The Detective Book Club was a series of mystery fiction books started by publisher Walter J. Black in 1942. Books were published monthly and contained three complete novels in one volume (though some promotional books contained only one or two novels). The series continued through the 1990s. A second series, The Detective Book Club Inner Circle, began in September 1971, and was intended to offer two volumes per month.

Michael L. Cook's Murder By Mail: Inside the Mystery Book Clubs gives a semi-complete list of all the titles in the Detective Book Club and the Detective Book Club Inner Circle series.

Initially, the books were published in cloth, with three lozenges containing the titles on the spine and a dagger logo on the front cover, designed by George Salter. In April 1945 the cover design was changed to a plain straight line text on the spine and the Detective Book Club script on the spine and front cover. In March 1959, the dust jackets were replaced with full color covers.
