EXTRA & CUT SCENES!
For those who enjoyed the novels (book 1 Becoming and book 2 Rise), and would like more from the boys, I have several cut scenes on my website, as well as 3 others that occur between the books.
These 3 include "Moth & Flame," a bit of romantic floof, "Two Scorpions," Olympias takes on Hephaistion in a one-on-one confrontation, and finally, the novelette "For the Love of Geometry," which shows the boys from the point of view of the adults, plus a bet between King Philippos and Aristoteles.
Just click on the link above to go straight to that page on my website. They're available in both PDF and HTML formats, depending on which you prefer to read, and what device you're reading them on. While on the site, take time to explore a little. There are a number of extras, including hearing their names, a brief glossary, and even video blogs of the Macedonian countryside showing places mentioned in the books.

Aunque esta segunda parte explora la compleja vida de Alejandro Magno de manera más profunda, no me gustó tanto como la primera. Definitivamente me quedo con el libro anterior, simplemente porqué me conmovió y empaticé mucho más con los personajes en más momentos.
Los personajes son uno de los puntos fuertes de esta historia. Philippos es fascinante, no sé si me agrada o lo detesto, pero cuenta con una perspectiva única en general y sobre Alejandro, que es intrigante. Su relación es tensa y emocionante, nunca sabía que esperar cuando se enfrentaban esos dos.
Hefestión es un personaje muy humano y su lealtad hacia Alejandro es de las cosas que más me emocionan en general. Por otro lado, Alejandro fue un personaje un poco difícil de querer para mí en este libro. Aunque se entiende su comportamiento debido a la presión en la que está sometido y su juventud, había momentos en los que se tornaba insoportable. La relación entre ellos es sorpresivamente realista y conmovedora, me gustó mucho cómo se desarrolló, el amor que se tienen es profundo e innegable y yo solo quería que nada les pasara y fueran felices 😭🫶.
Kleopatra, la hermana de Alejandro, es mi reina y Amyntor, Best father forever. Ambos se ganaron mi corazón ❤️.
La intriga política es compleja y bien ejecutada, pero a veces se siente abrumadora. La autora tiene un conocimiento profundo de la historia, se nota a leguas, pero en algunas partes no logré conectar del todo con su escritura porque la sentía como un montón de datos históricos sin alma. Supongo que me falta ojo de historiadora, porque admito que, en medio de todo, yo esperaba más hazañas de Alejandro.
Otras escenas que no me convencieron mucho, fueron las de sexo, fueron incómodas y toscas. Aunque entiendo que estas no deben ser necesariamente idílicas, sí espera al menos esa intimidad que las caracteriza. Y creo que había partes en las que era intencional, pero en otras no y la narrativa no me convenció en ninguna.
El final fue impactante y me dejó con ganas de leer una continuación 🙏. En general, el libro me gustó, no me deja de fascinar la historia de Alejandro Magno en cualquier presentación y, aunque quería que me gustara más, está no fue la excepción.
