Promise Lodge #6

Family Gatherings at Promise Lodge

Rate this book
Returning to the fan-favorite world of Promise Lodge, the small-town Missouri setting for her beloved Amish inspirational romance novels, Charlotte Hubbard will delight readers with this uplifting tale of a lonely widower and the new arrival who unexpectedly wins his heart. For fans of Shelley Shepard Gray and Beth Wiseman.

With two spring weddings to celebrate, friends and family are reunited at the Amish community of Promise Lodge, where nothing—and no one—can derail an unexpected new love when it’s part of a glorious plan . . .

In the year since he lost his wife in a tragic accident, Lester Lehman has found healing and purpose—helping construct Dale Kraybill’s new bulk store, enjoying the Kuhn sisters’ hearty meals, and settling into a tiny, built-for-one lakeside house. Falling in love again is surely not on Lester’s mind. Yet despite his firm “no,” two available ladies have set their kapps on the handsome widower—in a boisterous rivalry that weaves mayhem among the wedding festivities . . .

A welcome escape comes from a fresh-faced newcomer. Marlene Fisher disarms Lester with her witty quips on his romantic predicament, while her sparkling eyes inspire surprising thoughts of a shared future. But the heartbreak that brought Marlene to Promise Lodge runs deep, and the pretty maidel believes she’s not meant to marry. In a season of vows to love and honor, scripture holds the key to building their happiness love is kind, and above all . . . patient .

Drawing upon her experiences in Jamesport, the largest Old Order Amish community west of the Mississippi, longtime Missourian Charlotte Hubbard (a.k.a. Naomi King) writes of simpler times and a faith-based lifestyle in her new Seasons of the Heart series. Like her heroine, Miriam Lantz, Charlotte considers it her personal mission to feed people—to share hearth and home. Faith and family, farming and food preservation are hallmarks of her lifestyle, and the foundation of her earlier Angels of Mercy series. She’s a deacon, a dedicated church musician and choir member, and when she’s not writing, she loves to try new recipes, crochet, and sew. Charlotte now lives in Minnesota with her husband and their border collie.

Description, i.e., the blurb …
In the small-town Missouri setting of Promise Lodge, widower Lester Lehman is finally doing so much better. His life has found purpose. He lives in a *real* lakeside tiny house. But there are these two Amish ladies who decide they need a man — they want Lester! That alone makes for some comedy. Both of those women are so — to me it was more important for each to beat the other one — Lester was just icing on the cake.

New to the Promise Lodge community, Marlene Fisher is protective (for good reasons) of her grown brother Mose. She has dealt with several men and none of it ended well. But Lester … he’s different and she finds in Lester, a friend. Both of them need the friendship that grown. But will it grow into more?

My review …
While “Family Gatherings at Promise Lodge” is number 6 of the Promise Lodge series, it can be read standalone. I have read and enjoyed several of the books in the series. But this one did not grab me. It was easy for me to lay my Kindle down and do something else. One of my personal pet peeves is reviewers who glow about a book. Use words like captivating, lovely, couldn’t-put-it-down, etc. — then give it four stars or even three with no reason why. Well, I’m in a tough spot because I’m having a difficult time stating now — I started reading on Feb 21st & finished it on Nov 20th — why I didn’t find this a “good read” — for me, at least.

I enjoyed so much the two biddies who were determined to marry Lester. You’ll chuckle if not laugh out loud at some of the things they try. And maybe that’s it … nothing after that part of the book matched the fun of those silly women. And personally, I was being challenged by some health issues that went on for months. I missed several of NetGalley’s “publish” deadlines.

I do think I would have had the same reaction; i.e., letdown after the ridiculous widower chasing. I know other readers and reviewers did not have and will not have the same reaction. How Marlene cares for Mose — and Mose loves his sister in return — is a nice approach to a trauma incident. There are, of course, recurring characters but my favorite is the Bishop. Promise Lodge is an Old Order Amish community. He is the kind of bishop I would like to have if I were Amish. He IS Amish — BUT he uses COMMON SENSE. A good example is the use of the “tiny house” (an Englisher tiny house) by an Amish resident. Promise Lodge is a new community. Homes are being built but it takes time to build them. So the bishop understands why it is being used right now. There are no snide remarks such as reminding the resident this is only temporary.

Even though I have missed the NetGalley feedback deadline for “Family Gatherings at Promise Lodge”, I am completing my “NetGalley” review anyway. So if you are an Amish fiction fan, try the Promise Lodge series.

I received a complimentary DRC (digital review copy) of “Family Gatherings at Promise Lodge” via NetGalley” from the publisher, Kensington Books, Zebra. A positive review was not required; the opinions expressed are entirely my own.

This is my favorite Promise Lodge novel yet! It makes me want to go back and read the series from the start.

I've always enjoyed how Hubbard writes Amish fiction from a feminist perspective, and the Promise Lodge series is the finest example of her work. The Bender sisters left their former community because of an oppressive bishop, and the continued success of their Amish community at Promise Lodge is a testament to the love, faith, and friendship that flows through every aspect of their lives. That's why it is such a riot to see Agnes Plank and Elverta Horst create such havoc as they pursue Lester. While the residents of Promise Lodge have faced adversity, they don't often come across such antics. And the way the Promise Lodge community considers everyone's feelings as they deal with the issue is a true display of their beliefs.

With Family Gatherings at Promise Lodge, Hubbard provides fans, new and returning, with a fabulous story grounded in faith that brings two people together who thought love was in their past. And proving she is not afraid to tackle tough issues, Marlene's story is both heartbreaking and thrilling.

Hubbard remains one of the most masterful storytellers in the Amish fiction/romance genre. I look forward to spending more time with the Promise Lodge community when the next installment, Hidden Away at Promise Lodge, arrives this summer.

This was such a sweet Amish romance, with great characters, and a beautiful setting. I absolutely would not want to be in Lester's shoes! Marlene was such a fun character, and it was clear she and Lester were meant for each other, even if they didn't realize it at first. The rest of the characters were interesting, and I would love to visit Promise Lodge and see it in person, it sounds so beautiful. The story itself moves along smoothly, with moments that will make you smile, and ones that will make you giggle. As expected, faith is woven into this story, but it doesn't feel overly heavy despite this being a religious romance. If you're looking for a sweet, clean romance with a charming cast, unforgettable setting, and a bit of faith, you're going to love this one!

This is such a delightful book. It is a quick read that I did not put down until I had read it all.

This book, taking place in Promise Lodge, Missouri, is part of a series by the author, but the first I have read. I will definitely try to find the others. I loved the loving characters in this book and the Christian principles throughout the book.

This book centers around widower, Lester Lehman, who lost his wife and son in a buggy accident and new resident Marlene Fisher. Former neighbors of both of these characters create a lot of havoc with each of them. Lots of drama, forgiveness, love, and laughter are in this book. I highly recommend it for those who love Amish books.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and Kensington Zebra books. The opinions expressed are my own.

Entertaining and Inspiring

Family Gatherings at Promise Lodge was quite an enjoyable read. It follows Lester Lehman and Marlene Fisher as they begin a friendship under some amusing circumstances, according to Marlene, but not so amusing, according to Lester. Regardless of its beginnings, as they spend time together, their friendship takes on a different course which is not the smoothest due to some very insistent characters and issues from their pasts. As I turned page after page to see where it would all lead, I was kept captivated by the humor, a bit of intrigue, and the candid conversations between Marlene and Lester which gave much insight into their struggles and backgrounds. My palate was captivated as well by the many delicious desserts that were throughout the story, and I was very much pleased to see that some of the recipes were added at the end. However, I was especially captivated by the messages of forgiveness, faith and hope that were key elements throughout the story.

On the flip side, there was one topic that although the author dealt with it flawlessly, some might find a little disconcerting. However, it was key to the story and added much to the elements of forgiveness, faith and hope. Having said that, I found Family Gatherings at Promise Lodge to be an entertaining and inspiring story that should not be missed.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a complimentary copy of this book. All comments and opinions are voluntary and strictly my own.

Promise Lodge, an Amish Community, with the addition of new residents, has become a loving, helpful community of peace of quiet. That is until Lester, a widower is visited by two women from his past and an agenda he isn't ready for.

The story has a lot of twists to it and many humorous instances. But then it has it's sorrowful and upsetting circumastances as well. This is one of the best Amish stories I've read. The author's descriptions of the setting transported me to where the characters appeared real and I felt the warmth of community coming together.

The characters are well-developed with many layers. A sweet romance evolved as two people learned about trust, forgiveness and the ability to love again. Highly recommended.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and voluntarily choose to review it. All opinions are my own.

Another delightful story about Promise Lodge. I love the interactions between Amish and Mennonite. A lot of funny parts with the two old friends vying for Lester’s attention. It all works out for the best in the end. I loved this book.

Family Gatherings at Promise Lodge was a great relaxing book to read. I loved the modern language that was used and the descriptions of where everyone lives made me feel like I was right there with them.

Some of the characters were out of this world and I was a bit surprised by their audacity. Yet, I totally believe there are people out there like this and Charlotte Hubbard described them perfectly.

Reading about the older twins, Mose and Marlene's past helps you understand why they came to Promise Lodge. Life can be complicated and we start to figure this was how it was meant to be. It's not over yet.

This book will capture your attention with the romance, suspense, and wholesomeness. What a great, great read!

I love being back with these now familiar characters, the author's description of the lodge and and the surrounding acres makes me want to live there. Such kind and loving folks, and most go out of their way to help others.

We are given Lester Lehman, a man I had my doubts about in the last book, but this time, my heart goes out to him. We are also given not one, or two, but three possible matches for him.

There is some drama here, and possible danger, but also some humor, and justice, and you will be page turning for answers, and yes, they do come. When the last page is turned I really wanted to continue in the lives of these people in Coldstream, Missouri!

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Kensington, and was not required to give a positive review.

I loved the humor that I found in this book as poor Lester is chased by two lonely ladies who are competing against one another to win his heart. Elverta and Agnes were so very determined and would never consider giving up on poor Lester.
This has been such a fun series and each book brings back some familiar faces into a very engaging story. I hope the lodge will continue to bring fun new characters in to read about and enjoy. I love the independence of the members of this community and how they have struggled with the very strict Coldstream bishop and found their own way.

Marlene and her brother have joined the Promise Lodge group after leaving Coldstream.
And just maybe she will find her way in this new community and in to the hearts of the Amish of Promise Lodge. I know you will enjoy this book! It was great.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. All thoughts are my own.

Oh my! What a delightful and fun read!
Hubbard has brought Promise Lodge and it's residents back to us again! Yay!!
I honestly didn't think there'd be another one. I am so happy to return to Promise Lodge! I feel like it's my home.
Hubbard made me laugh outright on this one! I enjoyed this novel so much. I giggled most of the way through it because of Elverta and Agnus. Those two were something else and in my opinion they were what made the story a hit with me.
Yes, they got on my nerves but they tickled me pink at times!
I loved that Marlene brought a little charm to the story too. She's my true favorite character because of her spunk and gentle nature.
Yes, there are some subjects that might be a little tough to read about but Hubbard does a great job with it.
I just finished this book because I couldn't put it down!
And the cover is lovely.
5 stars for a job well done! I highly recommend!
My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Family Gatherings at Promise Lodge by Charlotte Hubbard is another grate addition to Hubbard’s beloved, Promise Lodge series.

This time we get to share in Lester Lehman‘a and Marlene Fisher‘s story. You will laugh, cry, and spend every minute on the edge of your chair anticipating what will happen when you turn the page.

This whole unexpected journey is a learning experience for both Lester and Marlene. It seems very clearly this is an example of the Scripture from, 1 Corinthians 13:4–8a (ESV) Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.

Join Lester and Marlene on their adventure.

Release day for this 5-star book is February 21, 2023.

This is first time reading a book by this author and I must say it won't be my last. What a great book, it was funny, heartwarming and surprising at times. It was like you were living vicariously through the charactors and you wanted to be there. Lester Lehman, a widower lost his wife and is now living at Promise Lodge in a tiny house that I can only imagine down the hill and no bigger than a shed. Marlene Fisher and her brother move to Promis after there parents passed and they are downsizing. She thinks her time has run out in finding a husband and quite content and accepting of her demise. When two weddings are scheduled to take place, family flocks to the lodge and with some thinking they will scoop up on the chance for a new husband. What a hilarious book you won't be able to put down. I received an advance copy through the publisher and my review is based solely on my opinion.

Another in the beloved Promise Lodge series! Throughout this series we have met the members of this Amish community. This time it is Lester who finds someone for himself -- a friend of Mattie and her sisters from their former town. The story of two older ladies vying for Lester's hand while he has only interest in Marlene, is funny and endearing. The couple themselves are kind, humble and single-minded in their pursuit of a future together. I can scarcely wait to see who else matches up in the next installment. I feel like I know everyong there after reading all the books so far.

I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All views expressed are only my own honest opinion.

Charlotte Hubbard has once again outdone herself with this book. I don’t ever recall reading an Amish book that had Amish women bickering with each other over a man throughout the story. It made the book, engaging, funny and brought a new twist into the storyline. I look forward to seeing what’s going to happen at Promise Lodge next.

Family Gatherings at Promise Lodge by Charlotte Hubbard is a charming Amish tale. I was happy to return to Promise Lodge. It is a friendly, welcoming community that is comprised of Amish and Mennonite. Many of the Amish who reside at Promise Lodge escaped the bullying bishop from the Coldstream district. The newest residents are no exception. Marlene Fisher and her twin brother, Mose have lost both of their parents. They are eager for a fresh start at Promise Lodge. The siblings hope to avoid Bishop Obadiah while they clear out the family home. Marlene does not plan on marrying, but God may have a different plan for her life. Family Gatherings at Promise Lodge is the latest Promise Lodge novel. While it can be read on its own, I recommend reading the series in order. It will allow a reader to get to know the characters and the community. I have enjoyed seeing the community grow and prosper. I was hoping the author would write Lester Lehman’s story after reading New Beginnings at Promise Lodge. I thought the story was well-written with steady pacing. I like the realistic and relatable characters. Marlene Fisher is a great addition. She is a kind, thoughtful woman who is always willing to lend a helping hand. She is also spunky. Marlene’s twin brother, Mose is a gentle giant. An incident from his childhood has caused Mose to avoid crowds and people whom he does not know. I laughed often while reading this story thanks to Agnes and Elverta. Both women have come to Promise Lodge determined to win Lester Lehman. Their bickering did get on my nerves a little, but it was overshadowed by their entertaining antics. Faith was nicely woven into the story. I like how Easter and its meaning was incorporated into the story. It is a good time to take stock of your life and forgive those who have caused you harm. Faith, hope, and forgiveness are the key messages in the story. The author does touch on a difficult subject that some people will find uncomfortable. I thought the topic was handled beautifully. I like how the romance progressed between Lester and Marlene. I like that Marlene and Lester were able to have candid conversations. The delectable desserts mentioned will make your mouth water. There are recipes for some of the tasty treats at the end. I hope there will be many more stories in the Promise Lodge series. Family Gatherings at Promise Lodge is an inspiring and witty tale with a kindhearted newcomer, wrangling women, a shy sibling, convivial nuptials, a bullying bishop, and a caring community.

I always enjoy reading another of Charlotte Hubbard’s stories and visiting Promise Lodge where the Amish and Mennonites live and work together in a loving community that has become one large family. As we have seen in previous stories, the leading male and female characters have struggled with difficult situations and are still working through them. Lester has been in several of the previous stories, having come to the community when his brother and his family moved there. Right before moving, Lester’s wife and son were killed in a buggy accident, so he has struggled with how to go on since that happened. Marlene and her twin brother, Mose, knew the ladies who started the community when they lived in Coldstream. After their parents’ deaths, Marlene and Mose make the decision to move away from Coldstream as well, choosing to come to Promise Lodge. The bishop from Coldstream visits Promise Lodge twice in the story. To be blunt, I cannot fathom why anyone has remained in his district. He has been one of my least favorite characters through this series. But then along come Agnes and Elverta to shake things up. Have you ever met someone whom you could hardly wait to get away from? These two women would certainly fit that bill. They, as well as the Coldstream bishop, are the kind of people that you want so badly to see leave that you really don’t care if the door hits them on the backside as they exit. But cheer up. They are not the main characters in the book and can hopefully be forgotten. The residents of Promise Lodge are wonderful people who can get along with almost anyone, but they stand together when any outsider attempts to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere. Come along and enjoy some more wonderful times at Promise Lodge.

When the right two people marry for love, there's nothing more liberating and nothing that can stand life's trials better than two souls becoming one.

Marlene Fisher along with her twin brother Mose have moved to Promise Lodge. With the death of their parents, they desire a new start at Promise Lodge. They have found good friends and new opportunities, and Lester Lehman. Lester Lehman has dealt with loss himself. The death of his wife and son has sent him on a journey for simplified living. Living in a "little house". He has become more reflective in this change but his life takes a turn when two women come to Promise Lodge to make Lester their husband. These two women are loud, obnoxious and not very Amish while they fight over Lester. Lester has his eye on Marlene or at the very least is intrigued by her. The two women make it interesting and entertaining.

What I liked about this Amish Romance was the loyalty of Lester. He was pursuing carefully Marlene thoughtfully and grew to learn more about her. Her insecurities, her fears, and her dreams. I had a difficult time connecting to Marlene. I will just leave it at that.

A special thank you to Kensington and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

(Please note: I received a free copy in exchange for my honest review.)

This is the first book I have read by Charlotte Hubbard and I will definitely be reading more. I was intrigued by the glimpses of the Amish community and the twists and turns of the novel.

I was drawn quickly into the story and found it hard to put down. I enjoyed the interactions of the characters and the closeness of the Promise Lodge community.

What a dilemma for Lester. At times it was comical in the way the two woman, so opposite in appearance, tried to outdo each other to gain Lester’s love. But, it was sad a s well, that they couldn’t see how inappropriate and ridiculous their behaviour was.

Faith and forgiveness, love and friendship were all threaded throughout the story. We learn much about the Amish community as well and with that, many instances where wise words are shared, especially by the religious leaders. Yet, it was not a heavy-handed portrayal of this faith.

As Lester and Marlene’s friendship develops, we see the strength of both characters and the struggles they have had to overcome.

I highly recommend this novel. This was the sixth in the series and I am eager to read the rest of them. (5/5 *)

When you visit Charlotte Hubbard's fictional Missouri Amish community of Promise Lodge, there are certain things you can expect -- fun, family, friends, strong women, romance and . . . trouble. Family Gatherings at Promise Lodge doesn't disappoint in any of those areas.

If you've read the other books in the series (and you really should read them), you will revisit this unique community where Amish, Mennonite and English friends have built a settlement not quite like any other. You will revisit "old" friends from previous stories and meet a few newcomers as well. The special wedding occasion and relocation of a new business in the community open up lots of opportunities for a great story.

I highly recommend Family Gatherings at Promise Lodge to fans of Amish fiction that takes you a little outside the typical box. This is the sixth book in the series. It could easily be read as a stand alone, but is much more enjoyable if you know the backstories of the community and its residents.

Thanks to Charlotte Hubbard for providing a copy of the book. I am glad to be a part of this book tour and am happy to share my own thoughts in this review.

Oh what fun to return to our beloved Promise Lodge Community. Made up of both Amish and Mennonite, it shows how even with differences we can learn to live, help, and love one another. This 6th book is no slacker in showing the love and mayhem that can befall Promise Lodge. Lester Lehman lost his wife and son in a tragic accident. One year later he is settling in to his tiny house and enjoying life again as he helps build the new mercantile. Vowing to never marry again was his first mistake. When the celebration of two weddings at Promise Lodge bring two very persistent women, will Lester be able to avoid their charms? Add in new comer, Marlene Fisher, who intrigues Lester with her quirky quips, and we have a case for havoc. Believing she is to never marry, Marlene finds Lester's predicament as amusing. Will her belief of never marrying be her downfall as well? Or does God have other plans for Marlene and Lester? I absolutely love this Promise Lodge and the loving but quirky characters that live there. I look forward to the next book. I received a copy through Netgalley. I review was not required.

Family Gatherings is the latest book in the Amish Promise Lodge series by Charlotte Hubbard, and it's another home run for her! In it, you'll be re-acquainted with old friends and introduced to new ones. The two main characters in the book, Lester Lehman and Marlene Fisher, have both experienced losses in their lives. Lester lost his wife and son in a traffic accident, and Marlene's ailing parents have both died. She's also been engaged and broken up, three times. Will Marlene learn to trust again and become more than friends with the steadfast and understanding Lester? This is a must-read for all Charlotte Hubbard fans! I would suggest reading her other Promise Lodge books first to get the full story. This book releases Feb 21, and I'm happy to say that there will be another book coming out in this series at a later time.

A big thank you to #NetGalley and #KensingtonBooks for an advanced e-Pub of this book.

Family Gatherings at Promise Lodge is the next story written by Charlotte Hubbard in her Promise Lodge series. Everytime I pick up a new book by this author I am excited to see the journey she will take her readers on. This story is definitely journey for so many characters and filled with twist and turns. With the return of so many amazing characters Charlotte has added a few new ones that bring their story with them. I enjoyed the healing found within this story that is also filled with friendship, family, and faith. This is definitely the perfect story for the Easter season. Congratulations Charlotte on another well written story for your readers enjoyment.

I enjoyed returning to Promise Lodge and the wonderful characters from the previous books in this series. This is book six, but can easily be read as a standalone as Hubbard gives the history how the Bender sisters and others came to Promise Lodge after facing some unpleasant issues in their former communities.

Two weddings back to back at Promise Lodge, two older women antics to convince Lester to marry them, the injustices that Marlene and Mose faced along with the strong sense of love, care and protecting the residents of Promise Lodge made this an endearing story. There were plenty of chuckles, tense and tender moments, faith, forgiveness and new beginnings for characters.

I won a complimentary copy of this book from the author's Facebook chat. I was under no obligation to write a review but have expressed my own opinion.

TW: attempted sexual assault, food

I don't normally read Amish fiction, but this was a sweet read. And oh, the food! I don't know if the Amish eat this much or this well, but it seems like every other page someone is baking, eating, or digesting. And picnics. Lots of picnics. I really want to try some fresh cole slaw on ham.

I was surprised at the attempted sexual assault that necessitated Mose's violence. It jarred with the rest of the book. They needn't have torn her dress or threatened her with rape to force an argument for the plot line.

Marlene, understandably, has nightmares, but then minimizes the whole kerfuffle after meeting Sylvia. That seems unrighteous; attempted sexual assault--& then lying about it to blame the victim--should not be minimized. I don't expect her to wallow, but disregarding it completely sits uncomfortably.

The Promise Lodge setting has been the background for many wonderful books, and this new one is no exception. Familiar characters from the series accept new ones here, along with their problems. This novel features Marlene Fisher, a young woman who moves into the lodge, and her twin brother, Mose, who works with horses, in addition to widower Lester Lehman, who lives in a tiny house. The compelling story includes humor plus more edginess in places than one might expect in an Amish tale. The struggles in relationships offer many life lessons along the way. The author did a good job creating a believable community and engaging the readers in the residents’ lives. I received a copy from the author. All opinions are my own.

First I must say thank you to Charlotte Hubbard sharing your gift. I just love this series and I wish this magical place called Promise Lodge was a real place, I am sure it could become my go to place. Family Gathering would work as a stand alone read but it would be a same to miss all of the other stories leading to this story about Marlene and Lester and the wonder residence of Promise Lodge. Charlotte Hubbard has a way to make the reader transport to another place and really escape when they are reading her books and this book does not disappoint as you travel to Promise Lodge and meet and love each character. Elverta and Agnes are my favorite addition to this lovely group of friends. Please be good to yourself and visit Family Gatherings at Promise Lodge.

I enjoy a good Amish read and this book did not disappoint. It’s more than a romance. This book is about community, family, and love.

Lester Lehman lost his wife and son in a tragic accident. After a year, he’s determined to move on. What he doesn’t expect, is a new lady to arrive that will steal his heart. The problem is that she’s much younger and has vowed never to marry.

Marlene Fisher, and her brother, have left their home after caring for their ailing parents for years. They are also determined to start fresh, but Marlene has a few secrets why she refuses to marry.

Charlotte Hubbard did it again! She has created another delightful tale in continuation of the beloved Promise Lodge series. Marlene and her brother, Mose, have just moved to Promise Lodge from the restrictive Coldstream district. Marlene and Lester meet and a budding romance starts. Lester patiently woos Marlene as she deals with the baggage from her past. Will Marlene be able to overcome the trials of her past and fully embrace true love as she moves forward?

Excellent

Another excellent Promise Lodge book. I have enjoyed each of these books telling about life at this special community. This one had humor and some sadness, but good life lessons about forgiveness and starting over. I’m so glad to see there will be another one in July this year. Charlotte Hubbard’s books have never disappointed me. I have read every one, including the ones she wrote as Naomi King.
