If you like historical fiction, you’ll love this series…and if you haven’t started at the beginning, you need to go back to the Courier.

Another well written and interesting story in this series. In this one we hear more from Miles and the RAF teammates. Evie gets some new training and ends up doing some work in her home land. We get to see how her and Miles relationship may progress. Although this book isn’t as fast paced as the previous ones (hey Evie needed a bit of a break) we get more history, stay in touch with Spies,Informants and Nazi characters of previous books. I’m still hooked on this series and await for more,guess I’ll have to reread it all while waiting. Thank you CW Browning!!

When Wolves Gather' is the long awaited 6th book in CW Browning's 'Shadows of War' series. It really felt like forever since finishing book 5 and I couldn't wait to lose myself in this one. CW Browning has not let her dedicated readers down, delivering us another absorbing and engrossing read. The more I read in this series the more invested I become in the characters and the story. In this book Evelyn sticks closer to home - there is no racing across Europe to beat the clock in this one, but danger and intrigue is still ever present. Can't wait for book 7!

Not as good as the previous installments
I have read all the books in the series to date. This was the least enjoyable. The author took pains to detail Evelyn's newly found distaste for her peers' shallowness, but spent probably 75% of the book subjecting readers to the insipid dialogue between all these shallow wealthy characters. Previous books focused on naive Evelyn and her growth, but the plotline of this installment was lost in all the triviality of the characters' chatter about stupid things. This series in general is pretty light in believability, but up u til this book has still been entertaining. I kept reading so that I would keep up on the general storyline. Wen the next installment is released I hope that the author will focus on the historic element and espionage and leave out the drivel.

Another fantastic book in the series. Evelyn is not running across Europe from the Nazi's. This time she is at home and people don't know she is a spy. She uncovers a plot of spies working to help Hitler defeat England. This is a very exciting book the kind you can't put down after you start reading it. Each book draws you in even more. You can read this as a stand alone book, but you will be missing some great reads by not reading the others in the series.

I love this series about Evelyn Ainsworth, an English MI6 agent who has had an exciting few years all over Western Europe - from France to a Norway to Belgium and finally back hoe to Britain in the summer of 1940. The Nazi regime is getting g ready for the Battle of Britain, but Evelyn must figure out who the spy is in her midst, and stop traitors from supporting the Nazis. I will anxiously be awaiting the next book in the series!

Great Britain stands along against Hitler and the third Reich.Evelyn Ainsworth appears to be one of the many prepared to fight. A group of traitors, many of high social standing and as well, related to the crown are plotting against England. An excellent read!!! My highest recommendation!!!Enjoyed immensely!!

Loved the direction this book went in the series. If you love Historical Fiction then you will love getting to know the deeper reality of war when it crosses barriers into your own homeland. I think this was greatly needed to get the full picture of what was happening as a whole during WWII. Great read, I highly recommend.

Another exciting read from C W Browning, fast paced and edge of the seat WW2 spy thriller. I read it in two days, good job I’m retired!! Highly recommended. Looking forward to the next book in this excellent series.

Great! Same as the first five books!
Another fantastic follow on and finish that leaves you anxiously awaiting the next book in the series. If you are a fan of sagas, especially ones set in WWII, then I highly recommend you read this series. You’ll be happy that you did!

Great Story
The author wrote an excellent historical fiction taking place in 1940 as WW2 began. The story is crisp and exciting, the characters are well developed and the writing is superb. I highly recommend this book and the entire Shadows of War series.

good read
I’ve enjoyed reading this series except for the frequent constant, tedious reference to what the characters lips are doing: pursed,twisted,wry,narrowed,thin,curled,thoughtful, twitched etc etc. it’s pads the story out and is a tad distracting and annoying.

I do so enjoy this series. So much detail and facts to be absorbed. This latest novel is more about the Battle of Britain and the bravery of those pilots.
I hope there is a book 7 to follow.?

Liked how this one stayed in England, adding a home twist to the series. Also learned for the first time (!) about the shameful anti-Italian riots in England and Scotland.

Anther wonderful book with lots of suspense. CW Browning delivers well researched and well written books that you do not want to put down.
