With a speedboat chasing Gwen and her pack, they head for the waterfall, hoping they'll make it to the bottom in one piece. As the doggies jump, Gwen wedges herself in the canoe, flying through the air. After that lucky escape, they soon find themselves on Paradise, the island that Gwen had heard her sister Jane was on at one time. But what about all these wild animals? Why are they on this small island? Is it something to do with the Collector?
As Gwen and her pack encounter a lion, a rhino, then a herd of elephants, Gwen feels woozy. Was it the wound on her hand from the monkeys? What would be the outcome for Gwen, for her pack, if she's unable to continue to lead them?
Welcome to Paradise is the 8th in the Wolf Girl series and it was fun, fast paced and entertaining. I'm enjoying Gwen's journey as she searches for her parents and sister, finding many adventures along the way. Recommended.

Wolf girl lost on an island full of awesome animals.

Gwen is fleeing the Hornet soldiers that have been sent to capture her and all of her doggy crew. There is Brutus, Pirate, Nosey, her wolf Sunrise, and a chihuahua called Tiny. They are all devoted to Gwen and her search for her family.
They are now on an island full of animals far from where they should be. Wolf Girl and her pack see beautiful parrots and wild African animals on their journey including cheeky monkeys who are after their lunch!
It seems that despite all the dangerous things they’ve faced, these monkeys pose the biggest threat. Wolf Girl suddenly needs her pack to look out for her for a change. When all is well again, they’re back on track to searching for Gwen’s sister or any sign of her. Word that her sister might be working with the enemy is unwelcome news.
No. 8 in this fast-paced animal-action series, Wolf Girl meets more of The Collector’s collection. This time it’s African animals far from their natural home, living on an island.

This was what I'm coming to think of as another unnecessary "filler" story where the plot does not advance in any way. Gwen and the pack take a canoe down river to Paradise Island, followed by Hornets (guards of the Northern Kingdom), have encounters with animals, find out that her sister was on the island doing some kind of training (apparently not as a prisoner) and then depart.
For the last couple of books there has been a bonus story at the end which shows a time (not clear when) that Gwen and the pack met Amber (Skydragon) and worked together to escape the Braxan soldiers. That story ends after several 'to be continued' instalments in this book.
I am starting to wonder how many Wolf Girl books are planned, considering how slowly the plot is advancing. Is this going to be a series of 15 or are we looking at something like 64 like the Animorphs series?

Pretty good storyline. I Recommend this book to people who are young but are beginning to like chapter books. Back when I started this series, I was around 10 years of age, and back then it was perfect for me. I am quite fond of these books and will continue to read them because of the storyline, but as I age these books are quite short and do not take long to finish.

One of my favourites so far in the series, I really loved the way this book opened on the action and kept it up throughout. The only thing is that I do wish there was a little bit more explanation about the situation and what it happening in the world, but that might not matter to the actual target audience.

This book is my favourite Wolf Girl book so far. My favourite part was when Jane helped Gwen when she had hurt her hand.

🐺Well when a story begins with riding in a canoe through a crocodile-infested river being chased by people in a speedboat while heading toward a waterfall, then you know you are in for a good time!
👧🏽I was so glad to keep on reading after such an epic beginning to find that the rest of the book was just as amazing and enjoyable! Anh Do has done it again with the next part of the beloved Wolf Girl series.
🐺The mystery of Gwen’s lost sister deepens as her connection to ‘Paradise’ is uncovered. Full of action and a range of beautiful animals, you will find yourself reading on and on until the very end of this adventure. Some familiar ‘bad guys’ are back in this adventure and they surely give Gwen a hard time as she tries to escape their clutches.
👧🏽I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I am sure anyone would! Recommend for anyone aged 8 onwards.

PREDICTING - This book is full of some great events. It would be a wonderful book to use to support teaching the reading skill of predicting. Students will be able to use their prior knowledge and evidence to support making predictions about what might happen next.
