Swiped for His Taking

Rate this book
I came, I saw, I wanted.

When I laid eyes on Milana, I knew immediately I had to have her. It didn’t matter to me she was supposed to go on a date with someone else. It didn’t even matter if I had to pretend to be said blind date. I knew she belonged to me and I’d have her even if the whole world was against me.

He came, he saw, he wanted.

I’ve stumbled a lot in my life. My middle name should be “oops.” Things don't always go my way which is why I'm shocked when the date my best friend set me up on turns out to be a gorgeous man that sweeps me off my feet. He's too handsome and charming for anyone's good. He has heartbreak written all over him. Even though he’s determined not to let me out of his sight now, I’m afraid if I give in, it will be the biggest mistake of my life once he realizes all those oops I make aren't as adorable as he thinks.

***4.5 STARS***

Thoroughly enjoyed this novella by Ella Goode. Hero was perfect with a touch of dark/morally gray.

What kept this from being a 5 star read was the best friend of the heroine who was aggravating. She was overly possessive of the heroine and butted in their relationship too much.

Highly recommend this read.

DNF AT 40%

now Ella goode has some good books but this one I couldn't stand. The heroine was just a walking talking mess and not in a good way.
Her "oops" whenever she made a mess was annoying. But that's not why I dnf.. the reason THE BEST FRIEND!!!
A SIDE CHARACTER WHO YOU JUST CANT STAND!!!!
I kid you not she was the most annoying person on the planet. It was like she was in control of the heroines life.
And not in a good way. Another reviews gave more info that the best friend got worse... im glad I dnf

The thing that annoyed me the most was the h's friend, Lauren. Why is she in the picture, can she pls go get a life. And I don't know if its only me, but why tf is the friend so fucking curious about the h's sex life. Let people live bitch. If the h's okay with the H not using condom, who tf are you to interfere.

Bcos of her appearance every fucking time, it felt like she's a 3rd wheel in their relationship. The only time the main leads were together was during their first date. Other time, that Lauren bitch HAS to be there.

Edit:

I wanna add another thing. The h got hurt so they went to the doctor. The doctor told that she is clumsy because she has anxiety disorder.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but how can a doctor diagnose mental health problems after only one session of diagnosis? From what I heard, doctors diagnose mental health problems after multiple consultations right?

This issue really irks me, because the author didn't describe anything about how the h is feeling before being clumsy... And anxiety is normally a feeling that grows and suffocates you... But I guess the author want this to be a light, fluffy story

I realized my issue with some of these books (besides the lack of depth.) It’s the fact that a lot of times the female MC seems like an idiot. I guess it’s meant to highlight the male MC being the hero but can’t he be amazing with her not being a helpless dumbass? I get that she’s meant to be naive and innocent but it just comes across as empty headed.

But of course I will keep reading them because they are like the espresso of romance novels. It’s a shot of love that feeds that need temporarily.

My reviews always contain spoilers, I write them so I can remember the story.

Cute quick fluffy story, Jay sees Milana when she comes to a coffee shop to meet her date, her bestie Lauren put her on a dating app and set everything up. When Mila approaches Jay he pretends to be her date and whisks her away to a restaurant. We begin to see that Jay is a very powerful man, he’s mysterious and obsessed with Mila. She is very naive and goes along with what ever Jay says because she is attracted to him, Lauren is not happy that Jay is so aggressively pursuing Mila. To win points with Lauren he takes the girls to Paris for a fashion show. Mila is extremely clumsy and has an oops moment where she ruins a couture wedding dress. No worries, Jay tells the designer that he will back his new line and problem solved. Mila does ask some hard questions about what he does and accepts that Jay works in the grey zone. Lauren again tried to be the voice of reason and that leads to Mila asking more questions and getting Jay to confess his love. Their first time was cute and best part dual virgins. More sexy times and I love yous. Epilogue with them married with 4 twin boys and Mila pregnant again.
Mila and Jay were cute together, Lauren was a bit annoying but she helps further the story along.

God I haven't reviewed anything in ..... 3 months I think 😲🥺

🖤JAY-🖤

💜MILANA-💜- Ooooh I LOVE that name.😘

✅My views-

➖JUST like Darlene, I DID NOT finish this book.

➖Her constant blushing, and tripping over her feet were NOT CUTE. NOPE.

➖It was ...... annoying, and I was like GROW THE HELL UP WOMAN.

➖I am sorry but the past few books of Ms. Goode have been....monotonous.

➖This book is good enough, but it won't make you curious and it does not have that spice and excitement.

➖It's very bland tbh.

➖she needs to write something more kinky and dirty, and.... a book which has a strong heroine for once, and something with a different plot.

➖I am not saying that this one has the same plot as the others, but, it was...... boring you know, and ran parallel to her other books.

Swiped for His Taking de Ella Goode

Argumento:

Llegó, me vio, me quiso.

He tropezado mucho en mi vida.

The heroine was too stupid to live and kept dropping things, tripping over things, and saying Oops.

She meets the hero for a date and immediately tells him that her friend told her not to tell her date they live over the bakery. So she tells him right after they meet.

"Swiped for his Taking" is the story of Milana and Jay.

A social media dating trial goes very right, when the heroine ends up meeting with the "wrong" man. There is meet cute, romance and a very bred HEA.

Guy meets girl. Pretended he's her date. Spent a whole day with her then got obsessed. She fell fast and hard too. They got married, have kids, and live happily together.

This was an okay read. Didn't appreciate the bulldozing ways of the Jay, he was an alphahole imo. As for Milana, she was probably supposed to be quirky and cute with her clumsiness but all she ever did was annoy the crap out of me.

The only thing I liked in this book was Lauren. She was a solid friend through and through. Had Milana's back all the time, was the voice of reason when her bff was being enchanted by Jay. She was the sane person in their friendship and I'm glad Lauren never left Milana unlike the other friends in fictional books who'll push their friends towards the MMC even when he's a walking red flag.

This novella didn't work for me, it wasn't bad at all. Just that the characters were merely annoying with their antics.

just a lot of inconsistencies and small things that make no sense logically.
one example being the interaction the H and h have when they enter her apartment.
he carries her to the first bedroom he sees, asks "is this your room?", she says "yes, how did you know?", and he responds "because we're connected, so i just know".
and im like..... okay but he asked if it were her room???? like, that made zero fucking sense beyond the fact that it sounds romantic if you are incapable of following a simple couple lines of dialogue.
if i remember correctly, this author doesn't usually have this kind of incoherence problem in her work, so im hoping this book was a fluke.

It's an easy and funny story.

Very light and cute because it's absolute love at first sight between a clumsy, adorably innocent girl and a dubious investor who practically kidnaps her from her blind date to claim her for his own. That there started the fun for me.

The hero finds her disastrous clumsiness totally endearing and his duty to protect her, while the heroine has a friend who is part of the process of their relationship as her first protector.

The various scenes certainly draw a continuous smile. And it's really hot, too! I enjoyed the different settings and the mix of cute and kinky. The epilogue was perfect, too.

I loved everything about this book. Ella hit the nail on the head with this one. This is the reason I keep coming back to read her books. She has a way with making the hero so obsessive and possessive in all the best ways. Let's all just agree Ella Goode can write the best heroes. ❤

4 stars only because the MMC was a goner and because Dax is a cutie

This is standard Ella Goode, FMC who is epitome of naivety and MMC who is heads over heels for her
minus the incensing use of the word - oops and side characters, I really liked this one book

** 3.5 Stars **

If any of you here are deep into romance novellas, you probably know Jessa Kane. I have read 19 of her stories consecutively over the past month and JESUS H. CHRIST I needed a break.

Emma Goode's Swiped for His Taking was a nice reprieve.

The Pro's:
* Gangster x Civilian
* Insta-Love
* Consensual kidnapping
* No Daddy Kink (FU Jessa Kane, I have trauma)
* Clumzy, cute heroine - Mila
* Suave, protective hero - Jay

The Cons:
* The name, they say don't judge a book by it's cover (or in this case title), but this one is so cringey it makes me giggle. Like I get that it's a double-entendre, swiped like dating apps, and swiped like how he kind of kidnaps her. But still... it's weird.
* Jay, beyond being devoted to Mila, didn't have much of a personality / prior history. He, as a character was completely overshadowed by his obsession with Mila. I think this was also not helped by the fact that he was the second character introduced and we only saw him post-meeting Mila. I did pick up on some nods to the fact he'd isolated himself in life but also that really wasn't explored or expanded on.
* Dialogue and descriptors did make me cringe at some points. There were moments where Ella Goode even supplied actions/descriptions like "Mila responded sassily."And even though that was influencing or modifying the scene/statement, it felt like it was forcing me to read it that way when it really wasn't that sassy. And because that was Mila's form of a sassy response, it made her seem WAYYY more vanilla in my eyes. This was not limited to just Mila as well, Jay absolutely had similar moments. I don't know, this could just be my issue.

Overall this was good, and I've got a few more Ella Goode novellas in my catalogue to read.

I loved this from the start. Two best friends look out for each other. One is a klutz with a more innocent belief in people and the world than the one who basically becomes her bodyguard.
A friendship like that is so rare and the fact that the hero brought the best friend into the mix, NOT just because she was sticking to them like melted gum on a shoe…but because he knew his soulmate loved the friend as a sister. (They kinda argue like siblings…well sorta).
The romance is so sweet. I mean yes, Jay is most definitely in a “questionable like of work” and he most definitely is obsessed about Mila…but it has a sweetness non the less.
Also, Mila is not a “kick ass” heroine and i will say it: i am glad! After a bit you dont want a kick ass woman but ya want one who has 2 brain cells as well.
Mila, in my opinion, cares enough about others to
show she has a kick ass HEART. And yes, more thab 2 brain cells. Maybe a little gullible believing Jay at first. But she has a brain.
And on that note: the only point i wanted to slap Jay was SPOILER ALERT!!

At end where he tells Mila he didnt think she was showing to be too committed to him…DUDE! She was so lost in love she was excusing the mega watt security and all the extras that Jay was getting at ease (i.e. the entire Parish trip)

Otherwise. Good enough that i am buying this one! Yes. I have prime u limited reading…but there are some ya buy anyway.

HOPE: maaabe we can revisit the kids as adults. 4 brothers protecting one klutz sister! Could be comedy gold!

4.67 stars! It wasn’t a complete five since it was a bit shorter than I wanted it to be but everything else so so good!

Sigh. This book. It had everything I wanted and more. 😍😍😍 i love the mistaken identity trope and when she thinks hes her date from a dating app that her friend put her on, he completely bamb0ozles her 😈😈 The dude is seriously so obsesssed with this girl and where he hates being away from her. He wants to breeed her, hold her all the time and other stuff...... 😍😍😍😍😍😏. He’s rich af so he takes her out to the beat restaurants, takes her and her bestie in the private jet to Paris for fashion shows and takes such good care of her 🥹 he even gets mad for not catching her when she falls on a couture dress while in Paris. She's A clutzy, no filter type of girl which I no way, no how relate to 🤔👀

There is a scene where she's at a male underweEear photo shoot that shes editing photos at and he goes cr@zy 😂😂😂

Sigh. Anyhoo. It's not dark but I effing loved it. if anyone has any reccs similar to this, the wrong/right man by aurora rose reynolds, wall street titan by Anna zaire, etc please let me know 😁 No thanks needed for giving you the rec

Well, this was interesting. I picked this up because I'm kind of a sucker for heroes who will do anything it takes to get the girl, and man did Jay ever do everything in his power to get Mila. He was pretty obsessive and possessive, but since Mila was on board the whole time, it never got to be too creepy. I liked Mila with all her clumsiness, but I also appreciated that she was willing to stand up for herself and demand things of Jay. It helped balance out their intense relationship. Mila and Jay's relationship was really physical, and there were quite a few scenes throughout this story. Lauren was a great best friend for Mila, and I appreciated that she told Mila straight out about her thoughts and made sure that her friend was taken care of. If you like steamy and intense, kind of obsessive heroes, give this one a shot. I read it in one sitting, and it's not too overly complicated, though I can see Jay not appealing to everyone. Either way, it worked for me in the moment, and that's all a reader can ask for.

A blind date leads to everything she could have ever wanted

If you are a fan of obsessive, possessive, alpha males and klutzy, accident prone, but hilarious women, then this book will be your new favorite. I loved Mila and Jay right from the start! Their meeting is everything you could expect and then some. They meet when Mila heads to a blind date, but one look at her and Jay would never let her on a date with someone else. He hijacks her date and is determined to then win her heart.

I also really loved her friend Lauren. That is friendship goals at its finest. Wanting to help her out of her shell, but only so far so that she can be protected. Here’s hoping for a romance starring Lauren!! There’s tons to love in this hour long (give or take) romance!! Plenty of sweet and tons of spice! Jay can’t get enough of Mila and it definitely shows! His obsession of her quickly becomes mutual and I loved everything about it!

Sometimes you know it’s right immediately.

I loved this story. It was sweet obsession that was entertaining and enjoyable. The characters were interesting and likable although I had questions about Jay that I would have loved to have answered. Lauren was an amazing friend to Mila (Milana). She was supportive, willing to push Mila out of her comfort zone, and also willing to tell Mila that maybe pumping the brakes would be a good thing. Mila was wonderful. She epitomized all the things that make each of us kind of cringe and want to hide away from the world. Jay was a man that knew what he wanted and didn’t let anything stand in his way of getting it. He was protective and possessive of Mila while trying to make sure that she was happy. I loved their happily ever after. I recommend reading this book.

Cute and spicy

This was a very cute and very spicy read. It was very well written, I couldn't put it down. These two are very cute and their instalove story was perfect for them. She's at a cafe for a meet up with someone who she doesn't know what he looks like because her friend set it up online. He walks in and instantly falls in love, before she even realizes that he isn't her date he has her out the door and enchanted with him. Can't wait to see if the friend gets her own story in the future.

But Mila's best friend Lauren is there to protect Mila. This is a fast steamy fall in love immediately love story between Mila and Jay with Lauren there to make sure Jay treats Mila right. lots of hilarious parts and a fun sexy read.

Not my cup of tea

I love a fast-moving sexy insta-love story. This just seemed too bizarre for me. Never really got a feel for what Jay's work was and I didn't get any closure on how the BFF came around to team Jay. I enjoy all of Ella's Goode's books and there were definitely parts of this I enjoyed. I even lol-ed at times. I wouldn't discourage anyone from reading this though.

1 controlling MMC - Jay.
1 clumsy FMC - Milana.
1 overly protective best friend - Lauren.
1 meet-cute in a cafe where Jay pretends to be Mila's blind date after meeting her for 2 seconds and becoming instantly obsessed. He whisks her away, buys her nice things, and catches her every time she starts to fall..which is like every 15 minutes or so.
1 brief epilogue with 2 sets of twin boys running around and a baby girl on the way.
