Dr. Alaya Monroe came to the dwarf planet TR-47 to study and protect its unique ecosystem. She expected to encounter strange and unfamiliar creatures, but when a 10-meter-tall giant suddenly emerges from the forest floor to whisk her away to be his new pet, she gets far more than she bargained for!
Alaya knows she has to escape and return to the human colony as soon as possible. Not just for her sake, but also for his. Fearing that the intolerant locals will come after him with torches and pitchforks when they discover her missing, she makes the giant promise to return her in the morning. There's just one he doesn't want her to leave...
I loved every moment of this little gem of a story! Sweet and tender and low angst, kinda funny here and there, not too bogged down with world building.
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Plot/Storyline: 📖📖📖 Feels: 🦋🦋🦋 Emotional Depth: 💔💔💔 Sexual Tension: ⚡⚡⚡ Romance: 💞💞💞 Sensuality: 💋💋💋 Sex Scene Length: 🍑🍑🍑🍑 (9% of the book is 1 sex scene) Steam Scale (Number of Sex Scenes): 🔥🔥 Humor: A bit Perspective: Third person from both hero and heroine, split by chapters
Basic plot: Alaya has traveled to Viridios Colony, Dwarf Planet TR-47 to fulfill her biologist driven dreams of studying life. Earth was such a mess by the time she was born, so she became a xenobiologist to study alien flora and fauna.
Give this a try if you want: - Sci-fi/monster romance that takes place on an alien world - sometime in the future after Earth is ruined - novella length - Biologist heroine that’s nearing 40 - Possessive, protective 30 foot tree monster hero - Language barrier in the beginning of their relationship
Ages: - Heroine is 38, hero is so old he’s outlived entire evolutionary species life cycles
My thoughts:
I came across this one while searching for unique cocks for a facebook party and I found it here!
This novella was fun. I loved traveling to a different world and how protective our hero is for the heroine. This book is under 100 pages so it’s hard to get some real character depth established, but I still enjoyed our unique characters. I recommend if you’re in the mood for something – different!
Virdios is an alien creature who looks quite similar to Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy. This is his romance with a human scientist he finds one day in his woods. He takes her as his own and thinks of her as a part of sorts, but little does he know that Alaya is a person!
This was so cute!!! I loved the size difference in here and how sweet Viridios was!
TROPES: alien romance, cinnamon roll hero, kidnapping, KU, language barrier, never been kissed (hero), scientists, novella, size difference
Ever watch LORT, see the Ents and think, “Yeah, I’d do um.”?
Then this book is for you, my friend.
Not really my thing, but that’s okay.
It’s well written, unique and interesting…
However
I feel like there is a HUGE middle chunk missing. The couple goes from “Hi, can you not kidnap me tree monster giant?” To “let’s get it on!” in a nano second with ZERO relationship development.
Like, none.
I blinked and they were taking about being mates for life.
What?
I felt zero chemistry between them. The relationship, if we can call it that, was rushed af.
This needs 50-100 more pages of them getting to know one another and spending time together to justify the ending we got.
'Si solo estamos juntos por un momento, que sea el momento más dulce que he conocido.'

Viridios de L. A. Holloway serie Mates of the Forest Gods libro 1
Argumento:
Listen.. this was a different type of alien/creature?? I’ve read but y’all. It was great😩
didn’t have any problems with Alaya or Viridios. No dumb miscommunication (besides the part they didn’t understand each other for a bit thing but you get what I mean), none of the silly back and forth. It was also funny 😆 I loved their banter
Steam-1.5/3 very much creature sex lol but it’s pretty good! There’s like 2.5 scenes but they aren’t really long.
I mean you can see it was a short story added to. Because of how quickly everything happens. Overall I think the ending was more meh and docked it for that. I liked the size difference but that was ruined so another star for that docked off
I saw this mentioned as erotica ,I’m guessing because you have a sex scene between a human woman and a creature that’s not just alien in nature but literally Nature itself in a sense. But I hate that classification. That misleading thought led down a curious path thinking I was running towards some inter-Galactic /sci-fi smut. Something that was going to be little more that some woman getting “freaky” with some rather sentient plants or something along those lines. Something that would be little to no plot and more sex than anything else. We’ve all come across those at some point ,but this ? This so wasn’t that ! This I think could used a but more world building but still this was more of a true romance than I was a expecting . I wanna say sadly but I mean it’s sad I was given the erroneous impression that it would be anything but a a well done romance . A romance where most of the book is built around two Individuals getting to truly know each other. No of course some leaps in faith and judgement are taken but then again isn’t that why we’d read a book like this in the first place ? 😂 Ok, ok ,I’m laughing because I’m not gonna lie ,I was in the mood where erotic sci-fi smut was appealing 😂 But I was happily thrilled to find a well thought out story where this other worldly being made of plants, shoots, vines, branches and flowers 🌸 etc.sweetly and thoughtfully find his mate w/a human woman. A woman who not only love and adored and was deeply intrigued by plants but was well versed in them,so while she was fearful and skittish at first , we weren’t through what felt like hours of histrionics and hysterics . Hey, your not gonna just jump on board with a situation like this but I think we’ve all be dragged thru books/stories where the fearful hysterics and miscommunications lasts way,way too long. Like over half the book. Hate those. The H was sweet and kind and thoughtful and though seemingly ancient was happily willing to learn new things taught by his new “mate”. I adored both characters . They were a joy to spend time with. While the part of me that was eagerly looking for smut was a tad disappointed to find nothing sexual til a bit past the 70% mark, the true reader in my was thrilled to know the sex was apart of a well laid out story. To see it was a part of it not the center of it . So grateful I looked Veronica Scott’s list and found you . Thank you 🙏🏻 I hope I find you again and you keep writing 💞💕
This book is the first in a series. It is not a complete series at this time. It is set in the future after Earth has become overcrowded. Colonies of people are moving to new planets along with scientists to study the life forms. In this story, the main female character, Alaya, loves studying the ecosystem of the planet she is currently inhabiting. Alaya is not quite like the other humans who live there. They are very closed off and more extremist in their thoughts and approved customs. One day, Alaya is studying spores, when suddenly the ground rose up around her and a giant tree being sprouted. He captures her and tries to keep her as his pet. He does not understand why, but he has a strong desire to keep her and protect her. The story continues following through their growing bond and learning to communicate. I wont give any spoilers away :)
The story itself is quite unique. As someone who enjoys alien romance, this one was new to me. The trope is one you see a lot, insta love/fated mates, but I like how it was delivered. There was one sexy scene when he was still in tree form, which definitely was interesting! Steam wise, there is not a lot of spicy scenes, but the romance was still nice.
I gave the story 4 stars overall because of its uniqueness. It was also well written. It is not a terribly long read and can be read in one sitting. I hope more books come out in the series, because the ending set it up for more. If you are a fan of alien romance and want one that does not have much conflict, this is a good read to pick up. Sometimes having a nice palate cleanser between heavy reads is good, and this definitely helped!
Judging this as a novella, I have to give it 5 stars. I was captivated by the story and eagerly read the whole thing. I enjoyed the events, both the obvious path as well as the little plot twist. I loved that Alaya is a 6'2" woman of color, scientist, and in her 30s! Viridios was decently sweet but the length of the novella didn't give much room to delve into his personality since it had to concentrate on learning about Viridios as a sentient being in general.
To anyone who truly likes the giantness of their giant sentient trees, rest assured that Viridios would actually be even larger than he's depicted on the cover. In the novella, he is described as being 10 meters (32ft) tall, having "fingers the size of her legs" and "a mouth as wide as her shoulders." Hell yeah!
That said, I do still wish it was longer so I could have more to savor. I would have loved to see the relationship between Alaya and Viridios take a bit more time to develop and learned more about TR-47, Viridios' species, and actively seeing Viridios' many abilities. As a xenobiologist, Alaya was a perfect companion to explore all of those! I would also have loved to learn more about the universe at large and other alien species. It really opens itself to a world of possibilities.
The world building in this book is really good considering it’s pretty short and a large percentage of it is Groot based erotica.
Yes Groot for the guardians of the galaxy. I have to say even though it was weird as hell, especially the part where his dick was the size of her entire body, you have to respect the dedication to making the aliens seem alien. No “looks exactly like a human but blue” trope here.
I also really liked that the fmc had a relevant profession to the plot (xenobiologist) and that her previous life and skills were an important part of the story.
My favourite part was probably the scenes from the mmc’s perspective before they can communicate when he’s observing and learning about humans as an outsider. Always enjoy that and it’s well done here.
A more complex emotional response to her would have been interesting, but probably angsty and the tone of the book was quite sweet so I do understand why the author wrapped the book up quickly instead.
Viridios by L.A. Holloway was a cute sci-fi romance between a woman and a tree-like giant. It was a quick read and both characters were likable. I generally like the idea of one character taking on the other as a pet before realizing how intelligent their companion is.
I liked how the method of communication was described, and the ending reveal of what the male character's species was. It was also nice to have a cinnamon roll hero who wants good things for his partner. Only small things rubbed me the wrong way (I'm not a big fan of the nickname "big guy"...it makes me think of either Marvel or what you'd call your son)
I'd recommend this to those who like monster/alien romances with a non-toxic hero, and would give it a 3.5/5

Such a warm and refreshing story. Alaya was a smart and sassy scientist. She also had a mind of her own, doing as she desired and loving her work on the planet. When Vridios shows himself, she doesn't freak out. Rather humourously, she gets stroppy until they can communicate. Viridios is a wonderful alien, being. An ancient, as you will learn. They build their relationship with great communication, emotion and eventually touch. The developing story was great, following their coming together. I enjoyed the friendship formed with Kwalori and his arrival again leads you to wish for more. I shall eagerly await more on this new series.

“If it brings you joy, my precious star creature, I will carry you to every mountain and shore, so that you may see my forest with your own eyes as I do.”
Dr Alaya Monroe is a scientist that is trying to study and preserve a unique ecosystem when she gets abducted by a sentient creature that she wasn’t expecting.
Because this is included in the blurb of the story, I’m not marking this as a spoiler. Viridios is a bit innocent, and he abducts Alaya thinking she’s a pet, and he’s horrified by his actions when he realizes she is not a pet. I feel like that needs to be addressed because he’s adorable. The smut didn’t hit quite right for me, but the story did, which is why this has the stars it does. And the implications for the future stories in this universe are very interesting, and I hope the author returns to it so we can read them.
My only upset is how short this was, I zoomed through it so quickly, I wish i got to see more of Alaya and Viridios!
Viridios was the true definition of a gentle giant. He was so sweet, romantic, and poetic. The way he longed for a companion and found one in Alaya, who was intelligent and curious, and was someone who had similar interests to him. Their relationship was so sweet and I enjoyed reading it.
This story was so much cuter than I expected it to be and I really loved it. My only complaint would be the pacing of the relationship. I tend to have this issue with shorter monster romance books because it just seems unrealistic to get right to business so quickly especially with something of a different species. but even with the pacing being a little quick for my preference I loved this and wish it had been longer.
Read this on Big Feels Well, this one is weird to me. The fmc was so small in his point of view, and vice versa. I recall it was me being so confused and enjoying myself at the same time, but I couldn't grasp the idea of the plot. I was just reading through. Loved the cover, though.
Tbh, this was one of the best monster romances I've ready in a long time and I am about to binge and follow everything L.A. Holloway writes, because I think it's going to be just as spectacular and fitting to my taste. (Also, known already but asexuals who write alien romances >>>>>)
Woah... Story starts out nice enough, but the middle part is missing! Sure, it is a short book, but the transmission from 'pet' and 'captor' to 'soulmate' and 'can't live without you' was way too quick.
Nevertheless, nice premise. Let's see what will come next :)
