Keep Her Safe

Rate this book
She'll do whatever it takes...
Barely into her 30s, Laura Ryan was living the perfect life. She had everything she thought she wanted until the moment her mother-in-law passed away. Instead of leaving her fortune to Laura's husband, her son, she skipped a generation and left the house and £5m to her granddaughter, under the supervision of her parents, who must both agree and sign for any spending on Sienna's behalf...unless one of them were to die, then the other would have full control of the money.
So, is it a coincidence when the same blue car almost hits Laura three times? She doesn't think so, but the police aren't interested. When The Organisation hears about it, they jump in to offer help, and Cat Roger's is dispatched, with one instruction: Keep Her Safe.
Cat Rogers had been with The Organisation for a while now. Her police background and sense of justice made her the ideal operative. In her 40s now, she’d seen her fair share of, mostly women, ignored by the laws of the land and left to their own devices, and she didn’t like it, not one bit. Especially someone as beautiful and endearing as Laura Ryan.
On the run for their lives, Cat soon discovers that attraction isn’t so easily ignored, and protecting Laura and Sienna soon becomes more than just a job.

I enjoyed some if Claires books very much and this one is also a entertaining read. A bodyguard - mother - daughter story with a age-gap. Interesting storyline with an organization which rights some wrongs in their own ways.

One of the things I always know when I pick up a book by Claire Highton-Stevenson is that there won’t be any boring moment. And once more I was right with this belief.

This story is a combo between a crime and a love story. It is fast paced and never seems to slow down. Something I very much enjoyed. At first the romance plays a bit of an underlying role, what’s more important is that Cat keeps Laura and her daughter Sienna safe from her husband. A husband to whom money is more worth than his wife and daughter.

Whenever it seems they are safe from him, things change and the chase or rather run continues. The longer the book goes on, the more the tension increases. But there is also something else that increases which is the attraction between Cat and Laura. Aside from this there is another thing I very much enjoyed. The moments we got with Laura’s daughter Sienna were just wonderful. She even got her own chapters with her POV. That was a bit surprise at first but again something I totally enjoyed because it’s not what you often get in books in this genre.

I don’t don’t wanna give away too much about what happened when, but when you love a romance book that is combined with lots of action in it, this is your book. I definitely highly recommend it.

I received an advance reader copy from the author and voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.

I really enjoyed this book! It had romance, it had action and it had one of my favorite tropes (bodyguard/protectee) 🥰 What a lovely way to spend Sunday afternoon. And I’ll definitely check the other books written by this author. Really like the way she writes.

The premise of this book is intriguing but I found it rather lacking. The tension and fear were just never there. And the romance? Or is it lust? Just no.

I kept hoping it would turn around because I could see it happening. It got a bit better around the half way mark, but it just fell short on delivering all the feelings you’d need with a book like this.

An engaging, action packed story. Romance wasn't at the center of the plot but it created a good balance at the end.

I was intrigued by the story from the beginning. 25% in I am interested in the story, on the cusp of being gripped possibly, but not quite.
For someone in fear of her life, Laura is pretty trusting! I hope the mains are who I think they are or this will be a whole different book than I am expecting.
As someone with a normal life, I do find aspects of the book hard to believe (I know it’s not a documentary! But….) However the author is pulling me in and I am definitely interested in how it will all work. As the book continues I am more impressed with the authors use of The Prologue. It puts that sneaky “is she who she says she is” distraction on the back foot.
About 40% in the tension ramps up a bit. The cause was perhaps slightly over signposted but generally it was well done. The tension remains for the majority of the book. When the issue is sorted the writer teases us a bit. That is also enjoyably done. A solid 3. A good balance of tension and romance.

An abused wife who husband is trying to kill…. Ok, Ok, stretches the imagination but a ‘fun’ book with strong, believable characters, good holiday read. Recommended.

Passionate!

Laura’s mother-in-law passes away leaving her fortune to her granddaughter Si, rather than her own son and Laura’s husband, Nigel. When Laura begins to wonder if her life is in danger after too many coincidences suggest someone is out to harm her or worse, she finds herself embroiled in an adventure with Cat, who only has one instruction. Keep Laura and Si safe.

This was so intense, but packed with passion and an unforgettable amount of emotion. Laura’s under a lot of pressure, scared, unsure what is happening and yet somehow just Cat’s presence is enough to add some reassurance that she is not alone. It was packed with every cute moment with Si and her mum, moments between Laura and Cat, just ones with understanding and compassion and as they all bonded during this experience you knew they were going to find more of a connection and fate had somehow brought them together.

Claire always delivers amazing, dramatic, but realistic and emotional stories. Something draws me in from the very beginning, a personalisation that makes you feel as if you know these characters before you even know that much about them. Just a situation and some emotional connection to get you invested and as soon as you are hooked it is just impossible to but the stories down. Keep Her Safe was utterly brilliant and I really felt every second of it in a very personal way that just made me love it so much!

Can’t share too much about this story without giving it all away but it was so clever. I was second guessing everything and empathised so much with Laura, but also with Cat when some vulnerability became exposed. There was so much happiness for them all to find and just really hoped they would because no one deserved it more. Cat was such a strong character, reassuring that there are such good people in the world who are selfless and care. Laura, I don’t know how she did it but she was so strong and brave and admired her greatly. Si made the story though, a cute pre-teen smarter than her years and being put through such trauma but still managing to lighten the mood; always.

A great story that a truly loved, can’t wait to read again, and highly recommend.

Can the bodyguard save a mother focused on surviving the greed, murder and running for saftey.

I received an ARC of this book but fell in love with the characters so I bought it for my collection of this authors work. What a story. It opens with intrigue and the pages are filled with daring moments throughout the book. This author creates romance on a level that will have you on the edge with desires that warm the pages. What she also does is give a thrilling set of events that make it impossible to put the book down. Cat brings all the sexy bodyguard images with the attraction of a connection that feels like home. Laura and her daughter Sienna are on the run from the man who was suppose to protect them. Greed and selfishness rule Nigels world, his wife is in the way of the millions his daughter inherited. There are twists, running, hiding and finally major confrontation all wrapped in one hot romance. I loved rooting for the weak but seeing how strong they could be together. As usual Claire has me reading suspense romance which I rarely do but the story grabs me from chapter one and the journey begins, I just love it.

A great story, Laura's husband is po'd that his mother left her house and money to their daughter Sienna. They can't spend the money left in a trust for Si unless they both sign off on it. He wants to buy a Porsche, Laura sees no reason for it. In order to get control of the money, he's going to have Laura bumped off. Laura goes to the police after several attempts at someone running her over. Laura goes to the police. They're no help, except one of them contacts the Organization to help her. That's where Cat comes in. She works for the Organization and her job is to protect Laura and Sienna. And the adventure begins! Very enthralling book! 5 stars!!

I received an ARC of this book in return for leaving an honest review.

This story was captivating from the first page! Intrigue, daring moments and romance are covered throughout the book that will keep you turning pages to see what happens.

Laura was living a comfortable life with her husband Nigel and daughter, Sienna. When her mother-in-law died, she left her house and money to her granddaughter Sienna. Laura and her husband both had to agree and sign for any money removed from the account for Sienna’s benefit. If one of them died, then control would go to the surviving parent.

Strange things started to happen when Laura refused to sign when her husband wanted to withdraw money to buy an expensive vehicle. Laura was almost run over by the same car three times. She reported it to the police who didn’t seem interested at all.

A group called the Organisation hears about it and jumps in to offer their help. Cat is dispatched to assist her with the instruction of, Keep Her Safe. Cat has an extensive background in law enforcement and sense of justice makes her the ideal candidate for this assignment.

On the run, to protect Laura and Sienna, an attraction between Laura and Cat develops. Will either one be able to resist their attraction, and will Laura and Sienna remain safe as the threat is neutralized?

Laura's despicable husband is trying to kill her so that he can oversee all of their daughter's inheritance. In steps Cat, a member of the Organization sent to protect Laura and her daughter Sienna. The entire book centers around Cat trying to protect Laura and Sienna at all costs. The are little hints throughout that show the two women are attracted to each other but it was hard to believe that they had feelings for one another due to the fact they were on the run from the hitman that Laura's husband hired to kill her.

Pros: Laura and Cat are two strong and independent women. Sienna added to the overall plot through her mere existence. Also, the tension and suspense throughout the novel are very well created.

Cons: The point of view sometimes got confusing and it took a bit of time to identify whose point of view I was reading, Also, the book at its core is not a romance.

Could not put this one down! Just when I thought things had calmed down for Cat, Laura and Laura's Daughter Sienna the story took another turn!

After her Mother-In-Law skipped over her Husband and left everything to their daughter, Laura has discovered her Husband is trying to have her killed! When the police are no help to her, Laura is contacted by the company Cat works for to help her get out alive. When Cat meets Laura and her daughter, she's immediately drawn to them and not in the way she normally is with her clients!

With constant twists and turns and both Laura and Cat hiding their attraction to each other (not well I might add) this book had me hooked right from the beginning! A slow, slow burn with a bit of angst and a lot of thrills!

The whole idea of a husband and father willing to kill to get their hands on a bundle of money was both interesting and sickening.
The bond between mother and daughter is strong in this story and the young daughter shows strength way beyond expectation as does mum who has been thrust into a nightmare only saved by Cat who is a member of a shadowy organisation which is never fully explained.
There is humour in the book as well as internal conflicts between the two women which shattered the life of Cat, the loner who learns she can have it all with a few adjustments and that even not being in the "field" will allow her to maintain her helping to bring justice for those being denied.
Really good characters and the "walk away" was a suprise albeit you just knew it would come right!

Another classic story with a twist. This is a bodyguard and client story in another name. The client and her daughter needed protecting and someone contacted them offering help when the police took no action. It was the anonymous 'The Organisation' - kind of modern day vigilantes and Robin Hood off (Cat) to protect, and fall in love with, her Maid Marion (Laura).
All well written and as you read it you can picture it happening.
Add in some sexual tension, hiding in safe houses, compromised security, and getting the baddie and you have your story.
I love a good Claire Highton-Stevenson book. And this is certainly one of those.

Some days are better with someone you enjoy being around!

Laura thought she married a good man until he tried to run over her three times. Laura's daughter had a lot of money left to her by Laura's mother until her husband got greedy. Cat was assigned to protect both of them. What follows keeps the reader involved in taking care of Laura and her daughter Sienna . From traveling to France and dodging a would be bad guy to confrontation. What happens? Along the way Cat has to come to realize who she really wants to love. Enjoy!

Good book

Laura was not happy with her marriage when she found out her husband was trying to kill her so that he may take their daughters inheritance that was left by her Grandmother. The police didn't want anything but to just to a report. An agency contacted her to help her. This books reminds me of a James Bond movie in same way. Anything to protect and keep her safe. In the mean time try and not let your heart fall in in love with the Client. A great keep you on your sit to see what happens next.

4 - Cat is an underground bodyguard and protects Laura and her daughter Sienna from her husband Nigel. During that stressful time Laura and Cat grow closer and discover a mutual attraction. It's a very good story about the bodyguard-trope and full of real nice introspection, some nice action and an overall interesting story.
Some more serious dialoge about their future, especially regarding Lauras daughter Sienna and Cats work would have put this in the 5-star rating.

Average read. Totally unrealistic story. Wife experiences several attempts on her life by a hired criminal? after her husband threatens her. Gets a phone call out of the blue, someone offering her help to deal with the situation. She trusts this stranger with her and her young daughters life... Never questioning if it is another set-up by her money greedy husband???
The rest of the story has no real tension, angst nor sexual attraction.

This is a sweet love story with little violence from The Organisation. I've read another story about a similar company of the same name, but the description of that other company was in deeper detail of their work. Anyway, I liked this book and would recommend it to anyone who just wants a sweet love story with a happily ever after.

How could anyone try to kill someone they supposedly love? This kind of thing happens too often, and for money? Just divorce the person. This story reminded me of the movie Vigilante with Olivia Wilde. Good movie and good story here as well. Most of us love a story where justice prevails. You won't be disappointed with this book.

bit of a thriller romance

This story was a page-turner. A thriller and romance rolled into one story. Just enough suspense with a side order of sexual tension. Really enjoyed all three main characters.

Equality

Interesting insights into our lack of fairness in imbalances within our so called equality society in many areas that lack true fairness and equal rights, respect, dignity, as well as compassion for all life.
