Dodgers: Eris Realm: Willow's Academy

Death incarnate doesn't get nice things like their own feelings.

Twins Zoey and Emma thought they knew who they were. But after one fatal night, Zoey finds out she is a Grim Reaper, and Emma must pretend to be a witch. The twins are placed on trial in a strange realm they had no idea existed, with people that want them dead. To avoid the death sentence for their parents' crimes, they must pass The Trials with all the other first years at Willows Academy, College for Mystic Fae. Zoey struggles with the new voices in her head, while Emma struggles to figure out who she truly is. The twins grapple with the secrets, lies, and pollical landscape of a realm their parents removed them from.

Threatened on all sides, and unsure who to trust, the twins try to navigate the world of the Fae their parents hid them from. Will they both survive with their head, hearts, and sanity intact?

I wish I could bibbidi-bobbidi-boo us both out of here.

Emma and Zoey are twins just trying to get through life without their parents. On one unlucky night Zoey finds out she's a grim reaper and their lives change immediately. Emma must pretend to be a witch to please Kyle who is supposed to be watching over her. They get dragged to court and then to a realm they know nothing about and must pass trials to prove they belong. This book was really well written and I enjoyed reading it very much. I thought the ending was really good and I was interested the entire time I was reading. I can't wait to see where Zoey and Emma's journey takes them in the next book!

I was gifted this ARC

This book follows twins, Emma and Zoey as they figure out survival as 18-year old twins figuring out adulting. Bad dreams, visions, and uncanny abilities to know where things are suddenly start changing how they see the world.

One bad shift at the strip club turns their normal completely upside down.

Suddenly they aren't in their apartment anymore, but standing trial in front of beings very obviously not human.

They will have to learn how to use the gifts they have been unable to see for the last 18 years, discover their own strength, and determine to survive in the midst of so many questions.

This fantasy series had me hooked immediately. The world building was so organic as it follows the sisters learning it all alongside us. There's a lot left unresolved that I'm excited to see how it wraps up in the next two books.

Wouldn't mind a reference note for the main terms used but that's totally a me thing.

Highly recommend!

This was a good start to the series, it follows twin sisters who are struggling to stay afloat after becoming adults and getting away from their terrible family who was raising them after their parenta died. The twins are literally whisked away to a whole other world after one of them accidentally uses powers she didn't know she had and the two are forced to attend the magical college vs going to jail. They struggle a lot and have various downs both together and individually, while trying to uncover the secrets their parent kept and learning to function with these new powers and new world. I did enjoy the story itself, the unique magic system and that it left enough room for unanswered questions so you still want to keep reading but didn't feel like a drag. If you liked Zodiac Academy but didn't enjoy the bullying then this series might be for you. (ARC)

I was fortunate to receive this ARC and I was not disappointed. This book introduces Emma and Zoey who are twins. They lost their parents at a young age and now are just trying to get through life. Then Zoey finds out she's a reaper and life as they knew ceases to exist. They were raised in the human world with no knowledge of what they truly are. Now they find themselves forced to attend willows academy or else get sentenced to DEATH. Emma has to pretend to be a witch because Kyle who has been watching over her told her. Then to top it off they must pass trials to prove they belong in a world they didn’t even knew about till now. This book was really well written. I enjoyed it very much. I can't wait to see where Zoey and Emma's journey takes them in the next book!

This book makes me happy lol. It's centered around twins who discover they actually belong to a magical realm and the book takes place at a magical school (though the book characters are very insistent it is NOT magic it is magic to me).

If you watched the Netflix show Fate: A Winx Saga and are upset Netflix cancelled it....this book will give you fulfillment. So many elements of it reminds me of that show and I desperately needed something to make me feel some sort of conclusion to that series. I am SO GLAD I stumbled upon this book and absolutely cannot wait for the next book.

Read read read.

I am a sucker for a fantasy world and this one has all new fantasy elements and magic system. Twin girls find out they aren't human and are whisked off to Eris where they literally have to fight for their lives. Full of secrets and intrigued I'm very curious to see how this story continues to unfold now that we have the foundation in place.

I loveeeeeeeeeed this book so much. I had the lovely opportunity to read the ARC and I was not disappointed. While reading, I felt like I had joined the characters in the book. The plot was amazing and I felt like I was really connecting with one of the characters. This was also my first time reading a paranormal romance novel and I was not disappointed. I can’t wait until the next book.

This is a great story. The world building is simply phenomenal. The cast of characters are very varied by deep. I love that you get to see the worlds through both of the twins eyes. For me there was a bit of a pacing issue. But overall it was an amazing novel.

tw: grief, alcoholism, violence, suicidal thoughts

if you like fantasy magic schools that cover darker topics give this book a read!

I didn't vibe with the book as much as I wanted to, but that's a me thing. I started off really wanting to read a book about a magic school, but as a mood reader my mood swapped mid read so I struggled to hold onto the story. I kept on going, but will be giving it a reread in the future when my mind is solely back on magic school vibes.

DNF at 50%

With that being said reading this gave me a lot of if Fate: The Winx Saga was actually adult. I loved the descriptions of when powers were being used it was so easy to vividly imagine. If alcoholism is a trigger for you please do not read this, it is mentioned quite often. It becomes a coping mechanism.
