I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Firstly, I want to point out that, much as it's said this can be read as a standalone ... it can't. I didn't know it was SIXTH in a series until opening Goodreads, but it shows, and you won't know the world, the characters, or the stakes if you start with this one.

Second, no I don't mind there's sex in the book. It's about a vampire finding his mate - duh. Obviously there'll be sex. That's fine.

Third, that's not why I gave this story two stars.

Overall I like the premise, but I really wish I'd started at the beginning. That aside, I often felt confused, the writing didn't flow well, and it jumped a lot without clearly marking that there was supposed to be a jump. Example: Christine is painting and Sebastian is wiping paint from her cheek. They're talking about portraits, there's an exposition dump, then she turns to ask her son to do something about her gown, and Sebastian walks in to tell them dinner's about to start.

See what I mean? Nowhere in those interactions do we actually see the transition, and you're left watching slides just move in front of your eyes.

The copy I read was also filled with other numerous grammatical errors that usually don't bother me, but there were a LOT of them here, mixed personal pronouns, constant jumps between present and past tense in the same sentence when presenting the story ("I look and see that my mate's eyes are glowing; I listened to the pack leader speaking while keeping my mate's eyes on me") etc.

Some sentences also didn't make sense. There's one where it goes along the lines of "Killian waved at Cassius, his best friend, who was ready to become an assassin and his fiercest protector." This is all well and good, except that Cassius isn't going to be an assassin, the way this sentence proclaims - Killian is. It's just written badly and inconsistently, at one point specifically mentioning Christine's outfit and then changing it in the span of a page.

I don't know whether this is solely because of it being an ARC, or if this type of thing simply escaped editing, but it's not good, and brings the whole thing down.

Because I like it otherwise - the compound, the transition, the fact vampires' hearts beat once they find their mates, Christine and Sebastian's story along with the incubus and the supporting cast. The warlock kind of came out of left field but, I could even take that!

It's just that, while I'm not a snob, I kinda prefer my books to be an enjoyable read, which they aren't when plagued with this many errors.

I like the world, I like the characters, I like the idea of a magical realm, but sadly I don't think I'll be coming back to this one.

Another dimension called Bergarian holds supernatural creatures: vampires, werewolves, orcs, dark elves, etc. This book is the 6th in the series. In the beginning, Christine goes home after a bad break up with her ex bf Wyatt after graduating from college. She goes home to be comforted by her white cat Christopher and her stuffed dog Bob. She arrives home to find out that her mother is a Beloved of a vampire named Justin. Christine’s father is hardly ever home and he is a piece of work. Christine doesn’t believe everything that is going on, but she follows her mom and Justin back to his Coven. There she learns more about the Supernatural world that has been hidden from her all her life.

Poor Christine can’t be with her mother because she has been turned and is in the bloodlust phase so it is dangerous.

Sebastian is a vampire who is over 500 years old and has come to find his second chance Beloved. He was sent by Queen Clara to Earth to find her. There is a lot going on in the book- a little politics between Supe groups, a lot of differences in wooing. I am totally in love with Suran and my heart broke for him. I just wanna squish all the kids that are in the Coven. They are just too cute and Suran is like King babysitter.

Christine’s bio dad is a piece of work. As is Wyatt. Both cause a lot of problems. A lot of reveals in the book and I can’t wait for the next book. I don’t usually start in the middle of a series, but this book got me hooked- so I’ll be going back to get the others.

So good!

Vera Foxx sure knows how to write a good story! I've read all the books in this series up to this point, and they've all been amazing! They are all nice and long, some are really long, which I like. Stories that end too soon are depressing. They have great plots, and it's crazy how all the characters from all the books intertwine together. The sex scenes are pretty good. They could be better, but I'm not complaining. The only real disappointment is the actual writing itself. There are so many grammatical errors, poor sentence structures, and misspellings. It's like there wasn't any proofreading done to these stories at all. Some sentences are so bad that you have to reword them yourself just to make them make sense. And it gets worse with every book. It's kind of annoying, actually. The misspelled names got to me the most because it would be the difference between, say, Rider and Riker, so you didn't know which name was right. And it would happen more than once. It really threw me off a few times. That said, I couldn't put the books down, I just had to know what happened next. There's action, adventure, love, sex, mystery, friendship, torture, death, magic, fantasy, royalty, family, hatred, jealousy, a tiny bit of BDSM, joy, sadness, and a whole lot more in this book. If that tickles your fancy, then I highly recommend this series! Enjoy!

His True Beloved is the second book I’ve read from Vera Foxx and I enjoyed it even more than the first! It was steamy, action-packed, and heart-warming all in one. Sebastian and Christine were a perfect couple. I’m a sucker for a good vampire romance and this did not disappoint!

One thing I’d like to note for anyone interested in reading this series: the books - as advertised - most definitely are able to be read as standalones. I didn’t feel in reading the first book that I read (#7) that I was missing any key details important to the storyline. However, after reading this book, some of the little details from the other book were given a lot more context. For that reason, if given the option, I would recommend reading the entire series. But know that either way, if you choose to read the whole series or not, that you will not be missing out on a good story!

Once again, Vera Fox has written a great book and I cannot wait to read more! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is my first read by Vera Foxx, and I'm definitely fascinated with the world she has built. The romance was not a slow burn, Sebastian and Christine are quick to recognize their bond. No suffering waiting for them, even though it moved quick there was always something to keep me on my toes.

The secondary characters are the gem of this book, Suron and Pamela were my favorite characters. They were entertaining in all the right places.

This book is part of a series, I took the chance to read this book as it did say I could read as a standalone, I feel like the earlier books may have gone into the history of beloveds/mates and a little more world building throughout the 5 books prior to this. It was still a good read, I will most likely re-read when I start the series in order.

I really couldn’t put this book down!! From the very beginning the author had me hooked on this story. I really liked the new spin that the author put on vampires and their beloveds. I have always been a fan of the supernatural since I was a teenager with reading the House of Night series and of course Twilight.

This was my first time reading a book by Vera Foxx and while the book is a part of a series it can be read as a standalone. However I feel like the other books will have background on some of the characters that I wanted to know more about.

This is a dual pov story and I really loved reading from both the FMC and MMCs pov. However if that bothers you I wouldn’t suggest the book for you.

For the lovers of romance, supernatural and fated mates I highly recommend this story.

3.5 ⭐️

This is my first book by this author and I must say I’m intrigued. First of all I am a sucker for a vampire romance - so this book instantly hooked me (I mean I’ve been a twilight fan/TVD fan since I was a young teen so yes I have been obsessed with vampires forever)

This book follows Sebastian & Christine. Sebastian who loses his first beloved before he gets a chance to bond and Christine who is a haemophiliac that wants nothing to do with vampires.

Sebastian is just an absolute gentleman, I am obsessed 😩 Also Christine I adored her character!

Fast paced✔️

Vampire romance ✔️

Spicy✔️

Mates/Beloved✔️

Christines adventure starts when she goes with her mother to a coven where vampires who had found their Beloved, mate go to become vampires themselves. Which coming home and finding out that her mum had fell in love with a vamp. And was preparing to become one!!
Having recently split from her long-term boyfriend ,Christine decided she was going to go along to protect her mum from this ' cult '.
Finding herself in a world that was not as normal as she had thought.
In this great read you find yourself immersed into a crazy world of Vampires ,Witches, incubuses, werewolves and of course fated mates.
I couldn't read this quick enough. From start to finish enthralling.

This book is superb. It has romance, a stalking demon, a war, smut and supernatural beings. What else can you expect?
From the start and enjoyed both Christine and Sebastian as characters and I liked how their relationship developed. I also really like that it takes a while and then we get to follow their life for years.
The plot of the book is fascinating and it has quite a few twists and turns so you get surprises as well. I like how all the characters bring something to the story and there’s isn’t any filler characters, they all have their own story.
The writing is good although there were a few times it took me a while to comprehend what I read.
All in all, a great book and I’m now going to go and read other books in the series

This second chance romance had me glued to the pages from start to finish. When Christine's mother told her she was going to mate with a vampire and be turned into one Christine went along to make sure her mother was safe. Along the way she connects with Sebastien who has been alone in the world after losing his loved one. He finds his fated mate in Christine, but Christine is suffering from heartache and has closed her heart off. Sebastien has a difficult task ahead, but their journey begins. Will he shatter the walls around Christine's heart and get their chance for happiness.

This book could have been separated in 2 books. It has vampires, werewolves, warlocks, witches , succubus and lot’s of love scenes! I really liked the explanation of the beloved, the whole concept of moving in with your step- father vampire and the idea of another world accessed by a portal.

Felt like the epilogue was too quick , ranging many years . It could have been its own book. I would like to read the assassin’s love story.

His True Beloved: A Vampire's Second Chance was my introduction to this fantastic paranormal universe. It was very steamy but at the same time, it had a soft feel so it does not bog you down in only sex. I love all the characters. They're so well developed. I immediately purchased everything I could from this author, who was new to me.

I received this as an ARC copy for my honest review. I love the characters and their progress within the book. You could not help but fall in love with Christine and Sebastian’s story. Everyone needs a friend like Pamela and Suron. Those two are fantastic. When you thought you figured out what was going to happen, the story takes a hard left to keep you guessing. Once I started reading, I knew that I was hooked and wanted to read more.

This book was good. I think it had an interesting storyline with a lot happening. I do think the author struggled with her point of view. Sometime you would be in a chapter and then suddenly it would switch to another POV without warning. This only happened a few time but it did make me pause and have to reread it to make sure I was understanding everything correctly.

Side note: I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review

The book is a second chance romance (for both of them, technically) and it was a sweet union between two people that just fit. I liked it overall but it was a but hard to fully get lost in it. The characters were fun. I liked the inserts for Pamela’s story. I also liked the humor of Suron. It was generally nice. Just wasn’t a great book.

The two leads were a good match and had chemistry so that was good.

Christine had wasted the past 5 years in a relationship that went no where now her mum is transitioning to a vampire to be with her new love, and Christine tags along, not expecting to come across Sebastian. Sebastian knows Christine is his second chance. Well written steamy fast paced, engaging from the start.

grammar grammar grammar.

There were a lot of grammatical errors in this book. He where it should’ve been she. Her where it should’ve been him and so on. The story itself was unique. I liked the characters a lot. My rating would’ve been higher if the grammar was better. I felt that it was an unnecessary distraction that could’ve been fixed with better editing.

beautiful

I’m not one for vampires the blood stuff weirds me out lol. But this book this story was perfectly written. Normally with vampires I have to stop when they mate the drinking seemed weird. Thankfully it was elegantly done and respectful nothing like what most people write for vamps

Great book in this series

Full of drama and love stories this was a good read. I enjoyed the storyline. Each character graced the book with their own individual stories while the main focus was on the two main characters.

I enjoyed this novel. I was glad to see that Sebastián received his own book. I honestly thought it would of dived into more detail about their actual ruling as king and queen since that's where under the moon novel ended off on but it was only the last chapters. I hope Cassius gets his own novel.
