When the criminals come after All Guns Blazing, the Federation teeters on the brink of war.
Magistrate Rivka Anoa and her team are ordered to get to the bottom of what’s plaguing businesses across the Federation.
Getting supplies and turning those into a product that can be sold is the foundation of every business. When those basics devolve, it throws the system into disarray.
A new mob with a new life, sending legitimate businesses into turmoil.
Or is it?
Rivka has to get to the bottom of it and quickly. Terry Henry Walton and his werewolf wife Charumati join Wyatt Earp’s crew to create a little turmoil of their own as they seek to find those responsible and put an end to…
…the crime spree.
Magistrate Rivka Anoa is the legal eagle you want on your side. No better friend. No worse enemy.

I see my other lives, a career in the Marines, those damn hand-written tests in law school, a business consultant, as if they're stories from a book. I see my books as if I lived there, as if I were friends with the characters. All things we remember are behind us, only those we imagine lie before.
I'm not sure which place I prefer, but I don't have to choose. They live together in my mind. My books have some award nominations, they have bestseller tags across multiple countries. I write about justice, honor, and loyalty because that's what I care about. My stories are mostly set within worlds that haven't been, but could be. We have to be ready for when those times come.
No matter where I went, I always had a book with me. Thanks to 21st Century technology, I now have hundreds of books loaded on my phone and always with me. This breakthrough allows me to binge read my favorites. How many books would I have read on deployments had I not had to have a physical book with me? I paced myself so I wouldn't finish too quickly.
We aren't encumbered like that now. I love the works of Robert Heinlein, Anne McCaffrey, JRR Tolkien, Robert E. Howard, and so many more. I have been compared to Andre Norton and that is humbling - she was an incredible author with a huge list of novels to her credit. With every new book, I aspire to live up to those that you, the readers, have compared me to.
Through a bizarre series of events, I ended up in Fairbanks, Alaska. I never expected to retire to a place where golf courses are only open for four months out of the year. But that's the way it is. It is off the beaten path. My wife and I get to watch the northern lights from our driveway. Our dog has lots of room to run. And temperatures reach fifty below zero. We have from three and a half hours of daylight in the winter to twenty-four hours in the summer.
It's all part of the give and take of life. If we didn't have those extremes, then everyone would live in the sub-arctic.
The best thing about a J,J&E novel is the interaction of the team. So many of the writers in legal drama and police procedurals would take the ability of the main character and make her a lone exceptional. The brilliance that Craig Martelle brings to this series is to take several exceptional beings and make them into a supportive team that can defy expectation. That the team leader is a woman is even more astonishing. Another aspect that makes these books unique is the inclusion of machine based life forms that have lives beyond computing and serving humanity. The Singularity as both a political entity and a member of the team adds a dimension to the JJ&E series that sets it apart from other science fiction. Imagining the relationships possible between not only carbon based life forms, but silicon based ones is another layer of complexity I enjoy in these books Lastly, it was a treat to have a reunion with several beloved characters from the broader Kurtherian world. The bad boys and girls of Bad Company were a delightful addition to this outing. Felt like the Wyatt Earp crew had come home again.
As always I loved this one! The characters all mesh so well and the story never gets boring. Anything but that! I could have used a little more Red this time but I look forward to him coming out from his quarters and getting to punch something soon. Can’t wait for the next one. I believe I’ll be rereading the whole series while I wait. I’ve searched for books comparable to this series and I can’t find them, so I just waited long enough so that I may have forgotten something. But I still remember rivka meeting grainier lol and it’s worth reading all over again. Thank you for making these characters come alive. They are truly perfect. I could see this being a hit tv show.
I adore this gorgeous series that Craig and a Michael have produced. For me, there hasn’t been a single disappointment. Everything’s here. Thrill of the chase - check. Favorite characters - check. Fabulous beasts - check. Fantastic relationships - check, and the best food in the galaxy - check, check, check.
As ever, looking forward to the next one… yes, already.
I thoroughly enjoy the JJE stories. I grab each new one as soon as it comes out. I do think however that to many new characters are being added to the crew. It has Rivka spending more time keeping track of the additions to her crew and away from the story. It seems that the favorite characters, the foundation of her Corps are fading into the background more and more.
I do hope that everyone that reads this book enjoys it and recommends it to someone else.
OMG, legal Eagle Rivka and Terry Henry teaming up, what a combination!! Absolutely loved this storyline, especially that we got to see Terry Henry in the mix, along side Char and the War Axe. Really love the betting lines, have quite a giggle over it at times! Bring on the next book, can never have too much Rivka!!
The chaos, oh the lovely lovely chaos. Once you get your brain wrapped around the chaos created by the Walton's, which is a given. The story like all the others in this series pulls you along easily to the finish, I could not put it down. We need more from KGU, ( Thank you Michael Anderle!) keep going Craig Martelle I need my fix.
As with every single book in this series, this book was outstanding! There is action from beginning to end, the plot is easily followed, and the plethora of characters is always interesting. I love the loyalty of Rivka's crew and the fact each would not hesitate to die for the other if necessary. I definitely highly recommend this book!
Crime Spree, book 17, For some reason seemed way more wordy (unnecessary overly long conversations that didn't add to story development) than your earlier JJE books. It was almost like reading a teenager's romance novel. With that said, I still look forward to book 18 The Mob.
Rivka always delivers. Whether it's her core team, Bad Company, or the Singularity. I can't get ennough of TH and Char, so having them around was a wonderful treat. I'd like to see Tiny Man Titan train a cadre of drug sniffing dogs to help Rivka with her next adventure. That would not only be helpful, but can you imagine the insanity?
But I forgot that Craig does need time to write the next ones. I think I have to slow Dow my book reading. Or spread out my authors more. Great entry into this series and I will wait for the next one but I don't know how patient I am when I'm waiting for AGB, oops, I meat JJE.
Congratulation’s to Craig Martelle and Michael Anderle for this amazing series. It’s extremely hard to find such interesting and exciting authors who not only write intelligently but also provide top rated plots, characters and excitement in the stories. I’m really looking forward to the next book.
These books just keep getting better. This one in particular had everything. Old friends, action, excitement, old enemies and new characters who will no doubt become friends. Oh and the story was excellent.
Craig, another wonderful book! I love this series and I’m so excited that there are more books planned. It’s like looking in on how my friends are doing. I definitely recommend this book and the whole series.
Another fantastic read! Each volume continues to amaze with the increasing quality and complexity of the storyline. Craig Martelle is an outstanding writer. I hope this series continues for years to come!
I wonder what the line was on how long TH could stay retired. Not very long obviously. I thought it was a good twist for Tyler to miss the boat back. All in all, I enjoyed this Book 17.
Rivka and her crew have been a favorite since book 1. Craig is a master tale weaver like quite a few of the Michael Anderle team. You'll never go wrong with reading all his stories Howard S
Fast paced, high energy with entertaining characters. This series is great for maintaining your interest. With the pace so constant, it is hard to put down! Make sure you start the series from the beginning!
Loved this installment! TH and Char are back with Bad Company! (Does that mean there will be more Bad Company books? Please, please). Rivka will be working with new crew dynamics. We're missing a cat. I literally can't wait for the next book.
The characters in this series are worthy of your time and attention. The issues are real. Some real gems get dropped. And they are lots of fun. This is good science fiction.
War, legal wrangling, drug smuggling, slave trafficking, white collar crime, merchant of death, fear and anger, love and peace, mixed up into one series!
