I love books about individual seasons in Major League Baseball and this book by Dan Flaherty had everything I was looking for on the 1978 baseball season. The author ends up talking about all the teams at least a little bit, but focuses on the teams that were in pennant races. He explains the season and what was happening week by week but the bulk of the book is still on the Yankees/Red Sox, Pirates/Phillies races as well as the Royals/Angels/Rangers and Dodgers/Giants/Reds races. The entire ALCS and NLCS is covered as well as the World Series. I felt like I was right there in 1978 watching all the games. Not many quotes from players, but still great research and writing. Loved it.

This book brings back sooooo many memories of the 78 season. It’s a time capsule where, if you were alive and loved baseball then, the season comes back to life. So many players that I remember when I was growing up and wanted to be like when I played ball. This is definitely one of the most comprehensive books on the 1978 season I’ve ever read.
