'𝐓H𝐄 𝐇O𝐏E W𝐄 𝐊E𝐄P' Is the third full length book in the (LOST LIGHT) series by author Kyla Stone Spoken in 'dual perspectives.' 'C𝐇A𝐑A𝐂T𝐄R𝐒' Elli Pope, Jackson Cross (Deputy Sheriff) Shiloh Easton, Lena Easton (Aunt)

'𝚆𝚑𝚎𝚗 𝚖𝚊𝚜𝚜𝚒𝚟𝚎 𝚜𝚘𝚕𝚊𝚛 𝚏𝚕𝚊𝚛𝚎𝚜 𝚜𝚝𝚛𝚒𝚔𝚎 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚙𝚕𝚊𝚗𝚎𝚝, 𝚊 𝚖𝚒𝚕𝚕𝚒𝚘𝚗 𝚝𝚘𝚗𝚜 𝚘𝚏 𝚜𝚞𝚙𝚎𝚛𝚑𝚎𝚊𝚝𝚎𝚍 𝚙𝚕𝚊𝚜𝚖𝚊 𝚛𝚒𝚙𝚜 𝚝𝚑𝚛𝚘𝚞𝚐𝚑 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝙴𝚊𝚛𝚝𝚑’𝚜 𝚊𝚝𝚖𝚘𝚜𝚙𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚎. 𝙰𝚜 𝚙𝚘𝚠𝚎𝚛 𝚐𝚛𝚒𝚍𝚜 𝚏𝚊𝚒𝚕 𝚊𝚌𝚛𝚘𝚜𝚜 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝙽𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚗 𝙷𝚎𝚖𝚒𝚜𝚙𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚎, 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚒𝚛𝚎 𝚠𝚘𝚛𝚕𝚍 𝚋𝚊𝚕𝚊𝚗𝚌𝚎𝚜 𝚘𝚗 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚋𝚛𝚒𝚗𝚔 𝚘𝚏 𝚌𝚑𝚊𝚘𝚜.'

This kicked started where the previous book left off.

Threats are escalating towards these characters
Shiloh and Lena have been driven out of their safe haven where the lighthouse gave them peace, to having to move where a group of survivalists reside.

And cold case of Lilys murder has finally been resolved allowing Shiloh and Lena to rest easily knowing that justice was finally served. It took all of Jackson’s manpower to finally get to the truth, setting him on a path he didn’t want to believe.

As one threat is put to rest the Cartel are close on their tails seeking revenge and these guys don't take prisoners, they shoot to kill, woman, men, children even the elderly. This is going to become one clusterf#ck of a bloodbath.

Like the previous series I’d read recently by this author, so far these two (Lena & Eli) have only shared a few kisses never crossing that line into more. I’m curious to see if this carries through to her other books as well.

This series has kept me riveted to the pages, the authors storytelling and her ability to keep me focused and glued to the pages has cemented my love for an author I've only just discovered. Pulling me in effortlessly, throwing curveball after curveball leaving me completely blindsided and making me enjoy this series wholeheartedly. 65451226-2019570151487824-6157464638251335680-n

Every single male on this book decided to show who had the biggest balls and the most amount of testosterone to show for their egos 🤣 this was giving Rambo vibes. Turning into a more military war book than an actual post-apocalyptic end of the world story.

🌅 I think everyone in that town finally understood that the government is going to do nothing to help them. Which is one of the many reasons why such remote small towns suffer the most when we have natural disasters.
🌅 There's nobody that would deny Shiloh anything because that girl has fire running through her veins. She might be young, but she isn't stupid and if she must fight to protect her loves ones, she will go down doing that with no second thoughts.
🌅 There's something about Jackson family that is giving me a really bad vibe. I started hating him because of the things he did but I have to eat my words, he really is a good person, and he will stop at nothing to seek the truth and bring justice to those who need it.
🌅 What makes me sad about Jackson is that I don't think he will ever get over failing Lily or what happened after her murder investigation. I don't think he loved her as much any of the other men did but he cared deeply for her. Maybe he will be able to move on and find something good for him?
🌅 Eli Pope is a goddamn war machine, forget about Rambo or Captain America. At this point, I think there's nothing that could kill him! Between Sawyer, the cartel and the convicts been released from prison was a whole punch of blood, guns, explosions, and guts... a lot of guts.
🌅 Somehow Lena still wants to help people even when there's no medications, tools, or anything to help those in need. But she makes me so mad sometimes and scream to the book! If you want to help people start by taking care of yourself... how are you able to help when you are slowly overusing your body, dammit Lena you are diabetic!

I don't know what it is, but I have a feeling the last book is going to have some plot twist or event that will crush my heart. I don't think I'm ready yet.

Nice addition to the first two installments, but very heavy on the testosterone! Still action packed and written in a way that makes you question what would happen if the unthinkable did. I love all the homeopathic uses of plants that are shared and the camaraderie that continues to develop at the inn. I was absolutely right about the killer! But there is one or two characters left that still have an untold story that I expect will wrap up in the fourth installment. 3.5 (rounded to 4) due to testosterone overload.

This was another absolute winner for me in this series from one of my favourite authors, Kyla Stone. Book 3 of the Lost Light series picks up from where its predecessor left off with some of our main characters still carrying the bruises from their last ordeal. The story continues to follow the fallout from the solar flare that knocked half of the world into complete disarray. As local, state and government services continue to degenerate and follow its citizens into chaos, people are desperate as there seems little hope to cling to. Half of the police force have quit, the hospital is shutting its doors and no one is coming to the Upper Peninsula with enough, if any, emergency supplies. It's another edge of your seat read that kept me turning pages until the early hours as, once again, this series hooked me in and wouldn't let go. Quick note - this isn't a standalone novel. You need to start from the first book in the series as there's an overarching theme and only quick recaps to keep the story moving.

As with the first two books, The Hope We Keep is told from Lena's, Shiloh's, Jackson's and Eli's point of view, giving their version of events of the unfolding disaster threatening their lives. The book hits the ground running from the get go and doesn't stop until the last chapters. Aside from the mess left from the solar flares, there is a very realistic portrayal of human nature at its best and absolute worst as services such as electricity, health, food and water, medical care and general decency decline. As hinted in the last book, danger from Eli's past in prison has collided with his present, threatening the only people he cares about. Add to that, the ongoing peril from Sawyer and the cartel is about to come knocking at their door. The author continues to develop an story with excellent characters, strong world building and a plot that not only holds a lot of drama, action and mystery but is written in a way that's believable and relatable. We get to catch up with a couple of the more memorable characters from the previous book and the whodunnit of Lily, Lena's sister, remains in the forefront of the story line.

All of the characters continue to develop in Book 3. Eli, a favourite of mine, is a solid addition once again, with his love for Lena and Shiloh becoming an ingrained part of his character. Lena and Shiloh are also a tough, solid unit together even though the author has thrown everything but the kitchen sink at them. Jackson finds himself in a new role and while I wish he would grow more of a spine regarding his gutter-worthy family, his point of view was also another great addition to the book. You'd think with four very different perspectives the book would be too busy or messy but each character adds so much to the story line and helps create a really well-developed story arc. I'm also super happy to add that Book 3 has a bit more romance than the others and while it's certainly not at the forefront and remains a secondary part of the plot, it was definitely more present (which surprised me because normally this author likes to torture me until the last minute lol - I'm a romance reader first and foremost).

The Hope We Keep finally gives readers some closure for some of the story line and while most will be able to figure it out where some plot points were going, it was still a fabulous ride. Even better: the author has said there will be a surprise extra book as there was too much to tie off so here's hoping she gets carried away again and it stretches out even further :) This is one of my favourite series even though it's relatively new and only three books in. The first two were in my top ten reads of last year and this one has already secured it's place in this year's list even though we're not even half way through the year. A big call, I know, but it is what it is. The series has everything I love in a story and while it packs a heck of a punch with its bang for buck, the author also manages to show the human side of disaster. I love Kyla Stone and I think this series is her best so far.

3 stars. Where did all the testosterone come from?

I finished this latest instalment in the Lost Light series with a feeling of disappointment. Up until this novel, I have enjoyed the uniqueness of Stone's storytelling, and how she has blended genres so well in this series. She makes solving a mystery during the apocalypse just as suspenseful for her characters as their fight for survival after a global disaster plunges them into darkness.

Her characters are wonderful, and wonderfully brought together through pain and loss, love and redemption. Unfortunately, the character development halted in this third book. Burgeoning acceptance, forgiveness, redemption, and love, after painful pasts were the building blocks of every characters' growth in the past two novels. Striving for those things drove character dynamics as they became found family to each other.

The author swapped that development out for a different kind of bonding - brotherhood. There was a lot of testosterone in this novel. I learned more about weapons and how to use them against the bad guys, than I did about how to survive an apocalypse while the bad guys ran rampant. The apocalypse is tame compared to Stone's villains.

I don't want to give away spoilers. But, I did find that characters who deserved more time on the page weren't given that. Bonds between some characters happened too quickly. I would have liked to have seen more of an arc in those relationships. But those developments, as well as the changing post-apocalyptic landscape, were overshadowed by too much alpha male posturing and combat style violence.

How much bigger can the big guns get? How much more badass does Eli need to be?
A bigger mystery is solved which significantly impacted Shiloh and Lena. Now what happens to their character development? Will they both take a backseat to Eli and Jackson while the men tackle what appears to be an insurmountable foe?

There is a very huge plot hole, in my opinion, which could have wrapped up the bigger mystery a lot sooner than it did. Maybe Jackson was just too tired to follow some obvious leads?

Suspension of belief is a huge part of thoroughly enjoying fiction. But there were things that I just couldn't wrap my head around accepting in this third novel.

I am on the fence as to whether or not I'll read the next book. I hope the firefight to come doesn't overshadow the daily struggle for survival, and isn't completely testosterone fueled. I'd like to see Shiloh and Lena take a bigger role in saving the day in their own way.

This one was a little drawn out and wordy! But I still enjoyed it immensely! Love Lena and Eli. Jackson is growing on me, especially after this installment. I'm enjoying the realism to the slow deterioration of society, but I do think it would be more brutal. Honestly, I hope the next one can stand up to the last few!

Kyla is such a fantastic storyteller. How she weaves in otherwise mundane facts of the Upper Peninsula or military tactics intricately in an interesting way is masterful. Love how this story is unfolding.

Another great cover that fits with the rest of the series really well. The covers of this series definitely do their job in that they would certainly have me picking them up from a bookstore shelf to read the book description.

The Hope We Keep literally picks up with Shiloh being attacked whilst tracking and hunting alone. Luckily Shiloh's instincts and everything Eli has been teaching her kicks in and she fights off her attacker, badly wounding him enough to escape.
This begins the speculation of who would want to hurt Shiloh? Maybe her mother, Lily's killer, after all she was a witness to the murder as she was in the house when the murderer left. Or is it Darius Sykes, escaped convict who would hurt anyone and everyone Eli Pope cares about to get to him? Or could it be some random traveller that thought she was an easy target? Regardless of who it is, it's a sign that the area is becoming more dangerous.

Lena's supply of insulin is rapidly decreasing especially as she has secretly been sharing it with a young boy called Keagan Tilton when she is approached by his parents Curtis and Traci to help him. With the local hospital running low on all its supplies and medications its perhaps inevitable when a decision is made to close it. The staff are leaving to care for their own families be that locally or travelling to family. Some staff are headed to the next nearest hospital to work with the remaining staff and the supplies the larger hospitals still have at the moment.
Eli and Jackson know they need more medical supplies as many are running low, becoming I'll or dying because of lack of medications. They are highly aware that Lena's insulin supply is also getting low though initially they don't know how little she has left.
Lena decides to use her own medical experience to help where she can. She collects books on herbal remedies and such from the local library. Despite opposition from Eli she invites people into the lighthouse for treatment. It's not long until jealousy arises with a local woman wanting to know why Lena and Shiloh have more than her. Yet when Lena offers to show her the skills and help her start to grow her own food and learn to can it and so on the woman declines, wanting continual handouts rather than to learn to look after herself. This makes the woman a strong suspect when the lighthouse is broken into and everything is smashed up from the lighthouse lantern to Lena's insulin vials. Now with even less insulin its vital that Eli and Jackson find some insulin quickly! Perhaps that why they fall into a hurried plan to hijack a train for medical supplies without the thorough research both Eli and Jackson would normally do. They do get help from an unlikely source of two of Sawyers group defecting to their side. The skills of Antoine and Nyx prove invaluable on more than one occasion in the book.
Jackson is made Sheriff amongst all this mayhem when his father Horatio openly attacks the current Sheriff bringing attention to his short comings. Jackson is given little choice but to accept even more responsibility when it his spring on him though does wonder what ulterior motive his father may have. Jackson is also left dealing with his mother and sister when his father just takes off and disappears. Jackson wants answers from Horatio and is about to demand them when Horatio disappears.
Jackson and Eli and their deputies are also having to handle the increasing deaths, finding men strung up on poles and murdered in a significant way. Eli knows its Darius Sykes and he and his band of escapee prisoners are on their way to wreak havoc. Eli is determined to protect Lena and Shiloh at all costs, finally convincing them to live at the Northwoods Inn settlement. Unfortunately for him Darius Sykes uses someone from the Northwoods Inn settlement to lure Lena to him ensuring there will be a battle to the death between himself and Eli.

There's so much going on in this book alongside all the questions we already have! We do finally discover the real killer of Lily and I did honestly have my suspicions. It really fits perfectly. Eli does reveal to Shiloh that he is her father, but just when Shiloh should be feeling like she finally has a family again theres so much going on and danger approaching she doesn't really get to enjoy the news.
Without going into detail and revealing too much the book ends with one set of bad guys dispatched, our favourite characters still co-existing nearby to the other bad guys led by Sawyer and even more, bigger bad guys on the way for retribution!
Some old cases are cleared up for Jackson but they end up causing him a whole lot of hurt, devastation & personal loss in the process, and he still has the mystery of Garrett to solve as well as having a 'grand finale' with his father.

My immediate thoughts were Amazing! The writing style of this book, of so many threads of plot, fantastic characters you really grow to care about (even the 'baddies') all taking place in an ever changing increasingly dangerous world really have you perched on the very edge of your seat and not wanting to put the book down!

Summing up this book really does have an action & angst ridden packed plot, with tempestuous, fierce characters willing to die for each other and what is right. Can't wait to read more!

Yes! FINALLY! I say finally for some many reasons!

Finally, Eli and Lena come together. Seriously it’s about dang time!

Finally have closure to some of the sub-plots: who really killed Lily and the deplorable Sykes!

Our main characters face new challenges: Lena’s insulin supply is destroyed and most of the book is trying to get more to save her life. I’m doing so, the foreshadowed fight between Eli and Sykes comes to pass. A well deserved death for Sykes, but Eli does not come out unscathed, but survives.

Jackson’s discovery of who really killed Lily surprised me. In books 1 & 2 I was certain Horatio did it. The whole better than thou because I’m rich and you’re scum mentality coupled with his above the law way of doing business, I thought for sure it was him! I was wrong! When we discover it’s was Astrid, the sociopath, I was a bit surprised. But it makes sense. I knew I hated her for a reason! The real surprise came what Jackson did about it! Killing his sister went way outside his character.

There was some editing errors, the most glaring ones on pages 187 and 331 in which mid sentence it looks like someone hit the enter button. Thankfully I felt the story was moving pretty quickly in those places that it was more of an eyesore than anything else. Also, um why does Bear have to get shot? Really? I have a hard time with animals being harmed. I get it, makes us hate Angel even more than we already do but gah, my heart! Couldn’t he have missed but we didn’t know he missed until later? Kyla redeems herself when Lena kills Angel and says “that’s for shooting my dog!”

Overall, I love this story. It did take me longer to read this book, but that was entirely my fault and in no way a reflection of the writing.

Hang on tight, here comes the roller coaster ride!

Kyla Stone has done it again. The Hope We Keep, third in the Lost Light Series, picks up right where The Dark We Seek left off.

This is, for me, the most action-packed book Kyla has penned. That doesn't stop the ongoing character development as you can't help but be drawn in closer to those characters you've grown to love over the first two books. Of course there are also a few characters you want to throat-punch.

Set in the UP, Michigan's Upper Peninsula, The Hope We Keep is a story of survival in a post-apocalyptic world. There are vivid (though not overbearing) descriptions of the landscape, the people, and their trial and tribulations.

Kyla is a fantastic storyteller. When I began this book it was with the understanding that it would be the conclusion of the series. About halfway through I thought to myself, "Not even Kyla can wrap this story up in half a book." I was thrilled to find out there is indeed a fourth book coming.

I wouldn't mind a fifth, six, or seventh. I've become invested in the lives of Shiloh, Eli, Lena, Jackson, Bear, and others.

If you're a fan of great stories, humanly flawed characters, and good writing, get yourself a copy of The Hope We Keep (but read The Light We Lost and The Dark We Seek first!)

I received an Advance Review Copy (ARC) of this book, which is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks, Kyla!

Thi is a gripping and well-crafted continuation.
The author delivers a story with excellent pacing, fluid narrative, and action that keeps you turning the pages.

The survival elements remain tense and grounded, for example, when Lena faces the urgent challenge of running out of insulin in a post-apocalyptic world, the danger is immediate and palpable.
The book conveys the desperation of surviving in a world where even small necessities have become monumental obstacles, without becoming heavy-handed.

The central mystery and its resolution are both impressive and satisfying.
The threads from the previous books are tied together with skill, and the lingering influence of past events, even those from years ago, adds depth and weight to the story.
Her ability to maintain suspense and deliver meaningful revelations demonstrates her mastery as a storyteller.

While the post-apocalyptic setting continues to be portrayed in subtle, nuanced ways, it isn’t as fully explored as in some other books in the genre, which is the only reason I hold back a full five stars.
That said, the focus on character development, tension, and mystery makes this an engaging and memorable conclusion to the story.

Overall, this is a strong, thrilling, and satisfying ending.

Can you imagine? A post-Apocalyptic solar flare wipes out power in the northern hemisphere and you take that base plot and blend in a serial killer on the loose. That's what this third book in the Lost Light series is all about; a rollercoaster ride of suspense, unrequited love, and well-defined characters that you will both love and hate as they forge a path to survival.

Karla Stone has done a magnificent job of describing the beauty and culture of the Michigan Upper Peninsula, with writing so vivid you can almost feel yourself among the opulent forests and sun-soaked waves of Lake Superior.

The characters that Kyla brings to life in the series are far from perfect and several of them have demons from their past haunting them. However, as in real life, some rise to the challenge and become heroes and others fall to their basest character. I have to say, 13 year old Shiloh is my favorite character. Small, but ferocious, Shiloh is a she-warrior of formidable means with a crossbow.

I am an ARC reader of this book. My opinions and review are my own honest assessment.

Exciting from beginning to end. Kyla writes characters that are gritty and real. Eli Pope is a strong man, a flawed warrior with regrets, demons and doubts trying to do the right thing and protect his family in a world turned upsidedown when it goes dark due to solar flares. He feels he is not worthy of love because of his past. Lena Easton, his first and only real love is guardian of her late sister's child, Shiloh, a tough as nails, street smart 13 year old who bonds with Eli. Together they try to find their way and rebuild a semblance of community in a turbulent world filled with evil and danger. This book is well researched and believable. The descriptions of events are easy to visualize and exciting. As always, Kyla has you on the edge of your seat one minute and laughing at a descriptive one-liner the next. If you are a fan of post -apocalyptic books this is a must read and I recommend it.

This continues a good series. Some of the recap of the prior story bogged things down a bit but generally the plot moved along well. In this part of the story, the aftermath of the solar event took a back seat to a murder mystery and a revenge conflict with the all-too-common bad guy. Much of the despair and struggle of the main characters and townspeople trying to deal with the loss of their access to supplies was a background issue, save the need for insulin which did become a top priority for some. I did figure out the cartel mole quickly but not Lilly's killer until Jackson discovered the truth. That was all very exciting. It does appear there will be a book 4 which is set up with an ominous cliffhanger.

Another Great Installment…

Post Apocalyptic series have the gift of taking you out of your daily struggles, and to see a world where so much grey exists where previously all was black or white. They captivate you and draw you in as you share the struggles, adventures and horrendous things that must be dealt with when an apocalypse happens. Each character, Eli, Lena, Shiloh or Jackson, even the evil Sykes reminds us of someone we know well. There is no need to share the story-just know it is a must read & you will not be sorry you invested the time! The only downside is now waiting for the epic finale!

Adrenaline spiked.
I did not see a couple of these plot twists coming! What an installation for this series.

It has been an anxious wait for Book 3 and it was fantastic, shock full of action and impossible decisions. It makes you think about what you would do in the same situation.

The end of the world is not just about adapting to the lack of home comforts - having to face long avoided topics and getting back to the people you most care for becomes a top priority. I love the character development in Kyla's books, I wonder if there are more skeletons in the closets for us to find in Book 4.

I really struggled with a potential 5-star. However, there were sections that bogged down for me. For example, the extensive descriptions of the highways and locations in the area. I did skim through some areas - which made me say no to the 5 rating.
That said, this is a gripping, high action, dark, intense book. Real personal struggles with each character as they find themselves changing in their new reality. Surprising plot twists in many areas - not all, like who the "mole" is.
I was a little surprised to find there is a Book 4, but the ending for this book is a minor cliffhanger. It definitely sets up the final book well.

I am completely absorbed by Kyla's books

I think this is the seventh Kyla Stone book I have read. Each one is a masterpiece in itself with the different part of the stories connecting. I wasn't always a post apocalyptic reader but the modern times have gotten me into these kinds of books. I love how her work has all the action plus a story you can follow and just a tiny bit of indirect romance. With the protecting your loved ones concept, the books are relatable. This particular one had some very unexpected twists that made it so I couldn't put it down and stayed up late reading. I plan to continue reading all of Kyla Stone's books.

Absolutely love Kyla Stone's books and this one did not disappoint. I received an ARC of this book and did not want to put it down. This is the second series I've read and though there are similarities to her other series, it is different enough that you want to keep reading. The characters are well-developed, draw you in, and make you root for them. The books have also prompted me to want to be more prepared and plan better for the future. I would definitely recommend this series and I can't wait for the next book!

A really good book, with some gripping bits! Exciting, lots of great action (always a plus for me!) and interesting characters.
Little world building needed doing, as the preceding books in this series did that, so the writing could dwell on the story, the action and the people. And what a mixed bunch they are! Plenty of surprises, some good twists and excellent writing, with some getting better endings than other!
I love reading about this world but definitely would not like to live in it. But as a read, it kept my nose in the book for many an hour.

This installment was well worth the wait

It was the slowest I've read a Kyla Stone book, because I didn't want it to be over.
The nonstop action and in-depth characters draw you in from page one.
Impossible to put down , this third installment might be the best of the series.
This is a must read for all ages ; although a very real and ominous subject manner ; Kyle beautifully and tactfully Bri he us into the story without becoming too gory or using foul language.
This deserves to be New York Times best seller .

I thoroughly enjoyed this instalment of Lost Light, an apocalyptic story about people attempting to survive the devastation caused by 'lights in the sky'.

The characters are well-developed, each fitting perfectly into the plot. There are mysteries to solve despite it being almost impossible without technological resources. There are villains seemingly on every corner and others who are trying to help others...a good mix for a great story.

The writing style is fast-paced with an easy flow.

Highly recommended.

The Hope We Keep --- it's not going to be easy!

'The Hope We Keep... ' (Lost Light Book 3) continues the trials and tribulations of separate and, I might add, desperate groups of survivors in a post nuclear world where a 'good' person in many instances is relative. However, being bad does not adequately describe the evil that drives some people. I urge you to read the first two books in the 'Post-apocalyptic Survival Thrillers' to fully enjoy the great stories author Kyla Stone has written. The audible performance by Stacey Glamboski is an added bonus. -Mr.Bill

This Is Definitely One of My Favorite Series!!

Another FANTASTIC book in this BRILLIANT series!! The next book, book four, is the last, I think. I was so worried about the main characters in this book, I really hope they survive book four!!

As I’ve said in my past two reviews, if you enjoy Apocalyptic Survival Thrillers with a fast pace and a Murder Mystery to solve, along with some of the most complex characters I’ve encountered and found family and friends….then YOU WILL LOVE THIS SERIES!!!

In general, I’m quite a fan of Kyla’s writing. But this time I was forced by other commitments to start with the third book, with no preamble of characters or story line.

With overall fluid story telling and developed plot, The Hope We Keep was a long but easy read. This particular book was more visceral than say the Edge of Collapse series, a bit choppy, more violent and militaristic.

Time allowing, I’ll certainly want to go back and start from book one.

This installment was better than I expected. It's like a well-balanced meal, with both meat and vegetables, everything included, and the flavor is great.

Two things I didn't expect:
1. Jackson's father turning evil so quickly and completely, directly joining the cartel.
2. Jackson's sister actually being Lily's murderer. I have to hand it to the author for daring to come up with that.

Jackson is really unlucky, betrayed by everyone around him."

Hold on to your seat...a thrill ride for sure

The characters are well defined and attach themselves to your heart strings. Moral decisions are made that are not clear cut or well defined and cannot be viewed as right or wrong. I'm in love with Kyla Stones s books, this series and others, as they never disappoint me. Kudos to Kyla and can't wait to read the last book in this series.
