ARC Review
⭐️⭐️⭐️ .5/5 🌶🌶/5

TW - rape (mentioned, neither MC), cheating, absent father, fighting parents, drug use (weed, secondary character), anxiety attacks (on page), fear of heights, claustrophobia (secondary character), depression (secondary character), death of a (step) parent (mentioned throughout), parental abandonment, cancer (terminal, relative)

Tropes - unrequited love (FMC and another character), forced proximity, friends to lovers, cheating, jealousy, slow burn, sports (tennis FMC, F1 MMC), age gap (21F, 33M)

Full transparency, I struggled deciding what to rate this book and have landed on 3.5⭐️ rounding up to 4⭐️ because there were many things I loved about this book but also a few things that irked me

Violetta (FMC) is a tennis player and she's amazing at her sport but, like a lot of people, struggles with insecurities and often doubts herself, her strength and her own abilities. A lot of this stems from her unrequited love for Ale's (FMC in Morphine) brother, León. Vio had been in love with him for many many years of her life and he rejected her and she seemingly never recovered. The thread of her unrequited love story present throughout this book didn't take away from the story of Vio and Xavier for me. I felt like it was an important story to tell, not only because it gives us true insight into Vio's character, but also because I feel like her feelings or even her situation as a whole will be very relatable for a lot of people

Xavier (MMC) and Vio start off as friends and it truly is an amazing friendship. Xavier is amazing with Vio's twin sisters and they truly seemed like they were all meant to exist in the same orbit from the beginning of this book. The two MCs are vulnerable and raw with each other and it adds to the amazing friendship that they have where they are each other's biggest supporters, but it also bridges them into the realm of romantic feelings which is all well and good apart from the nagging fact that Xavier is in a relationship he feels obligated to stay in.

Despite the character's open communication, a few things started to irk me. Granted, Xavier is going through a lot and has not had the best start to life, but him acknowledging the problem and how he can fix it and the proceeding to not do that was annoying for me and the will they won't they in the beginning was *chef's kiss* but it started to drag and get slightly repetitive for me. This book felt extremely long for a contemp romance and I feel like my feelings on the dragging would've been negated if it was shorter.

I also felt like there were a few similarities between how Vio felt about her situation with Xavier at some points with her feelings with León and I felt like she deserved better. I was rooting for both of them to just choose themselves which is defo easier said than done.

Scale:
⭐️ - would've DNF'ed / continued out of spite
⭐️⭐️ - shit, but whatever
⭐️⭐️⭐️ - meh, could've been better
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - lit 👅
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - loved it, inject this shit into my veins 🤪

🫑 - no smut
🌶 - no point
🌶🌶 - mediocre at best
🌶🌶🌶 - standard smut, hot
🌶🌶🌶🌶 - 🥵 okay, some CW
🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 - fuck me 🥵🥵 CWs / filthy with a side of filth - see Poison / Room Twenty-Two: Hide and Seek

This book made me want to blow myself up.

I don’t think a book has ever pissed me off so much to the point where I wanted to snap my phone in half.

Xavier is annoying as fuck. He refuses to break up with his girlfriend so he can be with the woman he “loves.”
He acted like he would rather die than hurt vio yet he dragged her along like some dirty side piece constantly making her promises he wouldn’t keep. Vio also pissed me off but we’ll get to her in a second. Vio told him that if he didn’t break up with his gf then she was done with him (which was a fucking lie btw) he doesn’t end up breaking up with her until the end of the book😐 so he wasted all that time with a girl he didn’t love because he was too much of a pussy to break up with her which obviously hurt vio a lot. You’d think that would make her finally leave his ass alone but of course it didn’t🙄.

Vio says over and over that she doesn’t want to be the other woman or someone’s second choice yet she’s constantly putting herself in these positions where those are the only outcomes. Vio was a home-wrecker and a dumbass. She was heartbroken over an unrequited love then started trying to pursue a man in a relationship like that was gonna end well. She willingly slept with him knowing he was in a relationship and then had the audacity to feel guilty and do the same thing again. Xavier didn’t even have to grovel after being an asshole because she was so spineless that she just took everything he did and deluded herself into thinking it was ok. At the end she finally got some fucking sense knocked into her and told him to break it off or leave her alone which she surprisingly stuck to her words. He breaks it off and I can’t tell you what happens after that because I stopped reading. I obviously left out lots of details but the important things you need to know is that this book has cheating, hardly any good romance, long and boring monologues, and characters that make you want to rip out your hair.

I rambled a lot so it probably won’t make very much sense but just know this book was awful and a huge waste of my time🫶🏻

ARC KINDLY PROVIDED IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW |ARC PROPORCIONADO AMABLEMENTE A CAMBIO DE UNA RESEÑA HONESTA

REVIEW IN ENGLISH & SPANISH | RESEÑA EN INGLES & ESPAÑOL

INGLES
First I want to start this by saying that thank you very much to Sam and her team for the ARC you don't know how long I have been waiting for this book for some strange reason I feel like two years have passed since Morphine instead of one and this book without lying is the most I have waited this year.

📌Let's talk about the story first
From the beginning the tropes were known and although friends to lovers is not one of my favorite tropes, it is not even something that I would choose on my own BUT AND I WANT TO SAY BUT from the moment Xavier and Violetta met I said I need to read your book.
Honestly, it is a book that I never expected to feel so much emotion from the beginning with the dedication, I was already shedding a few tears and as the story progressed, I was releasing more and more. There's no way this book doesn't hurt.
Each character has a story and therefore a past that hurts, in my life I thought that Xavier's story was so painful and that Violetta was a character who found herself in the midst of the duty of caring for the people she loves and developing herself only on this path she doesn't stop leaving space for herself.
Considering all of her past, everything she does makes sense and why she does it, but there comes a time when you just want her to have a moment of peace.

🌻Let's talk about the Characters
First, Xavier, I have to say that I love him very much, as I mentioned before, his story is NOTHING, NOTHING. What I expected, the worst thing is that you find out about 30% of it, so if you are reading this, prepare yourself, beautiful, because you're going to cry the relationship he has with his past is not all painful, but he has good memories and moments that make him the character we met in Morphine, but pain, friends, is something difficult to remove.
Violetta on the other hand is nothing, to what I thought it would be there was a part of the book where I forgot that she had Mexican roots therefore there were parts where I was surprised by the words and idioms that Sam if you are reading this BESOS because the relationship between the use and how the words were used CHEFS KISSES has a sense of culture that is there but does not necessarily have to be mentioned. On the other hand, her past hurts, not only because of that girl who had to listen to her past, but also because of the youngest that she was and because of the person she is being and growing through history. Violetta at first feels as if she had an obligation both to her family and to herself, and seeing her evolution is one of the most beautiful things. I don't want to say much because spoiler but I cried.

💖What I liked
I know the story may sound very general but it really is two people who are choosing for the first time, not only themselves but to be happy and this definitely made me cry more, it really was tears of joy because they deserve it and sometimes I think that is justification enough.
Btw I had never seen and understood what tennis represents but while he was reading I couldn't stop thinking I have to watch a game because the anticipation that is created IS AMAZING AND STRESSFUL 💕

What excites me the most
The future of the series I know that Sam has already mentioned that they will be two different worlds but honestly they are two worlds that I am excited to read especially The Rush World series the details and the research that is done on each element makes it worth reading each story that Sam writes.

P.S. I DO NOT FORGIVE YOU LEÓN.
(in the first chapters a want to hit you so much)

PD. NO PERDONO NI OLVIDO A LEÓN.
(en lo primeros capítulos un querer golpearte precioso

Violetta and Xavier’s story was a wild ride! This book took me through the world of Formula One, an exploration of the commitment to self love, and to Mexico and beyond. An avid tennis fan myself, I was excited to dive into Vio’s tennis season while learning more about F1. Sam Lynn does an amazing job of describing both sports in great detail for anyone who is new to the world (this was my first F1 read!).

It was so easy to immerse myself in both points of view throughout the book. I felt like I hated Xavier so many times just as I felt like I got frustrated at Vio’s lack of concentration and commit to her mental game. I was going THROUGH it with all of the emotional I experienced and I loved every moment. Sam Lynn did such a great job writing both characters because I felt every emotion in the moment. Seeing the growth Vio + Xavier each made was so rewarding, making their HEA so much sweeter.

If you like:

🎾friends to lovers
🏎️summer romance
🎾angsty slow burn
🏎️found family
🎾cheating
🏎️diverse main characters (🇲🇽🇧🇷)
🎾adventures of a lifetime

then this is definitely a book you should check out!

Adrenalina by Sam Lynn is the second book in the Rush World Series. This is Violetta and Xavier‘s story.

Violetta is a tennis player and I loved seeing this aspect of the book as I haven’t really read a lot about tennis in romances yet. She is very close with her twin sisters and a stable and caring figure for them. The family bond that later on turned into a found family situation was just amazing. Violetta develops so much as a person throughout the story, and I loved that.

Xavier‘s family situation is very jaded and formula one provided the perfect escape for him. He is a hardworking and loving man, and I immediately loved him. His mum is super sweet as well and I feel like part of their family now as well.

Violetta and Xavier meet through mutual friends while sharing a house. They get to know each other and become friends and I loved seeing that. They become very dear to each other, and I loved how Xavier shows Violetta more about his life and invites her to Brazil. Those were my favorite scenes, and they not only provided the perfect summer vibes, but truly deepened their relationship. I liked how this story didn’t only focus on romance, but how the characters grew individually and together.

Overall, this book was a stunning friends-to-lovers romance and a wonderful addition to this series. 4,5 stars.

ah, it’s nice being back in sam’s formula one world.
the world she created was fun and very detailed.

now, i don’t read much books with the a certain trope in it, but when i do, most often times they’ve been written in a way that you would go, “oh, okay. maybe it’s not so bad.” but that’s not me condoning that in real life. (miss me with that shit.)

anyways, this story follows xavier, and f1 racer and vio, a professional tennis player. their story takes you through all the motions. the angst, the tension, drama, family, heartbreak, and laughter. the slooow burn of it all.

despite it being a lengthy story, it definitely could have been shortened, all of it was a necessity to the characters growth.

overall, i enjoyed being back in the rush world and can not wait for sam’s next release.

*ARC for honest review.

TW: Mentions of statuary rape, cheating (emotional and physical), Drug use, depression, cancer, parental abandonment, death of a step parent, fear of heights, claustrophobia anxiety attacks

This was such a let down for me. The book was meh overall. The romance itself kind of lackluster to me. There were moments of bliss but it failed. It failed hard. The writing made it difficult in that both characters sound too similar to one another with the only difference being the hero is a overly positive man and the heroine is just insecure about the unrequited love she had for a guy that didn’t even want her. The cheating was just pointless and could’ve been avoided if possible especially since there was no other reason at all. she was the investor for his F1 team and the fact that girlfriend was a genuinely nice girl just make the whole situation worse even if they didn’t have much chemistry.

The third act breakup just made me so mad cause it seems like the it was thrown in there without any work put in for the relationship. It didn’t feel earned and feels in the same vein as with a lot of harlequin romance novels just cut off short with a cute happy ending after spending whole third act conflict being mad at each other. So so sad.

Adrenalina is a captivating novel that tells the story of Violetta and Xavier. It is the second book in the Rush World Series, and I highly recommend reading the first book before delving into this one to avoid spoilers. The book follows the journey of two broken people who found each other and chose themselves. The love story of Vio and Xavier is a beautiful encapsulation of this concept.

Violetta, a tennis player, is a character that I found relatable and realistic. She struggles with insecurities and has unrequited crushes on Leon as a teenager and now on Xavier. Her feeling of never being good enough is something that many readers can relate to. Xavier, on the other hand, is a people pleaser who wants everyone to feel loved, even if it means sacrificing his own happiness.
The book beautifully portrays the development of the characters as individuals and as a couple. The family bond and found family situation that emerge in the story are touching and heartwarming. The tennis aspect of the story was a unique touch that I enjoyed.

The relationship between Violetta and Xavier develops slowly and naturally, and I loved how the author didn't solely focus on romance but also showed how the characters grew together and individually. The scenes in Brazil were my favorite, and they provided the perfect summer vibes for the story.

Overall, Adrenalina is a book that made me laugh, cry, and swoon. It is a story that will resonate with readers who have ever struggled with insecurities and self-love. The Rush World Series is a must-read for romance lovers, and I can't wait to see what Sam Lynn has in store for us in the future.

We are back in the Rush World series and wow has it been an enthralling experience. They have a complex situation that doesn't make anything easy on either of them. There was so much of angst and tension coming from both sides. I really liked that the book was mainly about being enough for yourself and finding a way to love yourself as well as making sure to put yourself first for once.

I also really enjoyed the fact that they communicated and were not just leaving things as is. Violetta found something in Xavier that she had been looking for, for a long time. Violetta showing hard work and determination towards her goals and the fact that it was for herself and no one else was really amazing. I liked that she was a tennis player as its also such a good sport and I also haven't read a book where either of the MC were tennis players so it was exciting.

I enjoyed Xaviers profession and how it was always easy, the challenges he faces and still faced where well presented in this story. Its always great to see that everything's not always sunshine and rainbows but that they also face problems and learn to deal with them within their own capacity. You also get to see another side to Xaviers life that was surprising , if you look at his personality especially from his appearances in the first book. I definitely enjoyed the chemistry between Xavier and Violetta in this one, even though the book has something I would consider a major red flag I just couldn't help but solely focus on the connection between Violetta and Xavier. The epilogue was just what we needed.

I have received this book as an ARC from Sam Lynn and Give Me Books Promotions and this review is based on my own opinions.

Trigger warning: profanities, explicit content, mentions of rape, cheating, 18+

'You were meant to be in the world to create light and joy. Quite frankly, you've become that for me, so never think you're a mistake because you're a lot of people's miracle.'

Violetta plays tennis as a professional.
Xavier is a famous Formula 1 driver.

When Vio visits her friend Ale at one of the grand prix weekends, she meets Xavier and the two immediatly hit it off as best friends.

A couple months later Violetta is staying in Ale's house in Acapulco with her sisters for a bit when Xavier suddenly walks in.

The two are starting to like each other more and more but it is impossible for them to actually get together.

Adrenalina is the second book in the Rush World series with a Formula1xTennis thrope but can be read as a standalone.

The only downpoint for me were the Spanish/Portuguese sentences in the book because they didn't have some sort of translation or explanation about what was said so I didn't understand them.

But 5 big fat stars for this book because omygosh I loved it so much. I liked the characters, I liked how Xavier interacted with Vio and I liked the 'relationship' between Xavier and Vio's sister Cleo 🥺.

Adrenalina is the 2nd standalone novel in the Rush World Series. I strongly recommend reading book 1 prior as some spoilers to that couple is mentioned. Adrenalina is about two people who finally chose themselves. Two broken people who found each other. Having been separated by insecurities, but we’ve chosen ourselves for once and that’s what makes their connection stronger.Vio and Xavier’s love story is the encapsulation of that.Violetta sees herself as someone with unrequited crushes, first with Leon as a teenager and now Xavier. But what pains her is she feels that she’ll never be good enough and that feeling is so profound and realistic.
Xavier a people pleaser, wanting to please everyone else regardless of how he truly feels. He wants everyone to feel loved as he never got the loved he wanted from his father. It’s a bittersweet quality because subconsciously he is sacrifice the thing he loves because he’s scared.
This book made me laugh, cry, throw my kindle across the room but also made me swoon and understand that it’s okay to not be liked as long as you are loved by yourself.

Firstly, thank you so much to the authors for the opportunity to read this book as a arc. (ITS NOW RELEASED!! GO GET A COPY🥳). I truly loved it and had the best time reading it🫶🏻

This is book 2 in the ‘Rush World’ series and we follow Xavier and Violettas story. this was a WILD ride and I LOVED it! ps : I’m totally obsessed with the character names❤️

Our mmc Xavier has a really tricky family situation and formula 1 (F1) was his only escape. He loved it so much. Xavier Is caring, loving and super hardworking - I fell head over heels for him! I also felt really close to his mum and I loved feeling connected to them both.

Now, onto our gorgeous fmc Violetta. She’s a tennis player and if you know me well, I am a tennis player and I am obsessed with the sport! when I saw the tropes for this book I immediately jumped up and down because it’s something I have NEVER seen in any romance book before! she has 2 twin sisters who she is soooo close to and is such a wonderful figure for them. I loved their family bond and I felt so close and connected to them all. The fact that it turned into a found family situation was beautiful! I also really love Violettas character development throughout the book, she truly was an amazing character🩷

They met each other through mutual friendships while sharing a house (we all know how that ends👀). As they started getting to know each other more, they became friends and I rally enjoyed seeing that blossom. They became really close and important to each other and Xavier started to show Violetta more into his life. ANDDDD…. When he invited her to brazillll! Ahhhh they were perfect and we had SO MANY good scenes and summery vibes. this developed their relationship sooo much and I loved seeing them both grow independently and together 🧸I already want to re-read because I am so obsessed with these characters and this story!!! Definitely making it to one of my favourite reads of the year🥰

ps: take a look at the covers because WOWWWWW your not ready for them!!✨🎾🏎️

Adrenalina truly is one of the most beautifully written and emotional sports romances I’ve read this summer . I loved that it’s not your typical happily ever after love story . It’s a journey about two beautifully flawed and broken people who learn to love themselves and find each other at their lowest moments. It’s about love and healing and second chances . It’s about learning to overcome your insecurities and finding the strength to move forward . It’s filled with angst , humor , witty banter, passion, love , secrets, twists and turns , drama, family , friendships, heartbreaking and heartfelt moments and characters you will not be able to stop yourself from falling in love with . I was definitely not prepared for all the emotions I felt while reading. One second I was smiling, the next I was crying, then I was so frustrated I wanted to throw my reader right across the room . If your a fan of Sports romances , forced proximity, friends/ lovers and age gap . Then this a must read for you .

I really liked the universe of the Rush World series so I had been anticipating a bit the release of Adrenalina. It was my first book with the cheating trope and I liked it, I'm considering reading more books with it. I loved the male main character but I kept rolling my eyes at almost everything the female main character did. She's incredibly insecure and she pissed me off so many times. Insecure characters aren't for me - that's something I'll make sure to check out before starting a book from now on. However, the main characters chemistry was palatable and they make a great couple. They also had good banter, which was nice to read. Another thing that didn't work for me was the pacing. The first 40% felt rather mundane and repetitive, and the last 20% were when everything happened. Finally, bonus point for the mood boards. I'm still looking forward to reading the next books in the series as they are the ones that intrigued me the most. Please note that some heavy topics were hinted at, mentioned and/or talked about so this should be taken into account before reading.

After reading (and loving) Morphine, I was sure Sam Lynn would surprise me yet again, but I did not expect Vio and Xavier. They came and stole my heart in a matter of chapters. This story got under my skin so fast, I can't even properly describe it.

Both Vio and Xavier were so lovable. I related to Vio in so many instances and I felt her struggles. Xavier? The sunshine man! He was impossible not to like. And them together? They were meant to be. No dispute there. With such a tumultuous story, the only result is an endgame.

All the tropes in here were executed so so well. They had substance and good motives and I enjoyed every one of them so much. Also, I have to add that this book and its author have a lot of admiration from me for putting some spotlight on the beautiful sport of tennis. There should be many more tennis romances out there, and if you are looking for one, pick this one up. You won't regret it.

Overall, 4.5 stars from me! What a journey!

Okay… Here we go and one more book in this series. I confess that when I saw the tropes I was a little afraid (cheat trope definitely isn’t my favorite and I usually don’t read book with this trope, but I give a chance in this one and I need to say: even if I still don’t like the trope, this book works with the theme very well).
Vio and Xavier have a wonderful building of relationship, they slowly attract each other (friends first and slowly romantically). Even if some decisions made me angry (mostly Xavier behavior, I need to say), the book at any moment treats the trope lightly. It’s raw and emotional in some ways, and I liked to see this in a book. It’s a good romance, and I really liked this story more than I first thought of it.

This is the second book in this intriguing series, and this is Violetta / Vio and Xavier’s story. These two are both broken souls who find each other.
This is a well written friends / lovers, emotional roller coaster, with an age gap, trauma, insecurities, sacrifices, unrequited feelings, forced proximity, drama, humor, witty banter, jealousy, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining and addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

“She’s my beach and I’ll always find my way back to her.”

5/5. This is a friends to lovers, contemporary sports romance that entertained me from beginning to end. The plot offered so much for me to devour: sisterhood antics, relatable trauma, significant and accurate F1/Tennis sport scenes, christmas traditions, summer adventure, comedic banter, vulnerable and realistic characters with sizzling tension. It was overall really unique and unlike anything I've ever read before. When I tell you this is a slow burn in regards to romance—this is a slow. burn. And to preface, there is cheating involved which added to the slow burn aspect however the way it was written was the best I’ve ever read and perfect for this story specifically. Violetta and Xavier were adrenaline to each other and to say I’m addicted to these two would be understatement. In professional terms: This book is a well rounded novel that shines a new light on the sport fields that it focused on, human vulnerabilities and emotional growth. In reader terms: I. Freaking. Loved. It.
