Hate Puck (Las Vegas Angels #5) by Jessa York is a contemporary forbidden second-chance sports romance told in first person, dual POV. It’s the fifth book in the Las Vegas Angels series and the first half of a duet, so it ends with a cliffhanger.
If you’ve read the previous books, you’ve already met Jillian and Cash, and you probably wondered why they’re not together when there’s obviously something between them.
Hate Puck
gets us a little closer to some answers as it explores how their relationship develops after Cash is traded to the Las Vegas Angels.
I enjoyed Jillian and Cash’s story. They are both likable, well-developed characters, with buckets of chemistry. I enjoyed their background story about how they met and fell in love on a reality dating show, and I can’t wait to find out why Jillian didn’t give Cash her final rose, instead choosing to get engaged to the other guy—a guy she can’t stand. I wonder what he’s holding over her head.
Despite the fact that Jillian has a fiancé, she can’t stay away from Cash, and they can’t keep their hands off each other. Dating among the Angels is forbidden, so they keep sneaking around. And Cash thinks they’re back together, but Jillian is keeping secrets, and one of them is that no matter how much she loves Cash, she’s not leaving her fiancé. I don’t know how they’re going to resolve everything, but I’m looking forward to finding out in
Love Puck,
the second half of the duet.
