He’s a biker. She’s a Mistress. They’ve always given one another what they want. But what happens when want moves to need?
Tiger walked away from the volatile outlaw biker world in which he was raised. As an alpha male, he embraces submission under the right woman’s control, his strong will and intimidating demeanor adding to the pleasure and challenge.
Skye Sumner has been mute since childhood. As a Mistress, she knows communication goes far beyond words. She enjoys regular sessions with Tiger inside the club, yet when Tiger’s past brings tragedy to him, taking more from him than he was prepared to lose, Skye’s own history of overcoming will be key to bringing him back –and showing them both how much more their relationship could become.

AT HER CALL is the third book in the MISTRESSES OF THE BOARD ROOM Series, each book follows one of the women that work at Thomas Rose Associates, this is Skye Sumner's story.
Skye is mute and has been since a terrible accident that occurred when she was a young child, we do find out what caused this and it was beyond devastating and we learn that being mute is more mental then physical. But it does not hold her back she has learned different ways of communicating what she wants from people especially her subs.
Tiger Roseland is one of the subs that Skye enjoys playing with at the club, they have a unique bond and that bond is something that he needs after his past reeks havoc on his present life.
I have to admit to putting this book down and walking away from it several times because it was at times difficult to get through, and that's the thing I love about Joey W. Hill's books, she writes with such a flair that you feel as if you are living right there in those pages while everything is unfolding so while in real life you may not be able to walk away from a situation that is making your heart hurt you can close a book for a little bit and then come back to it when you're ready. I will suggest not reading this book in public, not only are the sexy scenes HOT but there are plenty of times that you will find yourself with tears streaming down your cheeks without even realizing it.
Skye and Tiger are amazing together and while some horrible things had happened to make their relationship progress outside of the club I don't think I'd change anything about this story.
I would recommend this to those that enjoy STEAMY Contemporary Romances, BDSM Romances, Romances with Bikers, or Romances that have Main Characters with a Disability.
At the end of the 2nd day, I laughed, because of how far along in the book I was … NOT! If I told you that Joey W. Hill was my favorite author, you probably would not believe me, because of how long it takes me to read her books. I have to blame Joey for this, because she writes such deep stories. So, as I'm reading, three things usually happen to bring me to a stop:
1. I have to stop after I highlight something and truly mull it over.
2. I always have reactions when her other series come for a visit. If a scene is mentioned, and I remember it from its original book, I'll stop and go read it "when it actually happened." This time, I had an unusual reaction that said either I a) had completely lost my mind, b) believe the blogs that say the end of menopause is worse than the beginning, or c) am way too invested in these characters ... NO, never c) LOL!! At 5:30am, when the mere mention of a late arriving "acclaimed" artist gives you goosebumps, and the word "kilt" literally brings you to tears, yea, you start to wonder. Joey makes you miss other characters, because you get to know them so very well. P.S. Evan can paint my body any day - Please don't tell my husband 🤣
3. I read a section that mentions an earlier section, but I don't remember this detail. I wonder how I could have missed it! So, now I have to think of a word unique in that scene to help me search faster. This time, the word was "barter," and I'm quite proud of myself for remembering 😁 Then, I felt even better, because I hadn't forgotten, this was new information!! It's interesting when you look at the history of a relationship when you see leading indicators that at the time did not have such significance. When Bastion comments on the logo for Tiger's garage, which was completed prior to the start of this story, "Looking at that logo, you could say she put her brand on him a long time ago. Even if she didn't realize it then."
This time we have a 4th: 4. This time, Joey had an "Ice Queen" excerpt after the book ended, so of course I had to start reading it ... millionth time ... then I realized, I have to finish this review, which I started on Thursday.
I know people who will not read pre-release chapters. I'm not one of them! If released as a teaser, I read the first chapter(s) multiple times, so when the book is released, I have already formed a connection with the characters. That may sound weird, but Joey's characters are deep. Joey understands the human psyche better than most psychologists/psychiatrists - "Family longs for the consideration we'll give total strangers." "Who we can love or not love isn't about fair or right or any of that shit. It's about finding a home that speaks to you, same as the rest." When we learn Skye's muteness is more psychological than physical, "I thought, if I get my voice back, my father won't have it up in Heaven to hear me sing to him. So I realized I didn't want it back. I'd borrow other voices to create one for myself. He could keep mine." In my HS graduation photo (taken over 40 years ago), I have a "Why be Normal" pin affixed to my sweater, so when I read, "People are always trying to say what's normal, but really, in the billions of lives going on in this world, what manual exists to tell you what's normal and what's not?" Then, we have Tiger's chalkboard words ... powerful!
This series is crushing, it makes you want to be such a better person to those around you, because you never know what they are truly going through. You know beyond a shadow of a doubt that what Skye went through in her early job interviews is happening every single day in the real world. When Skye asks Tiger what his ideal Mistress would be, "I'd want a Mistress who could dig deep enough to find me. Pull me out of where I live, where I've buried the best parts of me I thought were lost." just breaks my heart We need a LOT more people like Mrs. Standwell and Mrs. Warren (our current education system SUCKS!). How many students feel as "invisible" as Skye did ... without being mute?!?!
I'm also very proud of myself for guessing Tiger was a former 1% when Joey asked for our image of him after reading Chapter 1, and I posted Jax Teller (only a 1% would put a hit out on the old lady of an MC president) - I loved "Sons of Anarchy."
Of course, there is always humour, and when sub Sy comments on Cyn's thoughts about love, he turns to Ros, "When they find bodies at her place and the news crews show up, I'll pay a hundred bucks to the first one of you who can say 'she was a quiet person and everyone seemed to like her' with a straight face."
Incredible! The author is a sensualist who brings all your senses into each story and none more so than this one. Skye is intelligent and intuitive and mute. She has learned to deal with the way her difference sets her apart. When an explosion takes Tiger’s hearing Skye helps him deal and it changes their relationship. This story broke my heart and rebuilt it. I was immersed in Skye and Tigers journey and can’t recommend this story enough.
This goes beyond a mute teaching a newly deaf man how to navigate his new world. This story is how two people grow, communicate, love and trust in the cacophony of silence. Tiger's anguish needs a channel, Skye is the one to direct it. Once she has this Tiger by the tail, can she keep him? Does she dare? Can she follow her own advice? Trust. Me. Another wonderful story!
A beautiful story! At Her Call is the third book in Joey W. Hill’s Mistresses of the Board Room series. Skye Sumner is one of the Mistresses at Club Progeny. Tiger is a popular submissive among the Mistresses who frequent the club. You will recognize both characters if you read the previous books in the series. Now we get an intimate look at their backstory and their D/s relationship.
I love these two characters. Tiger Roseland, a former Fallen Angels gang member, is now a successful garage owner and mechanic. He is respected and loved by his employees and customers. The Fallen Angels is an outlaw motorcycle gang. Tiger’s father was a former president, and now his younger brother is the current president. Tiger is an alpha submissive. It is explained that “he brings a submissive need with an alpha drive” to his relationships. Yum!
Skye and Tiger are compelling characters. Their backstories are touching and fascinating. They both deal with disabilities and the many prejudices that are a side product for the disabled. Skye became mute at a young age, and Tiger was recently disabled. Their connection at the Club influences Skye to step out of her comfort zone to help Tiger deal with the sudden turn his life takes when he can’t hear.
Skye is comfortable with her life as the IT Communications manager at TRA. The way some people treat her because of her disability is realistically portrayed. Her strength and ability to deal with the people who judge her is commendable and, too often, the plight of many disabled people in the real world.
Tiger is a great guy. It was difficult for him to leave the gang that he had been involved with since birth, but he was determined to lead a less violent, more productive life. Tiger couldn’t deal with the things the gang did, but leaving the Fallen Angels presented other problems for him. His sister-in-law and his niece are often on his mind. He loves his niece and worries about her. Their relationship is sweet and loving.
I read a lot of BDSM books. I often feel that the authors create scenes to shock more than enhance their story. In Joey W. Hill’s books, BDSM is the vehicle the characters ride to grow, develop, and explain who they are at their core. Don’t get me wrong; her scenes are sexual and hot but not gratuitous. They often have me turn my fan high while I’m reading, but at the end of the day, I remember the characters and their journey more than a particular scene.
At Her Call works as a standalone, although I’m sure you will go back and read the first two books after reading this one. If you enjoy erotic romance with a little suspense, you will love this story. I highly recommend it.
I've said it before but it bears repeating, when it come to BDSM romance, Joey Hill has few equals. Her series books are seductive, sensual and erotic. They're also so much more than BDSM scenes strung together. She's creates marvelously unique characters and weaves them into intricate stories with some drama, angst, conflict and touches of danger. You will come to care about her characters, root for them, despair and celebrate with them. At Her Call certainly measures up to the previous books in this series and to all of the rest of Ms. Hill's body of work!
Who better than Skye Sumner to help Tiger Roseland navigate the pain and loss in aftermath of a devastating event that not only took a life, but destroyed his business and left him hearing impaired? Skye has dealt with a disabilty for most of her life. She knows what he's in for as he recovers. Up til now, their Domme/sub relationship has mostly been confined to their club. Deciding that he's wallowed enough Skye pushes and prods this gorgous man, who loves to serve, to learn to live with what he's been dealt and make the best of it. Along the way their relationship becomes more familiar, more personal and feelings evolve. Do they dare pursue their feelings and become the couple they seem destined to be.
This book has superb storytelling is among the very best of femdom literature with a measured, evolving storyline that is perfectly paced and well-researched without being obvious. The emotions of the characters reach out and connect with the reader, bringing us into the story to better understand D/s and to feel compassion with their significant challenges. Once you drop into this world, it takes you on an immersive ride that won't stop until the last page.
Skye is a domme who has been mute from childhood. As an IT wizard, she compensates very well, but she still experiences communication challenges. Some submissives do not work well with the different style of communication, but Tiger is a man who has melded very well with her in sessions from the beginning. When it feels that the relationship may be developing into something more, disaster strikes and sets the two on a different path. The question is 'Will it bring them closer together or ultimately drive them apart'?
This book is masterful storytelling and powerful in its ability to connect the reader with its characters and perhaps even change readers' perspectives on communication within a successful and loving relationship.
***** The additional stars this merits! We've met Skye, the Domme of many voices, and Tiger, her Alpha sub before, but now here is their story, their journey. They both had a very special D/s understanding at club Progeny, but other than her relying on his mechanic services they had no contact out of it. That changes dramatically when the world of his youth, the one he left behind, crashes into his life again. With devastating consequences. He's lost in grief and deprivation, until Skye steps in as a friend with a deep understanding of the situation, to help him cope with the circumstances. During the time they spend together, teaching, learning and understanding, what could be a hindrance turns into a completely new and unique form of togetherness. Tiger is literally and figuratively breaking ties with the pure force of his submission, while Skye, although still the consummate Domme, becomes much more than just that. To follow them through the see-saw of emotions, the ongoing danger, their mutual unconventional understanding and quietly explosive scenes is, as always in Ms Hill's stories, a deeply moving journey. Thank you Ms Hill!
Tiger grew up in the MC world with a brutal father, whose actions forever changed his life. He escaped that world and runs a successful independent garage. He's an alpha submissive, protective and dedicated to serve.
Skye Sumner has been mute since an accident when she was a child. She's a brilliant IT and communications expert and one of the top five management team at TRA. She's a Domme at Progeny and communicates with body language and a voice app on her phone.
Tiger and Skye have been scening at Progeny for a while. A terrible attack takes away Tiger's hearing, sending him into a downward spiral. Skye takes things out of the club to help him learn to manage his new reality and it takes their relationship to a level neither were expecting.
Both Tiger and Skye grew up with trauma that hasn't fully healed but as they navigate his recovery. Their bond grows stronger but old wounds must be healed if they are going to find their happily ever after.
Hill delivers another poignant emotional story, with a sensual relationship that will light your pants on fire.
I love Ms. Hill's books even when they make me want to pull my hair out. so far this story hasn't done that. It is always so nice that Ms. Hill isn't afraid to bring in characters from other series. In this case Niall, Evan and Alanna from Taken by a Vampire. These guys love to series hop.
This series is much different from the earlier series. All these woman have had very dark lives that they have survived and become successful in the business that they share. They are all Dommes and each finds the sub that will fulfill their needs. These men aren't skinny men looking for a mommy. They are Navy Seals, ex-gang members, and police officers.
This is book is Skye's story. Skye is mute due an illness when she was young. She has learned to adapt and thrive. With the help of Ros and the rest of Thomas Rose Associates executive officers Skye has become a successful and confident woman. She is a Domme and has been topping an ex-biker, Tiger.
The story that follows is full of ups and downs, explosions and a hostage hunt through the swamps. It is full of triumphs and tragedy. I fell in love with both of these people and the things they discover about themselves and each other. It is a roller coaster ride as any one who has read one of Ms. Hill's books. I enjoyed the story very much.
Holy H***! This book! This is one of those books that twisted me into knots. It was a rollercoaster ride! Tiger is a big, gruff, biker, mechanic, submissive who goes through something that leaves him changed and damaged. He had a tough childhood but in his eyes that is nothing compared to what happened in Chapter 1. Skye is a tough as nails Mistress. She is also mute, but communicates without words. These two have scened before and could read each other, now the stakes are higher but can it lead to a HEA. I loved the way these two find ways to make a bad situation better, to help each other heal and to love.
What can I say? Outstanding!! When I was reading Skye and Tiger's journey , it pulled me straight in. This books is filled with lots of emotions and much much more. There where parts I wanted to cry and smile at the same time. Being a TRA woman is amazing and it had to take a special type of man to be the one. Each one of these ladies are amazing. I look so forward to the next one.
Joey's books never disappoint. She writes in-depth characters we care about, with interesting stories and plenty of romance and sexy times. Skye is a particularly fascinating person and this story gives us a lot more of her background, and how she came to lose her voice. Tiger is a great match for her, but there are hurdles for them to overcome.
I was hesitant with this book after the last one where it turned in to a Dom book rather then Domme, but Joey W. Hill knocked this out of the park. The love felt between the two characters through out the story and the way she kept you wondering what would happen was amazing. This book brought all my biker Domme fantasies to life.
And then came Skye, so intertwined in darkness and silence with Tiger, but so different. So strong together while fighting their own demons. And each others. Discovering. Learning. Seeing. Being seen, heard, is so important. I love it that in a story of someone mute and someone deaf, the heart and soul are so loud.
I don’t know what it is about Joey’s writing that makes me slow down and savor a story, nut it always takes me twice as long to finish one of these books. This pair was the one I was most excited to read about and they didn’t disappoint.
Joey’s book always bring such depth and emotion to her beautiful characters. I love her writing for so very many reasons but the caring and sensitivity she brings to the stories brings meaning far and above the eroticism which is OUT Of The Park!
Such a good femdom story with an alpha male. The story isn't about a power struggle and thats what makes it all the more meaningful. I absolutely loved it!
These are some of the best in the subgenre. You've got complex and varied characters who form deep connections. Hill writes about adults, people with histories. This adds to the resonance. She's great at describing people falling in love and using the steamier scenes to actually add to the story by showing the increasing intimacy they develop. This story is about a mute woman and a newly Deaf man and the language component is handed in a sensitive and thoughtful way that adds to the sweetness of the story. Hill is on my auto-buy list.
Not sure what happened to November through December 2022. I am really behind on reviews and extreme apologies. Will be getting caught up this month.
Finally my review!
A silent siren, Skye is one of the more enigmatic mistress in this group of strong women. Learning about Skye and how she lost her voice is beyond heart breaking. It shocked me and I'm impressed with how Skye came to be the person she is today. What I love about this series is how the women are helpful and uplifting towards each other. This is how people should be for each other, especially in business. Think of all the good and amazing work we could accomplish if we were like these women.

I was so excited for Skye's book. It def didn't disappoint & I couldn't put it down. Hill is a Goddess at writing strong dominant women and I am excitedly waiting on the next installment now. I originally thought Ros would be my favorite but Skye was so incredibly well written and her story just had me enthralled from start to finish.. Now I think it's a tie so far... Can't wait to see who's story is next! 5 Stars!!
