All Their Demons Bow To Me: Act II of the FrightVerse saga

Rate this book
Therapist Judy Haig’s clientele aren’t the usual suspects. A majority claim to be haunted house victims. Anyone else may be inclined to doubt them, but not her. Just as she grows comfortable with her days turning into an anthology of horror stories, the horrors find a way to stop being contained within the words of her patients. It becomes a race against time as these demons not only target her, but a former patient as well; a vulnerable young woman named Madelyn Pulaski, whose own history with the supernatural may hold the key to saving them both.

Fantastic!

I'll preface this review by saying that in order to fully understand and appreciate this book, you need to read the first, Low Spirits.

I thought when I started reading I'd be a little lost since it's been a few years since I read Low Spirits. But nope! First chapter and I was right back with Judy, Madelyn and Martin. These three characters are like friends I haven't seen in a while but never lost touch with.
I loved the addition of Roland and Kiefer Kane, but I gotta be honest I missed Martin. His absence didn't detract from the story, I just love him as a character.
What can I say about this book that will do it justice? It's beautiful. It's dark. Full of hope and despair. A tiny bit gruesome. A lot terrifying.
Lane is brilliant with how he mixes horror with mental health themes. A very unique way to convey the horrors of the supernatural. And I would never in a million years have ever even thought of writing a story about a therapist that treats survivors of paranormal trauma.
This review will serve as my official plea for a third book!

I still vividly remember reading Low Spirits last year and craving more when I reached the end. I needed to know what happened next, and when I purchased the sequel I couldn't wait to catch up with the characters. If possible, I think I love this book even more than the debut, and that's saying something because Low Spirits is one of my favorite horror books. I constantly have to tell myself I have to read other things and can't just re-read books I love over and over again. Anyway . . .

With the ending to Low Spirits, there were so many directions this sequel could go in, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was blown away.

I loved catching up with Judy and Madelyn, and I loved meeting new characters. Everyone felt like real people who you could easily run into in real life. The creepy factor was off the charts with the variety of different entities, their disturbing appearances, and their hauntings. Everything flowed so well together, and I could see it like a movie in my mind. I really loved how everything came together, especially with so many characters and subplots. Nothing felt out of place, and I never felt lost. The suspense had its hooks in me from early on. I hated every time I had to put the book down to do anything else.

I loved All Their Demons Bow To Me: Act II of the FrightVerse saga, and I can't wait to read whatever comes next for the FrightVerse saga and anything else Kiefer Lane writes.
