Mate Hunt: Feral Pack #1

Captured by the Wolf

Rate this book
It shouldn’t be possible, but my fated mate is a werewolf.

He definitely got the raw end of the bargain, because I'm not a wolf or a human; I'm a demon.

And not a powerful or popular demon, either. I'm literally the janitor in a nightclub called Hell.

My magic won't allow us to be separated, and his demands I somehow figure out a way to wolf out myself and literally sink my teeth into him.

I have to find a way past both of our people's strange mating processes so we can live our own separate lives.

But the more I adjust to life with my wolfy mate and his small town full of werewolves, the more I start to wonder…

Do I want to be freed from him at all?

*This is the first in a series of steamy connected standalones, five are planned currently. Humor and happily ever after guaranteed ;)

4.5 stars. I loved this.

The world building is interesting, the relationship development was a lot of fun, and the spice was spicing. (tho surprisingly, this isn't as spicy as it could have been)

I loved meeting Morgan. I don't completely understand why she was so reviled back home, but I loved how Axel grew to adore her.

My heart was hurt by them pushing away from each other, but the cozy cuddles in sweats made me so happy.

I cannot wait to read Kai's and Iris's story. Heh heh heh.

This ended so abruptly?? There was so much more I wanted to see from the couple. These are interconnected stand-alones, though, so maybe we see more of them in the next book? Still a fun werewolf book!

So, the feral pack is actually just a bunch of werewolves who hate women for the stupidest reasons. MC's mate treats her horribly and the author writes it as if he is dreamy. Awesome, we should all pretend that we'd be fine with a mate who abandons us to live in the woods with men who behave like children and who only came back to her because she started working in a bar. And he came back growling and forcing her to quit. Which she totally did, but the author made it out to be because she liked working in a coffee shop better. And I also hate the way that when the said bastard of the mate came barging back into mc's life, the author had our girl be drunk and whimpy. Seriously? This book pissed me off.

Captured by the Wolf de Lola Glass Serie Mate Hunt: Feral Pack libro 1

Argumento:

Morgan has a horrible life in Myst City. She is a demon who can't control her weak powers so she is forced to live in the fire proof city. She is mostly ignored because of her lack of powers because the more powerful the demon the more beautiful they are considered to be. She is forced to work a job as a cleaner in a strip club and gets paid very little. She can't really make ends meet and she has no hope of things getting better. The only bright spot in her life is her best friend who is a vampire. However her friend is suffering from mate sickness and can't move so Morgan has to support both of them. Then one day, Morgan's flame power goes nuts and takes her to her fated mate. To her big surprise, her mate is a beta werewolf from a feral pack. The mate hunt is on!! Not only is there the werewolf mating stages that they have to go through, there is the demons stages too.

Axel had sworn to never take a mate because his feral pack is against mates dur to some past experiences. He swore to himself that he would turn his back on his mate if he should ever find his and stay loyal to his pack. Then his mate suddenly flashes into his life and she is a demon. Axel is transformed into his wolf form until he turns her. His packmates explain to Morgan that he doesn't really want to mate her and she is determined to make their mating a one time thing. However when he turns Morgan, some very interesting things start to happen/.

(I am part of the arc team for Lola)

So I *adore* the Mate Hunt world and I was so excited to see that it was branching out to more supernatural beings! I love Morgan and I love seeing about demons! I just felt like Axel was sort of controlling (hence why I think it might be just a bit of a genre thing). While previous werewolf mates always had a possessive edge to them, I found they tended not to be toxic. But Axel wanting to control how Morgan dressed and where she worked just gave me bad vibes and I felt like his behaviour outside of that was not interesting enough or thoughtful enough to redeem that. I still enjoyed it and read it as fast as I possibly could, I just enjoyed the elements without Axel in them (like cameos from previous characters) much more.

Loved it!

I loved this book so much! But, then again I love everything Lola Glass writes. This was a really cute, short and sweet paranormal romance where a wolf shifter falls in love with a demon, his mate.

And while they were both reluctant at first it ends with a happily ever after! Honestly, Lola Glass is top notch when it comes to shifter romance. She can write those possessive men like no one else. I can’t wait to read the next one! Happy reading all!

I loved being back in the this wonderful and familiar world, with great new characters who bring plenty of drama and laughter with the,. You can read the previous series , but you won’t be lost if you don’t want to as everything is explained and you won’t be lost. I’d dive right into to wherever you want but you’re guaranteed a fun time.

This series was so much fun to read. I love that the characters have depth without getting into too much detail that it creates anxiety. Every story is a fun read with characters you love. Lola Glass is a master at this.

Super meh vibes. Just not great overall between the plot, the paranormals history and especially the characters.

I skipped the connecting series to this one because I wasn't interested in a book where the MMC is stuck in wolf form for much of the story. And I was def disappointed when this one pulled the same thing. Should I have been surprised? No. That's on me tbh 😆

Thankfully by some weird and vaguely described miracle the FMC gets bitten by her mate early on and gets the roles reversed so she's in wolf form for a bit. Which I enjoyed a little more.

Although I still stand that equal POVs between MCs is a thousand times better than being forced solely into one characters head, specifically the FMC. I annoy myself daily so being held hostage in a FMC POV endlessly and dealing with their overreactions and assumptions drives me nuts. But that's a me problem and I'm used to this problem as a reader.

Honestly I just found it underwhelming. The history of the feral pack, how they seemed super biased and didn't seem to like women because of bad experiences was just random as hell imo. I mean, bonding over bad experiences is cool but the vibe didn't vibe how the author might've wanted imo.

The FMC Morgan was just so ridiculous. Her and the MMC Axel could go get lost in the wilderness together for all I care. Both stupid as hell and emotionally immature. So much non communication and miscommunication and very quick assumptions just made everything a shit show before the halfway mark.

And I'm honestly so sick of authors making the FMC out to be the victim in relationships when it comes to simple misunderstandings or miscommunication. Especially in this book. The FMC straight up misunderstands what the MMC says and jumped to some wild ass conclusions about what "he said without saying it" and acted accordingly. Good God. Just moronic behavior. I had to reread the entire scene three times to try and understand how she could even come anywhere near such an idea that that was what he meant but nope, it made no sense at all.

But really both MCs were at fault for all the strife between them. The FMC was never honest about what she wanted or expected from a mate. Not even how her demon mating process actually went. And then had the audacity to get upset and hurt when the MMC leaves her for his pack after she made it impossible for him to touch her anymore. And he never told her what he wanted or expected either. They both stupidly claimed the week they were going through the climax of the werewolf mating process they wouldn't talk or get to know one another. So, I'm sorry but was I supposed to feel bad for either one of them for getting their feelings hurt or feeling unwanted by their own mate when they both acted that stupidly? Or how despite both MCs being one hundred percent at fault for their issues the MMC is the one being made out to be the bad guy and forced to grovel and prove himself to her??? Really?!

Ugh. I'm only reading new books by this author from now on. Her older ones just don't do it for me.

this book went from a pretty solid 4 to a disappointing 2 in just the span of 10 pages. i found myself tentatively enjoying the story at the start, but once we got to the 70% mark when morgan met with axel’s pack for the first time, i found myself abruptly losing all interest in this book and couple like a cut cord.

it was one thing to try and ignore just how controlling axel was about morgan’s clothing choices and her job, but to see how aggressively he handled the situation with the pack made me so physically uncomfortable. he literally showed up at her house and was banging on the door, shouting that he was going to break down the door if she didn’t let him in, and that is w/o a doubt the most dangerous situation i have ever seen a werewolf willingly put their mate in in this series. needless to say, i despised it with my whole heart.

i think i’ve become too spoiled after reading the OG mate hunt series bc i’m now too used to seeing all of these men be so sweet, caring and patient with their partners. witnessing how rude and callous axel and his whole pack turned out to be was really just a violent wake up call. reading this book made me feel not only vindicated in my uncertainty about this spin-off series in general, but also had me disinclined to continue with the rest of the books. what a massive, massive disappointment.

I didn't get why he rejected her in the first place. He told his wolf it was her or the pack but never explained why those were the only options. I think it was because he wanted to live in a tent by the pack and she didn't, so that was a deal breaker, maybe? Anyway, I just wasn't interested in these characters because their decisions didn't seem consistent and lacked logic.

Could not stand Axel and his band of women-hating creeps. He clearly didn’t respect her or females in general, and it was impossible to look past. I’ve read a number of Lola Glass’s books - it’s my mind candy of choice - but I can just not get past how much this guy (and his crew) sucks. Morgan deserved better.

Reseña — Captured by the Wolf (Mate Hunt: Feral Pack #1) de Lola Glass

Firstly, I absolutely LOVED this book. Lola’s stories are always so well written with humour, romance and human nature (worries, insecurities, etc causing problems) but this one is a step up again; and much more feral.

Morgan is a low demon who’s been treated 3rd rate all her life. When her flames take her to Moon Ridge and she finds herself on Axel, one of the Feral werewolves from the original “Mate Hunt” series, she knows it’s taken her to her fated mate (though not who/what she was expecting). Axel’s surprised as he hadn’t expected to find his mate, let alone her to be a demon.

There are some brilliant twists as they have to get through not only the werewolf mating process, but the demon one as well (which brings more problems along with a lot of humour). I didn’t want to put it down and found my smile getting bigger the more I read. It was great to have the original pack helping members of the Feral pack, and seeing them all again.

I also loved Morgan’s love and care for her vampire flatmate and best friend Iris; getting her out of Mist Valley when she herself first moves to Moon Ridge, finding others in the town to help feed her, and trying to help her find a furry mate of her own. I can’t wait for the next in this series.

Morgan is just such a beautiful person. She has been overlooked, belittled and pretty much trodden on all her life. She has had to fight for all that she has and she is also doing her best to keep her best friend Iris alive. Somehow under all that she has also held on to the sunshine in her soul. What she doesn't know how to deal with is the sudden appearance of a werewolf mate. He's going to leave her and break her a bit more like everyone else has but at least she is out of the city. Axel is a darling but it is safe to say he is somewhat mixed up about having a mate. He'd never expected it or planned it and yet he was prepared for it. Shows how muddle he was before Morgan comes literally crashing into his life. What he needs to do though is make a decision and it is not going to be an easy one. This was a brilliant book and once I picked it up I could not put it down. I want all the stories for the feral pack guys and I hate waiting but for this author I will. Still I have something to hold on to as the next one looks to be just a fun a read. As soon as I read Iris was in Kai's house I could not not picture them together. I cannot wait for the next one!

I'd learn every one of her fucking secrets. They were mine. She was mine. And regardless of whatever the future held, I knew that was one thing that would never change.

4.25 stars!

I haven't read most of the previous books in Lola's Mate Hunt series, which is probably why I found myself confused by the mating rituals in the beginning of this story. However even though I'm a fairly new Lola Glass reader, I've come to really enjoy her heroine's snarky and no-nonsense attitude, and so I kept reading. I loved the witty banter between Axel and Morgan as they slowly figure out what they want from each other and their future together, but I loved Morgan's strength and sense of independence when Axel acted like a clueless mate. Overall, this was another great story from an author I've come to love🖤

Tropes: fated mates, mating ritual, shifter/demon pairing, down-on-her-luck heroine, alpha jp hero, hate-to-love-you, mating frenzy, dual POV, STEAMY🔥

WOW WOW WOW😍

I LOVE the first mate hunt series—like top favorite series ever—and I can’t believe I’m saying this but this book was sooo much better imo! It was SO SO GOOD!

I was so beyond excited when I saw this book was going to be released! I pre-ordered it and stayed up all night to finish it! I just couldn’t put it down!!! Morgan was my favorite FMC ever and Axel was … wowwww 🥵 this was spicier than the original books and I was here for it 👏🔥 I love the new world of other supernaturals and that Morgan is a demon with a vampire best friend. Morgan and Axel’s HEA was hard fought and I loved every minute of it.

And that endingggg! Gahhhh I cannot wait for the rest of the series and Iris’ story next!!! I’ll just be here, (im)patiently waiting for Lola to work her magic to bring us more 😩

MUST READ if you love fated mates, bada$$ demon/werewolf hybrid FMC who knows what she wants, sexy wolfy MMC who can’t keep his hands off his mate and apologizes when he’s wrong, and a whole lotta 🌶️

Morgan is a very poor demon that lives with a very sick vampire. All of sudden, Morgan’s powers transport her on top of a werewolf. It is hysterical from there on out as he is her mate. So they have to go through both mating sets. Nico, the feral wolf pack’s Alpha, speaks for his Beta, Axel who is Morgan’s mate. So much goes on that is funny, but there is also quite a few “oh no he didn’t” moments from a lot of the characters.

The werewolves live in Moon Ridge which is nearby where the other mystical or mysts live in Mist Valley. Iris, the very sick vampire, is going through her mating sickness which means she needs to find her mate. If she doesn’t find him soon, she could die. The names of the rest of the feral pack: Kai, Enzo, Finn, and little Lucas. We also get to see some of the characters from another series- crossover!- lol. Like Ryder and Charly as well as a bunch of others.

I really loved this book and can’t wait to find out who is Iris’ mate. I have a funny feeling he is one of Axel’s friends….

Morgan is a talented Bartender with her demon's fiery magic. For a long while, she worked cafes
and coffee shops in another town and had a promising career in front of her.

Axel, usually a grumpy werewolf, has been through a major trust issue with women. So, when he meets Morgan, he is stirred but not happy. His wolf, however when he sees Morgan, he utters one w0rd, with his eyes turning red and that word is Mate. this is Morgan and Axel's story and it is worth reading.

I discovered this author not so long ago through books she wrote and sort of fell under her spell. She has a special way to creating stories about the paranormal with the main characters engaging in dialogs with a funny attitude under the worst circumstances and using sass and witt that made this reader laugh at certain moments during my reading this story, while also keying up my interest in the plot as well as reactions from all the characters the author uses in her story.

The book turned into a page turner that I highly recommend with a rating of 5 Stars. If I could give it ten stars, I would.
