This is one of two “green start” books, using 98% post-consumer recycled materials and soy-based inks that I bought to give to a soon to be born baby. Turns out that even though they’re board books, they’re written for children ages 3-6, but I think younger kids can enjoy the pictures and some of the text too.

I liked Animals Everywhere (same publisher and illustrator, different writer) much better than this one. The other didn’t have a story but had a catchy rhyme.

This does tell a story, but not in a way I found that interesting. It goes through the seasons, from spring to spring, discussing the life of the tree and the life that surrounds it, and how new things grow. It was okay but I’ve seen it taught and told better.

The illustrations, despite being on obviously recycled paper board, are fun to view and have some charm.

At the end of the book, there is a great section for adults and older children about trees, how they affect us and how we can save them, making clear that deforestation is a serious threat.

A definite message book, yet appealing nevertheless.

A simple story about the importance of just one tree. Those it helps to shelter and to feed. Attractive illustrations. Ideal for young children

This was a really cute and simple story of the life of a tree. I loved the fact that this is an eco-friendly book as well so it reinforced the idea that trees, and nature, are important.

The story itself is a bit bland, but I added a star because the book is made from 98% recycled materials and because there are lots of cool facts about trees and how important they are at the end.
