9 books118 followersCatherine (Cat) Ann Russell, moved to action in 2019 to help address infant and child famine crises, writes and publishes children’s books to support organized emergency relief efforts at home and abroad through her Basketful Relief Project. She has published three children’s picture books: Get to Bed!, The Little Book of Why, and award-winning Picco and Wren Three, with an upcoming fourth book, Boo Bear’s Light: An A B C Adventure, due out at the end of the year, 2024. She also writes fantasy-adventure for Tweens called, The Pearls of Wisdom Series. Books 1-4 of this series are published: multiple award-winning The Pond of Reflection, The Hyrax Song, The Zoe-Chai Seed, and The Last Storyteller. In 2002, she owned her own video company, Spike Productions, after a career as a research scientist at the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Cat lives in Lyons, CO, with her husband, Ed, and several farm animals, including two burros named Nikki and Norman.
In 2022, The Pond of Reflection received a Readers’ Favorite gold medal in the Children’s Adventure Genre. In 2023, The Pond of Reflection received a Readers’ Favorite gold medal in Children’s Audiobook, and a silver medal for Picco and Wren Three in the Children’s Fable Genre. In 2024, The Pond of Reflection was a Book Excellence Award Winner in the Pre-Teen Category.

This book is a perfect length for younger kids and teaches a great lesson and values. Snuggle up with your family and enjoy this book! Love that there is music as well for music lovers!

Charming story about family, love, friendship and finding your own voice. Picco and Wren Three weather the challenges to climb to new levels of discovery for themselves, shared with all around them. Colorful, fun illustrations too.

Picco and Wren is such a sweet story! I appreciate the messages of collaboration, friendship and celebrating differences. Such good messages for kids to grow up with. This has both a great story and a good cadence to read aloud, a treat to read.

A sweet story!
This is a sweet little tale, perfect for young children. The plot is simple and teaches about both kindness and finding solutions. The illustrations are colorful and engaging, drawing a young reader into the story. Great bedtime story material!

This is a lovely book. It shows the love of family, and friendship and how supporting one another makes for success. A great message in a sweet depiction that engages both young and old!

A delightful story reminding children that we each have different abilities and strengths. Mama Wren and Wren Three’s siblings support him and love him even though he can’t sing like they can. The story also emphasizes the importance of friendship and lifting each other up. A winner!
