Sydney Flores doesn't believe in love. Why should she? Men only want one thing.
As a third-generation working girl, it's all Sydney has ever known.
But when she's done with walking the streets and trades up for a brothel she quickly learns that Ichor isn't just any brothel... it's also a blood bank where lonely vampires come for a little entertainment with their refreshment.
Syd has seen and done it all, so a little fang on the job doesn't scare her away, especially when it comes with security cameras, bouncers, and a 401K. Plus, it takes a whole lot of man to make her Latina blood boil.
So imagine her surprise when she meets three of them...
It was just another night on the job when a shifter, a vampire, and a warlock walked into the bar. That bad joke is her reality.
How fast can she run if love really is on the menu?

I love every chance I get to visit Distant Edge. While this book takes me back to place I’ve previously visited, I’ve never seen this side of it before. Ichor is unlike any other place. And Sydney is a special new kind of heroine. She has an unconventional job that she’s very good at. Something she’s very proud of. This individuality draws people to her; including a shifter chef, a vampire racer, a warlock doctor, and a good-Samaritan witch. All walk into a bar… Sounds like the lead in to a joke. Nope. Just this one-of-a-kind story. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
I really enjoyed this story and how the characters felt real to me. Sydney is more than her 'work' but she has fab work ethic and takes great pride in her clients' satisfaction. I also appreciated her rules - and the desire to break those rules by all three of the men courting her. She finds friendship and safety in unexpected places and I really felt invested in her future. The author did a fab job describing this world, so I could slide easily into the story, and she kept me there with an entertaining plot. Well done!
After reading the description I figured I would be getting a paranormal romance story like what I'm used to. But that's not really what I got. Sydney is a prostitute and works in a brothel with a madam. She's relatively safe because of the bouncers and cameras but not all the time. Paranormal creatures are known and she has a rule against taking vampire blood or being bitten to be a blood donor. I really expected to see more magic, more about the vampires but we hardly ever hear about that, only the fact that Sydney refuses to be a blood donor for any vampires.
This book was mostly about Sydney's life, what led to her being a prostitute and what she does to keep herself safe. The guys who end up falling for her, how and why it happens was too rushed and over the top. The ending abruptly stops which I didn't like at all. The fact that these guys all fall hard for a prostitute when some of them are in fact more than a century old and couldn't find love with anyone else? Really? Was just not believable. The warlock had no idea that magic was being used against him, really? Again, not believable.
I was expecting more romance but with Sydney being a prostitute maybe I shouldn't have been because even though these guys think she's all that and a bag of chips, I didn't care for her personality at all, she's an unlikable character. She sleeps with her new friends boyfriend and doesn't tell her what happened after she starts staying with the both of them? Not a very nice person.
I feel like I was blindsided by the ending and now I'm confused.
I still don't understand why or if Eleanor cast spells on Nial and Kaden.
Or when Sydney is listening in on the conversation between Cheryl, Eleanor, and Maggie and Cheryl tells Eleanor that spells cast isn't allowed but Eleanor starts to protest "but you..." It was already established Cheryl and Eleanor were being shady at the beginning of the book, and no hints on why or what they were doing between start and finish.
Nial goes from I don't love anyone and walks away to I love you please stay in 3 pages.
Overall, I think the story is decent. I just feel like maybe it needs more development.

I think this was one of the "stuff your kindle" books I bought at some point. I was about 30 pages in before I realized what kind of book I was reading lmao. I'm not against romance by any means it just threw me off. ANYWAY its a fine book. I wish the characters were fleshed out a little bit more. Maybe I'm reading things out of order? Niall seems so interesting as a character I mean he is a vampire after all. I guess more backstory would be nice. I'll probably read the rest if that says anything.
This is a very interesting read that is unique and intriguing. I really liked the distinct individuality of each character. This is a really great read that I wished was a bit longer. Overall, this is entertaining and has a great storyline.
I love Chloe Alder’s books, she really knows how to kick off a series that has been fully enthralled by her characters. This is a truly unique story by this talented author but it is fast paced and a quick read. It was great to read multiple POV so that the reader really gets to know all the thoughts of the characters on a deeper level. This book is full of of steam, so enjoy!
Great Read! I thought it had and original plot and moved pretty quickly. I love that we got each guys POVs and I loved how unique they each were. There was angst and some delicious steam! I really enjoyed it!
