In the dark years following the war with the Covenant, the Spartans of UNSC Infinity represent humanity’s best hope against a growing tide of enemies that imperil all they have tirelessly worked to recover.
Led by Commander Palmer, these super-soldiers are unparalleled warriors, but it will take more than raw combat skill and dogged bravery to keep humankind safe from the danger that approaches on all sides.
From the rise of Spartan Commander Sarah Palmer aboard the flagship Infinity to the UNSC’s extraordinary efforts to stop the machinations of Jul ‘Mdama and the Covenant, this stunning collection contains Halo: Initiation #1–3 and Halo: Escalation #1–24 and features scripts crafted by writers on Halo 4 and Halo 5: Guardians. A must have for any fan of Halo!
Artwork was excellent, and the story about the Master Chief was great. If anything, I wish it was longer and had more details. I enjoyed seeing how covers and pages progress from sketch to finished colors. I want that in all the graphic novels I read now.
The Kig-Yar pirate nest storyline was fun. I wish they'd gone with the queen's Tina Turner hairstyle from the sketches. She totally could have pulled it off.
Palmer irritated me. She's a lot like the Master Chief, but less effective and doesn't learn from her mistakes. He goes off mission and disobeys orders and still gets the job done. She had no character growth whatsoever. And why did one shot from a Needler nearly incapacitate a Spartan?
Good read. Goes over Palmer’s invite to be a Spartan IV. Isla Zane’s attempted takeover of infinity after being the only surviving Spartan IV in the first batch of candidates that were supposed to be without armor. She was strong, but unstable and rash. She is removed from infinity by Palmer after a brief fight, but appears to be rescued to fight another day. Ends with Spartan II Musa demanding the Spartans become their own unit and asset, not to be under control of Navy or ONI. Great art.
