'Misfits of Mistvale: Bonds' by Stella Rainbow
What an unusual and wonderful triad, and a great addition to this series! I haven't read all of this series yet, although I plan to, just sort of jumping around in here, picking them up in no particular order.
Really liked that this storyline had one of the three 'supes' (supernaturals) as asexual and blind...
(oh no, wait... it's not that I liked him being blind, of course not; it was just a facet of his character!)
...what was interesting was the unique way in how he 'saw' things, how he experienced and navigated around in the world that he lived in.
Loved that the other two of his found mates did everything they could to figure out how to fit him into their new family, loving him just the way he was, which really surprised him! It was pretty cool how the first two mates found each other, too...in the midst of a forest, dark of night but under a full moon.
Initially, there was some angst between them, as they each tried to figure out how they all fit together (or didn't) into this new dynamic, and how to 'fix' some things about each of them that they each felt were 'broken' (usually those feelings were instigated and perpetrated by outsiders and/or their birth families/pack).
So...
there's an amazing Japanese tradition called 'Kintsugi', the art of fixing broken pottery, where an artist takes the broken pieces, fitting them back together using a special tree-sap lacquer, dusted with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. Once completed, beautiful seams of gold shimmer in what were the cracks, giving a unique look to each repaired piece, making it stronger and more beautiful in the process.
That's them: stronger and more stable due to their fated-mate bonds.
I love that!
Two thumbs up! 👍👍
