Most days are pretty boring for alpha coyote shifter Metro. As a state trooper, it’s usually routine traffic stops or the occasional lost hiker, but he suddenly finds himself assigned to the most peculiar case: a wolf shifter who’s forgotten who he is—and forgotten the wolf that lives within him.
An omega wakes up in the hospital after having a terrible accident. His head is throbbing, and his body is wrapped in casts and bandages. That isn’t the worst part, though… He doesn’t remember his name or where he came from, with no memory of what happened. Did someone hurt him? And if that isn’t bad enough, he doesn’t want to tell anyone, but he’s been hearing voices. Well, one voice in particular, and it just keeps chanting a single word: Mate.
With nothing but a watch inscribed with the name Brett to go on, the two men work together to help recover Brett’s lost memories, but things keep getting more difficult. Not only is the magnetism between them impossible to resist, but someone or something keeps getting in the way of the truth, and although Metro knows they’re fated to be together, it doesn’t seem right to forge a mating bond when Brett isn’t quite himself. The omega needs a chance to discover who he truly is. There’s only one thing that could make this all more complicated—a baby.
Harper B. Cole, Colbie Dunbar, and Trisha Linde bring you Slumber, the fifth book in the Fairest of Them All series. This fairytale retelling of Sleeping Beauty features an omega wolf who’s lost a piece of himself, an alpha coyote looking to put the pieces back together, a slow burn that transcends their identities, an unexpected pregnancy, an adorable baby, and an HEA fit for a fairytale. If you love couples who defy the odds, grab your copy today.
This book is … *confusing*, but not for reasons having to do with the story itself.
Wait, that’s wrong: the story itself is confusing too: it’s one of those alpha/omega shifter books, but I can’t figure out whether the world includes lots of mpreg or only shifters who mpreg. If the latter, that makes the amnesia plot weird, but the whole amnesia plot is weird.
Anyhow, no, what’s confusing is that deep in the middle of a truly bad m/m shifter romance is a bit of surprisingly good food writing. See, after Brett and Metro [Why? Do you just pick a random word from the dictionary that no one has ever named anyone, and choose it as one of the character names? Aughhh!] discover that they’re fated mates, there’s this moment where Brett makes Metro salmon en papilotte with Asian flavours (ginger/garlic/lime/chilli/basil), and the description is perfect:
“I turned on the oven and cut pieces of parchment paper. I sliced onion, chili, garlic, and ginger and lay them on the paper and put the salmon on top. Next were slices of lime, fresh basil leaves, a squirt of oil and seasoning. I wrapped the salmon in their parchment envelopes and popped them in the oven.”
This is great! I cooked it for dinner tonight, following exactly except I used rainbow trout. I think it would’ve been better with coconut rice than the rice noodles Brett served, and it might have used soy or mirin well, but still, it’s good.
This is in complete variance with the entire book otherwise. Even in this scene, instead of eating and then having sex, or having sex and then eating, no, our heroes do both. They savour the salmon while they have sex. The writing is ridiculous (and a bit gross, but I’ll not excerpt that here). Like, in the midst of them having sex:
“The aniseed flavor of basil, combined with the sour lime, the spicy chili, and the mellowness of the salmon had heat radiating through me.”
I can do a lot of things at once, but appreciating subtle flavour notes in basil while getting railed by a “ginormous dick” isn’t likely to be one of them.
This keeps going over and over. Some [no, all] of the sex writing is accidentally cringe-inducing; “excretions” is never a hot word, for example. We fantasize about having sex in a hospital bed currently occupied by a patient who just got out of a coma. We have sex in the shower while fingering “slippery ass cheeks” [which makes me wonder if “ass” is a noun, denoting the two cheeks of Brett’s ass, or an adverb, describing just how slippery they are]. It keeps going and going. As do our heroes.
This book has three authors. At least one of them can write about food. I can’t help but encourage that as a better way of satisfying the muse. The trout I cooked tonight was good. This book is otherwise terrible.
That was a sweet story. The writing was ok, the smexy was ok and side characters were ok. Just a sweet story to read if that’s what your in the mood for. No angst, no suspense.
Slumber is the fifth book in the ‘Fairest of Them All’ series. It stars Metro, an Alpha coyote shifter, and Brett, an omega wolf shifter. This is told in first person from both Metro and Brett’s povs.

Alpha coyote shifter Metro, a State Trooper, is brought into a case involving an Omega wolf shifter with amnesia. Assumed to be “Brett” since his watch was inscribed with that name, not only doesn’t he have memories of his past or the auto accident he was in, but he is unaware that he is a wolf shifter. Metro will be working with him to try to uncover his past, so he takes him home with him. Metro is also aware that Brett is his fated mate.
As Metro continued to investigate, he found Brett was from the Aurora Pack. He went to the police station to get information, but he had a bad feeling about the place so he did not ask his questions. With someone trying to kill his mate, he needs to proceed cautiously. He is also afraid once Brett finds out his own identity, he may not want Metro anymore.
But Brett wants to confront the issue and find out who he is. Brett is now pregnant from their mating and Metro is worried about his mate getting near someone who will try again to kill him. Will he let Brett go with him to question them? Will Brett be in even greater danger if the person trying to kill him will then know for sure he is still alive after the accident? Or is this their chance to find the danger and get rid of it so they don’t have to live their lives in fear?
Some parts of the story were good, but there were some weak parts too. I couldn’t figure why Brett was being so obtuse when Metro told him he was pregnant. He had no concept of a pup other than a pet and kept insisting they didn’t need a pet. He was just too obtuse to be believable. But it was good that the two of them had each other and Metro was a very sweet protector.
This is the final book in the Fairest of Them All series. This story is based upon the fairy tale Sleeping Beauty. This is the story of Metro and Brett. Metro is an alpha coyote shifter and a State Trouper. He is also without a pack. Metro is called to a crash site and it is there that his world is turned upside down. Brett is an omega and wolf shifter. When they first meet, Brett has amnesia from the crash and doesn't even know he is a shifter nor what his name is. The funniest parts to me were when his wolf was talking to him and Brett thought that he was going crazy hearing voices. Metro immediately takes him home to recover and hopefully get his memory back. Metro knows that they are mates but since Brett has his memory problems, Metro is taking no action. He is still investigating the crash and finds that it is not accidental. If you have read shifter books before, you know that a mate is instinctively protective. Finding out that someone tried to kill your mate takes it to a whole new level. This is a fun story to read. It is well written and easy to read. I will say that I thought it was less impactful that some of the previous books in the series, but it is still enjoyable.
I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest opinion.
This is part of the Fairest of Them All series each book can be read as a standalone usually a retailing of a sort with its very own alpha/omega. Metro a sweet coyote shifter without a family oh sorry pack working as a state trooper who has seen/heard a lot but hasn’t yet found that one that makes his heart stop so loneliness he lives with it. Brett was in a car accident leaving him without his memories basically amnesia since he is the investigating officer, he takes Brett home but also, he is determined to find out who hurt his mate. One of the things about shifters is usually or most time their animal is smarter than the human and that is the case here these two are hesitant especially with Brett’s condition and Metro being the state trooper on the case. Metro is trying to understand Brett life considering danger seems to surround him but will his memory come back, will he understand his past in order to gain his future, will Metro want to be a part of the future considering his past, and can they find their very own HEA despite their beginning?.

Metro is a state policeman and a coyote shifter. His patrol area covers a lot of different wolf pack territories. Usually wolves and coyote shifters don't get along but after he helped rescue a lost hiker, he has been accepted. One day Metro gets called to the hospital. A wolf shifter was in a car accident that almost killed him and ended up with amnesia. He has no clue who he is or even that he is a wolf shifter. Metro finds a watch in his belongings inscribed to Brett. When he walks into Brett's room, he is shocked to find out that he is his fated mate. Now Metro has to figure out who Brett really is, protect him from whoever cut the break line in his car and teach him about shifters and mates.
Brett is totally lost. He woke up in a hospital with no memories. He doesn't even know his name. When the police officer comes in and tells him his name might be Brett, it doesn't even sound familiar to him. Brett is very drawn to Metro and a voice in his head keeps saying Mate. Is Brett losing his mind?.

This is a great book to read about shifters. This is the fifth book in the series. This is Brett and Metro's story. Brett was in a car accident and woke up in the hospital with no memory of his life before. Metro restponds to a call to the hospital. He is an alpha coyote but works for the state police. When Metro meets Brett he knows that they are fated mates, but Brett has no idea who he is or that he is a shifter. Metro goes around trying to figure out who Brett is and where he is from. Metro goes to the Aurora pack to ask questions and returns with more questions. The next time Brett goes with him, and starts to remember everything. Brett is an omega wolf from the Aurora pack. Will Brett be able to save the Aurora pack from the bad men trying to run it??? What will happen to the Aurora pack when Bretts father decides to retire???? Where will Brett and Metro live ????.

SLUMBER Metro and Brett story is an interesting unique retelling of Sleeping beauty with a shifter twist were the fairy tale entwine with the shifter world and the complications of a wolf and coyote fated pairing entails. I was extremely happy to see the one who stole Metro heart and how he finds happiness when Brett is surrounded by mystery and danger to his life. I loved how their relationship blooms, the community and friends that helped them and how in finding his memories and truth Brett gains a new place, a loving family and a mixed community formed by his old and new life. I loved seeing old friends and how well they accept Brett in their life, how they connected, how they share life experience as well as joke and be happy together. It was an amazing read and can't wait to see what happens next.
Very interesting spin on the classic story Sleeping Beauty. Metro is an alpha coyote shifter who gets assigned to Brett's case. Brett is a wolf shifter who wakes up in a hospital with no memory of who he is, what he is, or what happened.
Metro was a great character. Knowing the connection between Brett and himself, he doesn't push Brett. Brett's character was well written. His internal dialogue with his wolf (which he doesn't know is his wolf) is pretty hilarious. Even though Brett is confused, he feels the attraction to Metro as well. Over time, Brett starts to remember who he is, what happened to him, and reconnects with his inner wolf. All while allowing the natural attraction to Metro flow.
Overall an enjoyable cute read.

Good mystery, nice love story. Trooper Metro is an Alpha coyote shifter, based out of Fairhome. Brett, Omega wolf, wakes up in a hospital with total amnesia. He doesn't even remember his wolf, so he worries he's hearing 'voices' in his head. His only possession is a watch inscribed with the name, Brett. Metro, knows Brett is his mate, but feels he would be unfairly taking advantage of a man who has no grasp of his identity or his special magic. Very sweet story of truly getting to know one another with no preconceived notions.Good friends and support structure. Brett and Metro are absolutely likeable men. Does Metro solve the mystery? Can he keep Brett safe? Will Brett regain his memory? Will Brett stay with Metro? Good story. Well done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
What a fantastic story! I was drawn in from the first pages. An accident that wasn't. Amnesia. The voice in his head. And a hot deputy that knows this man is his fated mate. Come. join Matro and Brett as they figure out not only who Brett is, but who is trying to kill him. Along the way, they will fall in love, have really hot sex, embrace a wolf who has been trying to tell Brett it's alright, and find an inner strength to face down an enemy. The scenes are well thought out and detailed, I could vividly see them. The characters hug you. Old friends show up. And ...cinnamon buns...yeah. I loved this book! You will too.

Another book in the fairy take remakes, this one covers Sleeping Beauty (Cutie).
Low angst, high sugar factor, this story is about alpha Metro, and omega Brett ( we think).
Lots of yearning in this book, as Brett is attracted to Metro, and Metro knows Brett is his mate, but neither feels comfortable acting on it until the mystery of Brett's identity is solved.
Really enjoying the series, as I don't need any added angst in my life, and sometimes just look for the sweet warmth. I'm always able to find it in books by Colbie Dunbar.. (In this series, it comes with the help of Harper Cole and Trisha Linde - great co-writing by the trio.)
Would definitely recommend!.

Very enjoyable and intriguing enough that keeps you on pins and needles on wondering what the outcome will be towards the end. I will say this mpreg fairytale out of all in this series stands out a little in that anyone who hadn't started with the first book would totally be able to read book 5 without missing a beat. Totally standalone and wonderful. Metro and Brett's unique meeting, all the mysterious events that kept them from fully embracing their fate and their sweet/spicy romance was on point...made this a fairytale worth telling...real nice HEA ...5STARS!!!!!

The coyote and the wolf. A wonderfully romantic twist on Sleeping Beauty - MM Style.
Meeting your mate and they have amnesia. What a dilemma and a unique opportunity to get to know them as they also learn about themselves. How can you protect your mate when you have no idea who hurt them and what to protect them from?
Many of the aspects were relatable and believable, the plot was well done and left no holes for confusion. The characters meshed together nicely and worked towards their happily ever after at a nice pace, given the book wasn't very long. Feels like 20 pages, when you're really into the book.
Metro is sent to check on an accident victim with amnesia and finds his mate. State Trooper Metro Curran gets a call requesting he go to the hospital and check on victim of a car accident. He finds out that the victim had gone off the road and down a steep cliff until the car hit a tree with no sign that he had braked. He has amnesia and had been unconscious and as he was a wolf shifter his injuries were healing fast but seemed unaware that he was a shifter. The is a watch with the name Brett on the back so Metro decides to call him that. When he enters the room he is hit by the scent of his mate.

Metro is a coyote shifter without a pack. He is also a state trooper. Brett is the victim of a car accident and has lost his memory. I like the way this story kind of starts off like Sleeping Beauty and takes a twist into the deadly and unknown. The story takes the reader for a journey that is not to be missed. It also brings back the wolf member of Bowser and Dusk Fall.
This was a really good book and I am so glad that we get Metro's book now. I really liked Brett and Metro together. These two try to take it slow with Brett still healing and Metro wanting to give him time, but fate and their animals had other plans. I really enjoyed this sweet yet steamy book and I can't wait for the next book.

I like a good re-telling of a familiar fairy tale. This is a neat twist on Sleeping Beauty and the author did a good job of bringing a fresh twist the story with good characters and a believable dilemma for our main characters. What a mess to find yourself in the presence of your fated mate but his memory has deserted him and trouble is not far away as you are trying to help him recover?.

I really enjoyed this interpretation of Sleeping Beauty. Brett has amnesia after a car accident and can't remember that he is a shifter. The voice in his head has him feeling like he is going crazy. When the local state trooper Metro gets involved with his case, both of them feel the mate pull. As these two try to figure out what really happened to Brett, passion ignites. A sweet tale filled with mystery and high on the heat.
When omega Brett wakes up in the hospital after an accident, he has no memories of who he is or where he came from. That's when Trooper Metro arrives to investigate the accident and realizes that Brett is his fated mate. Despite being different kinds of shifters, they begin to bond immediately. However, the road to answer all of the questions about Brett's past is treacherous and their HEA is uncertain. Engrossing, hard to put down story.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Brett is in an accident and has amnesia. Metro is investigating it. Metro takes Brett home because he is his mate. It was nice how their animal sides helped them get together. I liked how they stopped the coup but still kept to their plans of being together where they wanted to be.
Another great book to the series! The author brings strong characters in Metro and Brett and weaves an entertaining story with fated mates and an insta love. It's well written with descriptive scenes, moves quickly and smoothly and is a terrific read.

I like the reworking of Fairtytales by the authors in these mm shifter mpreg stories and this is book 5, based on 'Sleeping Beauty'.
From the beginning I was drawn into the story, it is always nice to get a different situation as a hospitalized, memory lost main character, usually shifters are not prone to health issue in these books. However the further I got into the book, the more I disconnected for a couple of chapters, till I got to the last chapters, those pulled me back into it all.
If you like an uncomplicated book with a guaranteed hea this might be for you.

Metro is a state trooper who is a coyote shifter. He's called to the hospital because a wolf shifter was in an accident and can't remember who he is and that he's a shifter. When Metro sees him he knows he's his mate. Metro will do anything to find out who he is and will protect him with his life. I really enjoyed this book.
Slumber is the fifth story in the Fairest of them All series. Metro is a wolf shifter and state trooper. One day he is assigned a case of an Omega that has forgotten who he is. Brett has also forgotten that he has a wolf living inside of him. They work together to recover the lost memories. There wasn't any angst, and lite on the steam. Overall, a great story!.
This was a cute short read. This time both mmc's were shifters. It held a bit of mystery since Brett woke up in a hospital without his memories and what had happened. It was nice that Metro got his own HEA as we had met him in previous books. Now that I'm caught up on series, I'm looking forward to next as it's what brought me here to this world.
I am absolutely loving this series. I love fairy tale stories and this one was just so good. The world building is fantastic and the characters are all so cute. I really enjoyed reading this story and I can’t wait for the next one.
