War veteran Zoe Peyton thinks her traumatic past is behind her. Until a man breaks into her home and attacks her. If it weren’t for her off-limits crush and friend Cruz Sawyer chasing away her intruder, she would have suffered a far worse fate. The walls around his heart are thick, especially where Zoe Peyton is concerned. She’s a friend, and that’s all he can ever allow. When he chases off Zoe’s intruder, he vows to keep her safe. But when delusion is involved, the enemy can be nearly impossible to see.

On the trail of one man, but do the have the right criminal. Or are they on a cold trail.
This book was a fast pace read. Page Turner for sure.. gotta know who done it. I never saw that coming. Till it was to late.
Another winner in Ms. Haas's Crossroads series, set at a recovery complex for wounded law enforcement officers or military personnel recovering from injuries and/or PTSD.
While I loved Cruz and Zoe--each has been through some extreme tragedy that makes them gunshy about falling in love again, even though they've been best friends for some time now--what really stood out for me in this book was the twisty mystery and the villain. He was properly evil and a true terror as he stalked Zoe. Plenty of suspects. Lots of tension. A great climactic battle and a heartwarming HEA.
Book 2 of the Injured Pride series did not disappoint! It is chocked full of suspense romance and thrills that had me hooked from page one. Zoe and Cruz's story is a true testament of friendship and always being there for each other. I look forward to reading the next book in this gripping series!
This story had me from page one! Cruz is a police officer investigating his best friend Zoe's assault. Zoe and Cruz have been denying their feelings for a long time, They have a chemistry that cannot be denied, but their personal issues keep them from acting on their feelings. That is until Zoe's attacker ups the ante and they cannot deny their feelings anymore. This is a slow burn and full of action. It is well written and I will definitely be reading more of Danielle M. Haas!
Absolutely amazing story. I thoroughly enjoyed it! This was about cop, Cruz Sawyer who is investigating the case of his best friend, Zoe being assaulted. This was full of action and danger, I really liked the plot of the book and how gripping the story was. I honestly couldn't leave it Alone once I started. The romance between Zoe and Cruz really was slow burn, romantic but not steamy. Their chemistry not to be messed with and I enjoyed the mystery behind the scenes. Such a great book, I'll be reading more by Danielle Haas that's for sure! Great work!!
Wow, this was good! A nailbiter from the beginning, it will keep you on the edge of your seat in suspense, danger, and mystery with some twists and turns thrown in. Cruz and Zoe’s story jumps right into the action from the first few pages. It’s well-written, attention-grabbing goodness with wonderful characters, an amazing backdrop, and a consuming storyline that’s impossible to put down.
Zoe is the yoga instructor at the Crossroads Mountain Retreat which is a place where injured law enforcement and veterans can go to find peace and heal. Teaching yoga is Zoe’s way to give back after she found her own solace at the retreat when she was medically discharged from the army. She even found the yoga so helpful and satisfying she opened her own studio in town where she teaches when she’s not at the lodge. She also has a painful past full of secrets; secrets she’s shared with no one. After one horrifying night when she’s assaulted in her home, her past and present start to blend together. There’s a stalker after her and he won’t stop until he has her. She’s scared and unsure, jumping at every little sound and Cruz becomes her only stability. She’s been in love with him forever so having him as her bodyguard and in close proximity is almost more than she can handle. When lines blur and secrets are exposed, will it be the end or a new beginning?
Cruz is an officer in the small town of Pine Valley, Tennessee, where he moved after his fiancée died in a burglary. He’s haunted by her death and can’t let go of the past – being too late to save the woman he loved. Though he sees those around him finding love and happiness, like his brother, he just can’t seem to let go and he’s hardened his heart to the possibility. The only exception is his best friend, Zoe. He’d be crazy to say he was not attracted to her and she was there for him during his roughest time when he needed a friend the most but he feels guilty for any type of feelings and doesn’t want to ruin their friendship. When she becomes the obsession of a stalker, he’ll stop at nothing to keep her safe. Even risking his heart in the process. When Zoe disappears will it be a repeat of the past for Cruz or will they have a chance to start fresh and be who they were always meant to be?
This book is the 2nd book of the series. If you haven’t read book 1 Crossroads of Revenge I’d suggest starting there if you skip the prequel Crossroads of Revival which I’d also recommend. The reason I suggest reading Crossroads of Revenge first is not because you wouldn’t be able to follow or enjoy this story but because you learn spoilers from Crossroads of Revenge as it’s explained to give you background if you haven’t read it. It is enough information that you won’t get the full suspense effect from the other book if you choose to go back to read it. Just personal preference but thought it’d be good to know. I knew after meeting Cruz and Zoe in the pervious books that this would be a great story. After reading it I can say that was a complete understatement. This story had me intrigued and let me put the pieces together as we went along to figure out the who, what and why. Cruz and Zoe have a lot to unpack and work through from their past and I could almost feel the emotions jumping off the page. If you’re triggered by the topic of rape or kidnapping then this one does touch on those subjects. However, I couldn’t put this book down and when I was done, I wanted to discuss it right away but being I read an ARC (for an honest review) then I have to wait until my friends can catch up when it releases October 25. So, preorder it or one click it. You still have time to catch up on the series before this one releases.
Zoe Peyton is getting her life back on track and teaching yoga to overcome her devastating time in the military. She has had a crush on Officer Cruz Sawyer for quite some time, but he sees her only as a friend. When she is attacked in her home, it is only by a stroke of luck that Cruz stopped by and averted an attack by the man who was hiding in her home. Cruz has long been attracted to Zoe, but she sees him only as a close friend. When the threats continue, he steps in to protect her, but will they find her stalker who seems to know when Zoe is at her most vulnerable? Cruz is still suffering from the time, years ago, when he was unable to save his fiancée…he mustn’t fail Zoe. Threatening notes are being left for Zoe and his car is targeted as they investigate other attacks that have occurred in the area. When they finally receive an obscure lead, will this finally lead them to the man who has targeted women over the years? An emotional friends-to-lovers romantic suspense. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation, from the author, for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)
What another great addition to the Injured Pride series! Romantic suspense is my go to genre and Danielle Haas has really created a great fictional world with this series. Cruz Sawyer is the detective for this quiet mountain town. He left the Nashville police force after the tragic death of his fiance hoping to find peace in his chosen career. He befriends Zoe Peyton, a local yoga instructor and she is someone else that has had a tragic past and is also looking for peace. The problem is Zoe has a stalker and Cruz will do anything to keep her safe even at the sake of his own happiness. Crossroads of Delusion is a very good thriller with a slow burn romance intermixed. It wasn't necessary to read the first book in the series however I recommend reading it to get the backstory of the other supporting characters. This series has a lot of depth to it and I really enjoyed that the characters weren't one dimensional. It was told from dual POV and has lots of twists and turns and will keep you glued to the pages.
While this is listed as the second book it is actually the third if you count the prequel and I have to tell you this is one series that gets better with every book that is released in it. The perfect mix of suspense and tension with hot romance thrown in there is enough twists and turns to keep you engaged
This is Zoe Peyton and Cruz Sawyer she is the resident yoga instructor at the retreat something she started to get her own head on the right way after what happened to her in the military and the consequences she will have for the rest of her life Cruz is the twin brother of Lincoln (the hero in Book 1) he is also the local Sherriff There is a strong attraction between Cruz and Zoe but both are fighting it she doesn't think she can give him what he needs and he will never put a woman he loves in danger again But when danger stalks Zoe there is no way Cruz will walk away and been so close to one another they finally give into their passion Can he save the woman he loves this time and can they have a future You will have to read to see
Crossroads of Delusion is the second story in the Injured Pride series, and while it's about another couple, you really should read them in order. This book follows Cruz, who has gone through unimaginable tragedy, and it left its mark on him as he still battles guilt about it all so he moved himself to a small town called Pine Valley. Zoe is a war veteran who has a thing for Cruz, but knows he's off limits. Things take a turn when someone breaks into her home, and it's Cruz who ends up chasing the person away, however, it's quickly apparent she's in danger. Cruz is determined to keep her safe, but during this time, feelings are escalating which brings more complications because this isn't easy on Cruz. Of course there's that danger to Zoe escalating as well so the twists have really taken off & my heart was racing at high levels. Can Cruz keep Zoe alive in order for them to have a shot at forever?! You'll have to read the book to find out as I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
The second in the Injured Pride series..,another amazing book. Officer Cruz Sawyer of Pine Valley hasn’t put his heart out there since something happened to his fiancé in Nashville, TN,..Now Zoe Peyton’s life is in danger. After what happens at Zoe’s house he won’t let anything happen to her. Him and Zoe have been really good friends. He’s never acted on any feelings he may have until now. Zoe Peyton is a yoga instructor, but also fought in Afghanistan..she has scars inside that she has never told anyone about until now. She’s releases most of it to Cruz.
Cruz is glad that she trusted him with what happened to her. He knows what she just told him wasn’t easy.
Buy the book. It releases October 25, 2022. I do recommend you read Crossroads of Revenge before this book. I for sure can’t wait for more books.
This is the second book in this series, and Lincoln’s (from book one) twin Cruz’s story. Cruz has held his feelings in check for five years. Since the loss of what he considered his only love he’s closed himself off from relationships. Well other than family there’s his good friend Zoe. Zoe hopes all her trauma is over, after leaving the military she just wants to run her business. If she has feelings for Cruz, well she knows better than to expect reciprocation. Things change for both when strange things start happening to Zoe. It’s also just the thing to make Cruz realise there just might be a HEA in his future. As long as he can keep his girl safe. This book has a believable storyline, and keeps you guessing nearly to the end on who is the villain. Could be read as standalone however, recommend book one is read first.
Your heart breaks for Cruz as he spends so much time fighting the ghosts of his past that he struggles to fight the demons of today that are threatening Zoe. Demons that are dark, dangerous and deadly, destroying the lives of innocent women, leaving them violated and scarred. Thankfully Landon knows exactly how to pull him into the present (yay for twins!) and he finally buries his ghosts and embraces his feelings for Zoe. It is humbling to see such strong men, protectors down to their bones, brought to their knees by the fear of failure. Not just any failure, but failing those they love most. I really love this series and the redemption arc each of the bruised and battered heroes (and heroines!) finds, a fantastic series, I have already downloaded the next book. I read this on Kindle Unlimited.
Another fun, heartbreaking, suspenseful story! I enjoyed the twists & turns a lot. Getting to know more about these two, catching up with Brooke & Lincoln, getting a glimpse into the next story... 💜
I got a little annoyed with Cruze & Zoe's lack of full communication, but otherwise enjoyed them as a couple. I love Zoe's strength & resilience. I love Cruz's protective nature & getting to see more of him & Lincoln together.
The intrigue & suspense kept me turning pages & the love & chemistry again was well done in a closed door setting. Also well done, Zoe's emotions around her loss & Cruz's support & the way he shows it. I appreciated the way this part was written (even if I wanted them to get to that full openness a little earlier! 😄).
This story has plenty of suspense, angst, and action. With each incident that happens, you want to keep reading on to find out what happens next. When someone tries to attack Zoe, it is no surprise that she turns to her good friend Cruz. After all, she feels protected when she's with him. Of course, it also doesn't hurt that she is in love with him. Cruz is willing to do anything in his power to keep Zoe safe. The only question is whether they will both be able to get past events in their past in order to have a future together - provided they find her stalker. I loved how this story developed and you are kept guessing as to who the stalker is until the end, and how both characters were able to open up to each other and their friends.
I just got done reading Crossroads of Revenge three days ago and had to jump right into Crossroads of Delusion. I am absolutely loving The Injured Pride Series and can’t wait to get started on Crossroads of Revival tonight. Just like with Crossroads of Revenge, I had a hard time putting this book down! Danielle has a great writing ability that keeps you intrigued and wanting more. She knows just the right way to let the suspense start to calm down and then she just reels you right back in. The characters are great and I feel so invested in all of them. I love that in Crossroads of Revenge she introduces and touches on the characters that are the main characters in Crossroads of Delusion and Crossroads of Revival.
I found Crossroads of Delusion every bit as captivating as the first book in the Injured Heroes series. Danielle Haas excels at building mystery and suspense by using some misdirection or casting enough doubt that you'll find yourself anxiously reading on to get answers to all your questions. That Cruz Sawyer and Zoe Peyton are meant together is apparent to everyone around them but they both have events from their pasts that are preventing them from being anymore than friends. It takes having Zoe's life endangered for them both to let go of what happened before and embrace what's clearly a deep love between them. But you've got to make it through some heartstopping edge of your seat moments before you get to an HEA.
There are heart stopping moments right from the get go with this book and I don't know how Zoe held it together at times, thankfully Cruz is around although lord help me I really wanted shake some sense into both of them as they are perfect for each other but neither wants to acknowledge it due to their pasts which are both heart wrenching. It was great to see everyone from the previous book, however it also reminds you of their loss and how they are still working through it. Between trying to work out who is really behind the attacks, never knowing when an attack might happen as well as the sexual tension and hoping Zoe and Cruz finally get together you get one heck of a page turner.
Second book in this series, and I was a tad disappointed in this one, the mystery surrounding who was following the h was gripping, but I also figured out who it was instantly.
The connection between the main characters was non existent, they had an amazing relationship but I just didn't think they had anything beyond that.
Cruz reflected more on his previous relationship, and the h had a horrible past, but I also didn't like her inner thoughts most of the time.
𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬
Brooke and Lincoln. Chet (can't wait to read his book)
Zoe gets attacked in her own home. Thankfully her friend, officer Cruz Sawyer, can chase away the attacker. But now he needs to keep Zoe safe, so he won’t leave her side. But the more time, they spend together, the more the attraction grows. But after losing his fiancé in a burglary, he vowed to never have to feel something like that again, so he can’t fall for the beautiful Zoe. But fate has other things on her mind…
Crossroads of Delusion is the second book in the Injured Pride series, and it just keeps getting better. The upbuild of the suspense and the twist and turns in this book, was what kept me reading till late at night.
This story grabs your attention from page 1 and doesn't want to let go. Pulse-pounding action and suspense. I'm so glad we finally get Zoe and Cruz's story, but I didn't quite expect all these feels and mystery and questions. Edge of your seat twists and turns keep you engaged throughout, even "yelling" at characters to not do something because you see the writing on the wall...sigh... but when you're that invested it makes for a great romantic suspense. So glad these two finally got over their past hangups to get their HEA in a enthralling story. Can't wait for the next in the series!
Crossroads of Delusion is Book 2 in the Injured Pride series. This book was so emotional. Zoe has moved on from the events of her past, and believes life is better and as good as it gets. Then, she is attacked in her own home. Cruz has not moved on from her fiancé dying years ago, he feels responsible. He and Zoe have been best friends for a few years, and they are both attracted to one another, but neither feels worthy of one another. Things change as they try to find out who is after Zoe. This was a fast paced, exciting read.
I am hooked on this series and I was happy to dive into Zoe and Cruz story. I was in awe with there friendship and was rooting for them to get together. There is so much of suspense and anticipation that I was glued to my kindle throughout and I was so lost in the read I din realise when it came to an end. I am not saying much as I do not want to spoil but this is a fast paced read filled with every single emotion that tugged my heart. Thanks to the author and Wildfire Marketing for the advanced copy.
Zoe Payton was a War Veteran and her house gets broken in and secrets of her past come back to haunt her.
Cruz Sawyer is an officer of Pine Valley. Cruz will do anything for Zoe. Her cabin get broken into and they want to pull her past back into her life but Cruz is there to protect her.
Danielle is fabulous on description. Character are real good match. Love the setting description of where there are on the book. Awesome author love reading her books..
Cruz and Zoe. Picking up after book one we see the other twin get this HEA. There are definite twists along the way and some tense moments of danger. Well written conversations had me chuckling or gritting teeth in frustration over some of the character antics. Great use of the first couple from book one being active in the story. The bad guy was predictable, but well designed creepy element to try and throw us off. Can’t wait for the next book and to learn more about this retreat and town.
This second book has the characters from book one which makes it good. Zoe has so much pain & suffers alone that you can't help feeling sorry for her. Cruz is punishing himself for something he couldn't control. You just want to slap some sense into them to stop being blind & stupid. Suspense grips you & fustrates you as they keep missing the key element. Them getting their HEA is worth reading the book. Enjoyed it!
I enjoyed all the chills and thrills in this book. Danielle Haas skillfully weaves a masterful story. It is guaranteed to keep you reading. It can be read as a standalone or part of the series.
It's a difficult story to put down. Zoe and Cruz are sizzling together and face danger together more than once. Once you start this series, you will want to continue on reading with the next book. I am guessing who's going to star in the next book. Mia?????
