A slow burn Navy SEAL romance.

Millie Marsh is the most annoyingly independent woman I’ve ever met. I was assigned to protect her on this mission, but I’m probably going to kill her myself before it’s over. I gave her a direct order today. She ignored it. Ignored it! I’m Mason Davis—the leader of one of the most feared SEAL teams in the country. No one has ever ignored my orders. Until now.

Every time she glares at me with those steely green eyes, my head feels like it’s going to explode. I want to throw her up against a wall and . . . well, that’s where it starts to get tricky because I’m not sure what I want to do once I get her there. Yell at her? Sure. Shake her into submission? Definitely. But despite her willful defiance of me, I also want to rip off her clothes and take her on the spot.

Why am I so turned on by this frustrating woman? Yeah, her butt looks amazing in those little cargo pants she’s always wearing, but it’s more than that. Underneath her tough exterior, I can sense a vulnerability—the sweetest sensuality that’s eager to expose itself to any man who will make it his life’s work to protect it. And God help me, I think I want to be that man.

“High heat and nail-biting suspense!!!!! I was sucked into Millie and Mason’s world within minutes! Brilliant storyline and such likable characters that you can’t help but fall in love with! Mason is just the right amount of tough alpha hero and a soft squishy heart that just might have met his match in Millie! Outstanding read!” Amazon Review

“This book and author took me by surprise, and I will be telling ALL my friends about it! Great military suspense with twists and turns, and a fantastic story.” Amazon Review

“This book deserves so much more then 5 stars. I literally couldn’t stop turning the pages. I had to know all about Millie’s life, how everything was going to turn out. I went right on to the second book. Such a nice escape.” Goodreads Review

This is the first book I wrote, and because of that, it will forever be endearing to me. I started writing fiction when we were all locked down at the beginning of the Covid pandemic as a way to escape the craziness that was going on in the world. Eight Years was the result. It's also special to me because of the sweet relationship between the protagonist and her dad. My dad was the inspiration behind that character.

If you like Eight Years, read the rest of the trilogy - The Only Reason and Wild Card. And next move on to The Grand Slam Series: Truth or Tequila: A steamy romantic comedy. and Raine Out. Raine Out features characters from both series.

One review for all three books in this trilogy -- I really enjoyed it from start to finish, and the author didn't slack as the story continued from one book to the next. At times I felt it might be lagging in some needed depth, but the books aren't long and were quick-reads. Overall, the complete story was very entertaining and interesting filled with suspense, mystery and romance -- and enough light-hearted and fun-to-read dialogue. Two very strong and determined main characters, a team of hot Navy SEALs and lots of action in fast paced plot that covers years, kept me needing more and didn't stop until I read the three books back to back.

The first book in the Trident Trilogy ‘Eight Years’ was absolutely unputdownable. I started reading and I did not get up or stop until I had reached the end. It’s fast-paced, deliciously intriguing and easy to follow, yet at the same time it’s oozing with romance and packed with explosive twists and an entirely enticing storyline🙌🏻

I found myself rooting for the characters right away. The romance has heartfelt moments, as well as spicy ones — it captures the reader right away. What really — really — hooked me though was the twisty plot! The action, the story, the mystery are original and unpredictable! I loved how it was a SEAL story, since I had not read one before!

All in all, ‘Eight Years’ is a great start to what is a SEAL romance trilogy (it can be read as a standalone!), that had me flipping pages and reading quite fast! Romantic, action-filled, twisty! 4 stars⭐️

This book had me from the beginning - I’m a navy wife local to the area discussed in this book and LOVE the amount of research and subsequent attention to detail that was done in order to make it so immersive and real. I sped through not just this first book, but the rest of the trilogy. The characters are wholesome and I’ve grown so attached to them that I’ve loved seeing them in Donna’s other books (I raced through everything she has out!).

I really liked this book and was so shocked that I’ve never heard of it before! This book goes from past and present POV where we get to see Millie as a child and her relationship with her Navy SEAL dad to her adulthood as a CIA agent. The more you learn about her childhood, the more questions start to arise that we get to see Millie search out as an adult.

Millie was so happy when her dad, a SEAL was around. Then her dad died, and she discovered the secret he never wanted her to know. She overheard her dad's best friend talking about her birth.
She gets into the CIA and meets Mason who is a SEAL.

I really enjoyed this sweet book. The storyline was incredibly unique and wasn’t entirely what I expected. It journeys through Millie’s life and her relationship with her father and secrets that have been dug up since his passing. Though this secret is a big one, it is an indirect part of the storyline. Millie builds a relationship with a SEAL team and starts to fall for one of the operators on the team. There are so many similarities between Mason and Millie’s father, and he helps her work through issues that she’s been keeping to herself for ...well... eight years! I loved the multi-perspective writing of this book as well. Chapters alternate between Mack, Mason, and Millie. This is all in all a solid book, it was on the shorter side and parts of it were a bit cheesy but who doesn’t like a little bit of cheese?

This is worth every single star, tear, and laugh. I've read all of Donna's books except the Trident Trilogy, so I know of these characters, just now how they started. I absolutely love getting to know them from the beginning. Meeting the team from the beginning had me so giddy. I love how strong and fierce Millie is and that she drives Nash wild. The storyline moves so quickly, and I was so wrapped up in it that I couldn't turn the pages quickly enough. I'm immediately starting book two and can't wait for more Milli, Nash, and the SEAL team!

This book deserves so much more then 5 stars, it definitely deserves to be recognized.
I literally couldn’t stop turning the pages, I had to know all about Millie’s life, how everything was going to turn out.

This book was absolutely amazing! I just don’t have the right words right now to explain how awesome this book is.

If you haven’t heard of it, you definitely need to add it to your list of books to read.

Great read that had me fully involved from the start. I loved Millie and getting to know her with the flashbacks as she grew up and how that influenced who she is now. There's edge of your seat moments, a great connection with Mason, mixed in with emotion and gasps. They take quite a journey and I enjoyed those bits and the secrets! Loved it!

Great Story!

I love this book! The father/daughter relationship is so sweet. Learning how much they mean to each other when Mack is such a “tough guy” just warms your heart. Millie is a girl with persistence, strength, and Navy SEALs are her weakness. Whether it be her dad or the man she can’t seem to shake off. There’s lots of twists in this book. And everything comes together nicely at the end!

Caution: will cause book binge

I devoured this in a single night. I loved every minute of it but only wish it could have been longer. The ending felt rushed and I know there was so much there to work with. I’ve been in a reading slump lately and haven’t found anything that’s peaked my interest but this one cured me. I laughed and teared up so for that 4 stars.

The author was kind enough to send my place of work copies for our clients to read. I finally got my opportunity to get ahold of a copy to read it. This book reminded me of a mix of Top Gun, Miss Congeniality and American Sniper. This was a fantastic read and I’m looking forward to reading the 2 books remaining in this trilogy.

Very good start for the trilogy. I loved Mason and Millie.
I liked the back and forth between the past and the present. I also liked the way the author inserts chapters from others point of view.
A promising start for their story. What’s next? I’m looking forward to start the next book.

Not one full moment!

I'm not really a fan of mushy romance stories but the exciting action made up for it. A fast read and enjoyable. ☺
