High up in the cliffs behind the town of Pebble Cove, a haunted house looks out over the ocean. When the cursed house sells after sitting vacant for decades, the locals are concerned. Horrible things happened there. The buyers, triplet brothers famous for their house-flipping television show, are dismissive of the town’s warnings. Her instincts tell her that there’s more to this murder than meets the eye, and along with her ghostly friends, she’s the only one who can uncover the truth. Readers, this is the sixth book in a popular cozy mystery series by Eryn Scott. These books are all clean with no gore and no swearing. Starting from the beginning with this series will provide the best reading experience. The ghosts are the only paranormal aspect in the series. And there are definitely cats because ... well, there has to be. :)
Eryn Scott is the author of heartwarming cozy mysteries. Her novels feature close friendships and strong families because those are the most important things in her life -- a little humor doesn't hurt either.
She calls the Pacific Northwest home and doesn't plan on changing that anytime soon. Eryn loves to hike, horseback ride, knit, ski, and read. She believes musicals are the greatest thing since lattes, even though she's not particularly good at singing or dancing -- hey, a girl can dream, right?
Her first cozy mystery series, Pepper Brooks, is based on some of the greats in classic literature. Each book features a different author from Shakespeare to Austen. Eryn's newest series is set in a little town called Stoneybrook. The Stoneybrook Mysteries follow local jam-maker Hadley James as she solves mysteries in her town's year-round farmers market. From deceased knitters to sabotaged florists, these crafty citizens keep Hadley and her twin brother, a deputy sheriff, on their toes. Pebble Cove Teahouse Mysteries are great for readers who love a hint of paranormal with their mysteries. These books feature a tiny town tucked between craggy coastline and rocky shores with quirky characters of both the living and non-living variety. Look for new releases from all three of these series in 2022 as well as Eryn Scott's new cozy series.

Not By Oolong Shot takes the reader back to the small seaside village of Pebble Cove. This sixth in the series continues to follow Rosemary and the other inhabitants of that area, both those alive and those who are ghosts, stuck for various reasons. Since each book builds on the previous one, it's important to read them in order. Of course, I'm extremely OCD about not reading out of order. Heroine Rosemary has been able to see and converse with ghosts ever since she moved to Pebble Cove. She found she was living with Asher who has been dead since 1918, but can't move on until he finds out how he was killed and who did it. Rosemary has done research over time, but nothing has been conclusive. She has a small, cozy tea shop that she runs with baked goods brought in from a baker close by. Just recently, she has hired Callie to help her in the tea shop and have as a roommate. Pebble Cove is suddenly aflutter as they find out they are going to have triplet brothers who have a TV show called "Fliplets" come to down to film the renovation of an older home that is allegedly "cursed" by the woman who committed suicide on the premises. The highlight for Rosemary is the TV company has hired her to cater during the time the filming goes on. Of course, the reader knows that in a cozy mystery there has to be someone killed and thus starts the action of this tale. Due to several reasons, Rosemary becomes involved in the investigation. She has been an excellent amateur sleuth in past novels. It is interesting that the reader gets to see both the murder investigation as well as her continued look into Asher's death. The other ghosts from the village play a pivotal role. They are certainly not scary ghosts. In fact, a couple are humorous. There is a bit of poignancy mixed in, too. I have great admiration for Rosemary. She is a brave woman who has tried to move on from the serious illness of her childhood and live an independent life. She still is very close to her mother, but doesn't want to depend on her too much. Yes, her mother would do anything for her, but lives her own life. This book refers to the movie version of "Ghost and Mrs. Muir" and Asher and Rosemary have that sort of relationship in many ways. There is a good balance in this story. Yes, there are some absolutely lovely people, but there are quite a few that make good possible suspects in the murder. The author uses a good many "red herrings" with lots of twists along the way. There is even a cautionary note about stalking and too much misinformation, thanks to blogs and "yellow journalism". I love that there is a book club in this small village and a beautiful library. Online book groups saved my sanity during 2020. I can visualize the knitting group that meets at the tea shop. I am not a knitter, but the one that takes place at a center near me seems to have a fun bunch to ladies. If you enjoy cozy mysteries, you need to read the Pebble Cove series. If you are already a fan, you will feel right at home with book #6 and a nice cup of tea. I even learned that different teas need to have a certain temperature for the water to bring out the flavor. I am looking forward to book #7 and more adventures with Rosemary and friends. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I. Love. This. Series. With every book, I am drawn farther in to the town of Pebble Cove and the people (and ghosts) within it. Every single person has a story and we learn about their growth and relationships and its just so cozy and wonderful. I love Rosemary and Asher and their little cottage by the sea, and now it has opened up to include Callie as well, and a new partnership with Jolene. We witness a murder when a home flipping team buys a "haunted house" which has been abandoned for years. Rosemary and her local ghost friends investigate, but what I appreciate about the style of these books is that they work together and are smart about it. Rosie doesn't put herself in needless danger; she isn't overly rude or nosey. She is your average citizen and she acts like it. It is easy and enjoyable to read, and above all, believable. Well, aside from the ghosts. But you know, they are just like any small town nosey neighbors. And within the murder mystery of the flippers is the mystery that stretches throughout the entire series--the question of who killed Asher, as Rosie is trying to help Asher 'move on.' He is her best friend, and if this will help him find his peace, she will help him, even if it means losing him. But with each clue closer to an answer, they become closer in their friendship. So its a mystery within a mystery throughout the whole series and its just so well done. I love this series. Absolutely recommend!
We’re back with a new mystery, more research into Asher’s death and lots of fun with the ghosts. Scamp wants to move on but is he wrong about what’s keeping him on this side? Has the Gilchrist curse struck again? Does Rosemary believe in curses? Could the ghost have killed the Kelley Brother or was it someone more corporeal?
Also just what is going on with the Chief and her Mum?
This book has everything I need! Great plot, plenty of subplots. Lots of ghostly action and now that Callie is living with Rosie their is much fun to be had. You will not want to put this one down. It’s incredibly addictive.
Can’t wait for the next. Roll on 2022!! Eryn please do an early release!! I’m already having withdrawals.
An awesome story that has you hooked. An infamous house that’s getting a makeover that could prove dangerous. You keep trying to guess , but there’s no way you can figure it out. You have to keep reading to find out , there’s no stopping Loved it.
Triplet Kelley brothers who have a house-flipping TV show have purchased a haunted house up on the cliffs behind Pebble Cove. The house is cursed and the townspeople have warned the brothers of the danger they face. But the brothers ignore the warning. As expected, one of them is murdered.
Rosemary Woodmere had been hired to cater for the crew. She, Jolene, and Callie drove out to the house. Callie went to admire the magnificent view but let out a ghastly scream instead. Jordan Kelley was hanging from the rafters! Rosemary was able to reach his wrist to check for a pulse. Although his body was still warm, there was no pulse present. And she saw blood in his hair where a severe wound, probably the cause of death, appeared. A man with such a lethal blow to the back of the head could not have hanged himself. This was staged to look like a suicide. But he was most likely dead before he was hanged.
They talked to the police and Callie and Rosemary returned to the tea house where Callie let out another scream! She was pointing this time to Asher. When Rosemary asked if she could see him, Callie looked back at her in confusion. They figured something about finding Jordan’s body intensified her abilities most likely and was enabling her to see the ghost. She chose to go to bed while Asher and Rosemary discussed what happened. She was going to need help from her ghostly friends to get to the truth of the murder. She would try to let the police handle this, but they were going to need some help.
This is a fun paranormal cozy mystery the reader will love! The characters are familiar to us, and Asher and the ghosts feel like old friends by now. The clever mystery will draw the reader in with plenty of suspicions and an adventure tracking down clues to find out the truth about what happened to Jordan! Grab your copy and join in the hunt for clues!
“Not by Oolong Shot”, the sixth instalment in the “Pebble Cove Teahouse Mystery” series by Eryn Scott, is a cozy murder mystery with some paranormal elements and a pinch of romance, that is the ideal companion for a relaxing evening lecture while sipping a nice cup of tea, or any other beverage of your choice, but tea surely comes to mind 😊. Each book presents a different cozy mystery setting in Pebble Cove and affecting more or less directly Rosemary Woodmere and her Teahouse. The mix of quintessential nice small town and murder mystery is charming and amusing, as it is Asher, the ghost Rosemary originally ‘inherited’ with her grandmother Victorian house. The chemistry – when it comes to resolving mysteries -between Rosemary and Asher is undeniable and a never-ending source of entertainment. In fact, Asher, despite being a ghost, and thus giving a paranormal flair to the series, is fully credible, even relatable and feels very real at most times. This is a very well-written story, interesting, with enough twist and red-herrings to captivate the reader from start to finish, and with the added bonus of giving a very amusing insight into the small (non-really) sleepy coastal town.
A cursed house is about to be renovated, finally after decades a new tenant is moving on, it seems like the curse will be finally lifted….“Not by Oolong Shot” (pun intended, couldn’t resist 😉). The buyers .- a trio of brothers famous in the field for the tv-house-renovation show, while aware of the ‘curse’, don’t believe in portents, of course the town people know better, but you would not expect three acclaimed renown tv-personalities to abide for superstitions town people, do you? And thus, history repeats itself and - of course – Rosemary is the first to find the corpse and realize that there is more to the murder than meets the eye. Luckily her ghostly friends are capable to see what not human eye can detect.
I am dragging my feet on reading the last books in this series because I in no way want it to end.
Rosemary arrived at Pebble Cove lost and lonely, but with each installment she gains confidences, and a found family that spans a towns worth of characters. I adored the growth in this book, it's realistic, and feels as if it's happening in real time. The emotional depth is well laid out, and doesn't just focus on the main character. Many of the side characters have been experiencing their own emotional arcs, which is always squeal worthy for me.
The mystery in this tale was a bit of a strange one, while it all wraps up as a solid never saw that coming in the end. It left me hoping these famous people / tourists would just leave Pebble Cove alone already. ha! I love how the ghosts have their own mystery that interlocks with the livings mystery, makes it feel like I'm getting two cases out of every book. Discovering the town past through the dead also brings a lot more depth to the place, makes it feel like it's a living place, not just a setting for a story.
Asher and Rosemary are such a dynamic duo, but I am thrilled about discoveries that happen throughout this book and can't wait to see how they are all wrapped up as the series comes to a close. Callie is the perfect addition to the cast, love what her personality brought to this book.
If you love your cozies with a splash of personal growth, and a dash of low - no romance, you're going to adore this series.
Triplet Kelley brothers, who are famous for their house-flipping television show, bought a haunted house in Pebble Cove even though the local believe that it's haunted and cursed. Rosemary Woodmere, the owner of her Late Grandmothers tea shop, is hired to cater for the crew, upon arrival at the house she and her friends find that one of the brother is murdered. There are many suspects, Rosemary and her ghost friends Asher will need to get to the bottom of the murder.
This is a fun action packed paranormal cozy mystery, it is fast paced full of mystery with delightful characters, a great page turning mystery, good story line with lots of twists and turns that keeps you entertained as you try to figure out the mystery and the murderer. I really enjoy this book and I highly recommend it to any cozy mystery fans. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

The sixth book in the Pebble Cove series takes readers on new adventures with familiar friends, both real and paranormal. As in previous books, Scott entertains with quirky characters, awkward social situations, and creative murder plots. In Not by Oolong Shot Rosemary really tries to stay out of the murder investigation this time so that the Chief can handle it and save the reputation of the Pebble Cove police force. But try as she may, she can't help but lend a hand to move things along. In the meantime, her ghost friends feel that she's neglecting them as they try to find a missing spirit who may have knowledge of the strange happenings at Gilchrist Manor. New hints to Asher's inability to "move to the other side" emerge, but the full truth remains elusive. The Pebble Cove series is a fun reading experience. Each new book is a wonderful reading retreat that I love revisiting! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
An excellent addition to the Pebble Cove Teahouse series. Eryn Scott is one of my favorite authors and I love her three cozy mystery series.
There has been a murder at a house that the locals think is cursed and haunted. The victim is one of three triplet brothers who have their own home rehab show. It was staged to try to fool people into thinking he died because of the curse, but it quickly becomes apparent that he was murdered and there are a number of suspects.
The case was really interesting as it unfolded. I didn't want to put the book down as I tried to work out whodunnit alongside Rosemary. I also thought it was nicely intertwined with the overarching series mystery of what exactly happened to Asher. I love him and Rosemary together and can't wait to see what is in store for them next!
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.
This is the 6th book in the Pebble Cove Teahouse Mystery series by Eryn Scott.
I always enjoy these books. The story of Asher and his human friend Rosemary always have me wishing Asher would pull a Pinocchio and become a real boy. My heart aches this couple can never find a full true love. All they get close to is a faithful friendship.
The plethora of ghosts and their concern for the town make this a real interesting read. The mystery is almost secondary. Rosemary struggled with finding the truth about who killed Asher back in the day. It is an ongoing worry of hers. She wants to help him crossover one day but they all know this is a hard thing to accept when the day might finally come.
Definitely a cozy mystery series I highly recommend.
This book is part of the Pebble Beach Teahouse series. Although a series, each book can be a stand-alone. The series centers around Rosemary and her tea shop and includes a great variety of characters, both alive and not, in this charming town. I have read every Pebble Beach book and enjoyed them all. There is always mystery, humor, and just the right number of paranormal experiences. I truly enjoy the author’s style of writing and highly recommend Not by Oolong Shot.

Another great book by Scott! Even with the ghostly aspect to the series, I’d recommend these books to every fan of cozy mysteries. I adore this whole series — anything by Scott really. Always well-written, well-paced, likable and complex characters, plus a great mystery. Every time I think it can’t get better, Scott proves us wrong. Can’t wait for the next book!

A wonderful haunted house mystery, with a murder added in. A fun story that has you rubbing elbows with the ghosts of Pebble Cove. The characters are like old friends and this series is totally worth reading. Can they find out who killed Jordan? Will Callie recover and accept being able to see ghosts from now on? Highly recommend as a must read book.
Curses and hauntings abound when the fliplet brothers come to town. Of course, this means another murder, only this one is high profile. There is so much history learned in this book. I loved reading about the background for some of the ghosts. It made things fun and sad at the same time. I can’t wait for the next book!!
This is really a fantastic series. Rosemary is being paid to cater not find murder victims. It is a fun and clever little cozy. It is very intriguing. I had to keep reading because I needed to know who did it. It is a quick and fast paced read sure to please. I cannot wait for the next one.

Rosemary is involved in another mystery and trying to solve Asher's murder. Between the two she has to help other ghosts. I like the characters and story. I would recommend this book.

Love this series of books. The characters seem so real. The mystery of who committed the murder is not revealed until the end and is always a surprise of who did it.
Another amazing book about Rosemary, Asher and their assortment of ghostly friends. I love how Callie is fitting in with the stories, it's like Rosemary is gaining a sister. And I'm very glad to see there is another book in the future. I love every book in this series...a Christmas wish is to get the novels for my bookshelf. I received an ARC and I am voluntarily sharing my honest opinion.
As I read this series, I find myself hoping more and more that there would be a way for Rosie and Asher to be together however impossible it may be. They are such a great match. I loved the different mysteries that were solved. I also find myself torn between wanting to know how Asher died and wanting to not know so that way he sticks around longer. I can't wait to see what's next for them!
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.
Another great adventure in Pebble Cove and I loved every minute spent there. This is book did in this very delightful series and is full of charm. I love the way the author combines two or even three mysteries into one. Two of them get solved in this book the murder investigation and working out what is holding back a ghost from moving on. The third investigation continues throughout the series and is why you should start at the beginning and I can highly recommend that you do, as they are all a lot of fun. With three cases on the go, it might sound confusing but this talented author has a way with words that not only make it easy to follow but also very entertaining. I was no where near guessing who the killer was despite the subtle clues. Still loving the ghostly exploits and how they help with the investigation. I also like that Rosemary's group of friends has grown but she still needs to come up with different ways to communicate with her ghost friends. Off to start the next book striaght away which is something I don't normally do, preferring to have a break between books from the same series but this one is sooo good. When famous faces start showing up in the sleep town of Pebble Cove Rosemary is surprise to find out three property make over experts have brought a house she has never heard of. The old house has a checked past and the locals even say it is cursed after the previous owner have all died and are scared to even go near it. Then before filming can get started Rosemary and her friends stumble over one of the brothers body while catering the event. Has the curse struck again? When a blogger and then newspapers start to blame the local sheriff and his incompetence deputies for not solving the case, Rosemary and her ghost friends step in to investigate. However not everybody is happy helping and one ghost goes missing. Can Rosemary help her ghost friend? Prove the sheriff is good at his job and find a killer? All before the tea gets cold? I like the narrator. She certainly makes the investigation interesting and keeps the listener hooked. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
House flipping a supposedly haunted house seems like a recipe for disaster, if you ask me. That said, Rosemary hadn't seen any ghosts (and in fact hadn't even known about the haunted house until the house-flippin' triplets showed up to buy the place and put their house-flippin' plans into motion) and she's not at all certain the place is actually haunted.
Then Callie finds one of the triplets dead and suddenly Rosemary and Callie are hunting down clues in an effort to help the Chief solve the crime. Why are they set on helping the Chief? Well, that would be because he (and the entire Pebble Cove police department) are being accused of colluding with the PC townsfolk to keep outsiders out with the help of the local cursed house.
Yeah, there's a lot going on here. Unfortunately, the Chief is taking the brunt of the bad press and since he's marrying Rosemary's mom (and kinda has that father-figure thing going for both Rosemary and Callie), she (and Callie) are a little invested in making sure his good name is cleared.
A run-down house about to get a face lift, ghosts, complicated family dynamics, oolong tea, a blogger with attitude, and Rosemary and Asher adding a third to their intrepid crew. *thumbs up*
5 Star review Not By Oolong Shot (Pebble Cove Tea House Mystery #6) by Eryn Scott
AUDIO REVIEW:
I enjoy my visits to Pebble Cove and Not By Oolong Shot was a good addition to one of my favourite cozy mystery series. I love stories about small towns, add in mystery and a ghost and this book ticked the boxes for me.
Rosemary Woodmere is once again front and centre in murder and mystery. As she investigates, much to the annoyance of the Sheriff, she also continues to investigate the circumstances of her ghost Asher’s death. Could she finally have solved it?
There were a number of twists and turns and I found myself surprised on occasion whilst listening to this entertaining cozy mystery. Jennifer Jill Araya did a great job bringing this story to life and made this an entertaining listen; her voice is pleasant and easy to listen to.
"Not By Oolong Shot (Pebble Cove Teahouse #6)" by Eryn Scott felt a little like a possible series end book. Or, a merge to a new take on the series. They're kind of giving up on finding Asher's killer, kind of a let down after 6 books of build up. I hope book 7 starts it back up or resolves it.
Rosemary's mom is more involved too. She comes to town to help when the local librarian has to leave town for a while. More happens with the mom, but it's all spoilers if I go into it.
The main mystery in this book really blends the ghost mystery with the living mystery more than past books. In some ways it made this style of book work more. I ended up having my gut feeling about a character end up being right with very little lead up to that person being revealed as the killer. Kind of annoying with how much build up could have been done.
I am totally bummed since I finished this book and the next one is not yet available. I am so hooked on this series and can't wait to find out more about Asher. Loved all the new info that was revealed in this. Callie is a wonderful addition in Rosemary's inner circle. Wonderful stories of love with the chief and mom and also Sarah and Olly. Love finding about about the different ghosts' stories. Great current mystery. Even though I suspected the killer right away, I had no idea where it was leading. Wonderful!!
Ghosts move on High up in the cliffs behind the town of Pebble Cove, a haunted house looks out over the ocean. When the cursed house sells after sitting vacant for decades, the locals are concerned. Horrible things happened there. The Gilchrist house is haunted. The ghosts can't move on to the great beyond. There is a culprit who wants to make it seem like it's A curse that is causing the trouble. I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
