In the dead of the night on August 14, 1947, at the cusp of a new era, as a throng of people on the street were celebrating, Bhavna let out a scream, so loud, and pushed her baby out. It was special—both Indya and India were born.
A few days later, the boundary line to divide Pakistan and India was laid. The two nations that waited decades for the hard-earned freedom were not prepared for that. Families separated, friends estranged, women raped, and the killings increased with every passing day.
Amidst those turmoil, a family with a just born baby, Indya, risked everything, only to reach home. Were they able to survive history’s greatest migration ever?
Keerth is a 1997-born doctor by profession and a writer by passion, originally hailing from a small town in Tamil Nadu, Tirunelveli, and currently working as a Medical Officer in Odisha. The two things that fascinate her the most are ancient civilisations and outer space.
Book : 732 Miles Writer : Dr.Keerth Publisher :Inkfeathers Publishing Pages : 182 🔆My heartfelt thanks to Jeya for introducing this book to me . And sending big hugs to Dr.Keerth for letting me to enjoy this beautoiful journey of 732 Miles . 🔆As a student who preparing for competitive exams myself , I read about Radcliff line a lot of times . There are a lot of painful stories from both the sides of India and Pakistan . I read somewhere , the line they drew went inside the houses of people , where it looked one side to India and another side to Pakistan . 732 Miles talks about a painful stroke that went in the hearts of the friends (Kabir, Daya and Ibhrahim ). 🔆For some reason I got reminded of the grandfather who appeared for one scence in Kanathil Muthamittal movie directed by Mani Ratnam Sir , when I read about Devi Ma who refused to leave her place , after the partition . 🔆I got reminded of my history class, while reading Taxila University , Radcliff line , Malik Kafur , Kakatiya kingdom and Peacock throne. Her proper research towards those historical events are highly appreciated . 🔆Having different religions and different gods should not result in difference among the people. Countless number of lives were lost after the line was drawn . The British throwed us a big trauma which still affects the both the people of India and Pakistan . Day by day , vengeance and anger were increasing , which can be witnessed not only on the borders but in our living rooms too at the time of India , Pakistan cricket match . 🔆I know my words cant justify my love towards the book . Grab this book and read , I am sure you will not be disappointed . Honestly one of the best redas of 2022. 🔆Last but not least , I felt really happy after reading Keerth’s acknowledgement page . I haven’t read such a beautiful gesture of thanks . Billion thanks for your book . Sending you hugs .

We celebrated 75 years of Independence last month, the entire nation has been celebrating that day every year, we see it as a day of long fought freedom, as a day of long lost independence gained back.. But do we know that this day marked the beginning of another struggle for thousands of people? People who were forced to make a decision of staying in their homes or crossing the declared boundary line in order to live.. And even then, they might lose their lives and loved ones in the process..
732 miles describes the life of one such family who are desperate to reach India from Rawalpindi after the announcement of the boundary line separating India and Pakistan. It reflects the story of thousands of people who faced this back in 1947.. Were they able to reach India? What problems did they face during their journey? And, how did they face it when their closest friend betrayed them? Read the book to know their story..
The book was quite fast paced and I just couldn't put it down; the author keeps you hooked to the pages with her brilliant narration and simple writing. She somehow captures the essence of the 1940s era with her vivid descriptions of the scenery and the characters; the sketches throughout the book were amazing and pretty detailed... Not sure if I got it correctly, but everytime Kabir and Bhavi leaped to the next lap of their journey, we see a map with their travel line depicted by the mode of transport (footpaths for walk, train lines for train journey etc). Kudos to the illustrator for capturing every single detail
The thing I loved the most about this was the factual and historical notes the author has included in between the story.. I've always felt confused whole historical fiction as to what is real and what is fiction. This book didn't give way for such doubts.. We could see the efforts that went in behind narrating every such historical event in the book..
🌄It's a story narrated in the times of partion of 1947, which resulted in division of British India in two independent dominion's, India and Pakistan. The partition itself leads to so much insurgency and insurgents with tons of refugees with no place to go.
🌄 With the new dawn of these two new lands also came the opportunity and scope of hates, agendas, tragedies, hope, malice, love and many more. It's a surviving story of the couple with a newborn, amidst the chaos of partition.
🌄The details of real events have been pinned down smoothly within the story. From major events to minor incidents from history of partition. The story is said to be inspired by real events, though there were countless stories unheard during these times. Each and every individual holds their own stories.
🌄Emotions were pinned down greatly either it's fear or excitement, love or joy, compassion or hatred, that were all experienced by the people. There is also a message of peace and compassion towards other people above religion that has been conveyed by the means of this book.
🌄A short read yet gripping read. The illustrations make it easy to portray certain situations. A lucid narration inspired by real events makes it more than enough to be your next read.
The man who doesn't even visited India wrote the fate of millions of people in the name of independence. Even though we celebrate the independence and freedom every day, we forget to remember the struggles and the pain behind it. This book did a great job in explaining how the partition made the human beings do things which no one can imagine, how friends and neighbours turned into enemies, how everything gets messed up when hatred is loosened.
It was so fast paced I finished it in a day and I would recommend whoever is reading this to do the same so that we can feel the impact.
Amidst, all the chaos how people still chose to be kind to others and how kabir chose to be what he is truly mesmerizing. The ending indeed broke my heart.
732 Miles is a well written intense short read by Dr. Keerth this book is set during the violent and troubling time of the Indo Pak partition. In the dead of the night on August 14, 1947, at the cusp of a new era, as a throng of people on the street were celebrating, Bhavna let out a scream, so loud, and pushed her baby out. It was special - both Indya and India were born. Were they able to survive history's greatest migration ever? Reading this book was really a heart wrenching experience for me the author has done a great job in showing the plight of the people on both sides of the border. Through the characters this book really encapsulates the pain, terror and the sadness felt by the victims, in a way that will make all the readers tear up. This book really shows how religious hysteria can really push humans to do really bad stuff. But on the other hand it also shows the good side of humans as no matter how dark things get some people will always help others and there is always hope. Moreover the way the author made me connect to all of the characters emotionally despite its short size is just mind blowing. I'll conclude by recommending this book to everyone please do read it. If you like intense short reads or books set during the partition or are looking for a book to cry then you'll love this. Be warned though there are quite a few trigger warnings.
"Partition" the emotion behind this word itself is quite contradictory. The people of both India & Pakistan witnessed one of the largest genocides in world history after the partition. We already have a huge amount of documents, books, datas regarding this topic.I'm fortunate enough to read some of those popular writings and honestly that's the point which grabbed my attention on this book. I thought what more could be written about this? With that little bit of doubt in mind I picked up 732 miles by DR.KEERTH. I think the emotion behind this story is truly sensitive. Writing a plot based on the partition era is not a piece of cake for everyone. An event that displaced between 10 and 20 million people along religious lines, creating overwhelming calamity in the newly-constituted dominions doesn’t require any further introduction. While going through the blurb I found a really emotional line "It was special--both Indya and India were born", Well I shall resist myself to write a lot about It's synopsys to avoid any kind of spoilers. On that very crucial moment of history, when violence, hatred, extremism, communalism crossed all boundaries, violent nature of the partition created an atmosphere of hostility and suspicion between India and Pakistan that affects their relationship to this day; the family of Indya risked everything. We don't know what will happen to them. Will they be able to deal with the situation! Well you need to read the book to find out the remnant. It's a fast paced page turner with an outstanding plot along with some essential timeless life lessons. The story completely justifies It's title.A book you want to read cherish, introspect & also want others to read as well.

He names her daughter Indya because he wanted to come back to the motherland, and she was born during Indo Pak partition. 🔺The book is written in such a smooth flow, it will keep you hook till the end. The climax🥺how even the closest people and betray you, the strength to survive, the urge to step on the "motherland"🌟a beautiful story indeed! 🔺How badly were people treated, how they were forcefully kept on the borders of Kashmir, despite all that does Kabir succeeds in saving his wife & daughter's life? 🔺Does he stay alive? Kabir and Bhavna just had their new born when the Radcliffe's boundary line that was to divide India & Pakistan was announced. There was shock wave on both sides of the border. Muslims were targeting Hindus and Hindus were targeting Muslims. Kabir knew that Bhavna being a hindu was now not safe in Rawalpindi. He decided to take Bhavna and their new born to India by crossing the border. Amongst all this Kabir finds himself in a Pakistani military camp which is planning a huge attack on Srinagar. Read the book to know what happens next...
#bookreview '732 miles' is a book which is based on true events. The story revolves around the partition of India. The narration was engaging all throughout. There was so much of emotions oozing out of the words. There was always this excitement as to what will happen next. The author has highlighted the horrors of partition very well. It was so heartbreaking. There are illustrations and notes in the book which made the reading experience altogether more interesting. I loved how the author has highlighted the information related to partition in the notes. The language is easy and anyone can read this book. Even beginners can go for it.
Lastly, with this story the author wants to convey that we should not fight over religion instead fight for what is right.
India marked the 75th anniversary of independence on 15 August 2022. The “Jewel in the Crown” of the British Empire became independent in 1947, after two centuries of colonial occupation and exploitation. As Britain left, the Indian subcontinent was hurriedly split in two: Hindu-majority India and mostly Muslim Pakistan. This precipitated one of the biggest-ever movements of humanity as millions of people, uprooted from areas their families had inhabited for generations, rushed to be on the right side of the new border.
732 Miles by Dr Keerth is a historical fiction based on the above event. Kabir and Bhavi are one amongst the millions who had to cross the border that right after giving birth to their first baby. These two are ready to do no matter what to cross the border and reach India. It is during their journey they face numerous events and problems and weather they overcome them is to be read in the book.
With strong character development combined with easy and fluid language, the author has managed to show the love between the two amidst all the prevailing conditions. The story is paced well as much as necessary and the author had done detailed research on the events that stretched during and after the partition. Kudos to the author for picking up such a sensitive subject and coming out with a fabulous tale in her first attempt as an author.
Recommending all as I consider 732 Miles as my best reads of this year till now.

I have read quite a decent number of books based on Partition that took place in 1947 that divided people into two countries, India and Pakistan. This one left a special mark in my heart for many reasons. I loved it wholeheartedly and I was immersed in it throughout.
If you prefer to read Historical fiction then this can be a light and engaging read for you.
It's a story of Bhavi and Kabir, a couple with their newly born daughter Indya and their story of survival when the whole country is burning with rage.
When the partition line is announced, people are forced to change sides and cross borders but it isn't easy to do just that. As we all know, both sides were killed, women were raped, families committed suicide in order to die with dignity and fear filled the People who had desire to reach home.
In the midst of chaos, Bhavi and Kabir are all set to reach India along with their daughter Indya and Abhi who is Son of Kabir's friend, Daya.
It was heart-wrenching at many places that I had to stop before continuing it again. The Author has done an impeccable work with her writing. There are some amazing illustrations included in the book which makes the experience even more better. Additionally, the Author has provided details about the situation at that time here and there throughout the story. I found it quite helpful and I am sure, other readers would appreciate the same. I definitely recommend this one.
"732 Miles" is a poignant and powerful novel by Dr. Keerth that takes readers on a journey through one of the most violent and troubling times in history - the Indo Pak partition. The author's portrayal of the experiences of the characters is heart-wrenching, encapsulating the pain, terror, and sadness felt by the victims.
The book illustrates the destructive impact of religious hysteria and the profound impact it can have on humanity. However, it also reveals the resilience of the human spirit and the capacity for people to show compassion and kindness, even in the darkest of times.
Despite its short length, the author has done a remarkable job of connecting readers emotionally with the characters.
I highly recommend this intense short read to anyone who is interested in historical fiction, especially stories set during the partition. However, it is essential to note that this book contains some trigger warnings, so be prepared for an emotional journey.
To say that reading such a wonderful piece of work after so long made my week would be an understatement. Along with a strong writing style and a great flair for storytelling, Dr Keerth is able to keep us hooked from the first page to the last. The illustrations in the book are so beautifully drawn that they add a more picturesque essence to the image we paint in our minds while reading. I personally love such a style of writing, where, with creative use of simple language, each scene comes alive right off the pages. I would read it over again.
On Aug 15 1947, Communities that had coexisted for almost a generation across the Indian subcontinent began to attack one another in a horrifying wave of violence. Massacres, arson, forced conversions, mass kidnappings, and brutal sexual assaults marked a particularly violent period of destruction. 732 miles is a story that stirs you up with questions like, Who instilled that only one religion must exist? And how come any religion that preaches love, can instruct to follow violence?
732 miles is about a man whose patriotism outweighs ideas painfully branded onto the regional consciousness. It’s about a woman that never gave up on her beloved ones. It’s about a newborn whose life course flipped over the moment she was born. It’s about a young boy who lost his entire known world in a matter of minutes. 732 miles depicts it all —The betrayal, the promises, the love, the hate, the fire, the calm, the patience, and the urge.
It's unbelievable that a debut author crafted this historical fiction. Loved it!
What a book and what a journey! Just felt the seat edge thriller with romance love betrayal and everything. Not everyone within your territory are friends and not everyone who are in enemy territory will be an enemy. Hope they make a movie with this book. Completed in one stretch and re read twice within a week. Kudos to the author and thank you for making my day better. If possible please write a book every year.
