Asa’s journey
Ruin is the second book of Donna Grant’s Kindred: The Fated series (a spinoff of her Kindred series.)
In this book, we find Asa, who was a part of the original Kindred series. She escaped the devastation of her home, the home Edra and Radnar built to help train witches, and those without magic, to defend themselves against the Coven. She feels guilty that she was not there to help defend the home she found in Scotland, but now she feels she must return to her original home in Norway, and the little sister she left behind. She felt she was able to leave Liss because her sister had no magic and would be safer without Asa around. It turns out Liss does have magic and has sent Rory, a highlander who has spent time fighting with Vikings, to warn Asa that a chieftain has become obsessed with Asa, and that he a formidable witch on his side.
Rory & Asa must navigate Scotland, and their growing attraction to each other, on their quest to confront the chieftain, Hosvir, and his witch, hopefully with the help of someone from the Varroki. Asa knew that their best bet to confront Hosvir’s witch, Dagny, was in a Witch’s Grove. Luckily, Jarrin received Asa’s request for help and he & Helena journey to assist Rory & Asa. None of them were prepared for who would show in that Witches’ Grove. Hosvir was defeated, but his witch’s true identity will change everything for our characters going forward.
The Kindred: The Fated, has given Donna Grant’s fans of the original Kindred series the opportunity to learn more about characters whose fates were left up in the air at the end of that series. As usual, the road is never direct, but the journey is always full of surprises!
