I love this manga so much! I have not been into one really since I read Berserk. ( don’t worry it’s nothing like Berserk). I love the political and power struggle of the kings of different kingdoms. I love the issues between religion and the pagans. I also love the two main characters so, so much and they aren’t even a couple yet. They both are pretty cute and well rounded all on their own. I am throughly enjoying this manga. Too bad the fourth one doesn’t come out until 2024. I’ll be buying the third one this week. 💕❤️🧡🤩

Bro so worth it for the last four pages. This is really just Bridgerton but gay and wayyy more political. Like they actually go in-depth about the political tension between these two locations and the revolution that might be starting. I really like that there is more plot than romance! It's a nice break and a good slow burn. It does get a little confusing remembering all the political details but still good.
The political intrigue and the clashes over religions feels a little hand-wavey in places, but I'm enjoying this series. There's a lot of debauchery, but toned down to palatable levels - especially with Adam, who's really changed into a different, more disciplined and earnest person through his devotion to Joel. The twist with him and the queen was an interesting one...another of those little political intrigues that sort of makes sense, sort of doesn't, but works for this story's purposes.
Joel and Adam's relationship is developing nicely, with them settling back into a "friends" category that makes Adam happier than he would've thought. He genuinely loves being close to Joel, and while he very much wants it to be romantic, what they have right now is still pretty great. And Joel, of course, isn't as entirely immune to Adam's charms as he attempts to appear.
The young king, Chris, has the absolute most adorable relationship with Luis's younger brother, Luka, who had been the true heir to the throne. I loved all their scenes, and I hope the final volume has some sort of "ten years later" flash forward so we can see what happens with the two of them. It'd be a nice way for their kingdoms to avoid war and build an alliance.
Still can't entirely tell what's up with Luis, but it's nice at least that he seems like the less evil of the villains. Simon, Chris's uncle, is the big bad everyone else will eventually have to rally against, and I'm looking forward to that. He's definitely been set up to be entirely unlikable. (Sidenote: isn't it stupid to have big political discussions in a brothel? does information not leak from those sources?)
Luis and Gil have also taken some interesting strides in their relationship, with it turning from drunken "accidents" into a full week of sober intercourse. I'd like to see a bit more of how Gil went from hating his new master to actually seeming to be in love with him. I like the two of them, but they're certainly more tumultuous than our main pairing.
The art and attention to detail with clothing and interiors and all of that is lovely, too. The author's notes are fun and more intelligent/thoughtful than a fair amount I've read lately. There's a lot of work and research that went into this story, and it does show.
This is an interesting historical romance piece in a pseudo European setting from a Japanese manga artist.
There is lots of politics going on in this one and also lots of flirting. The best part of the book was the party people go to and it's also an auction. There's some weird religious stuff in here and it's all good, but I haven't attached to the story yet. I enjoy both main lead characters. The Viscount is great. I love his character. I'm still sort of cold on the Judge, but he's growing on me. I wish he were the nephew more often than the judge.
It's entertaining and that's what counts. I will totally go on with the story. It's well told with amazing art. It's a well done story. I hope it actually goes somewhere.
My thoughts haven't changed from Book 1, except to add that Simon is a pretty cartoonish villain stereotype and doesn't feel very 'villain' for the story.
Oh we are progressing nicely!! So good old political intrigued is still live and well!! Everyone but our main couple is finding love... lust... fucking which is enjoyable!! I am loving the illustrations that go along with this and I am super curious of what turn we will be taking. But I am here for either of them !!! Also the servants were so freaking cute!!! They tried so hard and it was precious !!
As a fan of media which really explores the politics of its settings I’m loving the heavy political and economic focus of this volume. The development and motivations being seen with Gil and Luis are everything to me.
