Wishing for Champagne Kisses

Rate this book
Best Friends Don’t Kiss.

Ryan Manning has been my best friend since we were kids. He’s my secret keeper. The holder of all my truths and the person I admire most in the world. He’s also a Lumbersnack and the man I’ve secretly pined after for decades.

But we don’t talk about that.

I’m just here in Lake Tahoe for the next week to play the part of his doting girlfriend. Cuddle up in front of his ex? Not a problem. Hold hands in front of his family? Totally fine. Kiss him while no one is watching? I’m your gal.

As a rule, you definitely shouldn’t kiss your best friend. It’s a good thing I don’t follow the rules.

Author's Note: Wishing for Champagne Kisses features fan favorite Tessa from the Falling for Whiskey duet and Bartender Shawn from Love & Tequila Make Her Crazy. It is a fake dating, best friends to lovers, standalone steamy novella.

By far my favorite of the series

This had everything I loved in a book: great writing, likeable characters, believable romance, and yummy spice.

I’ve been waiting for Ryan’s (MMC) story since the beginning and I thought I’d be disappointed because of how many expectations I had going in, but no- this was so good and I adored Ryan. He was a lumbersnack through and through.

Tess (FMC), or Pixie, is Ryan’s best friend who agreed to fake date him 😉😉. We all know how that goes lol. She was a strong woman, she had a personality, and when she was hurt by Ryan (who was horrified by how his words came out) she called him out on it.

For a novella, the pace was even, nothing felt rushed. The epilogue was perfect because that’s when the declaration of love came, in the future.
Even though the steam in these novellas are low, this one had some that were spicy enough to make me glance around to make sure no one was looking over my shoulder. Ryan’s dirty talk was hot.

I’m just so impressed with this book. I will absolutely be reading more by Brittanee Nicole.

THIS DEFINITELY MY FAVORITE BOOK IN THE SERIES. OMG the tension, chemistry and Love Tessa and Ryan have is crazy like off the charts. The story did move really fast but it also didn't feel rushed at all.

Best friends since high school, always loved each other but never said anything. They had to fake date for his sisters wedding when they realized they didn't wanna fake it anymore. This book was really fun to read.

Also a firefighter that looks like a lumberjack oh yes sign me up

“Bite down, pretty girl.” IM LITERALLY MELTING

I am so sorry to see this series end; I met new authors and enjoyed every story and couple written. The premise of the dollar bills and wishes has just increased the anticipation for the next book.

Tessa and Ryan’s story was the perfect conclusion bringing us full circle to new years eve. We also get good news for the future.

Wishing for Champagne Kisses by Brittanee Nicole, the sixth book in the Silver Lining series, delivers a heartfelt best-friends-to-lovers story with plenty of emotion and charm. The story follows Tessa and Ryan Manning, lifelong friends who have always been there for each other. But when buried feelings start to surface, they must navigate the delicate balance between friendship and love—risking everything in the process.

Nicole does a great job capturing the tension and tenderness that come with transitioning from friendship to romance. The chemistry between Ryan and Tessa feels natural, built on years of shared history, inside jokes, and unspoken longing. Their journey is filled with swoon-worthy moments, emotional dilemmas, and just the right amount of angst to keep readers engaged. Ryan is an irresistible hero—loyal, protective, and deeply in love with Tessa, while she struggles with her fears of ruining their bond.

However, while the romance is sweet, some aspects of the story feel underdeveloped. Certain conflicts resolve too quickly, making the emotional stakes feel less intense than they could have been. The pacing is a bit uneven, with some sections dragging while others feel rushed. Additionally, while longtime readers of the Silver Lining series may appreciate the familiar world and characters, newcomers might feel like they’re missing some context.

Overall, Wishing for Champagne Kisses is a charming and emotional read for fans of best-friends-to-lovers romances. While it could have delved deeper into the characters’ struggles and conflicts, it still delivers a satisfying love story filled with heartwarming moments. If you enjoy stories of lifelong friends realizing they’re meant to be, this one is worth picking up!

This is the perfect friends to lovers novella. Tessa and Ryan have been friends for as long as they can remember they speak daily but live miles away from each other neither one of them want to take that first step for fear of losing their friendship but when Ryan needs a date for his sister’s wedding he panics and says he is dating Tessa, queue the sexual tension while these 2 fake date but throw in only one bed and the fact that Ryan is a firefighter and lumbersnack I was completely sold.

As they fake date for a short period it is clear that they both feel the same and they let their walls down trying not to label what is going on as they both know that Tessa will be moving back to Boston after the wedding or can she really leave that life behind and be happy with the man she has lusted after for years?

Even though this is a novella and under 150 pages it isn’t rushed and the characters have time to develop and some of the side characters have also intrigued me we aren’t left feeling something is missing it is a whole story in less than 150 pages.

Ryan has been in love with his best friend Tessa (Pixie) for years. She doesn’t know it. She also has feelings for him as well.
Ryan lies to his family and tells them that they are dating so what does his best friend do, she pretends to be his girlfriend. Cuddling and kissing turn into more. The only obstacles besides distance they have are each other. He’s scared to push her too much and she’s trying to figure out her feelings and what decision to make.

Forced Proximity | Fake Dating | Friends to Lovers | One Bed

This was a good palette cleanser. One of the shorter novellas I’ve read. It was short, read it in one sitting, but it had good plot that kept you wanting to keep reading.
I only gave it the rating I did because, don’t get me wrong I enjoyed it but it didn’t really stand out to me.

The time has come. Book 6 of 6 in the #silverliningseries is here! It’s a steam-filled, best friends to lovers tale with angst and action.

While enjoyable, I found I couldn’t quite warm to the female MC. Maybe I just wanted her “lumbersnack” (the MMC) for myself 🤷🏼‍♀️😉

Nevertheless, the writing was engaging and top marks for banter and humour. Overall, it’s 💛💛💛💛 and I say bring on Bartender Shawn and his separate story out soon!

a cute Novella

At 139 pages this was a short and sweet HEA for Tessa and her best friend Ryan. It's a cute story with a little spice and didn't drag on so kept me hooked and read in an afternoon.

Wishing for Champagne Kisses, Book 6 of the Silver Lining series (as well as Book 3 of the Falling For Whiskey duet. It also connects to the Bristol Bay series in that one of the characters is the MMC in a book of that series.), was about Tessa "Pixie" Sanderson, a writer for a magazine in Boston, and Ryan "Ry" Manning, a firefighter in Lake Tahoe, who had known each other forever and had been best friends for over a decade.
Although Ry and Tessa had not seen each other in person for over ten years, they spoke almost daily via the telephone or video calls. They rarely went a night without spending at least fifteen minutes talking. Tessa even met Ry's niece during one of the calls, and they became fast friends and would video call whenever she visited her uncle.
When Ry needed a date to one of his sisters' wedding, he told them he was in a relationship with his long-time friend, Tessa, and that she would be his date. He told Tess he needed a date to keep his sisters from setting him up with someone, so she agreed to fake-date him during the Christmas and New Year holidays that led up to the wedding. What neither one told the other was that they wanted to be more than just friends and fake dating.
Almost immediately, the chemistry between the two flared up and didn't drop until the end. But it still felt more like a slow burn than a conflagration, mainly because they didn't communicate their true feelings to each other. At. All. It was frustrating.
The angst and drama were low in this short story, and the spiciness was a tad underwhelming, but the storyline was interesting. However, it dragged a little too much because of how little the two main characters communicated with each other. Their whole friendship was based on "truths" (they shared each other's secrets and only told the truth to each other), but at the same time, they both withheld their true feelings since high school...spanning two decades of secrecy. There wasn't a lot to the story. No other man/other woman drama, hardly any push/pull between the two main characters, and barely any conflict. It made it a bit boring. The author constantly mentioned a couple of women Ry had either dated or been interested in, but they weren't part of the secondary characters. I had actually hoped that one of them in particular would put in an appearance so she could be put in her place for how she'd treated Tessa growing up. Sadly, she wasn't brought into the story any further than as a painful reminder of the past.
I loved that Tessa got her HFN. She was a secondary character in the Falling for Whiskey duet, but she lightened that book up with her jovial spirit. I would have liked for her to have a HEA instead of a HFN, but I'll have to live with that bit of disappointment.
Although it was a short novella, it still moved at a snail's pace, which tended to make it a bit of a dry read. There were too many loose ends that didn't get wrapped up that would have been interesting to hear about. There were so many plot twists that got started but reached a dead-end and nothing ever came of them. It was too easy to lose interest, even though the reader was rooting for the HEA for the two main characters. Hopefully we'll get to see them go from a HFN to a HEA as secondary characters in one of the other books in the multiple series in which they appear.
For now, I gave the story a 3.5-star rating, rounded up to four.

⚠️Check triggers⚠️

Ryan Manning has been in love with his best friend, Tessa, aka Pixie, since they were kids. Ryan's never had the courage to tell her how he feels even though they talk on the phone every day. When Ryan needs a date to his sister's wedding, he tells his family he's dating Tessa, which isn't true. Tessa agrees to go along with their fake dating story when she comes to visit him. But fake dating starts to feel real when they realize their connection is stronger than they thought. Things heat up between them and everything changes when Tessa reveals she's loved Ryan all along.

This was a sweet novella that gave me major spicy Hallmark vibes. I loved Tessa from the Love & Whiskey duet and enjoyed her with Cash's brother. I was bummed to see they weren't going to end up together, but this novella solidified that Ryan is her perfect match. They were beautiful together and have a strong connection. I love that they mutually pined for one another and were silently obsessed with one another. They have great chemistry together, especially in the bedroom, and I appreciated that Ryan wasn't afraid of using toys as a teammate 😏

This is the 6th and final book in the Silver Lining Series. At the Silver Lining bar, it’s a tradition to write your wishes on a dollar bill, pin them to the wall and hope they come true. The Silver lining series follows 6 couples hoping for their wishes in individual novellas written by different amazing authors.

I absolutely loved this book! I have enjoyed all the books in this series but hands down this one is my favorite. I love a good friends to lovers' story and this one was perfect!

I adored everything about Tessa and Ryan. They have been friends and secretly wanted each other for so long that when Tessa agrees to be in a fake relationship with Ryan, they recognize their true feelings pretty quick. I loved that although they had a few obstacles to overcome there wasn’t any unnecessary drama between them. They brought out the absolute best in each other and had amazing chemistry.

I also loved Ryan’s and Tessa’s interactions with his adorable niece who has alopecia. Tessa was so sweet with her and made Ryan love her even more.

This may have been a Novella but it had so much packed into it. An amazing story, characters and the perfect amount of spice! I was honestly bummed it wasn’t longer because Tessa and Ryan were so perfect together. Hope to see Shawn get his HEA soon.

Truth? This book feels good!

First of all I have to say that I absolutely LOVE Tessa! She is everything I aspire to be. She was my favorite character in Whiskey Lies and Loving Whiskey as well. I love how bold and straightforward she is. She doesn’t beat around the bush. She’s not scared. She doesn’t let fear of embarrassment or rejection hold her back. She always says what’s on her mind without hesitation. Her humor is amazing and I get such a kick out of the things she says and does. I literally want to be Tessa when I grow up. As far as her Lumbersnack… OMGH! He character is chefs kiss. I have been craving their story ever since we got a taste of it in the Falling for Whiskey books! I was so happy that we got some spice early on in the book and weren’t kept waiting until the end. I really really enjoy Brittanee’s writing. Her characters come to life when you read her books, the stories always flow so well and keep you interested. Every book of hers that I’ve read so far I’ve had a hard time putting down and this was no exception. This entire series was so fun to read as it came out. I really enjoyed each book and I’m sad that it’s over. If you are on the fence about reading this, take this as your sign to do it! Just make sure you don’t have plans for the next few hours because you won’t be putting this baby down.

Wishing on Champagne Kisses is the last book of the Silver Lining series and it was fantastic. I am a big fan of friends-to-lovers romances and Ms. Nicole gave me just what I needed. Making a wish on a dollar bill that you wish that your best friend was your last first kiss and having that wish come true is like living at the top of the world. Ryan and Tessa have been friends for years but have never told one another that they secretly love one another and as more than friends Ryan needs a date to his sister's wedding and ends up telling them a little white lie, that he and Tessa have decided to give a relationship a shot. Well, what could go wrong? Spending time with the woman that you have loved forever and having to share a bed, with the odd hug, touch and kiss are nothing that Ryan can't handle. That is a huge understatement. Things heat up fast and they just get hotter and hotter.

I absolutely loved this story. To see the way that Tessa easily fit into Ryan's family's life and his as well was heartwarming. The way that they tell one another truths all the time and do not shy away from them. HEA can start with a wish on a dollar bill taped to the wall of the Silver Lining Bar.

This has been such a fun series! But all good things must come to an end...or so they say...

Wishing for Champagne Kisses is a steamy h-0-t best friends to lovers romance--if you've been reading along with the series, this is the *other* Ryan's story (the one who's been in most of the prologues/epilogues along with Shawn, who's not getting his HEA in this series, it'll be in a later book). We've seen him mooning from afar over his BFF Tessa, and now she's in Lake Tahoe to pretend to be his fake girlfriend ;)

To be honest, there wasn't *quite* as much of the "fake relationshipping" as I was hoping for, but what we do have here is so cute (and so steamy) it's hard to be too mad about it. Tessa has an outsized personality and made me LOL more than once; when she finally gets Ryan to pose for her "lumbersnack" photoshoot it was just too much!

This was my first book from Brittanee Nicole, but since I gotta see Shawn get his HEA (finally!) it's probably not going to be my last!

At the beginning of the Silver Lining Series, we met Ryan Manning and Shawn. Ryan had just come in off a bad fire and was needing something to ease his mind. He noticed the wall of wishes and when the two notice one on the floor, Shawn convinces him to replace it with his own.

A year later, and these two are now best friends, but Ryan has one who ranks above everyone else, his little 'Pixie', Tessa. Though they haven't seen each other face to face for close to a decade, they spend 15 minutes every day chatting.

When she is invited to his sister's wedding and to spend the holidays in Tahoe, could this possibly become something more than just a fake relationship. Ryan and Tessa are going to realize that maybe making a wish on a dollar bill isn't as cooky as it seems.

Everyone should believe in the magic of the wish after reading this series. The conclusion of this series is off the charts with laughter, steam, and moments that will tug at the heart strings. I will definitely be reading more of Brittanee Nicole, and can't wait for Shawn's story!

After reading Grace’s story I knew I needed to read Tessa’s story and I absolutely loved it, it’s a short and easy read and the interactions between Ryan and Tessa were perfect, they were friends since school and they always loved each other but they never knew how the other felt until now.

Ryan needed a date to his sister’s wedding so he asked Tessa to be his fake girlfriend and that’s when all of their feelings came to the surface. Tessa and Ryan flirted a lot and I loved their chemistry and how little by little their friendship started changing.

Tessa was really amazing, in her friend’s story she was a great friend and I loved reading her new side with Ryan and his family. She always made Ryan’s niece feel beautiful and after some time she finally realized being with him was all she needed.

Since it’s a short story everything evolved perfectly and in the end they both admitted their feelings and got the chance to be together after all those years of being just friends.

The Boston Billionaire Series Is Meant to Be Binged

The only thing wrong with this is Tessa and Ryan need a full length book ! I adored her in the Whiskey duet , the fun loving opinionated fairy creature who really was the best friend to Grace. She was flawed but funny, and this novella is my fave of 2023.
Brittanee brings the angst and wrings your heart in a vice and you keep coming back for more.
You fall hard for her men and Ryan our "lumbersnack" Fireman is the golden retriever with a dirty mouth in the bedroom that will make you swoon . I loved the family Christmas they shared , from Christmas Manicotti to Jenga night and you feel the season in every page . I just wanted more. More Ryan back story how he chose to be a Fireman, more days in Lake Tahoe with this couple as the seasons change . I love a second chance story , but its always been you is the best trope of all.

Tropes:holiday romance, friends to lovers, fake dating
This is the third book in the Boston billionaire series or the six in the silver lining series. You can read this as is without reading either series but there are characters that you see from other books and some things may get spoiled . Ryan is a firefighter and Tessa is a magazine writer. Tessa and Ryan have been friends for years but nothing romantic has ever occurred. Ryan decides he wants to bring a fake date to his sister wedding but things go from friends and fake dating to steamy relationship really quickly. This book is short but full of steamy scenes some humor and hope for future. Things I enjoyed with this :their friendship/relationship, the humor and spice .Things I didn’t love:under 200 pages and don’t love the friends to lovers trope isn’t my fave and I wanted more scenes with them and cash and grace together.

Ryan needs a fake date and Tessa is coming next week. But there are so many things running in the Ryan’s head, what if Tessa will not agree to be his fake date? What will happen if his sisters will catch him lying?

While Tessa still blames herself for Grace’s breakup as she spilled the beans and that turned her world’s upside down. Though Grace and her boyfriend are together again. Ryan and Tessa have grown up together and they are best friends who always had feelings for each other but it has taken so long for them to realise and accept them. Now it’s been twenty years but the feelings are same. Tessa has agreed to be his fake date for the wedding but perhaps, will they get stuck in groundhog day cycle of feelings or encapsulate their feelings to each other? Will Ryan make her fall in love with him?

Wishing for Champagne Kisses in the 6th and final book in the Silver Lining Series. Tessa and Ryan grew up together and are best friends. Though they haven't seen each other in 10 years, they talk almost every night. When Tessa goes to Lake Tahoe to pose as Ryan's fake date to a wedding, it will be the ultimate test of their friendship.

I absolutely loved this book! A Pixie and a Lumbersnack. Their chemistry was off the charts amazing! The banter between them and the sassiness from Tessa made this book. I loved how we still got to see the friendship between Tessa and Grace as well. As always, Brittanee's writing makes you feel like you are a part of this story. This is one I will definitely recommend.

Thank you Brittanee for this ARC.
