuff with him, he’s a TOTAL RED FLAG, eventually they end and she moves back to her home town reconnecting with everyone.

The only thing I didn’t like about this book is I wanted to see more punishment for Michael because he damn well deserved more, even his damn father….and her father. 🤣🤣🤣

I think this book was more about trauma, grief and healing and I absolutely loved and needed something much more beautiful than the dark grungy novels I have been reading lately.

✨ARC REVIEW✨

I was graciously give this book as an ARC!

Indigo is a complete standalone. Check into triggers, there is mentions of abuse and OM trauma.

Indigo has loved her best friend all her life. She has grown from a little girl with a crush to a woman with a love in her heart. Going off to college, she has one more chance to make her feelings clear. But things don’t go according to plan, and she’s left picking up the pieces.

Pax has had a hard life. His father being an abusive alcoholic m, he leans on friends and other adults for support. Celebrating his best friends birthday, he fights his feelings for her knowing he doesn’t want to ruin their friendship. But as the years go by, he finds himself missing her.

This one hooked me. Indigos past relationships has my heart racing, in a angry throw my kindle across the room kind of way. Her ex boyfriend was a complete and utter asshole. Oh my heart swooned over Pax and how protective he was for Indigo. Pat and Indigo are soul mate material 100%

What an amazing story this was. I absolutely loved it and it had me in tears a few times! Both happy and sad. Great world building and I absolutely loves the characters too. They had all gone through a lot of difficult times but came out the other side. Blue and Pax’s relationship felt very real, the way their thoughts and feelings came through the pages really brought them to life. All in all an amazing read, I will definitely read this again.

What can I say?! This book made me laugh, cry and swoon. There is something about a second chance romance that just gets me. Pax was so patient and gentle as he helped Indie fix what he didn’t break. I loved them so incredibly much. Krystal did an amazing job showing us that even when we don’t think we can continue on love will get us through it.

SHES GONE AND DONE IT AGAIN! Krystal has written another beautiful couple that I’ve grown to love. This book was such an emotional and cute read. I laughed, I cried and I definitely swooned. I loved seeing Indie’s growth throughout the whole book. And man oh man did I fall in love with Paxton, he’s the right amount of passive and caring, just an overall loveable character. Not to mention the mouth on that man. This book will definitely give you all sorts of butterflies. I cant wait to continue reading more from Krystal and falling in love with more characters she writes in the future.

Sweet Second Chance Romance…

Pax and Indigo have been friends since they were kids. When Indigo wants to leave and go to college Pax chooses to stay behind breaking both their hearts in the process. He had his reasons but his “Blue” didn’t understand why he stopped all contact and avoided her whenever she came back to see her mom.
4 years have gone by and Indigo’s mother is worried about her and let’s it slip to Pax why.
Pax is done waiting, he goes to find Blue and bring her back home where she belongs.

Trying to pick up where they left things is a bit of a struggle. They’re not the same people and they both have been through some traumatizing events.

In this sweet yet sometimes sour small town second chance romance you will fall in love with Pax. His dedication, determination and love for Blue shines bright through this whole book.
He will stand beside her through her darkest times and be there for when she’s able to live again.

Indigo, by Krystal Veitch is a fabulous small town second chance at love romance with a fierce heroine and a dirty talking protective alpha that will grab a hold of your heart and take you for quite the emotional journey—so buckle up my friends! It’s well worth the ride ;)

Pax and Indigo were childhood friends, however when Indigo opted to go away for college, Pax made the choice to stay behind—leaving them both heartbroken at the loss of the other. And regardless of the reasons why, their friendship paid the price. Especially when Pax made sure to avoid Blue as much as possible whenever she came back, ignored her calls and made no effort to keep in touch. So Blue moved on…and paid a steep price for it.

But luckily the past can’t stay buried forever and four years later everything changes one night when indigo’s mom sees something that worries her and let’s it slip to Pax, immediately sending him on his way to find Blue and hopefully bring her back home. Where she’ll be safe. However past pains and traumas don’t make it easy for these two once best friends that have grown up and apart, even if their connection is still as strong as ever and their feelings only growing stronger. Can they both overcome their painful pasts to accept a new beginning or are they doomed to repeat the past all over again?

I absolutely loved Blue and Pax together!!! No matter what happened, or how many years may have gone past, you could literally feel their passion, dedication and devotion through the pages and Krystal seriously knows how to grab on yo your heart strings and never let go! Seriously. If you’re a fan of second chance romances with gorgeous swoon worthy dirty talking tattooed heroes and fiercely dedicated beautiful heroines then this is the one for you!

Pax and Blue. My heart broke into a million peaces and then was put together. These two are the perfect duo. This was one of the best, haands down, second chance romances I ever read. It brought out all the emotions, from happines, sadness, anger, love, affection...all of them.

I was hucked, and I mean REALLY HUCKED, from page one. Paxton is an amazing man who had a lot to deal with as a kid and a young man. We don't get to see the real reason why he let Indigo go, but it made soo much sense when you find out why.

Indigo, or Blue as Pax calles her, is such a firce and amazing woman. I hated reading about what she had to go thrue with that jerk of an ex. A lot of it legit made me cry. I hate Michael sooo frikin' much I wanna unalive him myself.

“𝘛𝘢𝘭𝘬 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯. 𝘐 𝘧𝘶𝘤𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶."

Overall, I really loved this story a lot and I enjoyed all the small town vibes and the side characters and friendshiops in this book. Also, the spice didn't hurt either. 😈😈

Beyond anything you will read!

He has been part of her life as far back as she can remember.  Paxton Shepard was never Not there.  Every year since she'd been old enough to know what love was, she's made a wish that he would see her as more than just his friend. To her, he's her world. After 20 years,  she finally reveals her wish. He breaks her heart when he declines to leave with her for the city. She is going to find out life is more difficult than she bargains for.

He couldn't stand to let her leave their small town, but his Blue had to go out and spread her wings.  He was never going to leave home, or Jagger, his little brother, to the savage home life they'd lived.  The only light in his world besides his brother was the maternal love of Indie's mother. She would always make sure the boys had food and a warm embrace to escape to when they needed it.

Four years goes by without any contact is torture,  but when her mother informs him that Indigo could be in danger, he drops everything to become her protector, and convinces her that it's time to come home. He gives her a job at the auto repair shop he owns with Jagger.  He finds her a place of her own, but that isn't all she wants from him. Will he finally decide to make her wish come true?

I am completely broken.   The level of emotion throughout this novel...   this is only the second time that an author has made me cry.  The only way to describe it is steamotional! Every emotion is described with such intensity. My heart is going to be a long time recovering from this one. I'd give this a hundred stars, if I could!

★★★★. Second chance or missed opportunities where the mmc/fmc have always loved each other is always a win in my books . Add in that last 30% where you are sobbing your eyes out to where you can’t see the words on the pages? A major win. The reason for 4 stars is because I do wish Indigo pushed a little bit when Pax came back. While I love she wasn’t waiting on him all those years, the second he came back she gave in…like a little push wouldn’t have hurt anybody.

I loved this book. I loved the characters, the plot and the writing. I wasn’t bored and didn’t find myself skimming. Indigo was so strong and I loved seeing her grow after her piece of shit ex boyfriend. Reading what he did to her and how he took away any confidence she had in herself was HEARTBREAKING. The author really decided to give her all the sad parts with that last 30% because WHY WAS THAT NEEDED?

Pax, he was perfect. Fell in love with Indigo but sent her away knowing she could be something great and wanting to be a better man for her. While I love my men in these tropes to be loyal, I didn’t mind that he slept with two woman while she was gone because of the circumstances that happened in. I love how once he got her again, he didn’t let go and he opened up about everything. Him and Jagger. My heart broke with their past and I’m so happy they both got a happy ending.

*Please let me back in, Blue. Please. I can't stand this silence anymore. I don't know what to do. This wall you've built between us is scaring the shit out of me. Where are you?
You're so deep inside your head I can't reach you. Please, just give me something. I love you. I love you so fucking much.”

Krystal, you beautiful, precious woman. I’m so grateful to be part of your journey. To see you release your debut, to releasing this absolute gem of a book. You’re going so far. Be so proud of yourself!

The saying, “right person, wrong time,” definitely comes to play here. Before leaving for college, Indigo throws caution to the wind and lays all her cards on the table. Ultimately, Pax pushes her away. But their story is far from over.

In the 4 years Indigo’s been gone, life hasn’t shown her much kindness. If you’ve ever lost yourself trying to love another, you’ll relate to her. She’s a shell of who she once was. Torn down by cruel words and actions. When Pax hears of Indigo’s troubles, it’s time to finally step in. Let the journey back to one another begin.

I adored Pax and Indigo. These two are precious together. But Pax is quite literally everything. He’s been through, yet overcome so much. Protective alpha? Of course. Delivering the spice? Duh. Keeping his girl caffeinated? Always. Watching countless reruns of Gilmore Girls to keep her happy? You know it. Need I say more? 😍👏🏻

You’ll fall in love with these characters, and I do mean all of them. Krystal just has a way of making secondary characters so special to the story. You’ll hurt for Indigo, because she really does go through it. If you’re like me, you’ll cry (that was rough 😭). But you’ll feel so much happiness for these two, the love they so clearly share. So, please read! I loved this, Krystal. 🤍🥹

Wow! What a story and what a connection these characters have!!

Indigo & Pax grew up around each other, and as Indie says, “I loved you before I even knew what that word meant.” It was true! But like any story, there are trials, there are hardships, and there is heartbreak.

At 20 years old, Indie made the decision to move to the city for university. Leaving behind the man she loves not because she wanted to but because he told her to go.

4 years later when things have gone bad with her abusive ex boyfriend, Pax & Indie find themselves together once again. Moving Indie back to their home town to reconnect with not just Pax but her mother & her friends.

Like every good love story we have the back and forth of learning to love again. Indie has a lot she needs to overcome from her previous relationship but also her hurt of what happened between her and Pax 4 years ago. But let me tell you Pax is so patient and so freaking loving. It was so perfect! Their love was not easy, they had so much to overcome and when a major heartbreak happened, Pax had to be strong for Indie in a way not many could be!

This book was so well written! I giggled, I gasped, I swore, and I bawled like a freaking baby! A writer that can make a reader feel that many emotions is doing something right, and this is only this authors second novel! Good things to come, I can feel it!!
