This has been a good series, and sadly this one didn't work as well for me as the other stories did.
I had trouble with how quickly Leo and Wren bonded. I could understand how Wren fell so hard, so fast - but Leo's sudden and complete commitment didn't seem true to his character. I also felt like the characters from the earlier books were like "strangers" and didn't seem like themselves when they appeared in Painfully Attractive.
There are some wonderfully written S&M scenes, and I'll read anything BDSM Silvia Violet ever writes. Her scenes are creative and intense, and the dynamic between her partners is always engaging. If these two men had just been play partners who were beginning a relationship, and we didn't need interference from the dad and the best friend and etc, I think it would have worked way better for me.
Silvia Violet is still one of my all time favorites though, and it pains me to have to give any of her books three stars.
Overall: 3.75 stars Performance: 5 stars Story: 3.75 stars Heat levels : 5 out of 5 Angst levels: 3 out of 5 Drama levels: 3 out of 5 Will Re-read/Re-listen : Probably not Recommend: Yes, to BDSM lovers

Angsty. Kinky. Hot AF. is Painfully Attractive in a nutshell.
Greg Boudreaux narration was brilliant!
John Mellencamp sang it; I'm just repeating as it fit this audio perfectly. Hurt so good Come on baby make it hurt so good Sometimes love don't feel like it should You make it hurt so good
ETA: I got this book in audio since it's my favorite of the series and just...GUH, Greg does this stuff so well. I loved his voices for everyone, really brought it all to life. I definitely recommend this series if you want some kink - this one stands pretty well on its own, but you'd definitely enjoy it more if you have at least read the first two books probably.
Oh man, this might be my favorite book of the entire series so far! I was really looking forward to Wren and Leo's story, and it definitely didn't disappoint! With this story you've got an age gap, some kinky play (including one I don't often read about), and the makings for some perfect angst!
This is the 4th book in the Love and Care series, and although this one stands well on its own, I think you'd really enjoy it more having read the previous books in the series since all the other couples are involved at various parts here. Wren is Graham's son and also best friends with Avery, who is dating Graham. Leo is best friends with Graham, has a bit of a sexual past with Graham, and really helped Graham out after his divorce.
The chemistry between Wren and Leo is just off the charts. These two were kinky, hot, and emotional, right from the start. Although Leo was concerned about getting involved with Wren due to Graham's involvement in their lives, he can't resist the pull. Of course, things can't remain a secret forever, and I felt that Graham's reactions were realistic - even though he himself is in a kinky relationship with a much younger man, it can totally feel different in the moment when you learn the same thing is happening to your kid. Especially with Graham knowing the kinks that Leo plays with.
We get to see a bit of Max and Elliot, Sean and Blake, more with Avery and Graham, and I just love this group of friends and family. I don't know whose story would be up next, but I love this series and the kinks and tropes that Silvia Violet is exploring. Hope to read more!
I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.
***** 5 Stars ! Exquisite relationship between two men; a Dom who can give his sub what he needs, and with that need fulfilled, gives the Dom what his own needs require. A perfect, thrilling BDSM senario. Leo and Wren. * Younger Wren, college student was attacked (previously) and rescued in time and taken to safety. * Older Leo, BDSM Club owner, a certified teacher, counselor, etc. we have met in previous books. Then, Leo is called to help "Will" aka Wren. In that help, a deal is struck so Wren could find the true guidance he needed, but when Wren reveals his true identity, Leo says "no." With long, intense conversations and magnificent attraction, they reset their bargain. * We get to see BDSM perfection in action. Proper talks, conscent, reassurance, before and after care, plus satisfaction for both guys. We can feel their deep passion; it's exciting, with extreme sex scenes, and we watch the bond grow. * This is a terrific, well written tale of finding trust, peace and happiness for our men. There is hardcore BDSM, with restraints, needle play, electric wand use, edging, spanking, paddles, crops and caning, and mild humiliating language (name calling), but Daddy is only used a few times. All of which are portrayed with sane and conscentual play.
We learn as we watch the displays. Their secret play and relationship is revealed badly and we have tense moments. Then, there are more talks.
I've loved Leo through this whole Silvia Violet series and Wren is a fantastic character with backbone. A beautiful story. Highly recommended. ENJOY !
Painfully Attractive is the fourth book in Silvia Violet’s Love and Care series. We have met both Leo and Wren in earlier books, but I do think this one mostly stands alone from a plot perspective. However, Graham and Avery obviously play a significant side role here, and other characters do appear from earlier in the series (including a repeat of a scene between Sean and Wren that first appears in Demanding Discipline, but this time from Wren’s POV).
This story is kind of simple from a plot perspective as the conflict is set up at the start of the book. That gives plenty of time to focus on the developing connection between Wren and Leo. There is a nice sense of romance between the two and the men fall fast and hard for one another. The attraction they feel for one another is really palpable and I could believe that Leo would risk his friendship for a chance to be with Wren. I do think I would have liked more time with the men outside the bedroom in order to really see the romantic side develop, not just the lust or the kink compatibility. But I liked these men together and there is a sweetness here that I appreciated and that makes a nice contrast with the more hard core side of things. I also really enjoyed reconnecting with the characters from the rest of the series and Violet brings the plots and characters all together here really nicely.
Being someone who is curious about pain is hard enough, but finding someone to help you explore that kink is a whole other thing. It’s a treacherous journey to undertake and not for the faint of heart. But there’s something internally in these people that craves the connection, the intimacy. Having someone inflict pain is a transcendent experience and, needless to say, being with the right person is critical. Trust has to be there and even if the person has been vetted thoroughly, there’s a risk.
Wren, unfortunately, finds this out the hard way. One bad hook-up and he’s almost ready to give up on his dream of meeting the right man who will teach him about pain. Wren’s friend calls Leo to take care of the young man after the bad encounter and Leo is happy to help. He’s been in the lifestyle for years, even owning two kink clubs. If there’s anyone who knows about bad scenes, it’d be him. He can also recognize ‘new blood’ and Wren fits that description perfectly – wanting to learn but not knowing how to negotiate. Leo reluctantly takes on the role of mentor, but soon he finds himself desiring to be the one to introduce Wren to pain. The one to show the young man how good pain can feel.
Now there’s just one little problem – Leo and Wren’s father are best friends. It’s complicated, but Leo doesn’t know Wren’s true identity and when the young man finally owns up…? Well, let’s just say it doesn’t go well. But the pull is strong and sometimes feelings override common sense. Leo doesn’t want anyone else to show Wren and Wren has bonded to Leo as can happen after intense scenes.
I love how openly this book addresses pain play. Even within the kink community, there are those who look down upon it. Who don’t understand it. For those of us involved, it truly is transcendent. Most people will never understand and I don’t have enough time to try to put it into words, but subspace is an amazing place and needless to say, I wanted Wren to have a happy, albeit painful, ending.
Greg Boudreaux narrated this story and he’s always one of my favorites. He nailed the older Leo perfectly while giving Wren a younger but no less mature voice. Silvia and Greg are a good combination and I’m so glad I listened to this book. I own the first three books in the series and plan to go back to listen to them, but this book works well as a stand alone and I can definitely recommend it.
Ho adorato entrambi i personaggi. Bella, bella, bella! Merita 5 stelline e tanto amore 😍
I could not wait for Leo and Wrens story after reading the previous books in this series! The whole dynamic was interesting between Wren, Leo and Wren's dad Graham, that I wondered how things would play out. I liked seeing them build that relationship without the outside influence at first and not really having the drama it brings until the end of the book. And truly, there really was not much drama at all. The drama surrounding Graham finding out about Leo and Wren was pretty short-lived.
This book has some unique kinks that were HOT. I love when an author goes a little bit outside of the box with what I generally read and there was a little bit of that in this story. All of the steamy scenes had me fanning myself and wanting more. I always enjoy getting a little of the previous books MC's and seeing where their relationship has gone. We get a couple nice tidbits from past characters that made me super happy! This book had the perfect combination of sexy and sweet and I hope we get a short with at least one of the characters in the future ;)
// Okay I think I need to give up on this series and on this author o__O ... the WHOLE plot is about sex and not telling Wren's dad, Graham, that Wren is dating his dad's best friend! The whole world knows they're together except for Graham, and frankly, this irritates me like nothing else >:-o!! There is ZERO plot development, ZERO character development, and as sexy as the sex was, even that wasn't scintillating enough to keep me from skimming; there was just a whole lot of NOTHING CHANGES!! I just didn't get what was SO great about these two that: 1) Leo would go behind his best friend's back and basically let everyone in on his relationship with Wren EXCEPT his best friend; ultimately jeopardizing their friendship!! Blech, this just irritated me, have some fucking respect for a friendship you claim means so much to you and grow some honourable balls!!! 2) Wren JUST started building his relationship with his father and not only is he acting like a kid who wants to be treated like an adult - ah the irony - he manages to involve AVERY, and every other person who knows about him and Leo, turning them all into accomplices the longer they keep this shit secret!! Yup, that's a terrific way to build relationships between friends and family ... LIE!! *Rolling eyes so hard the person next to me probably thinks I'm possessed*!!
Thing is, what's the big fucking deal?!!? Feel out the relationship and if you decide to go forward, sit down together to tell your father, and DON'T FUCKING INVOLVE YOUR FATHER'S HUSBAND-TO-BE FOR FUCK'S SAKE!!!
This COULD have been a fun story and it's not the plot that annoyed me as much as this author's execution of said plot! I tried to like this book, I tried HARD, but the more I forced myself to continue, the more this felt like a punishment!! I was bored, unimpressed, and now I am done; with the book and this author!! I'm thinking my liking the trilogy that introduced me to this author was merely a coincidence, because this author is NOT for me!! This author - IMHO - made a mess of this plot AND I think this author also seriously sucks at writing HEAs [it's like she couldn't be bothered to invest in writing them]! I mean even at the very end, it was JUST about the sex! Holy shit, we get it, they're combustible together, now invest in the friggin' story and in the relationship itself :-/!! Nah, I'm done!!
A May-December romantic relationship between Wren & Leo with an added dynamic of BDSM. This story seemed condensed, not fully fleshed out. In the beginning, Wren is involved in a traumatic incident with a BDSM date gone bad, but it is glossed over. Even during an intense conversation with Graham, his Dad, the issue was never discussed. Also in some scenes Leo is little immature, although he is supposed to be older and wiser. Overall, story was readable but could have been better.
The negative: They're too instantly attracted and everything wrapped up too neat and easy. Too rushed. Too easy to guess. No surprises. It doesn't get to unwrap and unfold really. That takes away from the whole. I liked the first ones in the series lots more and I was a bit disappointed at this one specifically for this.
An enjoyable read ... Leo & Wren. While there was an age gap this was definitely no Daddy vibe - S&M for sure. I would have loved more depth to this story as there could have been a strong emotional vibe develop. For me this was more surface, still a good read if you enjoy this series 😊
Doch Leon erscheint Will als perfekt.
Will spielt ein gefährliches Spiel.
Wren has long been fascinated by the blurred line between pleasure and pain, but when he finally acts on his desires, things go wrong. Leo—his father’s best friend—comes to his rescue, and Wren immediately senses that Leo is the perfect guide into the world he craves. Leo, upon realizing who Wren is, vows to keep his distance. He knows Wren's father would never approve, and he values their friendship too much to risk it. But resisting Wren proves impossible. Their attraction runs deeper than mere desire, and despite the risks, they begin a secret relationship. As they explore their connection, it becomes clear that Wren is perfectly suited for everything Leo has to offer—both emotionally and physically. However, hiding can only last so long. The real challenge comes when they must face Wren’s father and decide whether their love is strong enough to overcome the obstacles in their path.
I loved this story with the budding relationship between the two men who had well aligned kinks. I also enjoyed the emotional impact of who Wren's father was to Leo. The dramatic story was easy to feel and be invested in the outcome. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.
This series!! So hot and steamy! Once I started this book, I couldn’t put it down! In fact my eyes are gritty this morning from being up until 1:30am. I loved Wren and Leo’s story and I’ve been impatiently awaiting as their characters started to develop within the series. Their chemistry was great and Leo was just the Dom that Wren needed. I liked the care that Leo took with Wren and not just in the bedroom. I also appreciated how Graham ultimately handled their relationship. Fabulous series with each book having its own sexiness!
4.5* At the beginning I felt like already read it all until around 30%. Not sure if it was the preview after the last book or bits read in the other books. I couldn’t wait to finally read Wren and Leo’s story.
I couldn’t stop reading and finished nearly in one go. I loved the story. The scenes were hot, I love reading pain and needle play.
Sometimes, the story felt a bit flat and conflicts got resolved fast or abruptly. At the end the book felt too short and I would have loved to read more about these two.
I liked the pull between Leo and Wren, how their pain kinks match so well that they can't stay away despite their complicated family/friend relationship. But just isn't my thing, so that part was a little difficult to read. Otherwise, good characters building a more complete world here!
While I wanted a little more story I did enjoy this . It's very high steam with pain kinkk exploration - Cane, paddle, crop, electricity play, sensation play, and needle play
I skipped to this one after attempting to read “After the Weekend”, which I dnfed bc it was an annoying rehash of the first book and Sean irritated me too much to even attempt his book. But I was looking forward to learning more about Leo and Wren; unfortunately, I was disappointed by how it turned out.
While insta-love is a hallmark of the series, Wren and Leo jump into a relationship after Leo’s token protest pretty quickly. Which is fine if done right but felt a bit rushed. I probably could have been ok if the big reveal hadn’t taken up so much page time dedicated to making Graham out to be an asshole. If you’re going to write a blatantly broadcasted “dad finds out before we can tell him” scene and paint him as the angry asshole, at least write it so he doesn’t have a reason to be angry.
After all the MANY pages of dialogue dedicated to Graham freaking out about his masochist BFF and pain slut son being together, don’t make it so that .
It’s always easy to fall back on the righteous indignation of “we didn’t tell you bc we knew you’d be angry” and then calling someone an asshole while acting like they don’t have a right to be hurt/work through their feelings. These scenes are one of the most hurtful ways a character can learn something and yet no one allows for them to be upset/process without name calling.
The kink and edge-play scenes are good but the story jumps straight into one right after the big reveal and I just couldn’t get into the story at all after that. The emotional connections between any of the characters just weren’t there for me; it all felt overly dramatic, contrived and ultimately disconnected.
Painfully Attractive is book 4 in the Love and Care series by Silvia Violet. It can be read as a standalone, but I think the experience might be best if you read the books in order, seeing as the characters from the previous books appear prominently in this one.
While I can't say that I particularly care for the pain aspect of BDSM, I will admit that Ms. Violet did a great job in this book balancing the pain Wren craved with the care that Leo provided him afterward. I loved seeing them build a relationship that started a bit unconventionally, with Wren being rescued by Leo and Avery, his father's best friend and boyfriend, respectively, from an abusive bastard that didn't respond well to Wren's denial. The chemistry between Leo and Wren was undeniable, as was the big obstacle in their way, the fact that Avery's dad was Leo's best friend and Leo didn't want to jeopardize that friendship. While Leo pushed Wren away, I was very happy that he came back to his senses quite fast and I was even happier that Wren didn't just take him back without a promise that Leo wouldn't push him away again.
I loved that Wren had Sean and Avery to talk to and that all the rest of their group of friends backed him and Leo up when Graham found out about their relationship.
Overall, this was a very hot view into a more hardcore BDSM relationship where the pain is craved by the sub and provided by the Dom, but still encased in a cocoon of care and mutual trust. I know this is not for everyone, but if you enjoy a little kink in your books, I'm pretty sure you'll love this one!

I listened to the audio version of this book. The characters here draw you in immediately. Wren, who has wanted to explore pain play for years and Leo an experienced Dom with years of experience initiating new subs into exactly the kind of play Wren wants. The problem is, Leo is Wren's father's best friend. This obviously has trouble written all over it when Leo is called to help and counsel Wren after he meets a person he met online and the scene goes dangerously wrong. Wren knows who Leo is, but Leo does not recognize Wren who he last saw as a young child. There is instant attraction and Wren gives Leo a false name and initiates a relationship. As secrets begin to come out, four relationships are tested to and beyond the breaking point. The writing makes it clear that though there is an age and experience difference between Leo and Wren, both are consenting adults and all there activities are 100% consensual and receive explicit verbal consent. Eventually, since all the characters are decent loving people fences are mended and there is a happily ever after. Be aware that the descriptions of Leo's and Wren's scenes are explicit and involve needles, piercings, clips, etc. Greg Boudreaux as always is amazing in his performance. Each character has a distinct voice and personality, the parts where friends and lovers are separated will break your heart and you will totally believe the pain scenes in their mix of pain and pleasure. His performance paints word pictures just like you are watching a film.
"Painfully Attractive" was my first read/listen in author Silvia Violet's Love and Care series, but I had no trouble picking up on the relationships between characters. If anything, it made me want to listen to Book 1 to explore this series and its interconnected characters from the beginning.
The BDSM pleasure-pain element in this story was a reading experience I hadn't yet encountered, but it plays such an integral role in the characters' lives that it didn't really even stand out once the story got going (so basically from the first sentence). Much to the author's credit, Wren's kink exploration with Leo never sounded too explanatory or clinical; rather, it unfolded naturally throughout the story and only added to the sense of deepening intimacy between the two. There isn't much angst in this story and although there were times I was silently yelling at Wren and Leo to "Just tell Graham already!" - a sign I was fully engrossed in the story - it was actually handled quite realistically for all of the characters involved rather than being rushed or glossed over, which I appreciated.
Greg Boudreaux is one of my favorite narrators and it just any wonder why? His engaging performance made this a very enjoyable listen.

Leo è dolce, sensibile, dominante e protettivo. Ho adorato entrambi i personaggi.

I have devoured this series! Each couple explored their BDSM play with consent yet wrapped in a sensually erotic web of love! Here each Dom pushed their sub beyond their believed limits and both partners were pleasured! This series took me down some unforeseen roads but I enjoyed the journey explored by each couple. Each partner was able to show their vulnerabilities to one another. Leo and Wren had a complicated romance because Wren was the youngest son of Leo’s best friend Graham. There was a time post divorce that Graham has been estranged from all 3 of his kids. Leo became Graham’s only family until Graham reconciled with his children. They had even had sex with one another in the past but soon realized as 2 Doms, friendship was best. Graham knows Leo’s preferences for pain and edgier play. No parent wants to consider the sexual exploits of their children but it takes a moment for Graham to overcome his own hypocrisy and accept this couple. In time, they all come together because both Leo and Wren are truly in love with one another. Graham understands the power of love due to the love he shared with Avery. Avery and Graham found one another at his eldest son Carter’s wedding. Avery is the best friend of Graham’s new daughter-in-law Felicity. I enjoyed this series, devoured it soundly and look forward to reading more titles by this author, Silvia Violet!
4 stars. I just love this series so much. It's kinky and sexy and cute and sweet all at the same time. I think this one and the third book are tied as my favorites. This was so good and features a kink that I've never read about so that was fun. Pain kink sounds absolutely terrifying but the way the author wrote those scenes was really well done. They were intense but also still very hot.
Wren and Leo are wonderful characters and I loved the both of them. Their relationship was great and I love that they were open and honest with each other. They talked and figured things out instead of unnecessary drama. They have great chemistry and them exploring things together was just so cute. They brought out the best in each other and I think Leo was the absolute perfect person for Leo and vice versa.
I really hope that there is going to be more books in this series. It was wonderful seeing all of the characters from the other books and the ending was so stinking adorable. I've got my fingers crossed that there will be more to come.
Could not finish this as it includes needles/piercing play on nipples and 🍆 (oh and electricity play), which is really not my thing at all. Honestly I don’t get how you can write books with BDSM romance without any CW in the description and at the beginning of the book itself. I was already surprised by the 3 first ones but this one I thought was too much.
Once I realised it was not for me (I wouldn’t have even started it if I had some CW to check) I fast forwarded to see the scene where Graham finds out that Leo is having a relationship with his son since I already knew those characters from the previous books and wanted to see how it was handled. Well I wish I hadn’t read it since we learn that Leo used to fuck Graham 😵 I’m sorry but what? Leo fucked Graham and now he’s with his son? 🤮 It could have been about Leo and Graham’s friendship but suddenly we got this new info that’s really unsettling IMO.
I finish this series really disappointed by this author in the end. Glad it was on KU at least
Wren is unsure of so many things in his life. Leo is starting to worry that he’s lost his love of being a Dom. An unfortunate experience brings them together, but they are immediately attracted to each other.
There are so many obstacles for them to overcome.
The fact that the story doesn’t gloss over the long friendship that Leo and Graham have is important. Leo and Wren being together directly impacts that. Especially considering that Leo and Graham were intimate years ago. Also, the relationship affects the budding family relationship that they all want. Graham and Wren reconnecting; Leo finding his place within it as Wren’s partner and Leo’s friend and Graham’s relationship with Avery.
The story also has Leo and Wren engaging in acts that some might consider extreme. Their intimacy isn’t for the faint of heart. But it’s honest, and fully described that there are ways that things can go wrong.
Hopefully this isn’t the last story in the series.
Ok so I finished this book a few hours ago and I’m still stuck in the world of Leo and Wren! This book was a huge anticipated wait for me and boy did it blow me away! We could already see the chemistry between them in the previous book, but when we get the full story hot damn it’s explosive! I’ve loved both these guys from the get go and to have so much more of them was amazing.
This was my first book with a certain type of pain play and wow it blew my mind! I was breathless and I wanted more and I still want more! That was amazing!!!!
And of course the dynamic in the group shifting a little due to Graham and his stubbornness was expected, but thankfully he pulled his head out!
Omg there is so much I could say but I won’t do it justice! I just want more from these guys!!!! Definitely worth the wait and definitely happy it was such a fabulous story!!!!
