‘As he looked on in horror, the woman turned her head, giving Craig the full view of the exit wound. A piece the size of a grapefruit had been blown out of her skull. What remained within was black and lifeless.’

Lifetimes is the sequel to Legacy, the story of time-travelling ex-Marine Craig Edmonds, and his battle to save himself and his family from the evil witch, Beyath.

Able to harness both time and space, Beyath returns from the dead to hunt down Craig Edmonds and destroy everything he knows and loves. Trapped in an alternate timeline, with no wife or family to support him, Craig is a wreck and bent on self-destruction. But with the help of a friend from his original lifetime, he slowly comes to terms with his new reality, and the two of them decide to go back to 1968 to finally destroy Beyath, not just in one timeline, but across all timelines. The question is: will they succeed?

‘Maybe in another lifetime’ – a wondrously spooky time-travel horror tale

California author Chris Coppel is the author of many screenplays and has taught advanced screenwriting at UCLA. He is also an accomplished drummer and guitarist. His chosen genre for this novels is horror stories and to date he has published FAR FROM BURDEN DELL, LUCK, THE LODGE, LAKEBED, LEGACY, and now LIFETIMES – the sequel to his story initiated in LEGACY.

Coppel’s cinematic vision soars in this fascinating story that incorporates time travel and occult themes so successfully. This story opens with the character Sylvie in a terrifying situation as she views her new bathing suit in a mirror: ‘The surface of the mirror shimmered. Only for a millisecond, but it was enough for Sylvie to have noticed. She stepped closer and touched the glass…two wizened arms reached our form within the mirror and grabbed her…”Come with me,” the thing said in a raspy whisper. “It’s time for me to feed.”…The ancient mouth formed into a twisted smile as Sylvie began gliding towards the mirror…’ That wonderful, creepy scene opens the door to the story that continues the story of time-travelling ex-Marine Craig Edmonds, and his battle to save himself and his family from the evil witch, Beyath. Or as Coppel distills the plot, ‘Able to harness both time and space, Beyath returns from the dead to hunt down Craig Edmonds and destroy everything he knows and loves. The question is: will they succeed?’

Fast paced and well sculpted, this is a horror story that rises to the top of the genre. Chris Coppel reinforces his stature and talent as an author with the gift!

This was one of those…well, I like Coppel’s writing and I’ve read a lot of him. My least favorite by far was Legacy to which this is a sequel. So I went with author over content and sure enough, the reading experience was exactly as one would expect from such a decision: entertaining enough but not really into the story itself.
To me, the plot of both this and legacy is strongly reminiscent of Graham Masterton’s lesser work, like his Night Warriors series, which is just kind of…silly.
This is kind of silly too. A time-traveling witch and men who time-travel to hunt her. Parallel universes, haunted mirrors, all sorts of things.
I mean, it’s entertaining enough. Coppel is always solid on the entertaining front, but it’s definitely not as good as some of his books, so, if you do decide to read this one, don’t make this your introduction to the author.
Went by quickly enough. Thanks Netgalley.

“Time is relative. You seem to be the one who gives it fluidity.”

“It’s your life,” Jack replied. “Yes, all versions of it.”

Blurb: Lifetimes is the sequel to Legacy, the story of time-travelling ex-Marine Craig Edmonds, and his battle to save himself and his family from the evil witch, Beyath. Able to harness both time and space, Beyath returns from the dead to hunt down Craig Edmonds and destroy everything he knows and loves. My thoughts: What in the world did I just read? This book gave me suicide squad vibes! (you know that evil queen lady that tries to kill everybody?) But with the multiple dimension like feel of Blake Crouch's Dark Matter! This was fun, and I had no idea it was a second book but now I'm so intrigued to dig deeper! The characters were great, the dialogue and quick wit made me laugh at times, there were moments where I was confused and not knowing what's happening, but that's me with these type of dimensional/ timeline type books and not in anyway the fault of the author. Keep in mind the main character is a vet so he has very dark flashbacks in his ptsd, so keep that in mind when digging into this one!

I want to start off by saying that received ebook arc. In return for my honest thoughts and my review. This is the second book that I read from this author. This author books didn’t disappoint me I had no idea what this book was about. I knew that I had read Lingering from this author and loved it. I also enjoying supporting indie authors.. I will continue to read this author books. They are different and creepy. I want to thank Black Tide book tours for this opportunity. This book had my shaking my head at times. Plus some of this book is set in Arizona. I am from Arizona and has the author was describing Sedona or Mesa. I knew exactly where the author and characters were. Also time traveling books are my favorite and this book has that. A creepy witch coming out of mirrors. I highly recommend this book. It is a short read. I really like taking my time reading books And this one had me wanting to read fast but there was so much going on. I really took my time.

Many thanks to Carola from @HenryRoiPR for a review copy.

"Lifetimes" is the sequel to Legacy, the story of time-travelling ex-Marine Craig Edmonds, and his battle to save himself and his family from the evil witch, Beyath.

The story doesn't disappoint, it's a solid sequel and kept me entertained, we find Craig Edmonds trying yet again to save not only his family from the dreaded witch Beyath but also his timeline, this time the author introduces multiple timelines because of failed attempts of getting rid of the witch.

I enjoyed that part of the story of Craig living different timelines, but I would have liked to find out more about Beyath's domain, i.e Craig passing over to her realm, finding more about the place.

Overall I enjoyed it and will check his other works.

Another amazing thriller from Chris Coppel! This is my second book from him, and I’m obsessed. The writing is impressive and fully engaging. I love the protagonist, Craig Edmonds. His fight to save his family and himself from the evil witch was scary and terrifying, with nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat excitement. I was captivated the entire read. Like the first book Legacy, Lifetimes is a fast-paced chilling horror/thriller meets occult fantasy/supernatural. It’s full of mystery and danger. The characters are so well-developed and interesting. The multiple timelines and time travel makes this story even more unique and gripping. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes sci-fi, horror, and occult thrillers.

An action-packed suspense with sci-fi elements that build up a great dangerous story. Thought-provoking characters. It has scaring scenes. It was a dangerous read that made me enjoy this book from the first to the last page. As a children's books reader, I thought maybe it would be too much for me. Glad I gave Lifetimes a chance. It's like the evolution of the magical realism present in the best children's classic books to the deep, dark adult read where everything is possible but not so beautiful. I can't recommend this book enough.

It's a solid sequel and had plenty enough going on to keep me turning pages. I kept thinking the story plays out like a WB show, and it's the kind of story that's always popular with young adults. The author is a horror writer, so the darkness is there, as well, keeping it serious. Great second book of a killer time travel series.

Unique voice. I love the writing and the way the book is fast-paced and straightforward. No extra words, all of them are carefully chosen and make the text strong. I also love that many things happen at the same time, and the nonlinear time and horror mixed with the time travel make it perfect. It could become a movie.
