Maybe even 2.5 stars.

I liked Brooke and Gabe for the most part in this story. Once they decided to be together, they were pretty cute.

Here's where I just couldn't rate it anymore....its a rant.

Gabe and Brooke are not siblings...not even close. They never met until she was 16 and he was in his 20's and it was one time. She wrote to him for two years but he never wrote back....because she was a minor?? Suffice to say that it is absolutely ridiculous that they call each other brother/ sister. Never once did they have that kind of relationship. I get that this is supposed to be the forbidden aspect of their relationship. But it just doesn't hold water for me. I don't buy it. They were strangers. He wasn't even raised by his mom (her stepmother).....so they didn't even share an upbringing! Ugh....So not only was this gross but also completely inaccurate.

Also......Gabe all the sudden gets pissed at the end when all the guys are calling Brooke his sister... For real??? You just called her that two pages ago. I can't....

“And just like that, my life has just become infinitely more complicated.”

In book four of this very enjoyable series Gabe finally finds his step-sister, Brooke. Neither are what I expected but that’s not a bad thing. I really liked them both a lot! Gabe was much more of a sweetheart than I thought although I should have expected it. I mean there he is in the middle of a zombie apocalypse and he’s desperately trying to find his little “sis” who he hasn’t seen since she was sixteen. Brooke was a sweet girl and I really felt sorry for her. She’d had such a lonely life and deserved to be with someone who truly loved her.

I liked that we started with their first meeting years before. Even though their time together was brief they clearly formed a special bond that really explained their connection later. It made their relationship much more believable.

Of course the series has far to go. There are several secondary characters that need their stories and the overall arc has tons of twists and secrets that still need to be followed and revealed. I’m hoping the obnoxious Dale will be soon. That man needs a serious and humbling lesson in the power of love.

I’m super excited Cole is next! He’s one of my favorites, so dark, mysterious and lonely. I’ve been really looking forward to his story. His apparent pairing with bad girl Amber, who clearly has unknown depths, is surprising and I’m betting it’s going to be an emotionally hard road for them both. Hopefully I won’t have to wait for too long!.

Ah, Big brother, Gabriel & little sis, Brooke. Thank goodness they aren't actually related, cuz the chemistry between them is electric!!

Gabriel has been looking for Brooke since he became part of the Keep. Poor Brooke! Her evil Mom & her Dad overprotected her with their wealth & impossible expectation. After the apocalypse, her Mom sold her! The intrigue is increasing with the unknowns of the rampant infection.

I've never been much of an apocalypse or zombie fan, but I'm glad I took a chance on this series. It is dark, romantic & super hot. While it is a series, each book is a stand-alone. While there are small references to previous books, each book can be enjoyed without reading any previous books.

The upcoming book is available in Kindle Vella, so you can check it out for free!

Definitely recommend this book & the entire series to date!.

I don't usually read apocalyptic books, but when I saw L.J. Anderson did her dark romance series set in this world. I just had to give it a try, and I have to admit, I was blown away by how great not only the writing is, but the storyline too. It's a little bit of the Walking Dead and a little bit of Night of the Living Dead mixed together to combine the perfect blend of snarky humor.

Sinful Bargain is the first book I've read by L. J. Anderson, and I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the King's and Queens of the Apocalypse series. This is one new series that just got put on auto purchase!

In this book Gabriel finally finds his "sister", Brooke. I wanted to like this story as much as the others, but.... We find out that Brooke is his step sister and she didn't know he existed until she was 16.
What didn't work for me was the supposed feelings they had for each other, even though they didn't know each other. She claimed to want him from the moment she met him.🙄 He watched videos of her and claimed to want her back then.
Brooke was bratty, manipulative and unlikable. Gabriel was weak.
The author tried to keep this a taboo read by having him keep calling her little sister at the wrong times. It just didn't work.
Hopefully, the next book will be better.

I loved this! Guess I'm enjoying apocalypse books.
This was about Gabriel who is an ex soldier now in pest control but searching for his step sister, Brooke.
I really liked the concept of this book. Not related except by marriage. It did annoy me he kept bringing up about it even though they weren't related but I got over it.
It was well written, with Gabe and Brooke being great characters and with obvious attraction. Such a great book!
This was an ARC and this is my honest review.

I picked this one up because I really enjoyed Four by Veronica Roth and this story did not disappoint. I really liked Brooke and the fact that the story was written in the first person point of view which is a deal breaker for me. And when Gabriel came into the picture of course all hell broke loose in a good way. 5 stars.

This dark romance did not have a long enough page length to satisfactorily resolve the series conflicts raised therein, in my opinion. As a result, the relationship development and characterization felt uneven and unreal.

Another fantastic instalment in the Kings and Queens of the Apocalypse series. Deliciously dark and sinful. Great characters, and a well written storyline. Would recommend.

I loved the story of Gabriel and Brooke. It was taboo and forbidden, passionate, dangerous, and adventurous. I am really enjoying the apocalyptic romances from this author.

Amidst the background of a zombie apocalypse, Gabe searches for his stepsister, Brooke, and rescues her from a dangerous, degrading situation. Gabe wants to be a protective older brother, but Brooke isn't an innocent teenager anymore, and wants him in other ways.

Will they be able to come to a resolution of their situation, and remove to the relative safety of the Keep?

The story has lots of violence, danger, and sizzling heat.
