We all have private battles that we are facing, and we know that there's an enemy who wants to steal our joy and steal our peace. But we do not have to take it laying down; we do not have to be a doormat for the enemy.
We are to stabilize ourselves through God's word and fight.
But how do we fight?
In Joshua chapter 6, we read about the very famous battle of Jericho. The Lord told Joshua that he would give Jericho into his hands but he had to do something...he told them they would have to march and march and march around the city.
God made Joshua trust him for the victory.
So, every day they got up and they marched and marched around that city. On the 7th day, when they had followed exactly what God told them to do, they blew their trumpets and God miraculously made the walls fall down and they captured the city.
And then we see this happen again in Joshua chapter 10. The Israelites were fighting the Amorites and Joshua went to God and he asked God to have the sun stand still! That is a huge prayer, but God answered it. The Bible tells us that “ the sun stood still all night and the moon stopped. The sun stood still until the nation took vengeance on the enemies.” (Joshua 10:13)
God didn’t just hand the battle over to Israel.
They had to fight. All. Night. Long.
Friends, if you are battling something today and you are ready to give it to God, you had better be ready to march and march and march.
And you had better be ready to fight All. Night Long.
Now, all that marching and fighting is really just obedience. We need to believe and trust that God is in control.
God tells us over and over to not fear, and to have courage and believe. How does that believing come?
When you feel like giving up, do not let go of God!
No one else can do this reading for the next 31 days for you. But you are not alone on this journey.
Each week, I will provide for you a practical challenge of something I do in my home that makes it more of a haven. I hope you will take the challenges. They do make a difference!
Each day, we will pause, pray and meditate on God’s Word through SOAKing in the daily scripture reading for the day.
Also, on-line at WomenLivingWell.org you will find 4 videos, one per week, that correspond with the scriptures we are studying.
I can’t wait to take this journey with you! This is where our faith grows. When we hear stories like Joshua’s and we see God's faithfulness in our own lives.
Keep walking with the King,
Courtney
