It seemed no more than a seasonal gesture of good will, when private investigator Dave Skipper promised Sophie Baker he would carry out a feasibility study over the Christmas holidays, to see if there was any possible way to find her missing twin sister Molly, who disappeared whilst the family were on vacation in Portugal, seventeen years ago. But a series of events locked Skipper and his team into a dramatic, clandestine, plot-twisting investigation, across Europe and uncovered more than just the kidnapping of a child, but a vicious enigma labelled Mr Elusive.
This is NOT your run-of-the-mill detective story. Spanning several countries and numerous crimes, the team trying to originally locate an abducted child gets mired in all kinds of criminally complicated messes. So cleverly investigated, a truly amazing conclusion gets it all tied up.
I Hate Convenient "Coincidences" in Books it is Bad Writing! In this Book Parents have their Children taken away because the Home was Dangerous and Violent for the Children.
This is Undisputed. The Father was a Horrible Drunk, he in fact died because of being Drunk, the Mother was incompetent!
4 Years after the Children were Correctly taken Away the Mother tried to Hire a Firm to get them Back because: "I am Better Now I am Not the same Person anymore that I was..."
The Firm doesn't take the case... So the Mother and another Family member commits Suicide. 2 Suicides.
The Head of the Firm is Blaming himself...
Seriously Horrible Writing! Nobody in these Circumstances would Blame themselves for the Suicides. Blaming the City Government is also Wrong the Drunken Father Died Because of his Own Drunkenness. He was an obvious Threat to the Children and the Mother admitted that After 4 Years she Felt Ready to be a Good Parent...
The Parents are Not Sympathetic Characters! The Children Needed Removed from the Home...
Whatever Corruption exists in the Child Protective Services had Nothing to do with the Children being taken out of that Dangerous, Bad Environment.
The above is Not Even the Real Plot of the Book it is Just an Example of the Bad Writing in this Book.
How anyone can like this Manipulative, Dark Book is hard to understand.
A gripping story about trying to solve an old case of a missing child. The author has descriptive environments, as well as knowledge of local cuisine. Taking us through several countries the protagonist goes on a chase to try and find the perpetrator. A certain nonhuman clue starts the lead and the twists and turns come soon after. We start to get to know the perp's personalities through who they interacted with.
