Great, and now I've being told that I have to, yet again, wait a whole month for what happens next. The Winter goddess truly is something else. Scary, scary but I love it. Zoey, my boy, you better come back okay, i am not accepting anything else. Now to the scream: OH MY GOD, SO MUCH HAPPENED, AAAAAAAAHHHHHH, THIS IS PRECISELY WHY I LOVE THE ANCIENT MAGUS' BRIDE SO MUCH, IT'S GOOD I MEAN, CHISE, ZOEY AND PHILOMENA??? ALL THE OTHER CHARACTERS ARE AMAZING, DON'T GET ME WRONG, BUT THIS THREE WITH ALL THIS SUPERNATURAL THINGS AND POWERS, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH I LOVE IT SO MUCH, I NEED THE NEXT CHAPTER NOW.
I really enjoyed getting out of the college for this volume . There was so much going on that I got a little lost here and there, but this volume also brought some tertiary characters back in and made their storylines relevent again. As much as Morrigan was deus ex machina, I really enjoyed her chapter and the reminder that Chise is a magic magnet. I also enjoyed seeing Alcyone's backstory.
Tutte rappresentate su carta in maniera geniale.
In my latest catch up on this series, I read it from volume 9 (the conclusion of the Cartaphilus arc) to the end of volume 17. This follows Chise and Elias as they join the school for Alchemists, and follows them as they meet a large number of new characters and learn about the situations they are living in. Volume 17 does not complete this arc, though it feels like it is getting close to a conclusion. I very much enjoyed the story, but there is a *lot* going on, with a lot of very different characters to meet who all have their own back stories and inner demons. Reading any one of the volumes in this set would be pretty confusing, and the story is not yet completed. While I read and enjoyed it up to volume 17, it would be more satisfying to wait until the current arcs are complete (volume 18? 19?) and read it all in one go.
I finished off the series as far as my library has them on offer. I'll have to get the others later, but I think I'll take a little break from the series (not because I didn't enjoy it, but because I have a ton of others to read).
I have really enjoyed this series, and I am really curious to see what happens with the school and everyone that's now a part of the story. At this point, I can start to see how things may wrap up, so I'm curious if the 19th volume is the absolute final volume, or if there will be others to follow.
I highly recommend this series to anyone who is looking for somewhere to start in the world of manga.
I've been waiting for this since I read volume 16.
I was hoping for more answer than what we got. Philomena has turned into a false god with the intentions of resurrecting her parents, though I feel this is under the orders of her Grandmother who wants to see her son Adam again. This is probably why the tome was stolen.
The Headmistress tells Chise not to do anything reckless, while she vacant the school. In the meantime, the dragon inside of Chise has awakened and is seen underground. I am still unsure of that part but I am hoping that we get more details soon.
We do see a memory of Philomena's parents and how they tried to hide from Adam's mother. Philomena is often told that she is a disappointment and they everything she does it wrong. She argues with another classmate stating "if you are going to blame me so much for being wrong, then tell me what was right!'
Looking forward to the next volume.

This one was tense and devastating. I knew Philomela didn't have a great childhood from the past volumes, but I couldn't have imagined all this, and for her story to be laid out this way was heart wrenching.
But OMG.... Chise!! Just when you think you know her, she does something so surprising that I could never have imagined it ever!! Just shooketh!!!!
Plus a lot of the different arc are finally coming together and so many pieces are being revealed in such a fast pace that I can't wait to jump into the next volume
4.5/5 A truly devastating volume of Ancient Magus Bride. We're getting into the climax of this arc, which is thankfully untangling some of the story points and mysteries woven so far. It's great to see Zoe thrive and have a positive impact. The confrontation in next volume is sure to be intense and likely heartbreaking in some fashion.
It's getting messy, and I'm not sure if it's because of the fact that I'm speed reading due to anxiety or just the story itself. Either way I loved it but it is a mess. And that cliffhanger. Good gravy.
Things are finally getting revealed and the action begins. Still a little confusing with Yamazaki keeping things close to the vest, but back in the territory of fantastic action that made me a fan in the first place.
Whoa! A God's help! Background on Philomela...kind of a sad background, did her mother really have a choice being with her father? Alcyone....I know she is supposed to be a "thing" but she loves Philomela so much, I hope she can help save her.

I think I'm getting tired of MC's constantly foolish choices. It was kind of nice when the adults called her out on how selfish her behavior is. Almost no sorry progression here, just more battle and crazy.
The narrative continues to build toward the climax, with extensive attention paid to Philomela's backstory and motivations. Zoey has an opportunity to prove himself, and Chise and Elias use their skills to good effect.
I think I like this series less when we have to go volume by volume. 😅 This one especially had a lot of mysterious things happen and gave hardly any answers.
